I am beyond excited that a velvet taco is close by now I don’t have to go to San Antonio to get tacos! There are no complaints the customer service was amazing. The cashier was patient and attentive to my request. We had no leftover and wanted to order more. If I just say anything Velvet Tacos can be addictive. The flavors that pop out of the sauces are a 100 with me. They understood I have severe food allergies the cashier made sure they didn’t put any tomato’s in my food. Not a long wait for food I would say maybe 5-7 minutes. I met some nice customer we all laughed together saying how great the food quality is. If you haven’t had velvet tacos you’re missing some food stuff. Taco fans let’s get on this velvet taco it’s 100 out of 100 for me.

Google
These to-go pictures don’t do justice to the incredible flavors packed into every taco I ordered! It was my first time here, and I was beyond impressed—not just by the authentic taste but also by the fast, friendly service. For the price, these tacos are unbeatable! Highly recommend if you’re craving real Mexican tacos!

We stopped here late at night after a football for a bite of food. The service was good, the food was great and we enjoyed eating outdoors. The tables did need a bit of cleaning outdoors, but we found one that wasn't too bad and sat down. The tacos were amazing. I definitely recommend the chicken and waffle taco. I've eaten at the Velvet Taco in the Domain but never at this location. The food was fantastic 😋

Google
Velvet Taco never misses!!! I haven’t had a bad experience or taco since I’ve found this place(that’s 2 years strong). I always get the brisket and buffalo chicken tacos and occasionally the salmon. But today I got the usual along with their Birria tacos and I always avoided buying it because I don’t eat pork but I downloaded their app and saw I can sub it for brisket and I was not disappointed and the consume dip is to die for. Now my pics are the aftermath because after the first bite I forgot to take before pics. As always I highly recommend them in whatever city they are located.

Google
Stopped by after a trip from camp. Service was on point, welcoming and friendly staff. Food was on point, had the birria tacos, queso, kids meals and several other tacos. Never disappoints! Manager, FLAVIO was running kitchen and cashier which was impressive as you don't see managers doing that often. Saw him interacting with the customers and always had a smile. He needs a raise! Loved the decor. Definitely one of my favorite taco spots. I'm from San antonio and will be stopping here every time I pass by!

Google
I don’t get it, if you have customize options like exclude spicy aioli etc. why do I get mega hot/spicy taco each time? This time even corn in my taco was hot as hell! There are people that want non spicy dish sometimes!

Malachi Crone

Google
Usually a fantastic dinner spot. Love eating here. They messed up my to go order. Two tacos short and the brisket nachos have no meat on them. Too much money for lack of food

Google
Seriously delicious! 💥🌮 🥰 love this new location … it is so nice. Clean, comfortable and relaxing. The food was amazing … got the brisket tacos, buffalo chicken, tiki spicy chicken and pork #9 … chips and queso and a perfect large margarita 🎉❤️🥳 …. The staff was all friendly and helpful. So enjoyable and perfect! Thank you! Highly recommend …

Yelp
I decided to pull in to the drive-thru on a whim, and man! Was this a delicious surprise! I remember liking Velvet Taco, but it had been a few years and the menu had changed. I couldn't decide, so I ordered 5 tacos and my husband and I split them. The quesa birria duo with pulled pork comes with 2 tacos in each order, and it was bursting with melt in your mouth flavor. Somehow, I finished one whole taco before moving on to the next and had enough self control to avoid picking up another quesa birria. Next, I tried the sweet chili, panko fried shrimp and it was heavenly. The first bite was a smooth, delectable combination of flavors and I hesitated before moving on to try the next two options, but I continued on. Chimichurri sauce is always a hit in my family, so I tried the chimichurri steak and it was to die for. The flavors popped and it was still time to try the Korean fried rice which was probably the best, believe it or not! Spicy, sweet, salty, and more.

