Venezia Trattoria

Google
Highly recommend Venezia Trattoria! We have been several times and the food is always good, our son with a gluten/egg/soy allergy can actually eat 2 things on the menu, and the atmosphere is beautiful. The customer service is always wonderful too. Day or night - perfect place!

Google
We had an incredible experience at Venezia Trattoria. The calamari appetizer was perfectly cooked—tender, flavorful, and paired with a marinara sauce that was absolutely delicious. The lobster ravioli was packed with real lobster and had such a rich, wonderful taste. The fettuccine was also outstanding, with a generous portion that didn’t sacrifice quality for quantity. For dessert, the vanilla crème brûlée was hands-down the best I’ve ever had—smooth, creamy, and perfectly caramelized on top. Service was impeccable from start to finish. Everyone we interacted with was warm, attentive, and genuinely made our meal feel special. This is definitely going to be one our favorites.

Google
We love this place and it’s so quaint and cozy. Everything we have ever eaten here is really good. The pizza is so good and New York style. They have a good selection of drinks and good wines. You really need to check it out!

Cat H.

Google
Great food and attentive service. We took advantage of "Half-Price Wine Sunday", such a good deal. Reasonably priced menu. Would definitely go back.

Google
This place is beautiful, very aesthetically pleasing. The staff is phenomenal! They're so polite, very respectable. They understand what top notch service is. Ive got to mostly praise to the chef, they didnt have Florentine on the menu but he made it anyway 🤌 espresso creme brulee was a great desert to top it off. Also please get a glass of Brachetto sweet red 👏 tastes amazing

Erik H.

Google
We got Calamari which was very good. It took forever for the free bread to come out and they only brought one per person (two of us). When we asked for more bread, they brought out burnt bread, but it actually was still relatively good, as whatever recipe they're using is incredible. I got the veal Parmesan which was incredible and my wife got shrimp fettuccine Alfredo. Also good. I would go back, but wish they'd be more generous and timely with the free bread and not serve burnt bread

5/2/25 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Venezia Trattoria is hands-down the most authentic Italian food in North Texas 🇮🇹🍝🔥 From the moment we sat down, we were blown away. The warm, buttery bread—like mini crescent-meets-baguette loaves—was addicting 🥖✨ Then came the bruschetta 🍅: vibrant, fresh, and full of flavor. So good, I actually wanted another round of bruchetta (and I never say that about appetizers!) 😋🧄 I had the Jerusalem 🍗—chicken in a rich sherry cream sauce with garlic, mushrooms, and artichokes. No harsh alcohol taste—just smooth, savory perfection 🤤👌 My wife (who’s Italian and picky!) usually doesn’t like what I order, but she LOVED it 💕 She had the lasagna 🍽—layered heaven with marinara, meat sauce, ricotta, mozzarella, and parmesan 🧀🧀🧀 And of course, I loved hers just as much 😍 For dessert: We had the Cannoli and Holy Cannoli was it amazing. Our first-ever, shared as a family—including our daughter Cora and the baby in my wife’s belly 👶 It was crispy, creamy, and so good we wanted a second one immediately 🍩😇 Service? Top tier. Mary Stark made our night incredibly special—kind, attentive, and full of heart 🙌💫 It was our first visit, but definitely not our last! We visited their McKinney location, but their roots in Richardson and family story make it even more special 🗽❤️ We will absolutely be back. This is the ONLY place to eat Italian in North Texas. Period. 💖🍝🍷🧄🧀🇮🇹🔥👏🥰🙏🍽️ Grazie Mille, Venezia!

Google
Ordered the calamari, lasagna, and fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. The calamari was a bit bland. The lasagna was very good. Personally, I like a sweeter sauce. Their sauce is between savory and sweet. The fettuccine Alfredo sauce was very creamy. I really liked it. The chicken had a bit of a gas flavor. The restaurant is really nice looking. The seats were very uncomfortable. Our waitress was great. I had a small issue with our table, and she quickly took care of it. The restaurant quickly filled up, but she still came to our table regularly. Next visit, I'll be asking for a booth.

