"Run by Alan Costantino since the 1970s, this Italian food emporium is an ideal place to kick off a jaunt through famed Federal Hill, Providence’s historically Italian enclave. Like a smaller, mom-and-pop version of Eataly, Venda is filled to the brim with gastronomic delights, including hunks of Parmigiano-Reggiano and aged Asiago, fresh and frozen pasta (try the popular lobster ravioli), and pantry staples. If the weather’s nice, order an Aperol spritz and margherita pizza from the restaurant arm of the business, Costantino’s, to enjoy by the fountain on Venda’s outdoor patio in DePasquale Square." - Jenna Pelletier

I go here every Saturday and I usually get a coffee. The store is amazing and usually has a lot of items that I can't get at a normal store. It's an amazing place for people that cook, the atmosphere is inviting and the staff are always extremely helpful and informative, they have an amazing deli as well as hot and ready to go food just in case you're a little bit hungry! They also have a little gelato section with cappuccinos which are my favorite! During the summer it's always nice to sit outside either on the street which they have tables for or off to the side near the fountain! I highly recommend this place even if it's just to check it out!

Google
I have been buying delicious homemade cheese ravioli here for over 30 years. They also have a wide variety of frozen ravioli and sauces. They have the best Italian ham.

Marco Succi

Google
This is what I got for a $75 order of stuffed mushrooms for Christmas. I gave them 4 days notice about this order. They tasted okay, but this is not what I expected. It was clear they ran out of normal sized caps and used far too small options to fulfill the order.

Google
I love this traditional Italian market with fresh bread, gelato, coffee bar and homemade tiramisu as well! They provide seating area indoor to enjoy the food that you order from the market. Variety of homemade pastas and ravioli to choose from like a jewelry box! Good quality of meat and cheeses as well. Homemade pasta sauces to pair with different pastas. Highly recommended!

Google
Great market! I had a delicious lunch by combining several containers of takeout mozzarella cheese, tomato salad, artichoke salad, olives, and a loaf of bread. Yummy Italian food!

Google
I am sad to say that I will No longer be referring my friends nor family to Constantinos and Venda Ravioli…. After coming for years during my time in Providence I will no longer be eating at this establishment! The service is no longer providing an enjoyable evening! Between getting hung up on ordering food or making a reservation and waiting 35-40 minutes to get water and bread at your table it no longer has my heart nor wallet! Do Better !!

Google
so grateful to see my favorite server Callie back in action!! the service was amazing as always, it was such a pleasant surprise to be able to experience her service again

James C.

Yelp
Great place to come in and get a variety plate warmed up for you to sit down and quickly eat. Feels like homemade quality mom and pops. Good ole' Italian cooking. And if you want to sit down for a nice meal and be served, you can go across the courtyard to the restaurant and have a great meal. Desserts are over priced especially when you have a gourmet, fine desserts location called pastiche maybe 100 yards away . They really need to do something about their prices on the cannolis and tiramisu

jarrchell b.

Yelp
One of my FAVORITE after work drink places! Service is always great! I mean ALWAYS! Does not matter if you are inside or outside, you will always get the full ambiance of the restaurant!!

Kristen S.

Yelp
I am a 43 year old Italian (1/2) girl who went to elementary school in Cranston-My grandfathers name is Arioste Mario Pirolli-how the heck have I not reviewed this place yet?! Ive probably been here 200 times. What is there to say? Italian market with so many choices. Friendliest staff. Espresso counter with desserts. A staple on Federal Hill and for all of Rhode Island.

Zoe S.

Yelp
It's a grocery store and they had a little cafe in the corner. I have the biggest sweet tooth and I had to get gelato was blown away by their prices.

Ashlee M.

