Years ago I used to go here for dinner quite frequently, and each time was excellent. For some reason, it has been years since I've been to Venetos, and I don't know why.
I had dinner here with a long time friend this past night, and it was superb. My friend said when we walked in, "This place hasn't changed a bit," and it hasn't. The decor is still the same...a cozy, old school charm. We were greeted warmly by the hostess and were seated right away since we had a reservation.
Our server was an older gentleman, and he was excellent....attentive service, yet not intrusive. After telling us the specials, I asked if the kitchen could make their lemon shrimp pasta, and I was so happy when they said yes.
Our wine selections were on point, the carpaccio was great just as I remembered, my friend's dover sole with risotto special was delicious, and my lemon shrimp pasta was exquisite. The shrimp was plentiful, and tasted like lemony lobster. I ate every single morsel of this divine dish. My friend ate everything on his dish as well. Our dinners were made with fresh ingredients, the portions were plentiful and the presentation was perfect.
The complimentary bread basket with garlic butter was a nice addition to our meal, and we ate it all.
For dessert my friend had the semifreddo al pistachio and I had the tortino di mele apple tart. Sooooooo good that we cleaned our plates.
I haven't eaten this much food in one sitting, since maybe Thanskgiving. lol
We lingered for quite awhile after dinner so that we could continue to enjoy our conversation and the wonderful ambience, and our server didn't rush us at all...he was very gracious.
What an enjoyable dinner we had!
Thank you, Venetos, for a great evening...I'm sorry that it's been years since I've been back and missed out on the "wonderfulness" of your restaurant and food, but I promise to come back very, very soon.
