Venchi Chocolate & Gelato UES

When I first walked in I was greeted by this wonderful worker. She came over and greeted me with some samples of chocolates. I was furious in some gelato and she took her time explaining the flavors and I even asked her what her favorite flavors were too. The service was amazing and so was the atmosphere.

Amazing experience, thanks to staff member Nicole! Very patient and welcoming when we were making our selection. The ice cream was delicious, rich and not too sugary. Great first experience and impression.

An absolute gem of a place! However, even more precious is this employee Camilo and his coworker Nicole. They helped us sample various chocolates and made excellent recommendations regarding the gelato flavors. He even convinced us to get the hot chocolate.

The Gelato was so good. We tried a couple other places during our trip and agreed this was our favorite. One of my flavors had their chocolate mixed-in and you could tell it was a quality product. It was later in the evening and the store was not very busy. We sampled almost every flavor, lol. Service was perfect. Thank you!

Stopped by Venchi today for a hazelnut hot chocolate and it was absolutely delicious! Huge shoutout to Michael—his customer service was fantastic and made the visit even better. Will definitely be back!

Was impressed how well the staff took care of me. Not only that but how Venchi celebrates their customers on their birthday month. Bravo! Here’s to my pistachio affogato.

Rich and tasty. One cup of dark chocolate and it seems one is good for a day. Very expensive and high Italian quality.

Their ice cream is top tier and the hot coco is amazing. Wifey and I loved it. Nicole hosted us, best service and great customer service. Highly recommend

Venchi is an upscale Italian chain and is consistent across locations. Their gelato is authentic and the chocolate pick and mix is great. I recommend getting the cone with the chocolate and nuts on the outside and asking them to also put chocolate on the INSIDE of the cone. Trust me, it's the best ice cream cone you'll ever eat.

Ok though not really for me? Venchi is a chain that started in Italy, expanded around Europe, and now has locations in NYC and a handful of other US cities. This location is on Lexington between 77th and 78th, right next to Angelina Bakery. Their locations are consistent in design, colorful foil-wrapped chocolates lined up in clear column bins against the wall, chocolates in bars, boxes, individual bonbon form on shelves and in display cases. Some shops have gelato as well, they carry pretty standard gelato flavors and a few sorbets, the gelato is decent for NYC and prob better than your average suburban spot, though it's hard to stand out against the stiff ice cream competition. The chocolates have good flavors though the texture wasn't as creamy of smooth nor the chocolate flavor itself as chocolately as I would have hoped. For $13.90 for a quarter pound (that's $56/pound!) this needs to stand out in the top-range of chocolates I've ever tasted, which unfortunately it did not. Also I'm personally not a fan of their wrapper design and chocolate shapes, the foil kinda has an old school European candy store feel, but the bumpy exterior texture just comes off as messy and unpleasant-looking to me. I guess what I'm saying is I prefer my chocolates (and their wrappers) to look smooth the way that they taste. I do think some of their gift boxes are very festive and beautiful though. Kept this 3 stars since their staff was friendly and helpful, the store was clean and tidy, and the line for gelato moved pretty quickly on a warm day. A regular with 2 flavors in either cup or cone was $7.95, which falls in the general realm of NYC gelato prices these days.

I would give this place 4 star but lacking one due to staff issue and another to no assistance with buying chocolate. I ordered two regular cups. As I approached the staff who asked to look at my receipt to assist my order,he clearly did not pay attention to the QUANTITY I ordered. He was too busy talking to the customer behind me who was his friend. He wanted to assist his friend to give him the freebie while lacking the QUALITY of service for me. He only served me one cup and I'm asking to try more flavors for my 2nd cup, he already moved on to helping his friend. I had to tell another staff that I had one more cup, she then had to tell him to serve me before his friend. He clearly didn't like that and purposely given me less on the 2nd cup. I asked for tiramisu but I was given stracchiatella instead. To top that off, as I walked out the store I realized HE DID NOT give me my chocolate pieces. Completely unsatisfied with his service and attitude. I think I would choose another location instead. On the other hand, the gelato was very good. It was thick and creamy. It doesn't melt as fast as other gelatos. The pistachio is the real deal. The Venezuelan chocolate and hazelnut was really good - if you like dark chocolate then this is a good choice.

Review for the Venchi gelato only. My 2-flavor-in-a-cup treat was close to $9, incl. tax. (Added $$ for a cone, or to line cup or cone with chocolate and/or nuts.) Learned from the customer ahead of me who was told a few times to order first before can request any tasting, so I paid for mine and asked for a taste of pistachio. Not for me so went for my usual chocoviar (really love the dark chocolate flavor with grainy bits of (more) chocolate), and tried the Venezuelan chocolate with hazelnut (thicker, mousse-like texture, not too sweet and not Nutella-ey); topped with a dark chocolate piece. Loved it!

