Venice on the Beach Hotel

The staff is very kind and helpful, but the facility requires maintenance. It’s a shame because the location is truly exceptional, but its potential is not being utilized. The terrace and the garden furniture, despite the known challenges due to the aggressiveness of the salt air given the seaside location, are very deteriorated. The oceanfront room is tiny and doesn’t even allow for a suitcase to be opened without obstructing movement around the bed. The bathroom door drags on the floor and doesn’t open properly, and the refrigerator is extremely noisy at night. The bathroom is very small, but the shower is large enough. All the taps and metal parts are rusty, making even clean areas seem dirty. It’s great that hot and cold water dispensers, a kettle, and a microwave are available for a quick breakfast (although nothing is provided, not even tea or instant coffee) if you buy something from outside. In conclusion, the advantage is the location; the disadvantages concern the facility, but it’s hard to find much better in that area.

Windows on ground floor rooms do not lock, management at front desk did not see issue or concern with that after expressing how secure the building was (both front & back door were propped open as this was explained to us.) Small rooms with smaller bathrooms that were damp and moldy. Guests can hear everything and everyone around them through the thin walls. Location was great, but does not make up for the disappointing room situation and lack of sleep because of security concerns and other noisy guests.

Positive: Location and proximity to the beach. Staff were helpful and friendly. The sheets looked clean and the pillows were in good shape. The TV was nice. They offered beach towels. Negative: My room felt worn. The fridge stand had significant water damage. The bed squeaked loudly when I sat down on it. Some of the outdoor furniture was worn out or torn. It wasn't as nice as the pictures. I expected more for the price.

My husband and I check in for 3 nights and we love it. The beach is so close that you could hear the waves. Night time is quite, there is no bums roaming so it's safe. There is rooftop and a patio to chill. You can hear people passing on daylight talking outside but I'm not bothered with it cause we're not always there in our room. The bathroom is small but decent. It can be hot in the evening even with the window open so we don't use the blanket and it will be fine,and this is December too. The price for an oceanfront room is 200 and I think it's worth it. People at the front desk are nice and accommodating. Parking your car will be difficult because they don't have enough space and you have to pay 20 dollars for a reservation. Well, that's it. I would definitely come back if we ever miss the beach.

Only downside was the rooms are a bit small, but given the location, we were only in the room to sleep. Jamie checked us in and out and made us feel so welcome!! The patio and fire pit was such a nice place to spend the evening, walking distance to everything. My son and I had the best time and would absolutely book again if (more like when) we travel to Venice beach again !

Deshawn was absolutely helpful and courteous in the front desk! Location is everything and rooms were clean. There is a seating area and a fire pit overlooking the ocean. Parking was good in the front and overall felt safe in the property.

Venice on the beach.|This hotel was the worst disappointment of our 4 week holiday.|The first disappointment was the reception clerk saying that there was no parking space for our car on the hotel premises, so we had to park our car on the public road. This was told to us by the most uninterested and rude reception clerk, we have ever met. There is no elevator. Then we entered the room where we were attacked by a thick gloric smell that made me instantly sick for 2 days. Then we found the earplugs on the nightstand, that says enough on it own. Then we wanted to load our telephone / computer, where the sparks came out of the lose hanging socked from the wall. In the room only 2 sockets. Very dangerous! The bathroom was another disaster: grotty, dirty with cracked tiles and dirty corners. Therefore shower with your eyes closed and pray for the best. The internet-wifi is either very very slow or not working at all. The heating / airco is not functioning so we had to sleep in a very cold room. The safe was locked when we entered the room and was therefore not usable for us. No fresh towels are provided during the stay and the rooms are really noisy, you can hear the neighbors literally. All in all: a big disaster and a big NO-GO, avoid these hotel premises! Hopefully the bed bugs have not found this hotel.|You can go up to the reception desk with this list of malfunctions and they might solve 1, 2 or maybe 3. Though for the price this hotel charges, you want it to work all instantly.

Excelent location literally ocean front in the heart of venice beach! But the rooms are old, pillows and bedrooms are not really confortable and also you can hear what is happening in the rooms. Staff is really friendly. I think that if they invest money in the furniture and rooms can be an excellent hotel. You can get free water and ice.

Stayed here last night. The room was clean and it is located on Venice Beach. If you are looking for somewhere fancy to stay this is not the place for you. If you are looking for somewhere to stay that is clean and on the beach that won't cost you a fortune then book your room now. I'm only giving 4 starts because the walls are very thin and the people above us must have been elephants. It is an older hotel so I understand. I would definitely stay here again.

