If you want basic tacos, go to Rusty’s. If you’re looking for out of this world, amazing tacos-VELVET TACO is the place to be! This is hands down our favorite taco spot. Greenville Ave & Rockwall-ya’ll rock! Amazing food and staff. It’s never a disappointment. Keep it up!

This was my first visit at a Velvet Taco. I drove through the taco line and pulled ahead it a marked spot. The person working the window was very helpful & polite. I ordered the steak bowl and it did not disappoint! The avacado creama was on point! I will definitely be back to try other options!

Google
A very nice modern restaurant that is part of a chain with multiple locations. We chose the bowls, and they were a very good choice, large enough to fill us up. The plates tasted fresh and the ingredients of good quality. We also had Jarritos for drinks. A bit noisy outside due to the car wash operation next door.

Tornadoes to Tacos... this place knocked it out of the park! While traveling to Dallas Love, we had a flight delay due to a tornado that resulted in our group of fifty not getting into the airport until 10:30pm. Right before take off I called Marisol (the manager) and explained our predicament... and asked if she and her staff would put together SIX Party Packs on just two hours notice AND WHEN I SAY THEY CAME THROUGH IN THE CLUTCH I MEAN IT!!!! Marisol, Armondo, Miguel and the entire night crew rallied to make the trip one we wouldn't forget! I won't forget their faces as two large charter buses rolled up in front of their shop. Absolutely priceless! Our track & field team has never eaten so much food on a bus and all of it was incredible. From the tacos, to the chips, to the SIX cakes we had to split... ALL OF IT WAS UNBELIEVABLE. I'll never be able to thank the crew enough for trusting me as I made my phone call from a plane ride away and working so hard to fulfill such a large order in such a short amount of time. I look forward to future trips back to the Dallas area so I can go out of my way to once again visit this location to show them my appreciation.

Google
Where do I start? This place has to be the worst spot in Dallas! The girl at the counter had an attitude barley made eye contact! The Diet Coke dispenser wasn’t dispensing coke, it was something white either sparkling water or just water with bubbles? Not sure! I got two famous bowls one BBQ and the other one was the Tikka chicken, I got home craving my Mexican food and eating I realized something was weird in the rice, it look mushy and crunchy what do I know? I thought it was made that way only to find out later it was old and I got food poison from it and I had diarrhea for 4 days! I called the store to let them know so people won’t get sick the manger apologized ( which that’s normal) but what’s weird he said I just got here I’ll make sure everything is okay and I’ll refund the order but I come to read the comments and I found out I am not the only one who had food poisoning from this place and this isn’t the first time! So basically the manger doesn’t care about people or the quality of his food, since people have been complaining in the past and this isn’t surprise for him! He chose not to do anything! I’ll avoid this location and this chain! Because they are reading comments but they choose not to do anything!

Google
I ordered online and picked up right in the drive through window, which was super easy and convenient. I was worried when I got home and there was no salsa on the side (I assumed all taco places put it on the side). When I got home to eat I was blown away by how delicious both items I tried were. They didn’t even need the extra salsa as they were both dressed with enough sauce already. I had the Beer Battered Cauliflower Taco and the Seasonal Veggie Bowl, and both were incredible. I can only imagine how much better the food taste when eaten right when it’s served. Definitely a must try. It was so good I forgot to take pictures…

Late date night destination! Good food, good drinks, good vibes! And the red velvet cake?! 💋

Google
It's hard for a restaurant to get 5 stars from me but Velvet Taco really impressed me. The food is top tier and the staff are really friendly. That Red Velvet cake was the best I ever had and I've had a lot. I highly recommend Velvet Taco when you're craving tacos

Crystie G.

Yelp
Family favorite stop anytime we're in Dallas. Great Tacos and wonderful service, as always.

Yelp
Drinks were good. Cake was better. Adam was fantastic. Nice to finally be in a place that isn't fine dining with fine dining service. Will be back.

Jimena H.

Yelp
always love these tacos @ this location! Makayla was nice. Highly recommend if you are in the area.