After having Anita Gelato, I had to try this place. I waited in a line not nearly as long as AG, and got a large with Tiramisu, Green Pistachio From Bronte, and Caramel Pannacotta. I did take note of their cups and cones encrusted with chocolate and nuts, but did not give that a try. I thought the Tiramisu was probably the best flavor of the three, but I think I chose well. I wish they had seating like AG has, rather than just a giant sales floor. As I'm sure most would be wanting to know how it stands up to AG, I do think I prefer the more imaginative and varied flavors from AG than Venchi, but this is a solid spot for Gelato if you don't want to wait in the kind of line that AG brings. I'll have to discover how well they do Chocolate another time.

Venchi is so delicious I had to visit every location. The first time I ate Venchi was when I found the location near 14th Street Union Square by accident. I had no idea I would find this location on Lexington Avenue. As soon as it warms up I'll be out having ice cream again. Venchi is creamy and has a smooth taste that to me is unique. It is a rich flavor so a scoop will satisfy my desire. They have a huge selection of chocolate candy and sweets. I'm just here for what I call the Gucci of Gelatos! I like the Espresso flavor. Try it......

Wanted something sweet after our lunch. Stopped by Venchi. Staff is super friendly. We couldn't decide if we wanted hot chocolate or gelato. A staff member brought us a sample of the hit chocolate. She also asked if we wanted to sample the gelato. We ordered a cup of tiramisu and a cup of milk and chocolate. Both were great. Not overly sweet. The sample of hot chocolate was good, too. It's just a little too rich and thick for me. They also sell chocolates and crepes. Great place for a treat.

A high end chocolate shop in New York with luxurious decoration. They have good ice cream and a wide selection of chocolate. Their strawberry + milk chocolate blend is my favorite.

I stopped in here today while wandering around, and was drawn in by the gift sets at the entrance. I like the DIY fill a bag station, but be warned, it's $13.50 per quarter pound, which adds up really quick! Great ice cream carriers in both cone and cup options. I took a nibble of their 85% dark, and it was a nice "not too sweet" mid day pick me up. This is an Italian brand chocolate cheer, and a nice change from the commonly known brand if you were looking for a gift. Delicious ice cream and specialty chocolate :) , served quickly and an enjoyable outdoor seating area. My entire family enjoyed the experience. Recommend for anyone needing a sweet tooth fix! On a side note, my child who typically has stomach sensitivity to ice cream had no issues with this type. Very happy about that!

We stopped by Venchi for gelato at this new spot in the upper east side! And it certainly rivals another gelato spot Anitta! We loved the flavors, but they did not have as many as Anitta. But the ones they have are delicious. Loved the coconut, dark chocolate and coffee. I also tried their tiramisu, which I will be getting next time!

I bought 2 small cups of gelato, which came out to a grand total of ... $17.70 (without tip!!) The gelatos are delicious and worth it, the sorbets were a little meh to me. They were icy and the server was having a difficult time scooping it out of the tub in the display case. We went for the small size because you're able to pick 2 different flavors/2 scoops. The pistachio gelato was wonderful. Raspberry sorbet was okay.

Amazing service, incredible chocolates, and one of the best hot chocolates in NYC. This place is a must try no matter which location you stumble across. This place ain't cheap so keep that in mind as you fill up your pay-per-pound chocolate baggy! I stopped in recently to try their hot chocolate and let me tell you it did not disappoint. A perfect winter weather treat! Next time, gelato!

We were standing across the street when my friend saw Venchi and had to go. I wasn't familiar with Venchi when she pointed it out, but I now know that it's a chain of chocolate stores (also known for its gelato) that started as a single chocolate shop in 1878 in Turin, Italy (by Silviano Venchi, who was only twenty at the time). 145 years later, they're all over the world selling chocolates and gelato. We didn't get gelato on our visit a few weeks ago (too close to a dinner I wasn't willing to be too full to enjoy), but we did get some chocolate covered candied oranges for a walk through Central Park. I would definitely return to this or another location! Tons of chocolates, lots of gelato flavors, great service, the cutest little shop!

TL;DR - solid sweets and gelato place with a good selection of gelato. Food - gelato was pretty good, but Botolino Gelato in Dallas, TX is still at the top of my list. Service - standard Ambiance - I loved the decor and lighting, which both made the place feel very luxurious and high class.

I have been dreaming of going back to Venchi since I had it. Delightful and marvelous gelato, the flavors are our of this world, is this what gelato tastes in Italy? Will have a chance to try and come back and leave a follow-up review because this is by far one of the best gelatos I've had. I cannot believe I had not heard about this place before. I remember I had cookies and cream flavor with melted chocolate in my cup and OMG. Totally recommend!!!

AZTECO - velvety and thick, high quality dark chocolate and the best dark chocolate gelato I've had, with a richness that will make your heart sing if you're a dark chocolate lover. It's a strong flavor and may kill your other flavor choices though so choose wisely STRAWBERRY Couldn't taste this much since the azteco was so strong but it was thick and refreshing The gelato here is quite thick compared to some other places. Service was kind - but you can't try flavors when you get in line to order. You have to be committed to order if you get in the ordering line. Vibe is luxey, lots of chocolates available which I didn't try. TIP: if you do toogoodtogo you can get their chocolate!