Yelp
I got the taco of the week: Fa-La-La Brisket Taco. It was delicious. It was an interesting combo of things but they complimented each other really well. The crispy onions were cooked perfectly and the cheesy hash browns were really tasty. The brisket tasted more like roast (could have been more tender), but it was still good. The location is nice. Smaller than the Domain location but still has a nice seating inside and out. I would definitely come here again! Hales Scale: 8.5/10

Yelp
Velvet Taco is one of my absolute go-to spots for nontraditional tacos, and it never disappoints! The menu is packed with an incredible variety of options, catering to every taste and dietary need. Whether I'm in a vegetarian, pescatarian, or full-on carnivore phase, I've always found something delicious and satisfying here. The creativity and flavors in their tacos are unmatched--there's truly something for everyone. The drinks are another highlight. Not only are they great, but they're also strong, making them a perfect pairing with the bold and flavorful tacos. It's a fast-casual setup, so there aren't servers, but the food typically comes out quickly, which is a plus when you're hungry and ready to dig in. If you're dining with friends, they've got you covered with tables that can seat up to eight people, and there's also a patio if you want to enjoy your meal outside. Another big perk? They stay open until 2 a.m. on weekends, making it an ideal late-night spot for a tasty bite after a night out. Velvet Taco consistently delivers on quality, variety, and flavor, and it's a place I always recommend to anyone looking for a fun and unique taco experience. It's casual, convenient, and absolutely delicious--what more could you want?

Noanya S.

Yelp
Velvet taco is still going strong and the margaritas and tacos remain consistent. I'll be honest I come for the margaritas to go and add gran marnier at home ‍ it's my guilty pleasure. Especially since they are currently doing half gallons for $30.

Judy S.

Yelp
Marbell was so delightful and experience she knew the menu unlike most places employees are absentminded. Always the food service and the tacos are amazing w spice flavor loads of ingredients. The dollar bill gets a lot here!

Richard H.

Yelp
A great example of the diverse food options in Austin! Best described as gourmet tacos! Amazing selection of diverse tacos: bulgogi beef (Korea barbecue beef). Indian flavors, authentic Mexican meats carnitas. Be prepared to pay a little more, but definitely worth the price!

Joseph M.

Yelp
Once again traveling and dying to scratch the itch of a good taco location and Velvet taco did not disappoint! The cashier was polite, approachable, and had great recommendations for my family. The inside of the establishment was very clean with open seating. You know you have a good establishment when other customers were asking which taco I got and sharing their experience with their choice. The brisket nachos were something you dream about. Flavor bursting with every bite. The brisket was tender flavorful, the topping was elote flavored which is different but also worked. The birria tacos and comal were a thing of beauty. The ratios in each were different though. I would like to see more consistency with it but overall the meat and cheesy combination couldn't be beat. The Korean rice taco had all the flavor profiles of an authentic korean dish, from the rice all the way down to the sauce. My overall experience of this establishment is a 5 out of 5 would return and recommend. It might just be me but they have great flavors fast service and something you look forward to eating!

Edward S.

Yelp
Excellent customer service, tacos and margaritas!! Highly recommend!!! Love the Blanco queso and Kobe burger taco with a margarita!!

Lauren M.

Yelp
It's a chain but has solid taco and drink options. And this new location offers another great food option in Round Rock! It's counter order style so the line moves fast if there is one present. This location has indoor, outdoor and drive through as options. There is also plenty of parking too!

Dave M.

Yelp
Got into Austin late, heading to Waco. We needed something quick and found Velvet Tacos on Yelp. Big menu with lots of awesome options. The staff was friendly and very helpful since we were newbies. Made some great recommendations. Went with the trio of dips: -Elotes (Amazing) -Queso (Great Flavor, had some green sauce mixed in) -Guacamole (Smooth and delicious) Blue corn chips were excellent. Angus Brisket Taco - excellent Smokey flavor on brisket, toppings were fresh and delicious. Chimichurri Steak taco is a fantastic take on carne asada. Rotisserie chicken taco was delicious, good flavor on the chicken. Quesabirria tacos were good, not my personal fav, but my wife & daughter loved them. Manager and staff were very attentive, awesome crew, representing the company very well.

Sophia B.

Yelp
Stopped in for our first time after donating blood. Yummy! Who knew tacos could be so good!?! Hubby ordered the Nashville Hot Tofu and Rotisserie chicken. I ordered the Fried Cauliflower and the BBQ pulled pork. We also ordered the Elote Guac and the Queso Blanco. The Guac was our favorite. The Queso was just ok. Everything was prepared perfectly and hubby loved the crispy tofu in his taco. So many options and they have a WTF taco specials everyday to try something new. Food came out quickly and everything inside was clean. We will definitely be back! So many things to try!!!

