Was recommended to visit Venice in Montreal to try the poke bowls, but I had doubts about whether or not the poke bowls would be good (as I am from Vancouver and we have a lot of amazing poke spots) so I never prioritized coming here. However, while exploring Old Montreal, I stumbled upon this restaurant and decided to give it a try. It definitely did not disappoint!!
We got the Salmon Poke Bowl ($17.95) and the Gjelina Flatbread ($14.45). The Salmon Poke Bowl was delicious! They put a generous amount of salmon, and all the flavours in the bowl really came together. There were yuzu strips, lychee bits, seaweed salad, ginger, seaweed strips and each bite was super refreshing, fresh, and tasty!
The Gjelina Flatbread was also delicious as well! My first impression of the pizza when it came was "boy, they skimped out on the prosciutto" as I only saw 3 slices. I was soon proven very wrong as we munched away at the pizza and realized that the ratio of the prosciutto perfect! In addition, the crust was perfectly toasted, and the balsamic vinegar-like sauce on top really complimented how creamy the cheese was. They also layered up the pizza with a lot of arugula and it was overall a great flatbread!
The interior was also super beach-y and california like which really nicely contrasts the Old Montreal vibes! Overall, I was super happy with this spot and loved both dishes equally! That is usually rare for me because when I order a few dishes from a restaurant, I usually pick my favourite and have a dish that I gravitate to. Definitely will try other items on the menu next time I'm back!
