On my way to school and I saw this cute restaurant and stopped in. I will be back to pick up some empanadas and coffee. Checked out their cinnamon bun and it was yummy. Love how nice staff is and clean the restaurant is.

I have a soft spot for Argentinian food (and any dumpling/empanada/calzone-type food, period), and was walking by this place and couldn't resist stopping in. I ordered the Salteña Beef, Aji Gallina, and Sweet Corn empanadas and all three were delicious, though I think next time I go back I would skip the Salteña Beef and order the classic Argentine Beef instead. Salteña Beef was unique with the addition of the olives and it was still good, but I think my heart/stomach just preferred the classic. The hot sauce was delicious addition to all 3 empanadas, though they are certainly tasty on their own too. I also couldn't resist ordering the banana and caramel pastelito for desserts, and have zero regrets. Highly recommend. The cherry on top was that at the last minute I noticed they also serve mate! It was the perfect strength and temperature when I took it to go. I asked for light honey added to the tea and I still feel like it was too much, so I would ask for much much less honey next time.

Well...Here's the deal. I had intended on eating at a restaurant around the corner that specializes in all that's pork, but when I found a place to park I was pretty much in front of the Venga Empanadas Restaurant. So I went in and picked up an Amazing lunch. Some would call it fate...but I call it Devine Intervention because the white bean soup was heavenly! I couldn't help myself to add some ham and a splash of heavy cream to it but even without my sideline interference...it was Spectacular! 5 ☆☆☆☆☆

Google
Awesome selection of vegan and vegetarian empanadas, soups, and salads available. I had the super kale and California veggie and loved both. The white bean soup is a perfect warming comfort food on a cold day. Staff were super friendly and helpful. 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

Google
Solid empanada, perfect for a savory snack to carry you over to meal time. Have two for light lunch, three for a filling sit-down. Salteña — though with some slight variations, gets the essentials right — complete with stewed beef, peppers, boiled egg and olives.

Google
Delicious authentic empanadas. The cashier was kind and we tried chicken gaucho, three cheese, and banana empanadas. All perfect and tasteful with awesome sauces on side. Just hot inside on summer. If you like Latin food, you need to try it. Quick service.

Google
Several vegetarian options. Tried the mushroom, spinach and Mediterranean. All were delicious with plenty of filling inside! The chimichurri was delicious. Staff was friendly and service was fast. Took them to go but had no idea of telling which one was which until you opened them up. They are about 7 bucks a piece.

Google
Great place for some good priced empanadas. Tons of variety and great options for all. I really enjoy the chimicurri sauce as well.

Yelp
food 50/50 service 25/25 ambience 25/25 total 100/100 delicioso empanadas argentos!!! super amable y sencillo! lugar es facil llegar y ordernar! tried 2 empanadas. the beef and the 5 pepper manchego cheese & loved it. the orange salsa i preferred over the chimichurri (but that's because i am picky and prefer my familys recipe from buenos aires) the location is easy to walk to, quick to order and the person was very nice! i loved the collage hanging on the wall of random history pop culture and land marks from Argentina! definitely will come back to try more empanadas and the alfajores, they look legit!

Yelp
We parked right in front of Venga after a long search for parking. "why not", we said and went inside. I enjoyed the decorative points at this small eatery. We all love empanadas and settled in for a meal. The first thing we noticed was the room temperature. It was damn cold inside. We noticed other Cust rubbing their hands together and holding onto their noses for heat. The first thing we asked on this 50 degree night was can we close the door. The answer was no so we braved the cold and ate. It was uncomfortable and noticed the food and wine were cold. The food was good.

Yelp
Always my stop for a quick tasty bite. You choose your empanada and they warm it up and then you enjoy. By default you get a salsa rosada, a creamy, tomato based sauce. They used to serve the chimichurri sauce on the table, but now you have to ask for it. I love the Argentine beef empanada with peppers and onions. They also have a whole bunch of vegetarian options, including, spinach, cheese and sweet corn.

