We came here as a group to celebrate my birthday, and it was a really fun and memorable evening. The service was impeccable—attentive, friendly, and made the night feel special. We opted for the 7-course dinner with wine pairings, which was a great experience overall. One of the courses was two citrus slices soaked in rum, served as a palate cleanser. While creative, we personally didn’t feel it quite stood up as a full course. My brother, who has dined here before, mentioned he preferred the courses from previous seasons—but of course, tastes vary. All in all, it was a wonderful night out and a unique dining experience.

We were pleased we were able to get a same day Thursday night 8PM reservation; tho it required 4 calls to the restaurant. The first 3 dropped straight to VM. We hoped that there would be specials as the online menu lacked carne choices. When we arrived there was one other table with 2 guests, and we thought perhaps it's a sign? Considering the gentleman at the host station was so kind, we decided to stay. We were greeted by this beautiful note on our table suggesting to appreciate and live in the moment. That is a lovely touch. I requested to see the wine list to order a bottle of champagne and was a little surprised that there were so many very pricey options and very few in a reasonable price range. Okay, we figured we'd roll the dice since I did want to taste Lady Gaga's Dom. So two things happened here: the restaurant does not have proper glasses for champagne, and the champagne was served slightly warm, so it was too bubbly. That was remedied after the first glass as it sat in its ice bucket. Before the champagne was brought out, a server came to the table and wanted to talk to us about how the menu works? I kindly requested if we could have our champagne delivered first and relax into the experience. I fear I offended him. There are no specials as they curate their menu. Fair enough; our server was able to recommend a few dishes that sounded delicious. The chef's amuse-bouche was delicious. I ordered the Bolognese. Funny enough, the server said it's impossible to mess up a Bolognese. . . But yes, it is possible. A Bolognese is more than crumbled ground beef atop pasta, which is basically this restaurant's rendition of a Bolognese. I tried to remedy it by ordering ricotta cheese and asking for salt and pepper (which was not offered at service); alas, I was unable to make the dish enjoyable. The beef tartare was delicious. The server recommended a pork dish that was beautifully presented and delicious at first bite. As I ate more, it got increasingly drier. This part of the pork was described as very fatty, perhaps my peice was just slightly overcooked? I remedied this by requesting additional sauce as it was plated the fancy way with very little of the accoutrement. That did help. Though I was extremely disappointed with the dried up potato rosette. Yes, I requested to have potato with the pork, and I guess the chef wasn't pleased with my ask. It was impossible to cut the fennel because the knife was simply not sufficient. It would have been preferred for the kitchen to remove the orange rinds as they can be bitter. No one came to the table to follow up after serving food courses. The seafood dish was delicious. Espresso is very, very good. Tiramisu lacked sufficient flavor; the lady fingers were not soaked long enough in the espresso. This resulted in a dry desert. It also appears that it might have been a little old, as you can tell from the photo, the cocoa on top reflects that the desert was not made that day. Did appreciate that the waiter explained that tips are embedded in their food cost. Though, it was not proactively communicated when the check was dropped. The Medieval Time service charge communicated in other reviews is interesting. And all my travels to Italia, perhaps I wasn't paying attention. Wink. Overall, it was an okay dining experience. We chalked it up to being in Salt Lake City rather than in the metropolitan areas we typically frequent.

The food was delicious and the service quite nice. The filet was perfectly cooked and presented beautifully. The neighborhood is questionable, though, that is largely out of their control. But, the $75 corkage fee is outrageous, especially when their wine list, while containing some decent Italian wines, is not comprehensive enough to warrant such an exorbitant charge when one knows what they like to drink. For a place that claims to be so passionate about wine, and even offer its patrons a wine club membership, it feels deeply disrespectful to gouge fellow wine drinkers with that price. It is due to this we will not return. That said: if you do not partake in libations, the food is good and of generally good value.

We have been here twice and each time the food, atmosphere, and especially the service has been standout. By far our favorite restaurant for a nice dinner date. We love the small size of the restaurant and the atmosphere complements it well. The service is always very attentive and ultra professional, but with great personalities! It really feels like they want you to feel taken care of. The no tip policy is a very nice aspect, because the prices aren’t even higher than you would expect from some similar establishments, and I really support paying good wages and not making servers depend on tips. We are planning to come back many more times.

Update March 2025- 5 stars! What an incredible experience here. We came here for our good friend's birthday and we had a party of 9. Our other friend contacted the owners and they offered to make a curated menu according to my friends' budget. It was absolutely amazing, the flavors were incredible, and the hospitality is unlike any other place we have been to. True Italian establishment ♥️ and to top it off, they do not accept tips as that is offensive in Italy. We will be back time and time again! And of course, the best wine list you can find! Really lovely experience at Veneto for my birthday! Such a cute, fancy, and quaint atmosphere. The staff is excellent! Big wine selection and great beef tartare. I haven't liked beef tartare before until I tried theirs. In terms of flavor profiles, I wish there were more sauces and flavors with the dishes but that isn't the true Italian way from what I understand, so I don't hold it against them. Very authentic. They also gave me a box of delicious house-made almond cookies that I LOVEDDDD. Definitely worth a try. Super romantic.

I have been wanting to try this place for years, and it did not disappoint! The portions are small, but all of the foods are super unique and flavorful. My personal favorites were the tartare, gnocchi, tortellini, and affogato. The gnocchi was so creamy and smoky, I've never tasted anything like it. They have some kind of special smoky flavor they add that (I think) is from Italy. The server described it much better, lol. The affogato... probably the best I've ever had. They add a crunchy cake to it, in addition to the espresso and ice cream that make it so unique. I will definitely be back to try other items after I sell my left kidney for some extra spending money. (Joke)

Absolutely love this place. The service, food and wine were impeccable during our visit. In fact, the staff chased us down the street to ensure we had our takeout in hand after we left it on the table after paying. Can't do better than this spot!