Yelp
Service was outstanding! Our server came by the table multiple times to ensure our food came out well, and was on the ball with remember condiments and specific substitutions and additions we had requested. The atmosphere was great, playing true Italian hits, beautiful decor, and the perfect noise level to enjoy without struggling to hear your guests. Food was equally as amazing. We had an array of different entrees and appetizers. The highlight for me was the Veal and Tortellini Vodka. Both dishes were a step above if comparing to local competition. Desserts were good, but not anything I'd rave about. I felt the creme brûlée had too much sugar on the top for my liking. Overall, the experience we had here was amazing and this initial visit will definitely have us returning very soon. Thank you for a great night!

Yelp
We were headed out this direction and really wanted Italian food, so we took to Yelp and found Venezia -- and it did not disappoint! Prices are very reasonable, portions are large, and the staff is friendly and accommodating. Drinks were a little on the pricey side, so I passed this time, but I hope to come back during happy hour to try them. The restaurant has plenty of seating and a nice, casual yet chic atmosphere. Add it to the love list

Yelp
So nice to have a finer dining option besides the Downtown area- great job to the team who put such care into this beautiful transformation of this location. We had a large group and they were accommodating. They have a large wine selection and nice cocktails. The meals were wonderful! Our group ordered a variety and were all very happy with our food. There are no plant based options. And the cheese forward vegetarian plates are a little heavy. I went with the Vodka Tortellini eating a bit of the chicken but focusing on the tortellini and sauce- delicious! My plate was way too big so I took home a hefty leftover portion. Also, highly recommend the broccoli yum. They serve bread before the meal and it was good. Our table ordered key lime pie dessert and we ooohhheed so much over dessert! Kind and patient staff round out a great experience. Pro tip: split a plate. They are seriously way too big.

Yelp
We've been meaning to try this place for awhile, looking for the perfect Mom-and-Pop Italian restaurant in the area and Venezia Trattoria did not disappoint! The decor is very tasteful- almost can't believe the place is a refurbished Steak-and-Shake! Promptly greeted and seated, by a very personable server. The Bruschetta was light and tasty. We tried the Veal Parm and the.Tortellini Vodka and both were great looking and great tasting, in ample servings. We finished dinner with a slice of house-made amoretto cheesecake! All in all, a wonderful dining experience. We'll be back soon!

Yelp
hello! my name is emily ruiz, and i worked as a hostess there for 3 weeks or a bit more. Unfortunately i quit after the owner of venezia's, including his son, target woman mostly instead of helping them, they call them stupid, he screams at the even when he is at fault, he treats his employees (the ones he doesn't like) like absolute dog sh**, he makes servers cry and verbally abuses them!!, yes the food is amazing, but the horrors behind the food is worth not coming to this place. he is a clown, and not because he actually is one, but more because the speciality of clowns are being nice and giving others the respect, but when you are the one working for them they turn evil, please DO NOT work here.. and please do not support verbal abuse towards employees that have to work there to make it for a living , thank you so much

Yelp
Delicious and friendly Found Venezia for Happy Hour and can't stop going for the smiling faces and some of the best Marsala I've ever had. Tuesday through Friday from 3-6 pop in for a glass of The Prisoner for $14, an order of the Baked Meatballs (2) $5, and the crab Stuffed Mushrooms (3) $7. Maybe 2 more glasses of wine. You'll find me sitting at the bar most places I visit so I can get to know the staff and their patrons. Allison is fantastic and the charming Tony will ensure you're attended to. The atmosphere is casual but you'll see and feel the subtle attention to details. It's relaxed with upscale Italian and wonderful staff. While I may not be "local" this has already become too of my Happy Hour list. Grazie mille!

His T.

Yelp
Good comfort Italian food! Service was very attentive. The atmosphere is warm and modern ambiance. We'll be back! Must try. - Only thing is calamari was tough and dry. Other than that everything was good!

Kenneth Y.

Yelp
I would definitely recommend this restaurant. The food, the service, everything was great. If you like good Italian food you need to go here.