Yelp
More than one star, only because the manager is a great and understanding individual. First, I just want to start this review by saying I have been coming to this location for a long time for my lunch breaks and I've never had an issue with the drive-through ALCOHOLIC DRINK policy (which is kind of wild that restaurants are even legally allowed to serve alcohol via drive-thru in the first place, but I digress...) I understand drinking and driving is illegal, but I was waiting for two chimichurri tacos that took well over five minutes to be made without any indication that they were on their way or that they were being made. I've always gotten my drink before getting my meal while I wait so I've never had an issue with this before. however, it was so hot in my truck that has no AC in the Texas heat that I starting to profusely sweat, and I just wanted my drink. There was a white blonde girl (Kiley W) who took my order. At the beginning of our interaction she barely acknowledged me at all, and when I attempted to ask for my drink, she ignored me. So, I knocked on the window, and she only acknowledged me to tell me that they have a "doorbell" I even wasn't aware of. In all the times I've frequented this location I've never used it and have always had the same order come out promptly and in a timely manner. She gave me my drink, and since I had been waiting for a while, it was melted, so I asked for another one, and when I got the new drink, I took a sip to cool myself off since I had been in the heat for a while at that point, and I just needed something cold in my system. Then, blondie #2 came into frame, because your Miss Kiley was too busy I guess. The 2nd drive-through cashier had a bad attitude from the beginning too. She also did not relay to me how long it was going to take or if it would even take a moment because again, I was waiting for a well over five minutes, resulting in her taking my drink away when she saw that I was taking a sip, along with a lecture, as if she was my mother, telling me it was against the law, not necessarily telling me about their policy or that I would have to get a manager to get me a new drink. At the end of the interaction, I was not even told one word by the cashier as she slammed the drive-thru window doors in my face mid-sentence, prompting me to have to park and enter the store because they didn't even tell me that they would need a manager's approval to relinquish my drink back to me since I had broken the seal before leaving the location (even though I've done it before in front of an employee with no issue in the past) They were going to be fine with letting me waste my money without getting a manager's approval to then give me back the item that I paid for. Considering I live paycheck to paycheck, and this is how I choose to spend my money, THIS IS VERY UNCALLED FOR. I come here more than once a week because it's close to my job. It's convenient and I like the food & drinks, but I probably will not be coming back to this specific location ever again because of those two girls. The manager is again, a very kind and understanding gentleman, but those two girls are rude and unprofessional. Don't go to this establishment unless you want to get hassled by a couple of miniature Taylor Swift teenyboppers.

Yelp
Wednesday 7ish Feb 2024 In comparison to the Addison location, absolutely not. I will never return. Pro- this location has a drive thru! Cons- everything else. Cashier was ..... not friendly. Not mean. Just meh. Food was flavorless and cold in comparison. Got the Kobe cheeseburger taco (seasonless) Brisket nacho (cold). Also ordered the kick ass Margarita on the rocks--- she gave me the small one. Table was "cleaned" in front of us but a half-full bottle was left on the table. Choose another location to represent what Velvet Taco is supposed to be.
google avatar

Victoria E.

Yelp
Aww totally disappointed with this location Velvet Taco. I Got the usual brisket Nachos, so overwhelming hot could not taste any of the other yummy items. I asked the young lady behind the counter why, to be told it was probably the Chimichurri sauce as this location is the corporate test kitchen and the sauce must have just gotten changed. Well please change it back. Brisket meat was cold and soggy and with over powering heat from the Chimichurri made for an unpleasant starter to our meal. We decided not to order anything else other than the nachos and one lite beer. After adding a tip on the register for ordering at counter and picking up your own food and food unable to eat and staff not trying to make it right. Not sure what we are tipping for. Not my nature for a low rating but this was not service or food excepted from Velvet Taco or any food establishment.

Yelp
Great tacos, even better red velvet cake. Drive thru was quick. Ordering was simple through online or app, they're tacos so they dont take long but everything is definitely prepared fresh.

Yelp
I was visiting Dallas and my friend brought me here for dinner. I was impressed by all the unique taco flavors and decided to order 3 fan-favorite tacos - chicken tikka masala and Korean fried rice. They were both so delicious but I liked the Korean taco better. The chicken tikka taco had too much rice for my taste. We also ordered the queso blanco, which was creamy and a little spicy as well! Would definitely come back to try more tacos. Free parking in the shared lot!