Fancy chocolate , ice cream / gelato, shakes, crepe venue. Lots of exciting sugary treats. Main counter sells gelato scoops, various flavours and options. You can have the cone dipped in some extra fancy chocolate or nougat sprinkles for an extra charge. They also do crepes and shakes. The rear of the store has tons of chocolates and premium candy, would be good for bringing as a gift for someone. They have a few small tables outside.

Wow some scrumptious gelato. Hella expensive but really good flavors. The hazelnut was to die for.

Sooo so happy to see a Venchi open up in the UES! Their chocolate flavors are the richest I've ever had and tastes exactly like the Venchi locations I frequented in Italy.

If you really love gelato and are willing to pay a lot for it, Venchi is the perfect spot for you. Many of my friends claim this is the best gelato spot ever, and I can see why they like it! The flavors are all very authentic, very nut and chocolate heavy except for the sorbets. They have some cool toppings and dipped cones in chocolate running from a faucet, but it will cost extra. I got a baby cone and the total was like $8, so my only complaint is the pricepoint. Otherwise it's a beautiful store with a bit of outdoor seating, nice for the summer.

Beautiful and bright storefront, long lines even in the evenings, and family friendly. They serve delicious, creamy, high quality ice cream and desserts, as well as have a large selection of gourmet chocolates in premade sets as well as a make your own goody bag.

Karen is the best worker there I had a really great experience with her working thank you for your time and undivided attention.

This was a fun spot to go to. I sampled 3 flavors, didn't like any of them, got something different, and didn't like that much either. I would rather to to Van Leeuwen's. Customer service was impressive, though!

Delicious gelato. The Azteco is really as powerful as they say- wow! The Venezuelan hazelnut is fantastic.

Delicious gelato! I got the "regular cone" that comes with 2 scoops (could choose 2 different flavors). The Venezuelan hazelnut chocolate and pistachio was so yummy! They have a selection of sweet, tangy, and fruity flavors. The coconut was also delicious! You're able to sample the flavors and they give complimentary chocolate on top afterwards! They have crepes and chocolate candies for sale. My cone was $8.44 after tax. My pistachio had a smaller scoop size but it is very rich and flavorful, so it filled me up and I was satisfied! They have chocolate covered cones and cups too. No seats. Card and cash accepted. Staff is kind.

Amazing customer service. Special thanks to the staff Rent, Karen, & Jey. They are the best and took care of our orders. Definitely the best place to get your cool down with those fancy ice cream or gelato treats. Love the appearance of the retail space and layout of attention to detail. This is the place to be!

How does one even start a review for a place that unlocked a core memory while traveling in Rome eating gelato? We had the "baby" size gelato for dessert and it was delicious! Velvety and fresh, flavor was perfectly balanced in sweetness. We ordered raspberry and Stracciatella, so good! We did not add anything to them or the cups. We also purchased a box of chocolates and handmade orange peel covered in chocolate. Fefy, the store manager was friendly, and suggested some flavors to try. The store is full of beautiful colors and modern lighting which was a reminder of a candy store! They have a few tables with chairs outside to sit and enjoy your gelato.

I ordered the hot chocolate and my friend got the chocolate crepe with ice cream. Both items were so delicious and rich. Service was also great, they helped us decide what we wanted and gave us great suggestions.

What a fantastic and delicious addition to the neighborhood. A group of us arranged a chocolate tasting. The young man who hosted us was warm, helpful and knowledgeable. We got to try a number of different chocolates including their signature Chocoviar which has incredible texture as well as taste. Honestly, they are all gorgeous and also so yummy. I'm a pistachio lover and theirs are the best I've ever had. Now I get a small bag of the pick and mix about once a month. Such a treat!

Venchi is amazing! It has a variety of chocolates that you could choose from. They have an ice cream parlor with other treats that you could get. I recommend it to anyone with a sweet tooth!

Stopped in today for a Valentine's Day gift. Jeremy was SO kind and helpful. Helped me decide what to buy and even let me sample the chocolate and espresso! Lovely shop, with darling decor and the chocolates are AMAZING. Jeremy made the experience!

Have gone twice and have found the chocolates and gelato to be less than great, especially considering the price. The service is fine and there is rarely a wait but overall the taste and quality is not that good.

Although, the chocolate and gelato are good, the overall experience leaves much to be desired. Considering the high price, one would expect their products and customers to be treated with respect. One (of several) disappointing examples: On a recent visit, I selected several small pieces which are sold by the pound. After carefully making my selections of assorted chocolates, I was appalled to find that the staff person squashed them into a small plastic bag. I asked if there was a box available to, more appropriately, pack them to prevent the flavors from running onto each other. Additionally, the presentation was cheap and not consistent with how Venchi promotes itself. I was then informed that if I preferred my selections to be placed in a box, there would be an additional charge. How ludicrous! Don't waste your money. I felt unappreciated as a customer, and the customer next to me said the response of the staff was absurd, and walked out of the store.