Yelp
Cheese and Spinach Empanadas are amazing!!! Very chill restaurant. Good for take out or dine in with a few seats inside and out. Served piping HOT. Don't burn yourself

Yelp
The guys were very helpful, answered all questions about ingredients to prevent allergies. The Salesforce tower location was excellent for taking the empanadas to walk around the park

Yelp
I've seen advertisements for this place plenty of times on yelp as well as an Instagram. Every time I've come by in the past, there was no parking and today I got lucky. I pulled over and jumped out the truck! What you first have to understand is, I'm from South America. I grew up, with my mom making empanadas my entire life. I've had her cook them here and I have gone back to South America and had them there. To me, empanadas are life and I am a harsh critic. Unfortunately, they are not for me. To me, from the dough to the ingredients inside, it all lacked that South American flavor. I get it this, they are playing to the neighborhood. You know what I found crazy odd, they don't have Aji. Aji is our version of salsa picante. It's like going to a Taqueria and there's no salsa for chips. Come on guys, that's the real travesty. But Remember, this is coming from an empanada snob! Now, for you folks that have not grown up with this cuisine, come right on in. The bottom line, they are tasty. A plus, they had so many types of emanadas, from beef to vegan. I also have to add, that the service was friendly, attractive and attentive.

Yelp
Been here a few times after visiting the mission and hanging out at Dolores Park because empanadas always sound good. However I'm sad to report I'm just consistently disappointed by the quality of empanadas. I can't justify continuing to pay $6 for empanadas that are average. It's a no frills ambiance, you're coming to grab a quick bite or taking it to go. The service was a little slow but that's because there was only one person working and they have to reheat the empanadas when you come. On this occasion we tried the chorizo empanadas. On their own they are decent, good portion of meat inside that was cooked well. The dough is moderately thick but not too much. Get some flaky bites that make it fun but the taste is underwhelming. I recommend trying to polish it with the chipotle sauce because the chimichurri sauce doesn't really add too much to the flavor. I don't recommend going out of your way to try these. I'll be searching for better ones moving forward.

Yelp
Soooo good. I came back the day after. I tried the Argentine beef, Mediterranean, but I my favorite is the Saltena beef. Make sure to get both dipping sauces, the mildly spicy orange sauce and the chimichurri sauce.

Erik J.

Yelp
This took me back to my travels in Argentina. The empanadas here are baked and not fried. Service was quick on a late sunday afternoon. I had a spicy beef and ham & cheese empanada Definitely stop here for a quick snack in the mission.

Vanessa B.

Yelp
Great empanadas and sangria at affordable prices. I like that you can take them grab and go too.

Abhinav J.

Yelp
None of the empanadas are vegan friendly. They have egg and milk. Won't recommend the place as vegan friendly.

Derek C.

Yelp
I've been living in the Mission for 10 years. And I always pass by this place. I saw a worker once give out empanadas to a homeless person and thought it was sweet of them. The smell from this restaurant and their worker getting along with the neighbors made me want to try this place. Unfortunately, they got one of my orders wrong. I ordered the breakfast empanada with bacon (they didn't offer chorizo). They gave me the vegetarian one with egg and spinach. There might have been 1 eggs worth of scramble, and like maybe 10 leaves of spinach in there that I paid $7.00 for. The classic argentine beef just tasted too similar to processed canned beef for me to like(I shouldn't be thinking of Chef Boy R D). and as for the dough, only the crispy edges had any real flavor. I just didn't care for it. $15 altogether. Empanadas in the City have been mostly a miss, with the exception of El Sur. Chile Linda has an issue where for $12.00, you pay for the dough and no filling. I was hoping to at least get my money's worth, no more no less. Definitely never coming back here as, I'd rather save my money and be hungry.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this spot when I was looking for a quick bite to eat! Venga has Argentine-style empanadas with both meat and veggie options available. It was around 10:30am, so their Breakfast Empanada caught my eye! It had scrambled eggs with your choice of bacon, ham, or chorizo. I really enjoyed their Gaucho Chicken Empanada with chicken, onions, bell peppers, and tomatoes. This one was really tasty! Each empanada also comes with a dipping sauce, so it's great to be able to dip the crust in it! All of their empanadas are displayed in a refrigerated case, so after you order, it'll take a few minutes for them to warm it up for you. They come out piping hot, so be careful!

Sam Y.

Yelp
The gf wanted empanadas so I drove here to pick some up for lunch. At 12:10pm on a Sunday, this restaurant was already getting a decent amount of foot traffic! I opted to just take the pastries home to warm up since there was a growing line of people. We liked the empanada with peppers as the filling the best. The chicken filling was interesting but we wouldn't get it again. I enjoyed the mushroom and spinach fillings while she still rated the peppers #1 The gentleman in the front was quick and easy to deal with. I got my order done in about 10-15 mins. He forgot about the dessert but it wasn't a huge deal for me, since it also wasn't charged on the bill. We will be back!