Christina G.

Yelp
This was my first Velvet Taco experience! And ot was sooo good. The server was super friendly! I got the #2 chicken and #12 brisket. The brisket was ahhhhmazing!! Highly recommend the elote and queso Blanco too. This will be one of my taco Tuesday spots for sure!!!!

Yelp
Okay, so we watched this place being built. I kept wondering what's going to be here. Then, when the Velvet Taco opened, I kept telling myself I needed to go and try this place. Well, today came, and we finally tried it. Oh boy... I am glad that the suspense kept building. This place has some amazing fusion tacos. My wife and I had and shared 3 different tacos. Hands down out of the four, the korean fried rice was fire. As soon as we walked in Angie, the lady at the register answered all our questions as we had a lot. Directed us what her favorites were. She pointed us in the right direction. Nice music playing even flows around the restraunt. It has a good feel to it. Everyone is working with a smile. Walking asks how everything is. I need to say come try if you haven't already. Also, there is a taco of the week they call WTF. Aleays changing. So wee will see tou next week

Yelp
Title: A Culinary Adventure at Velvet Taco: Tacos with a Twist and Grand Margaritas Venturing into Velvet Taco in Round Rock proved to be a gastronomic journey like no other. With a diverse menu featuring tantalizing options such as rotisserie chicken, chicken & waffles, Kobe smash burger, and grilled salmon tacos, each bite was a delightful explosion of flavors. The rotisserie chicken taco perfectly captured the essence of tender, juicy chicken, while the chicken & waffle taco offered a sweet and savory combination that was simply irresistible. The Kobe smash burger taco was a creative twist on a classic favorite, and the grilled salmon taco showcased the freshness of the seafood with every bite. To complement the flavorful tacos, I indulged in the Grand Kick Ass Margarita, and it did not disappoint. True to its name, this margarita packed a punch with its bold flavors and refreshing kick, making it the perfect accompaniment to my meal. As if the savory delights weren't enough, the dessert offering of Red Velvet cake took the experience to new heights. Not overly sweet, the cake was a fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth treat that left me craving more. The ambiance of the outdoor seating area added to the overall experience, especially on a beautiful day. The relaxed atmosphere allowed me to fully enjoy the culinary delights while soaking in the sunshine. Velvet Taco truly exceeded my expectations, and I cannot wait to return to sample more of their innovative taco creations. With a menu that constantly evolves and features a rotating selection of featured tacos, there's always something new and exciting to try. I wholeheartedly recommend Velvet Taco to anyone seeking a culinary adventure that goes beyond the ordinary. If I could rate it higher than 15 out of 20, I certainly would. And as for the Grand Kick Ass Margarita? It lives up to its name in every sip.

Yelp
This small taco joint with a drive-thru is a great place to grab and go! We chose to go in but would do the drive-thru next time if we came back. The place is small so if you have a big party be prepared to split up. It is a counter service, which I like! The food is ok, a bit on the spicy side but nothing too hot! The sodas, which are expensive IMO, weren't that great. They need to fix the syrup-to-soda water ratio. When I'm paying that much for a soda can we at least have it taste good? I do like all the options for tacos! Next time we will have the chicken and waffle taco!

Yelp
This is a chain that just opened its new location in Round Rock a couple months ago, and I've been dying to go. This is the first location I've seen that was built from scratch and includes a drive through, which is convenient since they're on the interstate. But keep in mind that ordering is on the back of the building and not the ATM lane on the side which is confusingly located. I'll get my complaints out of the way first that the interior has a very unappealing dive feel which is frustrating given that it's brand new and they could have gone any direction. There's a lot of metal and wood and black with industrial fixtures. There are long communal tables with paper towel rolls on each. And no plates for your food so you're guaranteed to spill something from your paper-lined metal taco holder. But the tacos are the only important part and they knock those out of the park. They're too expensive at the $5 to $6 and change, but my brisket taco was very full of ingredients and delicious. There was plenty of meat, roasted corn, avocado, and more, and the tortilla itself was grilled with cheese on the outside in a brilliant attention to detail. It was surprisingly satisfying and I find myself craving another just remembering it here. I would certainly recommend that, but they also have an amazing collection of other options that are so far from the typical boring combinations. I really want to try the chicken & waffle taco next or the tikka masala, perhaps. There are Korean, Indian, Mexican, Southern, and so many other styles to choose from with all kinds of imaginative ingredients and flavors. And they also have a taco of the week that's different every single week and gives you a chance to try even more inventive tacos that you'll wish had a home on the permanent menu.