Google
This is where you can go in Salt Lake City to enjoy a seasonally updated tasting menu with wine pairings that is always excellent. Of course the regular menu is wonderful as well and the extensive wine list is full of bottles I’ve not seen anywhere else in Utah. There’s no other place like Veneto around here. I’ll also note that I have some food allergies which can be difficult to navigate, but they’ve always easily modified the dishes for me if necessary.

Yelp
Food was so delicious! We chose to order family style and share. Not even a crumb was left on the plates. Wine suggestion was spot on. The eggplant melted in your mouth, the branzino was perfecto. Highly recommend.

Yelp
One of the best dining experiences I've ever had. Went to Veneto on 7/16/2026 and was absolutely blown away. The food was incredible every dish was thoughtful, beautifully plated, and packed with flavor. But what really made the night unforgettable was our server. He was attentive, professional, and made the whole experience feel elevated without being pretentious. He took the time to explain the menu, pair the wines perfectly, don't forget the beer and made us feel genuinely taken care of. You can tell he takes pride in what he does. Restaurants like this are rare, and staff like him are even rarer. I truly hope he gets recognized he made our night. We'll 100% be back.

Yelp
Cozy, authentic Italian experience. They have a huge wine list and selection that fits most but not all budgets. Nice staff, decent portions, romantic atmosphere. Despite this, I wouldn't go back. Our steak came out so raw, we had to send it back. They didn't ask how we would like it cooked and the menu nor waiter indicated it was served a certain way. It felt overpriced and I felt out of place. It was a nice dinner but not the best. Maybe we just weren't a good fit.

Yelp
Great service and food. I wish the tasting menu had the items listed on opentable, but maybe we missed it. Overall great experience and will be back.

Yelp
Always the best service and food. Love the patio and thanks for catering to my dog! Such a nice setting

Yelp
Cero starts. The food was disgusting. Eggplant has no flavor and is old. Beef Ragu was not ragu, and the color of the meat was Grey and black I can't eat. Incredible I have this answer from the owner. "Mrs. McMahon, with all due respect as a restaurant owner yourself, this review is not only inaccurate, it is also extremely rude--confirmed by your husband's own words at the table." The food was bad doesn't matter if I have a restaurant; it is not your business. The review is that your food was bad, and I couldn't eat. I returned the steak, and you charged me $65 for not eating. Your food is trash. You have to respect the customer who serves food fresh and tastes good. Your eggplants were old, and the steak was old. The only good thing was the wine, I have to go home to make food to eat, and waste $268. About you say iam rude. It is correct I am rude when I feel people rob me. You ruin my day I was si tired and hungry that my husband take me dinner and I ended to eating sandwich in my house and waste $268. I forgot we leave $100 tip because the server was amazing.

Yelp
Veneto has the ambiance and feel of a fine dining restaurant with friendly service and slow dining vibes. I came here with some friends to partake in their tasting menu which came out to a total of $165 per person before gratuity. The tasting menu started with some chestnut soup, mushroom charcuterie, mushroom pasta, an orange risotto, venison, and finished with a chocolate tiramisu. Overall my favorite was the first three items on the tasting menu. Unfortunately the orange risotto was overly bitter and undercooked and the venison seemed a little under seasoned to me. Tasting menus are fun but also this was not one of my favorite ones I've been to. Considering a few dishes happened to be vegetarian, you don't really feel you're getting your money's worth. Not all dishes were that great and it's as expensive as omakase in Seattle. I'd rather save my money for those instead!

Yelp
This was by far one of the absolute worst dining experiences we have ever had the displeasure of having. Please please go somewhere else. I got a burrito from Rancheritos on the way home. My wife and I arrive, we are seated and we meet our waiter who was very nice. He takes our drink order and we get an appetizer. There are only 2 options for non alcoholic drinks, coke or Italian soda, which was different. (My wife is pregnant and I'm not drinking while she is.) Anyway we wait and We start noticing that the employees are marching around like security guards and it's an overall strange vibe like they are being held hostage or something or like we are being watched, haha very weird. The amuse bouche is brought out... liver pate. My wife is unable to eat this because again she's pregnant. I was very unsure but I decide to try it. I like another reviewer was so close to vomiting I almost couldn't handle it; It was nothing short of disgusting. I had to ask for bread to be brought out, stale and nothing to dip it in or spread on. The pasta itself finally comes out, I order Gnocchi my wife Bolognese. My Gnocchi looked Like a soup, although instead of broth it was butter! Drowning in butter and so so rich I took 3 bites and couldn't stomach another. My wife's bolognese was so greasy it was pooling at The bottom of her plate. By the time the steak is ready to come out, we are considering asking to cancel it. It came out anyway, and was so incredibly bland we took 1 bite each and didn't eat the rest. Not a touch of salt. So unbelievably bland. AT NO POINT ARE WE ASKED HOW THE FOOD IS OR WAS. I told my wife I wanted to send it back and didn't want to pay for this atrocious meal, but never received the time of day. We barely ate any of it, minus the salad which was okay but contained fried polenta which was so weird. The host came and took our check and at no point asked for feedback. Avoid this restaurant and its toxic behavior. Worst dining experience we've ever had.