Yelp
Arrived at lunch time and was surprised at how loud it was on a weekday. However, the experience over-weighed and was very pleased with the service and food. My husband ordered the Lazagna, which was a huge proportion, and I ordered spaghetti with meat sauce. So delicious! They include crispy salads served in chilled bowls and warm bread is generously served throughout the meal. Can't wait to bring my GF to check it out!
google avatar

Tonya F.

Yelp
We are semi-regulars here, but it's been a while, so I came here to say that we still love everything about it here! Family owned and operated, we were greeted by Tony who offered us a taste of the newest Chianti, it was delicious! The stuffed mushrooms are delicious and the sauce is divine.
google avatar

Jaclyn L.

Yelp
What a beautiful restaurant! The ambiance is chill, casual, but also very fancy feeling. we went for a chill lunch but I could see a beautiful date night there. The service was great. All the servers, the host and even the bar tender made sure our waters were full and we were satisfied. Now for the FOOD! They have gluten free pasta AND pizza!!! I am in heaven! The white pizza is amazing!!!!! I am so full after the side salad and HALF the lunch pizza. Can't wait for dinner leftovers!
google avatar

Leonard L.

Yelp
My family and I came here for a nice dinner. Our server James H. was wonderful and very professional. The food tasted delicious. The atmosphere is nice and relaxing. We would definitely come again.
google avatar

Yelp
By way of location...Venezia is very close to Trader Joe's and across the street from Dutch Bros. Tonight we dined at Venezia and everyone was so friendly and smiling, you can tell they hire nice people to work here and that they love their jobs. Favorites tonight were the Tortellini Vodka, Manicotti, and Chicken Parm. Normally one might see one hostess and then the waitstaff but here I bet we interacted with 10 people. Even when we were leaving all three of the hostesses were gracious and thanking us for coming in. Definitely coming back here soon!!
google avatar

Shelley N.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem! The service had quick refills and great recommendations. I had the Tortellini Michael Angelo, and my husband had the Eggplant Parm. Both dishes were amazing. We sat at a booth so the ambiance of the restaurant was quiet and calm. We skipped appetizers so we could have dessert. Off-menu they offered espresso crème brûlée. Man it was awesome! The food was top notch!
google avatar

Judy S.

Yelp
My husband and I went Saturday night for a nice Italian dinner. The service was terrific, our waitress was very attentive and personable. We were seated right away at a nice table I loved that it was quiet enough that you could have a conversation and hear each other. I hate it when a restaurant is so loud that you can't hear yourself think. I ordered the chicken Jerusalem and my husband got the veal parm. Both were delicious and we had leftovers to take home. After dinner we were talking with our waitress, she asked if we wanted dessert. We were so full that we said no, she said her mother makes all of the different crème brûlée desserts. It's is our weakness, so we shared. It was definitely worth every bite. We'll be back soon.

Ann A.

Yelp
Our group of 19 had a great experience here last Thursday! Wonderful food and outstanding service! The back room is a perfect place for groups!

Jesmin N.

Yelp
This place has quickly turned into a work day favorite. Everyone I've taken there has liked it. Everything we've had there has been delicious. My favorite so far is the lasagna. It is on the cheesier side but so, so good. I love that their lasagna and meatballs are made from beef. Most places use a beef and pork mix that we can't have because we don't eat pork. Their bread is good and they bring out already softened butter so you're not tearing the bread while you're trying to spread the butter. The chicken dish I had was delicious and moist. The service is next level. Every staff member we've encountered has been so good. They're all friendly, professional, and respectful. The ambiance is welcoming. I love what they did wit the bar area and the ceiling. They definitely catch your eye. They have great lunch specials that fill you up and are very well priced. It's a local, family owned business so definitely do check it out and support.

Yelp
They were open when most were closed on Christmas Eve. So, we really appreciated that. Service was great even though they were starting to close up. Sauces were quite thick. Maybe because it was the end of the day? Decor is very nice. Definitely worth a second visit.
google avatar

Beth S.