Yelp
Always delicious. Been coming here since as long as I can remember. My grandmother loved the deli and would come here weekly. We sat outside on a busy Sunday afternoon- the place was packed. Luckily they were able to squeeze in our walk in party of 4! We purchased a pitcher of red sangria which was delicious and we then split a pizza, a penne all's vodka, a Cobb salad, and a few other appetizers. Everything was DELICIOUS. We then went in the bakery to buy some of Alicia's famous cookies but unfortunately there were only two left- which we definitely purchased! The food here is always delicious. I have NEVER had a bad meal here. The ambiance on Federal Hill today was electric with families, singles and everyone out! We enjoyed the Al fresco dining and I will be back as I have been for the past 36 years!

John B.

Yelp
Awesome spot with great selection of meats and cheeses. The selection of frozen and fresh raviolis are phenomenal! Park in back, worth the ride!

Kerrie D.

Yelp
Venda is an institution on Federal Hill in Providence. A big, overflowing Italian market offering prepared food, fresh bread, coffee drinks and a whole lot more. I love Venda and am a regular customer for the following reasons: The incredible selection of house made ravioli, tortellini and tortelloni Large eggplant parm sandwiches to go for under $10 Truly excellent almond biscotti Four different kinds of fresh mozzarella In the warmer weather, you can take all of your food outside and sit in the plaza The staff; sometimes salty, sometimes hilarious, but always friendly If you are visiting Federal Hill for the first time, there are a lot of wonderful stops to make. 100% make Venda Ravioli one of your stops!

Alexandra M.

Yelp
Cute shop with a huge selection of homemade ravioli in all shapes. Huge selection of tons of other items as well.

Michael L.

Yelp
First time to Venda. We walked federal hill and we decided to pick up some food and go home and eat. We walked in and was greeted by a couple that owned the place. They had a wine tasting and we picked out a few bottles. We ordered fried vegetables, fresh mixed olives, chicken parmigiana, fresh cheese and pepperoni. Everything was awesome. The staff was right their for any questions we had. Loved the little place. They have a lot to offer. I'll be back!

Lauren D.

Yelp
All the prepared food is amazing. I also love the sauce and fresh pasta. We buy things often when I'm looking for a delicious easy meal!

Jade V.

Yelp
hostess needs to be fired. Bleached blonde girl with blacks roots. Super disrespectful and had no consideration towards our family, even tho we had made our reservation months ago. She was very disrespectful telling my family we only had 2 hours to eat our food even tho we were celebrating my daughter 's graduation. It's not like we're spending hundreds of dollars on drinks and meals. The food is amazing but this lady needs to learn about customer service. Why are you hiring these people!!

John R.

Yelp
Bought several things from fresh baked bread to balsamic chicken, chicken cacciatore and some hot chicken soup. All delicious and fed us for 4 days. Prices were reasonable and well worth the trip.

Alexandria W.

Yelp
Ordered the Italian grinder, bread was extremely hard and tough to chew. There wasn't a lot of meat on the sandwich , but what was there for meats was sliced nice and thinly. Sandwich had roasted reds too, not sure if that's typical for an Italian but it wasn't pleasant. Would come again but try something else and hopefully get some bread that's not hard as a hockey puck.

Hillary D.

Yelp
Awesome place , lots of authentic recipes and imported goods. The staff is very helpful .

Jane H.

Yelp
Fabulous selection of tantalizing foods and gifts year-round! When I walk through the door It is transporting me...the beautiful displays draw you in, everyone is helpful but never pushy, and the selection is overwhelming so I have my list of items I want to pick up. For me it's like being a kid again and I look forward to going every time. When I am planning a party, I love to enhance my menu by adding a few specialties from Venda :) Happy holidays. I'll be there this week!!

Stephanie T.

Yelp
The Federal Hill Commerce Association hosts an Annual Columbus Day Festival on historic Federal Hill. We had the fresh cheese ravioli and meatballs from Venda Ravioli. It was $12 for a plate and it was a big serving for 2 people to share. The ravioli and meatball with sauce tasted really fresh.

Amber M.