Yelp
The food is amazing. The proprietor Marco is obviously a passionate food and wine enthusiast. The curatoration of an amazing champagne (best I have ever seen) and spectacular red wine list with fabulous wines by the glass. The gnocchi. Was a non potato recipe from Italy fabulous. The filet's were spectacular (I had the leftover of my wife's the next morning cold in hotel room and it was still amazing the sea bass was fantastic the service was astounding and no tips allowed yet every member of staff came to see about us. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
This place is amazing! We did the food and wine pairing. There were 8 of us and we all loved everything! It was definitely worth the cost! In fact, we felt like we should have paid more. This might sound weird, but their bathroom was beautiful. I always love to go to a place that has a really nice bathroom. The owners are so kind and considerate, and we loved just sitting and relaxing while enjoying the food and wine pairing. We never felt rushed at all. We are looking forward to out next return!

Yelp
The food, the wine, the ambiance, I just love this place! Every time I have dinner here I leave with my heart and stomach full! And I always leave room for the desserts! My staples are the buratta and prosciutto appetizer, the eggplant parmigiana and the sea bass with fried capers...but my new menu favorites are the onion quiche, and the fig risotto. My friends and husband were obsessed with the wagu beef. Yum!

Yelp
They Never disappoint ! We come here for special occasions and get a special experience every time. The food is phenomenal, truly a home. The service is top notch. Unlike anywhere else in SLC. And the ambiance is charming, inviting, warm, cozy, and homie while being sexy at the same time. Til next time Veneto and Grazie!

Yelp
What a delightful experience. We picked Veneto somewhat randomly and we're so glad that we did. This is real, authentic homemade Italian food. Light and delicate with an emphasis on quality ingredients and flavours. The spring pea dish was so simple but bursting with flavour. You can tell the care that went into each plate. The mountain Yoki was packed full of flavour. The service was friendly and knowledgeable. I found the pricing to be totally reasonable. Highly recommend if you want a unique, authentic dining experience.

Yelp
If I could do half stars, I would give this a 3.5. After this experience, I would say that I just don't think we really enjoy Italian fine dining. We went to Valters in downtown and weren't huge fans either so it might just be us. Service was a 4.5 out 5. Everyone was very nice and helpful. Our waiter was great. There were random times where we had to wait longer than I would say is normal, but overall it was great. The atmosphere was cute. But one thing I really didn't like was the chairs. They were super uncomfortable, creaky and very stiff. Food... the appetizer (cheese, meat, tomato, oil and vinegar) was amazing. The gnocchi was 10/10. I would DoorDash this frequently if I lived closer. The bolognese was really good as well. The major detractor was the steak. We got wagyu and it was very over cooked. The flavor was good, but it was super tough. The people next to us sent theirs back because it was too rare so maybe they were just having an off night. The tiramisu was so good. We also got their fried apples and it was a very fresh dessert. I wish the dough would have been a bit crisper. It was soggy, but the fresh apple and cream made up for it. For the price, we probably won't be back, but like I said, it might just be our lack luster for fine Italian dining.

Giselle Y.

Yelp
The appetizers were a little bit over priced but were very tasty, I came with my entire family and the service was very nice and hospitable. Go for the pasta not for the meat

Yelp
Updated Great food, missing that special touch. I've updated my previous post from 3 stars to 4, which I couldn't edit and had to delete. So, this is a repost with updates, with 4 stars being rounded up for the food quality and our server. As foodies, my husband and I enjoy indulging in a good dining experience, often spending $200-$400 per visit. We appreciate restaurants that value customers like us and provide excellent food and an equally exceptional customer experience. Food: 5 The food deserves 5 stars for its quality, taste, and presentation. There is no argument that everything we tried was delicious and top-notch. If the rating were based solely on food, 5 stars would be unquestionable. Ambiance: 3 This restaurant is a converted old house. Due to the small interior, we opted to sit outside so we could hear each other. It was nice, but not particularly romantic despite the candle on our table, as we were literally sitting on the front porch. The landscaping hasn't been well-maintained and could use some mood lighting or something else. No big deal though, as we enjoy looking at each other more than anything. Also, seeing random people walk by added a bit of fun. Server: 5 Our server was excellent, knowledgeable about the menu, and gave great recommendations. We would have gladly tipped him if it weren't a tip-less restaurant. We later learned he is also the manager, but that wasn't made known to us at the time. Corkage and Cover Charge: 1 We were put off by the $12 cover charge and the $75 corkage fee. I could understand these fees in places like Chicago, LA, or New York, but they seemed absurd for Utah. Most high-end restaurants here don't charge more than $25 for corkage, and many don't charge us at all. It's true that we discovered the corkage fee after a DM with the restaurant earlier that day. Since we already had a reservation, we decided to dine anyway, but the fee deterred us from bringing our own bottle and it left a bad impression. While I understand the rationale for the fee, given the sommelier services and curated wine offerings, it still felt unusually high compared to other high-end restaurants in Utah with similar offerings. We ended up having a couple of glasses of wine from the menu, which were overpriced. However, we would have preferred one of our own bottles. After dinner, we went elsewhere for drinks. While the cover charge is listed on the menu and appears on the receipt as 'coperto,' it seems unnecessary. The charge itself is not outlandish, but it is not something we are used to paying for at other restaurants. Menu Options: 4 The second course options are excellent if you like beef and are okay with the required portions and related costs. There aren't many lighter options if you fill up from the appetizer and first course, other than Branzino or a side dish. I opted for a salad. I was surprised there wasn't a lighter protein option besides red meat, or another type of fish besides Branzino, which often contains bones even when deboned thoroughly. Adding a little more variety could be beneficial. Customer Experience and Overall Service: 3 After learning it was our first visit, it would have been nice if the chef or owner had stopped by our table to greet us and check on our meal and service - which would have taken 5 minutes, tops. Although we had the manager serving our table, having someone like the chef or owner show appreciation for our business, would have been a nice touch and it's one of the things that sets apart the best restaurants. Summary: In hopes of trying something new, I made reservations here based on the rave reviews. Had I visited for a business gathering focused primarily on the food, my review might differ. However, with any fine dining, great food is the expectation, and when I dine with my husband, the customer experience & service interaction is equally important. That is what makes us want to return, and what we felt was missing from this visit. Perhaps it was an off night. That said, while many customers may return here for the food and extensive wine list, to us, this restaurant felt more transactional with the fees and the 'order everything at once' approach, along with the 90-minute time limit for a table of two. "We'll be back" was not part of our vocabulary during this visit. If anything, it solidifies what we love about the other restaurants we most frequent, who also offer an extensive wine list, but with a lower corkage fee (if any), along with a romantic atmosphere and attentive service that makes us feel valued. This just wasn't for us. Regardless, thank you Veneto. We wish you continued success.