Christa C.

Yelp
I've come to this location a few times now because it's close to work and a quick bite if I don't pack my lunch. I never venture towards ordering some of their more unique tacos like hamburger, buffalo chicken, tikka masala, etc - I mainly stick to Mexican/typical taco flavors and have always been happy and full! Their tacos are very savory. I also love their queso and chips! I've ordered ahead on the app and had zero wait time so I'm impressed with their service too.

Courtney B.

Yelp
What can I say about the Velvet Taco that already has not been said? This place is not unlike Torchy's in that it's a TX taco place that folks seek out from around the U.S. I came to this new RR location the other weekend with Thing Two to check out the shiny new location. We ordered two tacos and a three dip trio. Mexi-cali shrimp The Mexi-cali shrimp tacos' primary protein is blackened shrimp. Blackened seasoning is a spice combination used in a method of cooking called blackening. It should be noted that blackened doesn't mean burnt, but the food might appear to be black or dark brown due to the seasoning and cooking process. The blackened shrimp tacos served here are made with sriracha aioli, napa cabbage slaw, and have perfectly spiced juicy shrimp and fresh avocado pico. This taco is fresh and light, and the ingredients of the dish blend well into each other. Chicken & Waffle (Thing Two order this) This taco is on the heavier side as far as ingredients are concerned. This taco can be described as savory and sweet. Each bite of the perfectly waffled waffle-taco shell is toasty, sweet, and tender and made even better by the salty taste of the chicken and bacon pieces. The service was prompt, and the food was as expected. Overall, this was a good showing by the new location.

Destiny L.

Yelp
Visited Velvet Taco during lunch for their 'free taco' day. I got the quesa birria duo, slow-roasted pulled pork, gruyere cheese, queso listo, pickled red onion, cilantro, griddled corn tortillas, birria consomé for dipping. While it is not the best quesabirria that I have ever had, for a chain restaurant it was definitely better than I would have expected. What I liked about Velvet Taco (aside from the fact that they stay open late) is that they stray away from most traditional tacos and give you fun combinations that really demonstrate creativity and effort put into their menu.

Brian O.

Yelp
Velvet Taco in Round Rock is literally like winner winner chicken dinner every time and especially on Mondays with the $15 Backdoor Chicken special! The menu is varied and diverse with something for everyone including vegetarian and gluten free. I could go on and on about my experience in Round Rock with the fabulous tacos and sauces plus the queso and Red Velvet Cake, which are all wonderful but what really tops off my visits here are the team members and the excellent customer service and willingness to make things happen with a sense of urgency and high standards for quality. Good job!

Adriane V.

Yelp
Heard of this place for years just never tried it. Stopped in yesterday for a quick bite and "Oh my", why did I wait so long... I had the Mezcal Shrimp and Sweet Chili Shrimp Tacos. W/ a frozen Margarita topped with a Grand Marnier shot Tacos were a nice size and flavorful, definitely satisfied my tastebuds. Service was fast and hosts were tentative throughout the visit. The margarita was of great as well, definitely worth the nap I had after. Only one thing wrong... the butchered my name I take it not everyone has watched or know the Pocahantis history.. but I'll take it. #GoodEating

Jenn M.

Yelp
We love Velvet Taco and have had it many times at The Domain location. Sooo excited that there is now a location in RR, which is right around the corner from home. The best part is that they have a drive thru!!!! The chicken tikka masala and sweet chili shrimp are my favorites, however, I haven't had a bad tasting taco here. I also enjoy their red velvet cake. Their tacos and sides all have a nice twist and they aren't your typical tacos. For example, the red curry queso--sounds odd, but it's good! I love the fragrant Thai basil in the queso. This location is also conveniently right off of 35 going north. Easy to access location means more tacos!!