Yelp
Great variety of packaged and premade foods. They have a curated selection of imported items like yummy Italian biscuits, vinegars and oils. I like getting the lemon olive oil here and these delicious honey biscuits in yellow bags. Like their name implies, they have ravioli. All kinds of unique flavors and shapes like artichoke, mushroom, and even lobster. They also have a by weight food area where you can get premade stuff, olives, cheese, cured meats etc. I think one of their more underrated things is their gelato bar! It's actually pretty good and was maybe $2 for a scoop -- a great deal!!

Julia O.

Yelp
This used to be one of my favorite stops on my walks in Providence-no more. I felt like I was bothering the deli guy - there is gruff and fun and gruff and mean. This guy was the latter. The young woman working with him wasn't much more. The gentleman behind me finally gave up and left. It's like it's YOUR privilege that they even speak to you, let alone slice up your order. The meat was sliced perfectly though. But I won't be back. i'll go down the street to Tony's Colonial and get my provisions there. The restaurant in the courtyard was full of families even on a Tuesday afternoon. I hadn't been to Providence since pandemic times and I was so happy to be back! it's such a fabulous city to walk around! I'll be skipping this place when i'm back next week. Disappointed!

Anthony B.

Yelp
This is my personal favorite place to go in Federal Hill. The food is incredible, the atmosphere is warm and the wait staff are very friendly. Always a great experience. 5/5

Marie B.

Yelp
Grazie mille Kevin, for your help in tracking down some of Venda's dolci fantastici!! Looooooove the entire vibe of Venda, and perhaps most of all the fact that its profumo transports me back to my nonna's kitchen.

Kim D.

Yelp
Food and service is absolutely amazing here best Italian food you cannot go wrong. Love the raviolis.

Jesse L. R.

Yelp
Come on, it's Venda. Everyone that has even visited Rhode Island knows this place! They seriously have half of Italy in this store! If you can think of it, they likely have it somewhere. We were in the mood for some stuffed shells and manicotti. Walked in the door and there it is behind the counter! With a huge team of friendly staff to help, we were loaded up in no time. What can no Italian dinner go without? Fresh bread of course, and they have loads of it to choose from! The handled everything like professional food handlers, so there was nothing to fear. Just get your food and get ready for your own Italian feast! One of the best parts about Venda is that you get quality food at a fair price. You can feed an army for the cost of going to a fast food restaurant. So if you have not been here yet, why not head there today?

Amanda C.

Yelp
Out to dinner with my dad who hasn't been in RI in over 30 years at a nice restaurant and there are guys behind us being loud and high-fiving the bartender, making plans later to meet up wjth them for drinks etc. obviously friends, ok cool i get it. I've worked in the industry. Networking, socializing etc totally fine. But this was different-- super unprofessional and rude. The employees and patrons were legit reaching over our shoulders as we ate and tried to have a nice dinner to fist bump/high-five etc and there were so many of them. Food was good but the experience was not great based on mr popular ovaaa heaaaa.

Jennifer M.

Yelp
I just love coming here browsing around looking at all of the delicious food in their cases and all of the specialty grocery items that they stock! The staff is always very helpful and friendly and that to me is just as important as the food and goods they serve!! Their freshly baked bread is so delicious as well!! I am going to make it a habit to start coming here a couple times a month because the prices are more than fair and it all tastes so damn good!!! We came home with a fresh loaf of bread, stuffed shells and stuffed manicotti! What a great meal!!

Joseph R.

Yelp
The service at the Venda deli counter was not good. We have been going there for over 20 years and it isn't what it used to be for service and quality. Slow decline.

Melissa W.

Yelp
Where to start with this... we went to Venda looking to get an Italian sandwich, a chicken Parm sandwich and a chicken cutlet sandwich with lettuce and tomato. Turns out the chicken cutlets are precooked and cold, if you want a hot one they microwave it! Plus they cut the cutlet up into pieces. I couldn't believe it. Got the chicken Parm for the people who we were ordering that for... they did not care for it. Cold cut up check and almost no sauce. The Italian... got two of these since I was not going to east s cold Penne or microwaved cutlet. one slice of each meat on each half. So 4 meats and only two slices of each on the whole sandwich. They were out of soft bread so we got the crusty ones... wow, it cut the roof of my mouth and I could not bite or chew it, I had to take half the bread off. Didn't even bother to finish the sandwich. In the trash they went. Too bad. $34 down the drain. Can't say we will ever go back there. The name is hyped up but the food definitely does not live up to it. So so disappointed...