Yelp
I've been here a few times over a couple years. This competes both as the best restaurant in the State and most expensive. This is truly Italy in Utah. The ingredients are flawless. The cooking has always been flawless, and the service excellent. They understand how to read the table and adjust the pacing appropriately. Whether you have the tasting menu or order ala carte, everything has been perfect. Also, I have been back for the bistec a la fiorentina and it lived up to billing. They presented the meat correctly and cooked it perfectly and served the same sides I'd get in Florence. We got a kilo of steak, because it can't be done properly smaller.

Yelp
We had a fantastic experience at Veneto. We loved that they gave information about its origin and how they prepare the food. The service was outstanding and professional. It was a perfect place for a celebration meal. We sat outside in the front and were the only ones out there which was really nice. My main recommendation is to get the ginocchi. It was so so good!

Yelp
Came back recently with my spouse for a spontaneous night out. This place continues to hold the top spot in my heart for presentation and taste when it comes to fine dining in SLC. I had to order my meat medium (instead of medium rare) since I am expecting, the waiter suggested the waygu for texture due to the longer cooking time and I was blown away from the flavor. My husband had the filet which was also fantastic. We always order the risotto here which always hits the spot regardless of variation. Another thought is there is not another place in town that knows or understands how to prepare fried polenta like Veneto. We will be back for a birthday this month and we cannot wait! Highly recommend coming here for any occasion!

Yelp
I've had two opposite experiences at Veneto. The first time was amazing. We selected the tasting menu for two. The food was delicious with a really interesting twist of pine flavors with homemade pasta, and someone who seemed like the owner checked on us. So when our son, a foodie, was home on college break, I was excited to take him. We picked the only available time slot, 8pm, which was quite late for us to eat, but I figured it was worth the wait. We arrived early, but were seated at 8:30pm, with no apology or even any notice that we'd been waiting so long on their benches. We had to wait awhile for just water. The food this time was fine but nothing memorable--and not cheap. It was so disappointing that I'm not sure I'll return, even though the first experience was amazing. Veneto, if your staff can be consistently friendly, attentive and just a little closer to on-time, with consistently special food, we'd become loyal customers.

Trisha P.

Yelp
We celebrated our anniversary at Veneto, willing to spend more than usual hoping to love more than usual. We left feeling like it wasn't quite what we hoped for. The food was quite good. The pasta amazing, the main course maybe not. I think it was honestly the vibe from the service that left us scratching our heads... just a little odd. Definitely a pleasant surprise at the end to see it is a no tip restaurant.

Yelp
Amazing experience! From the moment we sat down, we were impressed by the nice quiet atmosphere, the professionalism of the staff, and our server's knowledge of the menu. They have an impressive wine list and our selection did not disappoint. To start, we shared the gnocchi. Outstanding. My wife had the filet, which she very much enjoyed. I had the ravioli which was also delicious. If you're in Salt Lake City this place is a must!

Yelp
Food. One of the best, if not the best, Italian restaurants in the state. Service. Friendly, not pretentious. Ambiance. Intimate, pleasant, perfect for conversing without having to yell, unlike many restaurants. Expensive, but worth it.

Yelp
I felt compelled to write a short note about this amazing restaurant. My wife and I love going out and enjoying great food. We're fairly well-traveled, having visited most of Europe, the United States, and several other continents. We've dined at many Michelin-starred restaurants around the world. Out of the thousands of miles we've traveled and the numerous restaurants we've experienced, two of our absolute best meals have been in Salt Lake City, UT. There is something truly special about the food, the wine, and the owners of this incredible restaurant. The food is clean, pure, and not overdone. Each dish is a masterful blend of flavors and textures, showcasing the chef's dedication to quality and creativity. The wine selection is equally impressive, featuring some of the best wines you can find anywhere in the world. The sommelier's expertise in pairing the perfect wine with each course enhances the dining experience to a level that is truly unforgettable. It is truly remarkable that our favorite restaurant isn't in Paris, Rome, New York City, or LA, but in Salt Lake City, UT. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with a perfect blend of elegance and comfort. The owners' passion for hospitality is evident in every detail, making guests feel welcomed and valued. No one should miss this extraordinary gem of an Italian restaurant. Whether you're a local or a traveler, this is a dining experience that stands out above the rest and leaves a lasting impression.