Yelp
As a fist time visitor to Dallas, my first food stop besides the snacks at the hotel was Velvet Tacos!! The menu massive with a bunch of options, so I guess you can't go wrong with experimenting with all their options for multiple visits. Though I was not a fan of the chicken and waffles tacos that I had.. I don't know how to describe it, but he did not have that savory and sweet combination like a normal chicken and waffle. I did like the Korean fried rice Taco. That one was delicious! The chips, also a plus! Not too salty and paired well with their queso. Service was quick, as the food came out pretty fast. The vibes of the place was also pretty cool, very Texas vibe. The music wasn't too loud either that you could hear yourself think!
google avatar

Rachel R.

Yelp
I just love their margaritas maybe more than anywhere else in dallas. I love em! I can't get enough, the hours are so nice here and the food is my favorite - CHICKEN TIKKA allllll dayyyyy, KOREAN FRIED RICE, you have my heart
google avatar

Caroline Z.

Yelp
Such great tacos! We got a bunch for a work lunch and they were so yummy! Love all the interesting flavor combos. Had a spicy chicken one I really enjoyed
google avatar

Christopher E.

Yelp
Definitely one of my favorite experiences of any Mexican taco restaurants I've visited over the years. The food was amazing here and love their red velvet too! The service was pretty quick and they had us eating in now time. The ambiance is very family friendly and would definitely recommend them to my family and friends in Texas!

Yelp
Anytime I am in the Dallas area, I always try to make a stop at Velvet Taco. At this location, they had an all day breakfast tacos that they were trying out as well in case you're curious. On the day we went, the special was a chicken pot pie. I have enjoyed every item I have ordered from the menu so far. My go to taco order has to always include the chicken waffle. There's just something about that chicken waffle that has a hold on me. If you're not afraid of hot, I suggest ordering the curry queso. It is different and there's comething about the curry kick that tastes so good. This location has plenty of seating options available - inside and outside. The service was fast and there was a drive through window as well. There's also plenty of free parking in a private lot.
google avatar

Yelp
The tacos were delicious and they exceeded my expectations. The guacamole and chips was also very good. We tried 6 tacos and shared them. The chicken tikka masala taco was interesting. It was very heavy in chicken, likely the largest of all the tacos in regards to weight. It had a nice flavor, but it was more like eating just chicken and rice in a tortilla. We still enjoyed it though. The Mediterranean Mushroom taco was one of my favorites! It was flavorful and juicy. The fish and chips taco was decent and as expected, but larger. It was my second favorite. The fried paneer taco was tasty and flavorful. The Chat GPTaco was interesting but also good. The grilled flank steak was also very good. We tried the red velvet cake after and it was so delicious and moist. It was one of the best I've tried. Other than that, the service was quick. The restaurant had fun vibes. I highly recommend this place to others!

Yelp
Teriffic place with some mad tacos and dope vibe yo. Just kidding. The food is great. Ambiance is solid. Especially liked the chips and queso blanco. And shout out to Kenya (sp?) at the front for being so sweet and helpful.
google avatar

Raian N.

Yelp
My family and I were craving a light lunch while in downtown and decided to go here. This place had so many great options that it was super hard to decide. We got the spicy chicken tikka with rice taco, mexi-cali shrimp, and the slow roasted angus brisket and all were great. The queso blanco was super flavorful, definitely getting that every time with tater totes. They are known for their bold flavors and I completely agree with that. They're able to make super random flavors into something delicious which isn't easy to do. Service was super quick and very kind.

Matt G.

Yelp
Robert is the best! He gave us special treatment. He even took care of our boy tank. Roger needs to treated like a king. Much Roger! Thank you!

Manny H.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite restaurants. The service is always on point!! Now, let's talk about the taco??!!! They are absolutely amazing and they have the BEST margaritas in the house!!! Adam is amazing always great service and greeted with a smile ALL the time. The ambiance is very causal easy, but fun. A great place to kick back and catch up with your friends. It's a must STOP place!!!!
google avatar

Brianna T.