Jv M.

Yelp
Huge Italian sub... grinder! It's on that delicious bread that hurts the roof of your mouth a bit, but in a good way. We got some delicious frozen ravioli too. Wish I had brought a cooler! Fantastic stuff.

Si B.

Yelp
We ordered catering from here twice in the last month. It was unbelievable and a great value as well. We ordered the balsamic chicken, eggplant parmigiana, and chicken Marsala. My favorite was the eggplant parm but my husband can't stop raving about the balsamic chicken This will be my go to spot for catering going forward! Their vodka sauce is also so tasty, and when you walk in you can browse all of the different sauces in the fridge, as well as other Italian specialty items. Parking can be a little tough to find on the street depending on when you go, so pick a strategic pick up time! I also recommend paying ahead for an easier check out.

Scott A.

Yelp
Came on a Sunday night. Busy, loud, terrible service. Every server was handing me off to another. It took me a half hour to order. I won't be back.

David C.

Yelp
Five stars. Extremely good Italian grocer, larger than Colonial Grocery, and more modern. Customer service is excellent. I'm not docking any stars from Colonial, though. It'll be tough choosing between the two in the future. I'll probably split my order out of deference to both.

Jan R.

Yelp
My daughter and I went here on the morning of Mother's Day. Neither of us felt like cooking and we wanted some good food. We got there early and we had to wait for the food to be put out which was fine. We got coffee at the café and brought it outside and sat in the Square and enjoyed the morning. We went back in and looked at the prepared foods and made our choices for a little Buffet for Mother's Day. They had amazing choices. Some of the some items were not fresh that day which is to be expected but when I asked about the scungilli and when it was made they said it could've been a week or more. Just the fact that they weren't sure when it was made turned me off and so we didn't get that although I would've enjoyed it. The foods that we got were mostly cheeses, deli meats, some meatballs and other goodies. They are all very good and we enjoyed the selection. The peas and mushrooms were amazing. Unfortunately when we went in there was a woman behind there food counter who had her mask under her nose which made me feel extremely uncomfortable. I mentioned it to the man who was helping us and he did remind her to put it over her nose as well. As we were checking out I noticed two men walked behind us and out the door and neither one had a mask on. That was totally unacceptable for me. And then when I turned around I could see the same woman behind the counter with her mask completely off. This made me feel extremely uncomfortable and I felt that my safety wasn't a top concern there.

Jennifer M.

Yelp
Always a great selection of prepared food, olives, meats, cheeses and home made pastas. Warning never shop there while you are hungry as you will leave with half the store

Paul C.

Yelp
Great food, friendly help ... parking the only challenge at times particularly in the evenings. Worth the inconvenience

Kristen S.

Yelp
Venda has long been the cornerstone of DePasqualle Square and is known for feeding the stomachs and souls of the people who visit there. Time seems to stand still in this family run neighborhood establishment which features prepared foods and sandwiches, deli and cheese cases, plus fresh meats and specialty grocery. Walking in, you are transformed to another world and all of your senses instantly come alive. There is so much to look at and take in as you discover all that this shop has to offer, so, take your time and explore! The folks that work behind the counter are friendly and helpful and although they work in one big open space, they each specialize in a specific area. Simply walk up to the counter you wish to learn more about and they will come over to answer questions, make suggestions, and package your items. Pro Tip: go first thing in the morning to get first pick at everything they are putting out for the day PLUS have the advantage of shopping with no crowds. There's also a very small cafe tucked away in the corner where you can get a gelato, cannoli, or espresso drink to enjoy while you shop. Don't forget to pick up a package of Venda's famous homemade ravioli and sauce in the refrigerated cases along the wall. There are dozens of flavor combinations to choose from and make for a quick and delicious meal you can make and enjoy at home. There is limited seating inside if you want a quick place to eat your sandwich or enjoy something you just purchased from the cases and during the summer this expands to al fresco table service seating outside the shop. They also own a full service restaurant in the building directly across the way if you'd prefer a sit down leisurely meal. We enjoy building our own gift baskets each Christmas for the different members of our family that we customize and fill to fit each persons likes and preferences. We have so much fun selecting and shopping for the perfect items and always make sure to bring home something for us too!