Yelp
Yum! Been here several times and each time has been a positive experience. The service is always great and the staff are super friendly and on top of it. There's never been an empty glass or dirty plate lingering on the table. The lobster ravioli and espresso creme brulee are the best

Christina P.

Yelp
The first time we went here the owner, Vinny, met us, and was very friendly and seated us. The ambience is nice and low lit, the decor is a modern, refined Italian, and the food cannot be beat. The garlic knots are on point, and I cannot say enough about the chicken and pasta with vodka sauce. The ravioli with the vodka sauce is amazing, so I really love love love their vodka sauce. We've been repeat customers since we found the place last year.

Tiba A.

Yelp
Beautiful inside. Great for date night. Full bar, amazing service, everything is handmade and fresh. BEST Lemon drop & mini beer ever. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Gia N.

Yelp
Service was attentive and friendly, and despite the crowd our food came out hot and fresh. Everyone at the table loved their meals, and the atmosphere felt lively and welcoming
google avatar

Marlon M.

Yelp
This is our second time to come this restaurant for dinner and it's really good. The ambience are really nice. The servers really know their menu very well and they give amazing service. It's a family owned business and they really put a lot of focus on quality, customer service and making you feel like you're the number one customer. We plan to go back and try their lunches and then one of their pizzas soon. We also have a very good chef special menu and decent happy hours with appetizers. It's on the medium to upper price range but well worth trying. The specialty drinks are a bit on the pricier side.
google avatar

Ron S.

Yelp
The food was very good The service was excellent. The ambiance was good but a bit to noisy for a romantic dining.

Sunny C.

Yelp
Upscale and beautiful atmosphere. Food was amazing. Service was great. Perfect place for "date night".
google avatar

Faye D.

Yelp
Venezia catered our Women's Club dinner last night and it was absolutely fantastic. 50 women and not one complaint!
google avatar

DARLA H.

Yelp
I ordered the Chilean sea bass on the specials board that said it came with risotto. I was halfway home and saw I had spaghetti so I called and was told I could come pick up rice if I wanted. I just wanted what I ordered for $43. Usually risotto is a higher end meal than spaghetti or rice.
google avatar

Robert L.

Yelp
My wife and I visited for the first time tonight. Food and service were both amazing!
google avatar

Linda M.

Yelp
I was in the mood for spaghetti and decided to try this newly opened restaurant in my neighborhood. When I walked in I admired the interior, nicely decorated and there was low-playing Italian music. I was quickly seated by a very nice young person and placed my order for spaghetti & meatballs. I looked at the portion and thought, kinda small for $17.99, but felt much better when I got the bill and saw that I was given a lunch portion and it was more than enough! I assumed by coming in around 3pm, I would be paying dinner prices so was pleased I received lunch prices. The spaghetti was cooked perfectly and the marinara was very flavorful. I was disappointed with the meatball though--it was tender but I think they forgot to season the meat, not even salt. I will return and try the bolognese next time.

Adam L.

Yelp
Venezia Trattoria may be underwhelming from the outside but trust me when I say, it will hit all the right notes on the inside and you may find it, like we did, to be one of the best neighborhood Italian eateries in the area. The wait staff was polite, attentive and engaging. Reminiscent of a small family Italian restaurant I grew up with where the owner made a point to make each table feel like regulars. A lost art these days and to see young servers at a restaurant care more about the time with the patrons then running back to the kitchen or play on their phones was fantastic to see. The food was prepared beautifully with care and purpose. The lunch portions were good, most at the table had a little to take home, enough for a late night snack. The escargot appetizer was excellent. Hit the spot and scared the kids a bit (my description of Gary from SpongeBob may not have been the best choice). The sauce it was paired with was great and also went well with the roles. I would wonder if the sauce would possibly pair fantastically with an artichoke appetizer. Maybe a thought for the chef. The pizza was favorable and the crust was spot on. All around it was a fantastic lunch we will certainly be back for dinner with the rest of the family. Look forward to this new restaurant continuing to mature and hopefully become a staple in the community.