Yelp
I love this place. The tacos are not authentic, but their flavors are just out there. They have a breakfast taco menu they're trying out and it's so good. It's a great compliment to the chicken and waffle taco I always get as my staple taco! Curry queso is so much better tasting than the regular. I had a classmate tell me I messed up by ordering the regular instead of curry. Service is great and always fun to come here. There's a lot of seating inside and outside.
google avatar

Ann E.

Yelp
Velvet Taco app made it easy to order. Person at the window was smiling, polite, and he made the pick up easy. Drive thru at Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX was a breeze. I ordered: Large Kick A_ _ Margarita on the rocks, Red Curry Coconut Queso with chips, Elote with chips, # 14 Shrimp & grits, #12 Slow roasted angus brisket, WTF Orange Shrimp, Food and beverage was amazing! Highly recommend.
google avatar

Yolanda H.

Yelp
Great tasting gourmet tacos and a large selection to choose from. This is not your traditional Mexican taco shop but it's a fun and tasty place to enjoy tacos. I visit during lunch break at least 2x per month. Their fish tacos are my fav.
google avatar

Devaneé T.

Yelp
Fun tacos to try! Very flavorful! Friendly staff. Quick Service! Clean restaurant! You cannot go wrong here.
google avatar

Semhar M.

Yelp
Chicken tikka tacos are always a great decision here at Velvet Taco! We also love the barbacoa brisket nachos, and their frozen margarita. Great late night spot as well if you need to grab a bite in the wee hours.
google avatar

Emily W.

Yelp
Heard great things about Velvet Taco and had to pay a visit! Ordered 3 tacos: spicy tikka chicken, slow-roasted angus brisket, and fish n chips. Of the 3, my favorite was the fish n chips! I loved the curry mayo sauce on top and the malted French fries on top was so unique! The tacos are definitely filling, would probably get just 2 next time. So many unique options so would definitely come back to give other tacos a try :)

Trevor E.

Yelp
The food is delicious. Loaded tots are money. Queso - money. Brisket and Korean fried rice tacos are my favorite. Went thru the mobile order pickup line and realized when we got home that our loaded tots were left out (it was a large order). HOWEVER, when I called, the manager already knew exactly what I was talking about, apologized, and when we went back gave us 2 free taco coupons. Mistakes happen but going above to make up for it shows great service.
google avatar

Jared P.

Yelp
The Nashville tofu and Mediterranean mushroom tacos were so good. I think the AC wasn't working though, it was hot in there. That's my only complaint
google avatar

Jordan H.

Yelp
Hadn't had Velvet Taco in a while but man has the food quality really fallen off. Maybe it's this location? Even though I had to wait for my food it was still cold. The place was dead but maybe it's because a taco festival was across the street earlier that day? The tacos at Rusty's right down the block I definitely rate better.
google avatar

Milkey S.

Yelp
This used to be my favorite taco place. Lately, however, things have been going south. Service has been really bad with the people working the counter acting like they are doing you a favor by taking the order. The tables are oddly sticky and usually not very clean during lunch time, which is when I go most often. I've also noticed a change in the way the tortillas taste. Maybe I'm imagining it because of the negative vibes from the servers and counter people. But there is something different that has me feeling it is off. Hopefully things improve or I'll have to find another lunch spot.

Yelp
O EM GEE!!! I was blown away by the tacos I had here on Saturday! I was in town from St. Louis this past weekend and had been told about Velvet Taco years ago but had never made it to one. I came here and the tacos I had were a-may-zing! I had the Buffalo Chicken, the Cuban, and the Bison Bacon Burger. All of them were exceptional! The Cuban tasted like an actual Cuban sandwich, which I love. The Buffalo Chicken was well prepared and had ranch dressing and blue cheese crumbles which was great! The Bison Bacon Burger was delicious!!! The special sauce on the taco laid it out! I can't decide between if the Buffalo Chicken or Bison Burger was my favorite. They were definitely my top two picks, but all three tacos were dynamite! The service here was also very good and the restaurant was very clean and spacious! This is going to be my go-to spot in Dallas from now on!
google avatar

Michelle N.