Ellen G.

Yelp
This store has a huge selection of canned, dried and fresh foods. It was the first time I have been and I wasn't disappointed. The wait staff was attentive and helpful. The price was good. I purchased the ravioli and tortellini, authentic Parmesan cheese and prosciutto. Everything was delicious! I highly recommend this store

Lauren M.

Yelp
Pregnancy cravings hit hard today! I was on a hunt for a caprese sandwich and found it at Venda. It was easy to order via Uber Eats and then pick up. Parking was a breeze day after Xmas, but it can be difficult on other days. The sandwich was large and delicious, although I was bummed they didn't prepare it as requested (hold the prosciutto since I can't eat it). I have been here a few times over the years. It's a solid spot to get pasta, sauce, prepared foods, cold cuts, or sandwiches. I still miss New York Italian delis, though!

Rosanell J.

Yelp
Came here for late-night drinks. Vibe was very chill, the drink selections were amazing.

Danielle C.

Yelp
As an Italian, it's important to me to find places that have the foods that I grew up with. I used to frequent Venda but over the years have found myself less than impressed with the quality, service and atmosphere. I went in this morning to get supplies for a trip and no lie, I was the only person in there, there were 6 men behind the counters ball busting with each other. I stood there for 6 minutes without anyone asking if I needed anything. Finally this guy helped me. Without asking if I needed anything else, walked away. Ok.. so I go around the other side to get some olives. Again, standing there ... forever (still the only person there) I asked if I could get some help and the guy said "I don't know what you want me to tell you." So I left and went to Italian Corner where they know how to slice prosciutto and treat you like family. Long story short just because you're an institution doesn't mean you deserve to be.

Linda A.

Yelp
What can I say that hasn't been said? This place is a RI staple. An Italian gem. A culinary gift. With the deli items, prepared foods, specialty grocery items, house baked bread, hand made pastas, cafe, and gelato station, you can't really ask for much more. The business is run intelligently, authentically, and with great customer appreciation. I've never stopped in and failed to spark up a conversation with a staff member. It's just so perfect in so many ways.

J R.

Yelp
This place never disappoints! Food presentations are truly amazing and so organized and clean and the aromas or food and fresh coffee are very enticing! You can not shop without bringing home at least something to enjoy in your own home! For an Italians or Italian Americans can feel they are in Italy! Fresh Cheeses, ColdCuts, Meats, Salads and more is a cornucopia of tastes for your palate! Don't go to Providence and miss this Hidden Jewel!

Jamie W.

Yelp
Food was ok when I came here growing up it was much better staff was very rude I asked for something else it was like I was a bother and the filling in the stuffed shells and manicotti didn't taste that great

Andres A.

Yelp
Love this place. You can buy anything Italian at this place. As soon as you walk in you are in a trance with all the amazing smells. The coolers are filled with all type of goodies to take home. From cured meats, cheeses, olives and prepared foods-all delicious. You can buy meats and fresh pasta to take home and prepare. I loved this place it reminded me of places back home where we purchase all our Italian delicacies. If you don't see what you are looking for I am sure they will find it for you. Italian market/deli/restaurant at it's best

Andrea P.