Yelp
This was a completely different experience than the last time we were here. Once seated, had to ask for them to take our beverage order, then had to ask for menus. Shouldn't that be a given? We saw a couple come in about 10 minutes after we did, not only did they get bread, drinks and their order was taken before ours. Not sure if that was the new King of England or what but found that so odd. The burrata cheese and prosciutto appetizer were both amazing! Gnocchi and Tiramisu were also delicious. The bread seemed like it was a bit stale and surprised that wasn't baked fresh or ordered fresh. Not a good sign at an Italian restaurant. Service was slow and I realize there is no tipping permitted here but that shouldn't take in to account the horrible service. With the high prices and small portions not sure it was worth my while to sit 2+ hours let alone always waiting for our server. UPDATE: Amy S. (owner) just sent a private message stating that frequent customer's get this special treatment: _____________________ "I did attempt to address your comment re: the table you dubbed as "The King of England" by sharing with you that it is our ultimate goal each night to excel for every guest. It seems as though you would like more specifics, so as I research further into Friday night's reservations, I see that this table seated 10 minutes after you, is a frequent guest. Our team naturally builds relationships with frequent guests over time, and we take great pride in doing so. Getting to know our guests is a privilege; learning their names and anticipating their preferences for their favorite table, chairs, drinks, bread, etc. Genuine relationships are built when we see someone multiple times a year vs. once, or once a year. We would love the opportunity to build this type of guest-restaurant relationship with you as well; and if we are not able to (since you say you doubt you will be back), we hope you have your special place to go, where you are made to feel like "The King of England". " ______________________ I guess the rest of us peasants will get the leftover scraps from others. Would hate to see first time guests go to this restaurant and get the same lousy service as us. Maybe when they become a frequent diner they will be treated as royalty. Maybe I am overreacting or way off base but one would think if everyone were treated as equal it would be a great dining experience for all.

Yelp
I had an excellent birthday dinner at Veneto! I'd highly recommend making reservations in advance, as I wasn't able to get my desired time even on a weeknight when I called a week ahead of time. While I love fantastic food, I definitely prefer eating in a space that doesn't feel too pretentious. While Veneto could definitely have been super stuffy, it was actually really comfortable with people dressed in all sorts of ways, from jeans to formal wear. I appreciated this so much! The service was a bit odd. It seemed like my waiter was maybe really nervous? He was fumbling a bit and was a bit slow, which wasn't a big deal to me, but definitely didn't fit the vibe of the restaurant. We started with the burrata, which was excellent! I'm really a sucker for a good burrata, and this one definitely met my high standards. My husband and I each ordered one of the gnocchi dishes, and while mine (the country style gnocchi) was delicious and rich, his (with the tomato sauce) was a bit lackluster. Definitely great dishes overall, but the potato gnocchi wasn't amazing. When we left, we were gifted a to-go dessert in celebration of my birthday, which was a wonderful surprise! The hostess was truly a gem, a clear master in the art of high class service all around.

Yelp
Most reviews rated VENETO with 5 stars and for good reason.... Service was fantastic and the staff went out of their way to make sure my wife and I received great service. Thank you! The handmade pasta was outstanding! We've enjoyed handmade pasta in Italy, and VENETO definitely brings a taste of Italy to SLC. Finally the wine list....Excellent! Very nice to have that large of a selection here in Salt Lake. My wife and I have been twice and will definitely go back to dine at VENETO. We highly recommend dining here for anyone looking for a nice atmosphere, friendly staff, authentic Italian food, and great wine selection.

Yelp
If you want to pretend to be in Italy (Disneyland Style), but be treated like an awkward criminal while listening to terribly dramatic music, this is your jam! The employees are trying. But when your boss is watching your every move it's hard to have a personal touch. We waited for over an hour for three pasta dishes and a salad. They were fine, but not mind-blowing or worth the wait. I'm not sure how this place is so highly rated, but do yourself a favor and skip the pretense as well as mediocre Italian. (Yes, we have been to Italy!)

Yelp
The food is delicious. Handmade pastas and gnocchi are always a favorite. Dining at Veneto is as advertised. The owners are warm and inviting. It really does have the feel of a little Italian ristorante. Very cozy. We were there for a couple of hours and it felt like it went by so fast. Professional service. My wife and I loved it! Parking wasn't easy at first but they noticed and gave me some tips for next time when we made it in.

Yelp
Though I've never had the pleasure of the Veneto in-house dining experience, I have had the satisfaction of trying the food. Due to Covid-19, we were able to get takeout for our anniversary and coursed it out on our own. We started with the insalata mediterranea, which was the perfect, simple blend of arugula, olives, and cherry tomatoes. Next, we enjoyed the melanzane alla parmigiana, which was my favorite dish of the night. The flavors were incredible, and the texture even better. Lastly, we shared two pastas: the pasticcio and the gnocchi. We also splurged on the pesce, which was a baked black cod. The cod was cooked perfectly, and the spinach/red onion mix side was the perfect addition to our amazing meal. We're gluten free due to sensitivity, but they convinced us to try their housemade noodles because they use Italian 00 flour, and it didn't bother us much. I am very glad we went for it because the noodles were excellent and well worth the very minor side effects. They're also a European style restaurant in the fact that they do not expect tips. And if you do choose to tip, they will donate it to a charity of the staff's choosing. To top it all off, they gave us free polenta cookies, which I absolutely loved!! Thanks VENETO! We'll be in soon.

Yelp
I've lived in NY and LA and this is by far the best food I have ever eaten. The pasta is perfect, the steak is perfect and the service is unmatched. If you want to have the best meal of your life in a quiet little room, this is where you can do that.

Yelp
Incredible restaurant/ experience. Staff is very knowledgeable. A bit pricier but a perfect option for a special occasion.

Yelp
The hubs and i really enjoyed ourselves at this restaurant. You can tell that it was more authentic and housemade, especially the pasta. I loved my pasta and the hubs said that the meat was on par with any other steakhouse we've been to, and that's a hard thing to please my husband with. I like my steak to be pretty well done and it came out nearly raw. I completely forgot to tell them how I wanted my meat cooked. But they kindly took it back and cooked it more for me with no problems. Service was great and the desserts were pretty good too. We'd definitely come back.

Yelp
By far, the best dining experience in Utah. Starting with the personal service to the incredible food and the wine-- wow. Ambiance is perfect.