Yelp
This is one of my faves for Eccentric tacos. This isn't Tex-Mex or authentic Mexican tacos. Their blend of high quality ingredients leaves you begging for more. The nachos are delicious & can be shared or eaten as a meal by itself. I recommend removing the Mayo Crema cuz mayo should never go on nachos & even my friends that like Mayo, did not like that blend on their nachos. The Rotisserie Chicken taco is one of my faves. It's over stuffed with chicken (I could make 2 tacos out of one) and the nacho cheese & pico are a perfect addition. The Queso Blanco is one of the best cheese dips around! It's perfectly melted & stays that way while you dip your blue corn tortilla chips. The Grilled Flank Steak is another one of my faves. The mushroom pairs perfectly with the steak & queso blanco. Every taco is overflowing with ingredients & they are never skimpy! Use the house hot sauce, it's the best taco sauce ever invented! But watch out, it's super spicy & will burn The staff is mostly friendly & helpful. Once in a while you get a rude staff member but it's rare. I highly recommend this place! Everything is delicious! Secret tip: you can buy a whole squeeze bottle of their hot sauce to take home & enjoy on all your food!
google avatar

Christopher P.

Yelp
Amazing service and even better food. Loved the whole setting. I ordered a bit of everything and was pleasantly surprised how good everything was. The elote is a must!
google avatar

Daniel C M.

Yelp
Wow, I had the #11 Flank Steak Taco, it was great! The mushrooms, ahhh, juicy filling and what can I say. Great food, great experience. One thing to note. The frozen margarita is strong!
google avatar

Ashleigh C.

Yelp
Updating my review from a few years ago. They added the kids menu to the app soon after. So sorry I'm just now updating my review. It's only right that i correct it to a full 5 stars. Thank you Velvet Taco for all your hard work and yummy tacos!

Caroline C.

Yelp
Good food served pretty quickly. I had the Cuban taco and the Chipotle BBQ taco. My hubs had the rotisserie chicken taco and the Cuban taco. All were exceptionally good. We also had an order of the Elote corn and that was very tasty with blue corn chips. Looking forward to the next time we are in the area to try some of the other tacos. I really want to try the brisket nachos as well. If you get the chance to go to The Velvet Taco, it's worth the trip. You clean up after yourself so service was great hahaha.
google avatar

Ralph B.

Yelp
Usual Great Food in a More Inviting Space than Other Velvet Taco Locations I have been to a few Velvet Tacos, and they all have great food. Some of the most creative foods in a taco tortilla shell you will find anywhere. So, when we attended an event near SMU we were pleased to see this nearby. I don't think you can go wrong with anything here, but our favorites are the Buffalo Chicken, Picnic Chicken, Green Chili Pork and Mexi-Cali Shrimp. And, no visit here would be complete without at least one order of the Crisp Tots and Local Egg. Yes, it is tots with a fried egg on top, and I add lots of the milder sauce available at the table. Good beer selection and typical margaritas. What made this experience better than other Velvet visits is that this restaurant has more space for dining and just feels more comfortable than the one on Knox, for example. If run of the mill tacos are what you are looking for, stay away. If you are looking for culinary creative tacos in a fast casual price, you can't go wrong with this restaurant.
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
Service with a smile!!! When needing a late night dinner that isn't terrible for you but still delicious - any of their tacos wrapped in lettuce are amazing! Not to mention super fast and friendly customer service! Hard to find when picking up food late!

Bri H.

Yelp
They have unique tacos that are definitely a hit! I learned about this place while Ubering They're a bit pricey, but definitely worth it
google avatar

Kimberly L.

Yelp
I heard wonderful things about Velvet Taco and had to try it out myself. I ordered take out for lunch and had a hard time narrowing down my selection because the menu is so unique and everything sounded amazing. I settled on a Shrimp and Grits Taco, a Korean fried rice taco and Barbacoa brisket nachos. Everything was quite tasty and I very much enjoyed my lunch. I will have to come back and try more of the menu!
google avatar

Heidi M.

Yelp
The only reason I decided to try Velvet Taco was because of the queso. A coworker told me about the red curry coconut queso and I just had to try it! It did NOT disappoint. The best queso I have ever tried and the portion was enough for a meal with a single taco. I was so impressed with the variety of taco combinations. I wish they had a Velvet Taco in Tampa, Florida! I would be here at least 3x a week!
google avatar

Lesly F.