Yelp
This place is amazing. They have a huge deli case with prepared foods, meats and cheeses and a huge case of home made ravioli. They have so many different kinds from eggplant to sweet potato to lobster. The lobster ravioli is stuffed to the brim, and if your not a savvy in the kitchen you can buy their home made sauces. I like to come here for an iced cappuccino and a frittata sandwich for breakfast. They have a big coffee bar with gelato. I'm sure I'm missing a few other things so you better check I it out for yourself

Shari W.

Yelp
I love to come to this Italian specialty store and wander around. The experience is like stepping into Italy. The cheese and meats, the prepared foods, the grocery items, there is so much to see. I've tried many things, but I never, ever leave the store with out fresh pasta. I've tried all the different colors and shapes. My current favorite is the jumbo ziti. Tossed with fresh chopped tomatoes, fresh chunks of mozzarella cheese, torn basil leaves and good olive oil, there is nothing like it for a true taste of Italian summer. Hint, ask for the fresh lasagna sheets which are kept behind the counter. Once you make lasagna with them, there is no going back to the boxed noodles!

Brandon L.

Yelp
Venda is a reliable, small market on Federal Hill that is great for quick eats, a sit-down meal, or just to walk around in awe of the choices. Known obviously for their homemade pastas, Venda also has some excellent salads, antipasto, meats, cheeses, and sandwiches. Stuffed shells and manicotti are a go-to. Ready-made, and they heat it up in-store if you're dining in. Ricotta is fresh, fluffy and creamy. Four stuffed shells will barely cost you $4, making for a filling meal with no-frills.

David B.

Yelp
Grabbed a couple of coffee's and some frozen Lobster Ravioli with Pink vodka sauce on the side. Very Good. Recommended.

Alexandra N.

Yelp
we came to celebrate finishing the bar exam (never thought i would) and VR made it a really special night for us. due to the pandemic, we sat outside in the piaza away from other patrons. the staff was great about sanitizing the table and everyone around us wore masks the entire time, which made me feel a little better about being outside. the food was fantastic. i had the butternut squash ravioli, which is a recurring seasonal offering. i had heard about it a month prior and it was all i could think about -- likely pushing me to finish the exam, ha! the espresso martini was great and our other apps were tasty and fresh. service was great. it was busy so we were left alone quite a bit, which i really appreciate. whenever we were in need, our server was there quickly to help, but otherwise let us be.

Alaina C.

Yelp
My food dish was good, but my boyfriend got served cold raviolis and I wasn't finished with my meal yet and the servers took it from me. It was an okay experience. The pizza though was really good.

Dawn C.

Yelp
The food and outdoor ambience were enough for 5 stars, but the experience was just too sloppy to give more than 4. First, I managed to find parking after deciphering the hieroglyphics that are timecontingent-maybeloadingzone-notbetweenthesigns parking mess that is Atwells. I walked in with confidence after being told by a regular that the dining area is in the back so just look for a host at the stand. Marched up to said stand and stood there. And stood there. And after 5 minutes, I flagged a deli person, who told me to go all the way to the back, which has no stand and was by the bathroom... Did that. Asked to sit outside. Was told there is a hostess stand outside for that. Harrumph. Got a nice table with a good view of the fountain and ordered an Aperol spritz. Was a bit strong for me, but sippable. Asked the servers recommendation and ordered the gnocchi for lunch. I was totally happy with this dish. The sauce was so fresh you could smell the basil. The gnocchi were perfectly made and perfectly cooked. Just yum. I really think I would come back here now that I get the flow, but I think they are probably scaring off some newbie diners with the confusing layout.

Linda S.

Yelp
Just ordered an antipasto salad and eggplant parmigiana sandwich from this restaurant. Did not like the salad at all. Tons of banana peppers, and the meat was in chunks, some very fatty. There were only 2 chunks of cheese - two. Small chunks of I think it was provolone cheese. The balsamic vinaigrette burned my mouth. The lettuce was spring mix, which I found to be an odd choice. Eggplant was just okay. I expected way more delicious food from this restaurant according to their reputation! Delivery was quick through Door Dash.