Yelp
Tbh best Italian dinner I've had. They keep it very traditional. Like you're walking into a spot in Italy's VENETO region. Everything was delicious and service was spot on. What more could you ask for? Thanks guys!

Yelp
Another AMAZING visit to Veneto for our anniversary dinner. Called and made reservations for the three of us (we took our 10 year old with us) and decided this year we would enjoy dinner inside the restaurant. I was so happy when we entered and it reminded me of all the cozy little spots in Italy where we enjoyed amazing food. The staff was outstanding and truly live by the motto that waiting is a profession, not a job. Every aspect of the service was perfect and great. The 10 year old stuck with the spaghetti and the sirloin steak, which he loved both. The wife and I each ordered the Gnocchi (she refuses to share an order). I ordered the sirloin and she had the salmon. Throw some desserts on top and you have some amazingly full and happy patrons. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, was prepared perfectly and beautifully. The plates were as beautiful as the food tasted. There wasn't a single thing out of place or anything we would have changed. One thing to note is this place is truly Italian traditional. You do not tip. If you do tip the money is given to charity. Veneto believes in paying their staff a living wage and ensuring they are not relying on tips to give great service or experience. I like that. Please try this spot if you have not. Please tell your friends about it (just until I cannot get a reservation any longer then we will have to back off 3-10 people.)

Yelp
Veneto is a spectacular and deep culinary experience. The seasonal menu follows the seasons and cuisine of northern Italy at its best. The service and attention is exceptional. This will be among your great dining experiences, as it has been for me, and I can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Dinner at Veneto was lovely with some hits but unfortunately a couple misses as well. We started with the burrata and prosciutto appetizer which was tasty and not too filling when shared between two people. For our first course, we ordered the Bigoli con Ragú di Anatra. The duck was exceptionally delicious and moist; the pasta on the other hand was almost inedible in how firm it was. I'm not talking about al dente, I'm talking several levels firmer than that. Disappointing for sure. Our main courses consisted of Tagliata di Manzo and Filetto di Angus con Patate a Rotelle e Cipolla Rossa (filet mignon), and we also had the Insalata Tricolore. All of these were excellent and dishes I would order again, especially the filet mignon. We closed out the night with a fairly average tiramisu and the Semifreddo con Amaretti. I would like to try different desserts next time. The service was top notch and we got great wine recommendations from our server. The pace of the meal was pleasantly relaxed (2.5 hours to get through all the courses) and our server even mentioned that the table was ours for the evening.

Yelp
The pear ravioli and the tiramisu were highlights of the night. The wine list was also impressive. The service to my table was excellent, but not the young male waitor to my neighboring table. Although it's the guests' issue that they were not familiar with Italian food, the explanations provided by the waiter were not helpful, as overheard by me. Also to guests who don't make their way often into fine dining, not being able to point out the price of the steak is per ounce and how many ounces there is usually for one steak was a major failure of the waiter. This led to chaos that should have been avoided...

Yelp
What a gem this little restaurant is! From the moment I called to make a reservation with Amy , I was greeted with a kindness and a charm unlike most restaurants. Aimee was personable and welcoming! When we got there and sat there very cozy and quaint outdoor garden, we were taking care of by Caitlyn and the owner, Marco. From the moment we sat down, we felt welcomed into an experience of this restaurant. The way Marco spoke with us, related in a friendly way, and told us about all of the ingredients and the food, it was a slice of Italy right there in Salt Lake City. And then when the food came out, it was so beautiful and fresh and tasty, we were left feeling, super satisfied, but of course, wanting to go back for more to try new things. And when Marco told us the tiramisu was the best we would ever have, he was not lying. What made this? The perfect experience was the relationship with the people that worked there and the passion for which, they were doing their jobs, and the colorful, fresh, excellent quality and taste of the food. Our experience was perfection thank you so much.

Yelp
We were supposed to come here for Valentine's day and couldn't make it so we decided to come check it out to celebrate our 1yr wedding anniversary. Cute house on 900e converted into restaurant. We had a reservation for 6pm but got there early and Heather the hostess seated us right away and explained the story behind the restaurant and the owners. There were 12 tables instead, a few out front and great patio in back with more seating. It is small and cozy with understated decor and simple sconces on the wall with curtains in middle of the room to close off and make an area private if needed. AJ was our server and he greeted us promptly and explained the menu and how it would be traditional Italian style service. Slow paced. Multiple coursed. And no tipping allowed (they charge a comperto per person and a service fee). For the antipasti I picked the vegetable tempura and the hubby picked the board with the selection of cured meats. Tempura had peppers onion olives basil and lemon! Hubby loved the olives (i shared with him since I'm not an olive fan) and everything was light and crisp and I loved the light fragrant olive oil that was used to cook the tempura. The meat plate had super thin sliced meats (4 varieties). His favorite was the salami and he enjoyed the pickled onions and peppers served with the platter. It was a great compliment of flavors between the meats and pickled peppers. For the 1st course the hubby got ravioli with cheese and pear and I got the gnocchi. We were expecting it to be small portions like 1 or 2 ravioli but the plate was actually full (8 total).Ravioli was full of flavor and it was an interesting combo with the salty  cheese and the sweet pear inside. Light sauce on the ravioli was not overwhelming nor was it swimming in it. It was the perfect amount of sauce. The gnocchi was soft, thick and creamy cheese combo. Totally different from the potato gnocchi I have had before. Sage butter sauce was thin and just enough to compliment the gnocchi without overpowering the dish. Smoked cheese was a bit heavy and took over the flavor but I still enjoyed the dish. For the 2nd course, hubby chose the Sliced Beef Filet and I got the veneta salad. I couldn't eat any of the options on the segundi menu so server just brought out the salad with my husband's dish so I didnt have to wait for him to finish his course before I ate mine. The sliced beef had sea salt sprinkled on top. Meat was blackened on the end pieces but the center slices were seared perfectly on edge with warm medium center and the salt just brought out the flavor of the meat. The Veneta Salad was really bitter and a bit too salty for my taste. I couldn't eat it but it's just not my preference (not that there was anything wrong with it). We brought our own cake to celebrate our anniversary and I loved that they let us bring it in and have it even though they sell dessert. However, I checked in with Yelp and got a free sampling of the sbrisolona cookies. So we took a few bites and took the rest home. The part we had the hardest time with was the fact that we couldn't tip and the coperto they charged was only $8 total. The bill for our amazing meal was much cheaper than expected (176) but $8 is not even close to 10% so I feel like we were robbing the server of a well deserved tip. I know they get paid more than typical server but still feel really uncomfortable not tipping more. If we do offer a tip it gets donated. That is awesome, but I still feel like we shorted AJ on thanking him and the rest of the staff for his incredible service.