Yelp
I have tried the food here twice. The first time I got salmon tacos, grilled flank steak, mexi-cali shrimp. The only one that stood out to me was the Salmon one. The other two were okay. It definitely didn't help that the tortillas were cold so it was hard to chew. Second time I ordered the salmon tacos again and the chicken waffle. Both were amazing! Definitely only order the waffle taco if you like sweets.
google avatar

Fatima C.

Yelp
Really delicious fusion inspired tacos!! The fish and chips is by far my favorite one. The curry mayo or sauce is perfect! The elote and nachos are not that great and I'll pass on the apps nest time around. And I love that there's a drive thru for pick up orders. Parking can be a bit tight here but they open late which I appreciate!
google avatar

Tanya D.

Yelp
Today I stopped to get me some tacos from velvet taco. This was my first visit to this location and only my second time dining with this restaurant. I must say the ordering process online was a breeze nothing to it. I downloaded ordered and was ready to get my food through the drive through within minutes so that part there absolutely easy keep app the good work with that. Now second as I pulled into pick up my order I was choking and the lady in the window was so very nice that she actually gave me a bottle. Of water for free even though I? Had told her i'd. Ordered one the gentleman that handed me my order advised that he handed me some napkins for that just in case I wanted to enjoy my tacos on. The way home which I did now the food. Let's start with the chicken and waffle taco when I had never heard of before. The waffle was thin and delicious. It wasn't too crispy wasn't too sweet had just enough. The chicken was crispy and season to perfection and the bacon bits with probably maybe Maple and some other type of topping was absolutely phenomenal. It is a must try now let's be real. It's not gonna taste like a taco. It's gonna taste phenomenal though second deficiencies taco. The fish was so light crispy and flavorable. I could have eaten that by itself but then with the tortilla and the only sauce. I believe it was on the top it was absolutely delicious again. 911. I would try it again although at first. I was a little put back because I thought that the food was too expensive 575 for a taco. However it was so worth it. I was full with just the 2 tacos. I had I definitely would be back. Customer service was absolutely great and it was my pleasure to grab my food and go. Thank you for a great experience. I hope that someone else gets the same experience that I did because. They'll be back.

Yelp
Still my favorite taco chain in the country. Flew out from Baltimore this morning so I could enjoy it this evening. Lots of outdoor seating at this place and there's parking too so that's kinda swell.

Venita E.

Yelp
Stopped for lunch here for the first time. Had the Farmhouse and weekly special (Crab cake taco). Both delicious and filling.

Rebekah L.

Yelp
BEST SERVICE. Sweetest people and bomb food. It's super clean and amazing vibes. My favorite place to go to for tacos!!!!
google avatar

Alex A.

Yelp
Awesome food and atmosphere, wheelchair friendly, kids friendly, patio dog friendly and reasonable prices

Wissam H.

Yelp
Always loved the food and we always had a good experience. Today we waited at the counter for more than 15 min, they stopped taking orders. The guy in charge wouldn't let the lady at the counter take orders. Several people had to leave.

Amy P.

Yelp
The tacos are so yummy and the staff is super friendly. My fav velvet taco in the area

Yelp
Velvet taco was extremely good. 2nd time here and it's the first place I went to after I landed at the airport.

Yelp
I've driven past this place often and it was on my to try list so I finally went here for lunch on a Saturday. There is parking around the restaurant which is convenient. The ambience is modern upscale casual. Tons of seating. I tried the tinga chicken, rotisserie chicken, and brisket tacos. My favorite was the tinga chicken, which was spicy and very flavorful. I would get that again for sure. Second favorite was rotisserie chicken, very mild and not much flavor but the chicken was soft and good quality. My least favorite was the brisket, which was also the most expensive at $5.50. The brisket itself was ok, a bit stringy, but the taco had too much mayo-based sauce which drowned out everything else. It was like a mayo taco. I would not order it again. I wish they had plastic ware to scoop up all the fallen bits and pieces. The cashier was super friendly and nice, giving me a free soda for my first visit to the restaurant. It worked! The menu has all sorts of intriguing things to try so I look forward to my next visit.