Yelp
Every so often I focus on a specific kind of food based on a list created on social media. This fell into the best empanadas private collection I created on my Yelp account. Venga has a kiosk at the Outer Sunset Farmers Market on Sunday's. I noticed them a couple of weeks ago but passed until yesterday on Fathers Day. Hubby & I came on our ebikes after our ride on the way home. The empanadas are in a case categorized by meat flavor. We each got one - hubby went with Argentine beef and I went with chicken. Hot or cold? They'll warm it up for you if you eat there. We went with cold. Baking instructions- heat up at 450 degrees for five minutes. Took the empanadas out of the bag at home and found two dipping sauces - chimichurri and spicy tomatillo. The empanadas were tasty. But pricey given the size. $6 each if you pay cash or $6.50 if charge.

Yelp
Empanada lovers...this is the spot!!! We always take the drive to Venga Empanadas, because they have one of the best empanadas we have had. If you're in the area, make it a stop.

Ashwin P.

Yelp
This is a spot I frequent and have slowly fallen in love with! The empanadas are amazing, and there's quite a lot of different ones to choose from. My favorites are the caprese and 5 pepper manchego here. Great spot for a savory bite!

Amanda G.

Yelp
What a cute lil spot! These empanadas are delish, and creative - I loved the imprint of "Venga" on each of them. I got the Sweet Corn, snd the Argentine Beef empanadas. The chimichurri style dip was great with the sweet corn, while the Chipotle dip was great with the beef. The guy running the shop was very nice, and suggested the pairing for the dips to each empanada. Stop by here for a quick bite, or pick up an assortment of these delightful empanadas.

Brunella C.

Yelp
I know pretty well empanadas and these are just ok. The place was quiet with just a couple of customers. I ordered Caprese and Salteña. The Caprese was fine but I was expecting more beef in the Salteña. I didn't like it so I didn't finish it. The dough is good. The service is ok. The guy didn't clean the tables after customers left. Tip for the owner: improve the filling of the empanadas. Disappointed for being the owner Argentinian. I would not comeback, I'm sure there are better options in the area.

Yelp
Venga has a small location at the SalesForce Transbay Terminal, so this review is for that location. I live in the East Bay, so it is right there when I get to the ground floor. Since there is a small location, there is only one person working, so I was patient till I was helped. I bought one of each flavor (except the pesto, as there are nuts in it) to bring to the office to share with others, so I did not get it toasted (as we have one at work). Of all the flavors, I liked the spicy beef and the mushroom one the most. There is a good heat to the spicy beef, so with the herb chimichurri, it is amazing. There is also a tomato sauce, but it is a little too sweet for me. The mushroom one has cheese in it, so be careful when biting into it (AKA wait a few mins after toasting to avoid molton cheese pull). There is a ham and cheese one, but it was too cheesy for me, not sure what cheese is used. There are also more classic flavors like beef (with olives), and if you end up buying a ton of them, there is a little letter (B for beef, SB for Spicy Beef, C for chicken etc) pressed into the crust to tell the difference. Most are under $5, and there are also pre-made salads and soups to take away.

Foofa B.

Yelp
Deliciously scrumptious! The empanadas (some halal too, I might add!) are freshly made and one can clearly tell. The pastry is light & flaky and the savoury fillings are just delectable.

Christine F.

Yelp
Ordered two empanadas - one kale and one breakfast. The guy never asked us what meat to include, and we didn't find out that we had a choice until after we ordered. It ended up having bacon which was an okay choice for us. The best thing I had was the chimichurri sauce. To die for. The empanadas could use some work, especially considering that they're a little pricey. I would come back and try different flavors, but if I had to choose I think the kale one outshined the breakfast one.

Odie O.

Yelp
Great empanadas lots of choices to choose from they even have chimmichurri sauce good prices fast excellent service love their strawberry drink too

Roxana C.

Yelp
Best sweet and salty empanadas!! Seriously, delicious Customer service is also amazing!

Siddhartha G.

Yelp
Some delicious baked goodies here, tried the mushroom and the spinach one and both were hot and sumptuous. The menu is quite large and there is a lot to pick from. A nitpick: I ate for here and would love if they opted to serve their side sauces directly on the plate or a steel bowl instead of plastic containers, but I suppose those are pre-made and packaged.

Jen S.