I recommend this hotel due to the location & price,Noel hepled me out this time. You're walking to the beach sand It's not the most luxurious or anything but it's clean comfy & they have a cool lounge upstairs w/a great view of the beach/boardwalk...another lounge downstairs w/a fireplace,tables & chairs.. I've been here maybe 5 times..good everytime. You won't regret it..there's only one large room w/a living room...ask for that one fist lol

Location- perfectly located right in Venice Beach on the beach walkway. Hotel- rooms are compacted in to this small building so the WALLS AND FLOORS ARE VERY THIN. You can hear EVERYTHING. Parking- $20/day. Be sure to reserve at the time of booking. Staff- front desk is blah. Overnight security guard was pleasant. Cleanliness- room was clean Amenities- outdoor seating area, rooftop seating area, microwave and ice maker Our stay was just OKAY. Will we book this hotel again? NO.

Parking is atrocious, basically non existent. For $350 / night, parking should be included. TV in room did not work properly and desk clerk did not know how to assist, bathroom is so small the shower door only opened 1/2 way banging I to the sink. "Extra large" double bed, is JUST a double bed, nothing extra and very hard. So disappointed. The ONLY plus was that I walked out of the hotel and right onto the beach.

Recently stayed at Venice on the Beach Hotel. The place is amazing! Right to the beach with the beautiful ocean. The room is very clean and comfortable! And the most incredible is the manager- Larry. He is the sweetest person I ever met. He made our stay very pleasant. Was very quick check in with no problem at all. He was there to answer all our questions, and when we need something-he was there to help us with a benevolent smile and attention to our needs. Lovely place and incredible employee.

A refreshingly basic hotel on a beachfront property in LA at a reasonable cost. Great location for exploring Venice Beach and Santa Monica. Still holding tight to post Covid rules, like eliminating morning coffee and breakfast and having to request room service.

Aweful experienc! I believe I was scammed. I went to their own website to book the queen suite with the kitchenette and so many things were wrong: Floors were sticky, bathroom shower had black mold, There was shit on the toilet cover, The bedroom mattress & the pull out couch mattress were ancient and thoroughly uncomfortable (clerk gave us another comforter and two thin blankets to put under sheets) didn't help anything. We could feel the coils! My sister had to sleep sideways at the end of the mattress on pull out couch mattress to avoid the bars sticking through. At 4:30-6:30 the next morning, whoever was upstairs with boots on, made a ton of noise, moved furniture, etc., so there was no sleep! (told the clerk, nothing was done. it happened every morning!) The slider to patio and beach view was broken-absolutely wouldn't slide so we told clerk again who said sorry and did nothing but say just both of you push it. My sister and I spent 40 minutes digging out years of packed dirt in the tracks and spraying WD40 but it still didn't slide without tremendous force. There was a piece of wood in track for safety because it didn't close all the way and had no lock! the screen didn't close all the way either! The kitchen, floors and bathroom were dirty too. No paper towels or cleaners or clean sponges were available. We had to buy them. We decided we just couldn't stay and clerk said did you book with us, I said yes and he said we can refund your money for the nights not stayed-you have until 11:00 to decide. We said we'd think about it & returned a 1/2 hour later, at 10am, to say we were leaving and suddenly he said I had booked with Expedia.com. (I have never ever used Expedia or any other third party to book a trip.) Then he pulled a fake bill out saying I had paid $1300+ through Expedia. I said I booked with you directly and spoke with you! I booked directly through the website and called the front desk to book with the clerk. $1300+ for 4 nights. When I looked at the email confirmation, it looked like it came from Venice on the Beach Hotel, but evidently, not sure how, but a third party (Reservation Desk.com) was involved & had tacked on $505.00 more dollars in more "taxes and fees" and it was non-refundable. He refused to refund the money. We didn't sleep for 4 days and only used shower once because it was all moldy. We had to wear shoes or peds the entire time because our feet were sticking to the floor! We never opened the sliders because we hurt our backs trying to move it! I had stayed there 20 years ago when it was under different management. A few years ago, when I was visiting family, I stopped by and took one of their business cards and that's the same number that's on their website, the same number I called to book the room. Something fishy is going on when you book with them. Something is not right. They didn't care that things were dirty or wrong in the room. Sad. It's a great location, but it is subpar for how expensive it is. Awful experience. Just awful. and doors to the hotel are kept open so anyone off the street can just walk in. We left it cleaner than it was and took pictures of all the filth and chips in the floor and the mold, etc. Awful experience. :(

The location is perfect: right up against the sand and close to restaurants, bars, and coffee shops. Larry was extremely warm and welcoming and an absolute gent throughout! Would highly recommend. Oh, and there's a sweet fire pit to enjoy too!