Javier B.

Yelp
We have been waiting for this location to open since we saw the coming soon sign a while ago. We came to give it a try without knowing it was opening night. The food was great as always. We had three is our favorite tacos, Slow Roasted Angus Brisket and a WTF, Chicken Cordon Bleu. Both were delicious. We also had queso and elote! The staff was very welcoming and friendly. We will be back soon!!

Mary S.

Yelp
We tried the Cuban Pig, the Rotisserie Chicken and the Cod fish & chips tacos along with a side of chips with beef add on to the queso. Everything was great, very flavorful, service excellent and ambience had an upbeat vibe. Very clean restaurant as employees very attentive to every detail.

Joshua J.

Yelp
Personal Opinion: This Velvet Taco is better than the one in the Domain. We did not have long to wait in line to order and service was actually helpful and quick. The food was great - I ordered the Shepards Pie taco and the Smash burger taco. There is a good amount of space inside and I believe they also have an outside patio area to eat. Also, there is a drive thru for those who really want a quick pick up experience.

El b.

Yelp
Very happy with the service and food. The curry Queso was intriguingly delicious and will definitely be a go to for another visit. I loved all of our tacos, but I didn't like that they don't give you plates, wrapper or even a tray to put your food into. It came out on this long metal holder including our whole tables order. It was just a weird concept, but wouldn't stop me from coming back. I'll just smuggle in my own plate....

Junior H.

Yelp
The tacos were amazing. Much better than the ones I had at the domain. Tons of flavor and juices with each taco. We tried tacos with chicken, beef, and pork for variety and each was delightfully prepared. Easy to order and they call your name over the loud speaker to pick up once ready. They did forget my drink initially, but once I asked they promptly corrected the issue and I was thankful they did as the drink was well balanced and delicious. A great way to spend one of the first warm days in round Rock this year! Glad it's here and in the neighborhood. Will certainly return again!

Samuel T.

Yelp
Fairly new to Round Rock. Fancy Taco place several friends recomended, so I tried it at 10 pm on Friday night. I had 2 of the Philly Cheesstake. A little on expensive side. $16 for tacos, small drink and tip. I think I will try fish and chips next time, which my friend suggested. A little spicier than I prefer, but I could have left the jalapeños off. I'll be back, but come with a friend who has mastered the menu. Service was good and there were a lot of happy looking patrons. Fridays / Saturdays open till 2 am.

Amy T.

Yelp
Amazing. We came here during the soft opening (to get their feet wet) and had reservations for take out at 2 pm. I presubmitted my order as per the instructions and everything came out perfect and on time. I ordered the buffalo chicken taco and picnic taco. Both were amazing. Husband got 2 of the beef variety and bc I dropped his off at his work for his lunch I did not get to take photos of those or taste them. I did however love the margarita swirl. Usually I do not order house margs bc they are so sweet. For me, a skinny marg or top shelf (light on the mix/sweet stuff). but with the swirl it gave it a tang that took off the super sweet taste and it was great. I cant wait for my kids to be well enough to stop in. (just started school this year so none of us are safe this year) but hoping RR loves the new edition to the this popping shopping center.

Lydia W.

Yelp
Friendly staff and the environment felt like a happy place. This was my first time. I recommend trying one from each chicken, beef, pork, fish. We tried two from pork and two from fish. The pork was the same meat, just different additives. The best taco we had was the fish and chips!! We tried the barria queso taco, Korean Rice taco and Mexi Cal Shrimp. Not something I would seek out but wanted to try something new. I grew up in a Mexican kitchen with my grandmother. For myself I will stick to the original taco I know. The jazzed up tacos is not for me.

Mike R.

Yelp
One of my favorite tacos stops, I'm glad they opened this one closer for those of us on the north. Between the rotating monthly feature and a hot sauce that actually has the heat it promises, such a great place for a late night dinner on the way home.

Bill M.

Yelp
The one thing this restaurant has going for them is the drive through. The tacos are interesting, but over-priced. Nothing to really write about with the tacos I tried a few weeks ago. Going forward, I prefer to walk-in to a competitor and get larger, better tasting tacos.

Daniel G.