Yelp
I mean, like, first, this isn't an Italian restaurant. It's a northern Italian restaurant, which is to say it's cuisine is more like the cuisine of Switzerland or Austria. And when was the last time you heard someone say "OMG, we gotta go eat at that new Swiss joint." And this is a northern Italian restaurant in northern Utah, which, unfortunately, means the likelihood of great food is even lower. The gnocchi, which the waiter sold hard and loud, was gluey. The pasta had a discernible flour flavor and was textured like an amateurish at-home attempt. All sauces were completely unremarkable. The vegetables were over cooked to the point of dryness and unseasoned. The wait for each stage of the meal was excessively long. But what made things truly awful was the dining space itself. We felt like we were crammed into the corner of someone's living room that had been retrofitted to accommodate 50 people at a family reunion or church event. The noise from other guests was inescapable and unpleasant. We definitely won't go back.

Yelp
Giving 5* because there's no 6*. This place is a hidden gem and best Italian restaurant that I've been to, on par with the best in Italy. From the appetizers to the dessert, everything is delicious. The owner and patrons are marvelous and respectful. The place itself is nice, clean, and cozy. While Salt Lake City is not necessarily my favorite place, I'd definitely fly back there just to have dinner at Venetto's. Bravissimo e grazzie mille!

Yelp
I had such a great experience at Veneto. My friend and I came here for dinner and the chef was so accommodating to our dietary restrictions-- I have some allergies, and we both eat plant-based. The flavor pallet was divine, and the ambience was intimate yet upscale. If you are in Salt Lake City and in need of a romantic, date night spot, Veneto is the perfect restaurant for you. There is such great energy here, and the servers were very friendly. I'm already wishing that I could go back. Although I couldn't get enough of their fresh vegetables and pasta, The highlight was their wines and desserts. I have a major sweet tooth and their tiramisu was delicious. Chefs kiss!

Yelp
Let me start by saying how sad I am to write this review. This used to be one of our very favorite restaurants in Utah. Food was consistently excellent, the wine list is fantastic, and the relaxed, European-style pacing is wonderful. A few of the servers sometimes had a bit of an attitude, but they were knowledgeable and competent. We loved this place so much that when we had some close friends visiting we planned a dinner at Veneto as the highlight of our weekend together. Unfortunately the evening wasn't even close to what we experienced on prior visits. To start, the server was incredibly pretentious and condescending. We enjoy fine dining frequently, we are very well-traveled, and we have had the wonderful experience of dining in multiple Michelin-starred restaurants. Our visitors have a similar travel and fine dining background. But our server seemed to be under the impression that our dining experience was very limited and that we had no understanding of what to expect or how to behave in a fine dining setting. We wanted to order wine before deciding on our food order. The server refused, telling us that this is was not how things are done in a fine dining restaurant, because the wine ordered must be paired correctly with the food. We were all surprised by this statement, since we've often started an evening out by ordering a wonderful bottle of wine, chosen to take into account the general type of dishes we typically order, and had never had a restaurant refuse to allow us to order wine before ordering food. One of our guests mentioned this, which our server seemingly took as a challenge, because he quite pointedly and rather loudly informed our dear friend that it sounded like she didn't have much experience with fine dining and if their policy bothered her maybe she'd be happier at a Cheesecake Factory, then he turned and walked away. We were shocked and mortified, and initially speechless. After the server walked away we started apologizing profusely to our friend, telling her that this had not happened to us here before or we never would have returned, let alone brought guests. She graciously laughed it off as simply some kind of misunderstanding, or maybe the server having a bad night. We made our choices from the menu, but then waited another 35 minutes before the server returned to our table to take our order. At the time he returned one of our guests was in the mid-sentence telling a clearly emotional story about the loss of a family member, and we were all paying rapt attention to what she was saying. The server saw that she was speaking and wiping away a few tears, but just cut her off mid-sentence without any apology whatsoever and said, "Are you guys ready yet?" as if we had been the ones holding him up. All but one in our party were ordering both first and main courses, however one member of our party didn't have as much of an appetite that night. That gentleman ordered something from the first course menu but asked if it could be served concurrent with the rest of us receiving our main courses. Our server informed him that this was an "inappropriate" request, and said that the kitchen "wouldn't allow this under any circumstances". When asked the reason for this he told us that the first courses must all be served at exactly the same time because to do otherwise would be an insult to the chef. We went along with what we were told, although none of us had run into something like this being such a huge issue in the past. Yet when it came time to bring out the main courses for those who had ordered them, all but one came out at the same time, but we waited over 15 minutes for the last person's food to be served. We had a laugh over the server's making such a big deal earlier about the importance of everything from the same course being served at the same time. When the final main course (filet mignon ordered rare) arrived, unfortunately it was grossly overcooked (only a tiny trace of pink in the center, much closer to well done than rare). We pointed this out to the server, who then insisted she had ordered the meat cooked medium well. We had all heard what she ordered (and have never heard her order steak other than rare), but when she politely insisted that she had in fact ordered it rare he started to argue with her and rather aggressively leaned over her and asked if she was saying he had a bad memory. The way he got into her physical space almost seemed threatening, and she quietly said it's ok, it's fine, I'll eat this, don't worry about it. By the time we left a pall had been cast over what should have been a fabulous evening. I personally cannot adequately convey how utterly mortified I was to have brought my dear friends to a place I had talked up so much, telling them it was really special, only to have all of us treated like this. I am so sad to say it, but I've lost confidence in this place and won't be back after such a horrible experience.