Yelp
Venga Empanadas has officially won me over with their incredible variety of empanadas, and one in particular stole my heart--the Five Pepper empanada. This little corner of empanada heaven has become my new go-to spot for delicious food. If I'm being honest, the first time I ever went I ordered a spinach and five pepper with a friend. I loved it so much that I ended up going back later that day with my boyfriend and he too added it to his repeat list.

Joey H.

Yelp
Here because their menu says they have GF empanadas. The glass display case has a GF option on every label. Guy behind the counter says they don't have any GF empanadas. Seems like an issue.

Avani V.

Yelp
I can't believe it had taken me so long to try out this place. Venga has a great selection of flavors, including many veggie options that I will return to explore. The staff was super helpful when I had questions about the fillings and was figuring out which to choose. I ended up trying the mushroom and mediterranean empanadas. Both were amazing, though I thought the mediterranean empanadas could have used some more flavor. Each order comes with chimichurri and hot sauce. The hot sauce isn't really that spicy and has a roasted chipotle-esque flavor, which didn't pair all that well with the empanadas. It would be amazing if there were perhaps multiple sauce options to choose from! Venga is definitely going to become a regular staple for me! My two empanadas made for a pretty filling lunch. At under $10, this is an inexpensive, easy takeout meal!

Lorraine G.

Yelp
Went to the farmer's market this morning and came across Venga Empanadas. I'm a big fan of empanadas and decided on the Argentine beef and spicy beef. Unfortunately, I was not impressed with the filling. The spicy beef was bland (definitely NOT spicy) and had more potatoes than beef. The Argentine beef was slightly tastier, but nothing to brag about. It was also quite pricy at $6 each. There must have been a surcharge for using a credit card as my total came to be $13.56. Verdict: skip this place. I've had better Argentine empanadas elsewhere.

Kelly S.

Yelp
got the spicy beef empanada. the empanadas are all ready to go at the counter, just wait a few minutes for it to be heated. the spicy beef came with a solid amount of tender rib meat, overall deliciously seasoned, and the side or orange sauce (tangy with a slight kick) paired well. a great snack!

Lori S.

Yelp
Best empanadas in the city! Great veggie options. And don't forget about the sweet ones.

Jinny P.

Yelp
Stellar food and service. Seriously cannot go wrong with any of the fillings! Always come out piping hot-delectable and urbane. Go-to snack spot for myself and friends.

Ruben R.

Yelp
Local: 5 star. Service: 5 star (deserve a good tip). Food: 5 star (very flavorful, excelent chimichuri, great dough, the alfajor is perfect, great dulce de leche). Price: worthy.

Annabelle R.

Yelp
I had the empanadas here for take-out, actually reheated, but it was pretty good, so I imagine it's even better fresh from the restaurant. I tried the mushroom, chicken and bell peppers, and beef and potato, and all had really great flavor. The sauces were even better.. a smoky chipotle kind of sauce, and chimichurri which I especially loved (that alone gives me reason to wanna return here, the best I've had from an empanada spot, the perfect blend of parsley, olive oil, garlic and seasonings).

Rodrigo T.

Yelp
My good friend lives in the area and we were just out for a liesurely walk on Valencia. So, when you do that for a few hours,, a spot of shopping here and there. You get a bit of the munchies. So we stopped by for a snackie-snack. My hubby, my friend and I shared a few orders of Argentine beef and Spicy Beef. I love the flakiness of the crust. The meat filling is well seasoned. The argentine beef is definitely as easy favorite. The place is very nice. Plenty of places to sit and eat. Do use the house sauce because its delish AF. I would totally eat here again. Next time i find my self walking around Valencia again. I'd make a point to stop by and have a snack again. Thank you so much for reading my review. I hope this helps with your decision making experience. Enjoy your awesome yelptastic day!

Priscilla C.

Yelp
Yum! I was craving empanadas and have always passed by this place soo finally decided to give it a try. The place was dark and empty so I was kind of thrown off at first. The guy working helped me make my selections which was nice. I got the veggie one and beef one (can't remember exact name now. They were both really good but I preferred the veggie one which had mushrooms and cheese! I also ordered an agua de Jamaica and that was super refreshing. Overall would come back again!

D Y.

Yelp
Empanadas were good, had a lot of filling to choose from. Will come back to try more when I'm in the area

Amy L.