Yelp
This is the best Taco place I've had in a Really long time. Service is good and the atmosphere is calm. Nice patio area, and quick service. The Cuban Pig and the Spicy Tikka Chicken are amazing. Also don't sleep in their margs. Delicious. Stop here when you can!!!!

Nichole G.

Yelp
They are a tasty twist on tacos!! Lots of options if you're looking for something that you would have thought to put into a tortilla! We had a variety. BBQ pork was delicious. The tikki chicken was butter chicken and rice on the tortilla. It was like having it wrapped in Naan. The angus beef one was my least favorite but it was still good. And if you are in the mood for a drink their Sangrita swirl was amazing!!

Denise D.

Yelp
Another great trip to Velvet Taco! Im working my way through the menu, and todays choices were the Buffalo Chicken & the Fish & Chips. Both were excellent! What has impressed me is with every taco I've ordered, the protein has been perfectly cooked! There are quite a variety of types & cuisines, and they have nailed them all! I also love using the app so that my order is ready when I arrive. The ability to add and delete ingredients is a plus too. All in all, it's a solid experience and consistent food preparation every time!

Koushik S.

Yelp
Velvet Taco's Round Rock location provided a delightful dining experience during my recent visit. Having frequented the Domain location, the new spot upheld the brand's reputation for quick and tasty lunches. The trio of tacos I sampled showcased diverse flavors. The Sweet Chile Shrimp earned a perfect 5/5 rating, impressing with its savory goodness. The Nashville Hot Chicken lived up to its name, delivering a satisfying kick. The Spicy Chicken Tikka, true to its description, appealed to those with a penchant for fiery dishes. My son thoroughly enjoyed the Chicken Quesadilla, served in conveniently-sized portions. However, the absence of fresh lemonade was a slight letdown, as it had to be sourced from the soda machine. The beverage selection, including various cocktails and sangria, offered a diverse range to complement the meal. The availability of beer cans and sparkling water in the refrigerator was a thoughtful touch. Table service is not offered. Food can be ordered through app or at the counter They have indoor, outdoor seating and offer high chairs for kids. Overall, Velvet Taco's Round Rock establishment provided a positive experience with its flavorful tacos, though the absence of fresh lemonade slightly impacted the beverage choices. The variety of cocktails and sangria, along with the cool beverage options, contribute to making this spot a worthy choice for a quick and satisfying lunch.

Niki H.

Yelp
Solid fusion taco experience. I love the Cuban taco. The queso is pretty decent. I wish there was a chip option other than the blue corn, it's a bit thick. They take food allergies seriously and have notations on the ticketing system. There are plenty of drink options, canned beer/cider and some simple margaritas. Oh yeah, and the red velvet cake is surprisingly delicious.

Esther J.

Yelp
These taco was bust-in. I hate I didn't get a chance to take a picture because I was hungry and taking pictures wasn't giving at the time. The service was fast and was hot. The flow of the restaurant was a vibe for sure. I will be back to try other items on the menu

David W.

Yelp
The wife & I were invited to their soft opening to help train their staff. We had our choice of 2 tacos and a drink, which included a beer or Margarita. The meal was comped but you could kick in a "tip" that went to the Round Rock Service Center. I chose a chicken & waffle and a brisket, w/ a Yuengling Lager. The wife had a brisket taco and the Korean smash burger taco, with a margarita. All 4 tacos were very good ! I wouldn't mind coming back for those two again. Everyone was exceptionally polite & friendly. They have a nice covered patio. It's just unfortunate that they're right off I-35. That and Texas' patio season is pretty short. I think they will do very well.

Donna L.

Yelp
I've been to Velvet Taco in Dallas, San Antonio and The Domain in Austin. Always walked in to place my order to go or called in an order. Today I ordered at the drive up window, drove around to park in a designated spot and they brought it out to me. The young lady that took my order was great. She smiled the whole time! We talked about their limited options for jarritos (definitely missing the must have flavors pineapple, mandarin and tamarind) The team inside seemed to also have good spirits and a great connection in working together even though the location is new. My food was well prepared and quickly delivered to my vehicle. I'm sure I'll drive thru again!

Cece H.