Yelp
Excellent service, fresh bread, right out of the oven and my angel hair pasta dish was flavorful and tasty. I sampled my Granddaughter's chicken parm and the chicken breast was fork tender. I'm from New York and know about cannolis, tiramisu and Pignoli cookies. I had a cannoli and it was THE BEST I've ever tasted since living in Texas.

Sherri A.

Yelp
The food was good enough...service OK. Happy hour glass of wine was $14 for approximately 4oz. Seriously? A salad was additional price. Won't be back.

J D.

Yelp
Wonderful anniversary meal, service was excellent and well coordinated. It felt like we were at a fancy restaurant with a highly trained staff. The interior was very comfortable and a well done remodel. Our meals were delicious, clearly all fresh made and with quality ingredients. Chicken piccata, chicken arrabbiata, bruschetta, and caesar salad were our selections Can't wait to return.

Alana A.

Yelp
My family and I came here for the first time to celebrate Mothers Day and my birthday and we had a wonderful experience. Bona, our waitress, was so friendly and attentive. She truly went above and beyond for us. The food did take longer than expected because of the holiday, but the staff were very apologetic about the wait. It was very delicious and so was the limon cello! We will definitely be coming back sometime :)

Yuki S.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this lovely restaurant. We need a good Italian restaurant in the area. However, this wasn't it. My husband was watching a TV show where they were making fresh pasta and decided he needed to have some fresh Italian pasta for dinner. We ended up at Venezia where the friendly hostess seated us right away. (It was 6 pm on a Sat night and we didn't have a reservation. It was about 3/4+ full and staff worked hard to deliver food and clean tables). We ordered calamari for appetizer and sure enough, they were frozen. How can I tell? There weren't any calamari "legs", just perfectly cut rings. Nice, warm dinner rolls were good, though. He ordered the linguine and clams, his favorite. Pasta wasn't fresh and overcooked, a comment I've seen in other Yelp reviews. Flavor was good, though, and he ate it all! I ordered the Veal Chop. I've loved veal since I was a kid and happy to try this one. I asked the server what she could tell me about the veal chop and she said she had never tried it, "but the chef is talking about it a lot." On that "recommendation", I ordered it. What was I thinking? Out came a mound of dark chocolate-colored sauce. I had to scrape off the sauce to find the veal chop underneath. Mashed potatoes and spinach were also hiding under the sauce, too. The chop was beyond well-done. I was basically sawing the meat back and forth, to and fro, about 10 times each cut, even with the steak knife they gave me. The sauce was supposed to be a marsala sauce but it was very thick and kinda bitter. It was more like a thick gravy than a sauce. This is when I started doubting my own food knowledge...was it supposed to be so tough? Should the waitress have asked how I wanted it cooked? I didn't have the heart to tell the owner it wasn't good at all. I guess he'll know now.

Nicole B.

Yelp
Sometimes you get lucky and stumble upon a gem. This was one of those times. Driving by on a Friday night, we wanted to stop in somewhere for an appetizer and drinks at the bar. It's a nice layout. Plenty of room at the bar and the restaurant has a warm vibe. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms and a side of meatballs to try. It was all delicious! We will definitely be back to enjoy the full dining experience on another night. The staff was friendly and provided good service.

Melanie B.

Yelp
We stumbled across this place on a Sunday afternoon, not knowing what to expect. The ambiance is somewhat upscale but comfortable. All wines were half price by the glass and lunch portions were offered. I ordered Chicken Arrabiatta and my BF had Chicken Parmesan. Portions were generous, and the food was delicious! We weren't looking for a bargain, but were pleasantly surprised at the price for the quality of food. It was excellent,'as was the service. Wish we had one closer to home!
google avatar

Jeff A.

Yelp
Everyone was very friendly. The adult drinks were very tasty. We got an Italian margarita and a bahamma mamma. I'd try the Italian margarita if you come in. To eat we had a side of meatballs, garlic bread, chicken jeruselem and chicken arribbata, the garlic bread was very garlicky which we love, the meatballs had a great texture but the flavor was a little bland and I couldn't figure out why. The chicken jeruselem was very flavorful and so was was the chicken arribbata. We will be back, in all a very good experience.
google avatar

John S.