Yelp
I love Venga Empanadas! The empanadas are very tasty, come in tons of varieties, including vegan and gluten-free options, the employees are very friendly and give good customer service, and the prices are very reasonable! The restaurant itself is small, but WHEELCHAIR-ACCESSIBLE, with the entry being one long ramp up to the counter, where you order. There is ample room to turn a wheelchair or mobility scooter around. In Covid times, they have an adorable parklet out front, and after you order and pay inside with the properly-masked employee, they tell you to wait in that parklet and they bring your food out to you! This is nice, because you don't have to worry about waiting indoors for an order...and people-watching on Valencia is always fun! My favorite empanada is the Caprese (mozzarella, tomato, and basil). I also really like the 3 Cheese and Walnuts (mozzarella, blue, jack, onions, caramelized walnuts) and the Ham and Cheese empanada. You can probably tell I'm really into cheese-pull! I sometimes end my meal with an alfajor or two...Mmm, dulce de leche!! Venga Empanadas is one of the under-the-radar jewels of the Valencia St corridor...I definitely recommend checking it out for an affordable, tasty snack or meal!

Elena T.

Yelp
The food is good The service 0 , bad attitude 0 customer Service 0 I'm be sorry for the owner this kind of employee Kill the business

David M.

Yelp
It doesn't get any better than this. Amazing selection of Empanadas to choose from, along with other packaged foods and drinks ready to eat.

Ann P.

Yelp
These were perfect for feeding a last minute party. The empanadas were golden and flakey on the outside and I the portions inside were quite generous. We ordered the Argentine beef, spicy beef, aji gallina, gaucho chicken, mushroom, and sweet corn. My favorites were the beef and sweet corn. They also come with two sauces that were really good. I would cater from them again for the quick, seamless delivery and impressive oven to door time!

Patricia L.

Yelp
I came with my daughter to eat Argentinian empanadas . We tried three different flavors: spinach , gaucho chicken , and aji gallina. They were very good !! and for desert... alfajores de maicena . Everything was tasty, especially with the chimichurri sauce . The price was good as well as the customer service. Lastly the location is lovely, right on Valencia street where this is lots to see and do.

Jazmyn R.

Yelp
The breakfast empanadas are so bomb. I came in for one but the dude kept it in the toaster oven too long but he said he'd give me another one if i waited 5 more minutes. NBD. N he ended up giving me 3 :') real nice front stafff ppl. I also love the mushroom n banana dulce de leche as well. yee

Andrea S.

Yelp
We stopped at Venga during our wedding Second Line and they took fantastic care of us! Everyone raved about the empanadas and the sangria! The staff was kind and accommodating, they felt like part of the party by the end! Working with Patricia ahead of time made the event memorable for everyone involved! Thanks, Venga for making our wedding so special!

Lety C.

Yelp
I wanted an empanada so bad and found this place on Valencia. Unfortunately there was something missing on the seasoning to remind me of Buenos Aires. I tried the spinach one (creamy but a bit tasteless), Argentinean beef, chorizo and spicy beef nothing really hit the mark. Service was fast and it's a very chill vibe.

Tomoko R.

Yelp
Been looking for empanadas for a long time. This place makes very best empanadas. Great portion w a ton of stuffings. Baked not deep fried. So tasty and light meal to go with wine( $10 for a glass of wine & a empanada) Awesome flavors!

Jarred M.

Yelp
Cashier didn't bother letting me know they had zero chimichurri sauce nor salsa left after I already ordered $30 worth of empanadas.... Used to go here all the time but who eats their empanadas with neither of the two sauces.....

Mario R.

Yelp
I was in a class field trip to try out latin American food which led me to Venga Empandas. It´s nice that there was a thin table circling around some stools, enough for people to enjoy food outside, along with two tables by the side of the entrance. Walking inside, there were thin tables leading you to where you should go with the rich smell of chicken coming from the kitchen. I ordered a Guacho Chicken Empanada along with Tango Mango. When the food came in, the bread was crunchy enough to compliment the chicken inside. The best comparison I can think of is a flauta but adding sauce to the meal didn´t add anything special. As for the Tango Mango, you can tell it had the mango taste but the juiciness like others just wasn´t there. I would defiently visit here again but I´d want a few changes to my meal.

Iliana P.

Yelp
This is my go-to place for a potluck or picnic! They have a large selection of both meat and veggie empanadas. I've pretty much tried all the flavors and everything is scrumptious with my favorites being the three cheese and walnuts and the chorizo. I recommend eating them with the sauces for extra flavor.