Yelp
I went to this location last weekend. This was my first time going to a velvet taco and I will definitely be back. It was pretty busy for a Saturday night and the service was fast. The cashier gave me a few suggestions cause I'm not really a spicy girl so I opted for the picnic chicken taco and the elote with chips without the valentina. I was sort of scared of the picnic chicken taco because I didn't know how I would like potato salad on my taco but It was so good and delicious . The chips were blue tortilla. We sat outside on their little patio area which had comfortable chairs and wasn't too hot. I will definitely be back again for more. Also, my mom and her friend tried the tots and they really enjoy it! I'll have to try that next time

Victoria B.

Yelp
I wanted to love this place, and many features are excellent: very friendly and helpful service, an innovative menu, an excellent bar. I grew up in San Antonio, where tacos are a way of life (and flour tortillas are an abomination, but perhaps that last is just me). I believe with perfect faith that a good or great taco must begin with an excellent fresh and flavorful corn tortilla. My tortillas - missed the mark. I understand that really fresh corn tortillas are likely to break apart, dumping the contents down my chin, into my lap, onto the table, the floor. I. Don't. Care. I couldn't get past the damp cardboard texture and flavor. Please visit Velvet Taco! You probably love flour tortillas, excellent margaritas, conveniently located fast casual taco places and Thai queso (which is interesting and good, with blue corn chips). Ignore my corn tortilla ranting and raving. This is a good place worth at least two visits. Next time I will bring my own corn tortillas.

Chantel G.

Yelp
I'm often at the one at the domain n have tried most of the things by by far my favorite is the #3 spicy chicken tika masala ! Yelp
My husband and I had dinner at the Round Rock location of Velvet Taco last night. We started with the Elote Guac-this is a must have when you visit this restaurant. There is an explosion of flavors in every bite! For our entrées, my husband had the Buffalo chicken and I had the slow roasted Angus brisket. The chicken had just the right amount of spice and the meat was very moist. My beef was so tender and juicy and every bite had a wonderful mix of flavors. When we have out-of-town guest, Velvet Taco is always one of restaurants that we bring them to. They love the flavor combinations and the amount of food you get. No one has ever left hungry! And don't forget to get a margarita, they are delicious. Omar, the manager and his team always go above and beyond to make sure that your dining experience is wonderful.

Yelp
So this is my first time I went with the rotisserie potato salad chicken as my first taco the condiments on it were very good. The green salsa very tasty cilantro is fresh chicken was exceptionally dry the potatoes you can tub and sitting under a heat lamp for a while the tortilla was just your basic, large quant made tortilla. It wasn't even warmed up. It was best. Second taco was the beef chimichurri the beef had a good smoke. Chimichurri was OK just didn't have any real intense flavors like a true Mate trimmer should have boasting of herb flavor again. The tortilla was just your basic large quantity made tortilla not even warmed up. Third thing I got was the half-and-half, guacamole and corn salsa. Those were both very good guacamole tasted very fresh. The corn was creamy really nice flavor to it. The gentleman that waited on me was exceptionally nice. He suggested these tacos to me and I went with it unfortunately it just wasn't up to par . For $19 I should've got a really good two tacos in the side sorry thumbs down.

Yelp
Had high hopes for this place. First time trying it out and was surprised to be disappointed. $40 worth tacos and just not impressed. Service was very quick unfortunately our tacos were cold. It was pretty busy. Everyone there was nice. Just not a fan of the tacos.

Yelp
Not as good as the tacos I had in the Nashville location, but still pretty good. I tried the rotisserie chicken taco and while the toppings were flavorful the chicken was pretty bland. The chimmichuri steak was delicious as usual but seemed smaller than the last time I had one. My wife had the grilled salmon (yummy toppings, not as flavorful meat) and the Birria Duo which was lackluster at best. Service was friendly. Ambiance was standard for velvet taco. Tried to dine outdoors but the wind had other ideas.

Yelp
Tacos were so good. The selection allows for everyone to try something different. We ordered a large variety and the service was relatively quick.

Yelp
The new location is amazing!! We've been coming to velvet taco for years, and I am a big advocate for the paneer tacos & the tofu! The quality & portions of this new location are so nice! The staff is friendly & I'm super happy to have a closer location that we can go to more frequently!