Yelp
I am an EXTREMELY well-seasoned restaurant attendee...and ESPECIALLY Italian restaurants...including many in Italy over 5 trips. This, to me and my guests, was all about "the show"...not the food...and DEFINITELY not certain of the prices that made ANY sense. There was definitely an aire of snobbishness beginning with the $75 per bottle of wine corkage fee which I found offensive. If you don't want people to bring their own bottles in, just don't allow it...but don't be offensive in that exorbitant of a corkage fee. The waitress was well-rehearsed and had the spiel down pat...but again, it was such a show. However, given the long involved spiel (much of which fine dining customers would already know and most of whom wouldn't necessarily care about), I was excited to sample the cuisine. We sat at 7 pm sharp. Four of us ordered a combination of appetizers and main courses, including an interim pasta course. The appetizers were quite good, and were served to our table in a proper amount of time....maybe 15 - 20 minutes. Then we waited...and waited....and waited. Our pasta course arrived about 45 minutes after finishing our appetizers. The portions were not large, but the pricing reflected that, so no problem there. However the bolognese sauce was truly unremarkable (don't think it even had the typical carrot in it), and the gnocchi was overcooked. Two of us ordered the T-Bone Bistecca to split. It was advertised to be a minimum 2 pound order at $80 per pound...expensive but it was 70 day-aged beef and in this day of COVID meat prices, I was ok with that. However, we waited literally 90 minutes for that steak to come out...and therefore also the other main courses because the restaurant correctly wanted to serve the main courses all together. It was after 10 pm when our Bistecca finally made it to our table...and despite the explanation of the kitchen having a "hard time cutting it (??) and apologies from the wait staff and a free plate of some prosciutto, we were not happy. Our medium rare steak came out much more raw than it should have been, and we had to send it back for more cooking....another 10+ minutes. And it wasn't a T-Bone Steak as advertised...it was a NY Strip on a T-Bone...no filet with it...it had been cut out. The meat was good, but again, nothing incredibly remarkable. And the kicker was that it was 3 pounds...and hence cost approximately $250. The waitress did not ask us how big of a cut we would like, and either should have before taking the order, or told us that it was going to be 3 lbs. $250 for a NY Strip steak is ridiculous....especially since most of the weight was a full T-bone with only half of the meat on it. We received no apology upon our completion of dinner for the experience (it should have been obvious that we were not happy), and there was no offer of an adjustment of the check which without wine came to over $600....not even a complimentary dessert or coffee. The total bill came to just under $1,000 for 4 of us (2 bottles of $180+ wine). Again....it seemed to all of us that the staff was far more concerned about "the show" than about the experience of the food and customer satisfaction. Not going back....back to Valters!

Yelp
This place is such a gem. We decided to try a new place and was not disappointed. I suggest making a reservation, we were lucky they had room for two 10 minutes before we arrived. I got the vibe this place is family owned but not sure. I like how the decor is very unique and from the hostess to the server, everyone was very nice a professional. For starters (I forgot the name) but it involved prosciutto, tomatoes and baratto cheese... need I say more. So good. It was like a mini charcuterie board, so simple but delicious. I couldn't decided between a pasta dish or a steak dish.. so I let the server picked. And let's just say I'm glad it was steak, cooked to perfection, I was very satisfied. We also ordered grilled beets (golden and good) and a side of fries. Guys,.. I love anything potato and the fries here literally changed my life. I can't even explain how it's so crunchy yet so airy and tasteful. I literally finished the whole pot of fries, and was still in awe how can someone take something so simple.. and perfect it. I'm sorry, I just love potatoes and as you can tell pretty passionate about my fries. Even though they were closing, I never felt rushed and they even asked what we wanted for dessert. I usually feel awkward staying pass closing, but they made the experience wonderful. Unfortunately, they ran out of the tiramisu..so I'll definitely have to come back to try that! And get another pot of FRIES.. obviously.

Yelp
Hands down my favorite restaurant. Great for a date, celebration, or a fun & fancy meal. The reservation process is smooth, but you do want to book well in advance. The atmosphere is so nice - like you're dining at the chef's home. The staff is so friendly, thoughtful, and knowledgeable - I've never had better waiting experience in Utah. Service charge is included in your bill so they never rush your meal (we spent ~3 hours for 4 courses). The food is out of this world - my favorites at the moment are the gnocchi and tomahawk. And last, but certainly not least, Veneto has the best wine selection. Recommend also ending your meal with the tiramisu I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Came here for a friends birthday and had an inadequate experience. Aryana the hostess had an attitude the entire night. Our server spilt quite a bit of our wine on the table without an apology. Sat on the patio for 30 minutes before being served a menu, and it was 45 minutes before we received the bottle of wine we ordered. Energy of entire establishment was off. Sad to see such a "fine dining" restaurant disappoint.