Yelp
First of all, I will return for the food! Chicken parm was outstanding. Now... we were there in the evening with the windows facing the western sunset. They don't have any screens on the windows and we were "blinded by the light" to the point where we had to leave. Our server was aware of this and stated they're working on this. Second: Noise! Walked in and heard how loud it is. At the table, it was a challenge to hear the others at our table (6 of us). Since this was an old Steak n Shake, they was no sound deadening anywhere. Maybe some drapes on the windows would help. We'll go back on try other entrees, but probably after the sun sets.

Darla S.

Yelp
We love this restaurant so much, we recently set up a Wedding rehearsal dinner there. Top notch service and delicious food! All of our guests 25 loved the fact this venue was family owned and operated!
google avatar

Camille D.

Yelp
My husband had wanted to try this restaurant out so we went last night and had a great experience! The food was delicious and our service was excellent! We will go back. Loved listening to the Italian music while enjoying the Italian food! Also, the booths were very comfortable to sit at which is a + for us!

Barbara S.

Yelp
Food is absolutely incredible Attention to detail and quality AAA+++ Service very professional & friendly AAA+++ Ambiance This restaurant is breathtaking. They have a very nice bar and the lighting is just right. Fresh flowers everywhere. Family owned and operated. A true feel of old Italy. Its more of a "Nice quiet romantic evening out" kind of place. NOT really a place for kids.
google avatar

Charlie M.

Yelp
As always the cannelloni was amazing. The only negative was the lunch comes with salad, but because i got take out ,salad is reserved for dine in thus no salad. Wierd but next time i will go else where....

Deborah O.

Yelp
Delicious and I will def come back. The salad and bread to start were great. This is a hidden gem. Spaghetti was delicious!
google avatar

Ellen D.

Yelp
Incredible food coming out of this kitchen. We always make sure to go here when we are anywhere near the area. Amazing service as well. Love the restaurant and the people operating it. We had delicious drinks from the bar and can't say enough about how much we love coming here or taking food home for the evening.
google avatar

Alli K.

Yelp
Great food! Prices are what you'd expect in McKinney. Service was excellent. Will go again soon. Glad to have good Italian food in the area. Tried the rolls (9/10) Calamari (8/10), Chef's Favorite (9/10) and Chicken Piccata (10/10). They gave us a free dessert and sang for my hubby's birthday.
google avatar

Yelp
The three of us dined here for the first time on 6-2-24. The wait staff was very attentive, and more importantly, the wine by the glass is half-off on Sundays! My chicken parm was excellent, and the tortellini was cooked perfectly. I don't remember what the third person had (remember, half-off wine on Sundays?), but they did not complain. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is for the fact that they charge $2.00 for oil and balsamic vinegar for the complimentary bread. That should be a staple at any fine Italian restaurant. Also, the parmesan cheese was in a jar and not freshly grated at the table. Heck, even Olive Garden grates it at the table! Anyway, go try this restaurant. It was good.

Bill B.

Yelp
The restaurant was almost full on a Thursday around 6:15 pm. The building remodel was very tastefully done. The food was some of the best Italian I've had. The other two guests with me agreed. The service matched the food. Prices were very fair. The owner was on site and obviously understands how to operate a restaurant. I was very impressed. My only complaint was the noise level. I would definitely return.
google avatar

Carrigan R.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing. Everything was handmade and so so delicious. You could taste the authenticity! The owners and staff are so sweet and accommodating. My husband has a dairy allergy and they could make any accommodation for him in the kitchen since everything was prepared fresh! He loved all his food and so did I! I have not had manicotti this good since I traveled abroad! The drinks were all delicious, I recommend the Peach Bellini! If you go here to eat, ask for Albiona! She was amazing and so accommodating and helpful with the menu. You feel like family here! The big name Italian restaurants don't hold a candle to this place. The restaurant was so clean, open yet intimate, and honestly even the bathrooms were great! My family will definitely be returning soon!!