Went online to Hotels.com and booked one night at the hotel. It gave me two options... I may purchase it at the time of making my reservation or I have the other option of "pay at the hotel." I opted to pay at the hotel. I then received an email from the hotel asking for credit card as they wanted to do a pre-payment. I told them that was not what I agreed upon on my reservation with Hotels.com. They continued to tell me that in order to keep my hotel room I would need to pay upfront. Again I told them that that's not the option I had chosen on Hotels.com. They then suggested that I go onto their website and read their policy. Needless to say... I canceled altogether and will take my business elsewhere. Nowhere during checkout and booking this room did it state that I would need to do a pre-payment or pay anything upfront. They should disclose this somewhere while checking out/reserving.

My best friend and I stayed overnight here and had the best time. We only had time for a one night getaway and this place was perfect. Cute little room, literally on the sand and just a few blocks away from Venice and Muscle Beach. I'll definitely stay here again. Jonathan was also super helpful and accommodating!

Don't worry about a thing! Book your stay on the beach, very friendly staff! Wonderful location, great view from the patio and rooftop! Lots of great restaurants very near, boardwalk just a short walk away! Remember to book your parking well in advance by calling the friendly staff!

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. The pictures are a little deceiving as yes you are right on the beach but it looks a lot better in the ad it's somewhat of a trap. The boardwalk is pretty disgusting and even though it closes at 9 people are partying all night and we stayed on a Tuesday. I booked on Hotwire so I didn't actually pick this place but one thing I made sure was the ad said there was parking and there is NOT parking. They recommend you park in a garage that is several blocks away, charges $20 a night and is only to store your car. The attendant told us we were not allowed to go in and out. They also charged me a $250 deposit which was fine I got back but they never even advised me they were charging me this and Hotwire did not either. I would absolutely never stay here again. The room was decent and pretty clean but also didn't feel safe as it's a key code entry and no other way to truly secure the door. Also our door had to be lifted up to close.

I'd rate 5 stars if I could, but unfortunately I didn't get to actually stay there, as my vacation plans were cancelled. However, their customer service was amazing, which can only mean my actual stay would've been even better. They clarified any issues I had booking with a third party website, (SAVE YOURSELF TIME, DIRECTLY BOOK WITH THEM.) were patient in answering all of my annoying questions and emails, and made my refund a breeze. Although it said I would receive it in 5-10 building days, I received it in full in 3 days. Overall awesome, other hotels should take notes!

My boyfriend and I were looking for something moderately priced and in front of the beach. Venice on the beach hotel was that and so much more! The room was exceptionally clean when we arrived, and the staff (including Amy and Maria) were so sweet and helpful. Breakfast was yummy. I have no complaints and I would definitely recommend it to friends and come back :)

I just arrived back home in Miami after a 4-day visit to LA. I have to say that this hotel is AMAZING. The customer derived is top-notch; one morning I woke up and had almost completely lost my voice, the next day it was a little better and the nice woman at the check-in desk said "your voice is better today!" When have you gone to a hotel where people even care?! I am freelance photographer and had a glitch with my battery, she charged it for me after k checked out while I roamed around Venice with a friend. The room, amazing. The views, amazing. The comfort of the bed, wonderful. Only thing is, the bathroom was a bit small and uncomfortable. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!!

Clean and comfy and affordable. Some breakfast and free WiFi. The best part is right on the beach front near the pier and great restaurant by main st and walking to muscle beach. The only problem is parking, limited spot and must reserve ahead. Free street parking on Pacific Avenue a walking distance but be aware of street sweeping.

Gorgeous and cute old-school hotel right on the beach. Rooms are clean and well appointed. Brightly decorated but smallish rooms welcomes. The evening manager is incredibly nice and did everything possible to make our stay perfect. The day manager is also a great guy. My family enjoyed staying here for two days. The continental breakfast is minimalist but the important stuff is all there (e.g.bagels, coffee, juice, out meal, yogurt). Beds are comfortable. Strongly recommend calling in advance to reserve a parking space.

Absolutely love this little gem of a hotel. We had a great experience here. We only stayed one night, price was decent, good for being right on the boardwalk. We were assigned a queen size bedroom with a view of the boardwalk and ocean. Some might say it was a little small, but the view definitely made the size better. It was perfect for us!! Greg, who checked us in was very friendly, gave us tour and let us know how to get to the hot spots. This hotel kinda felt like being in someones home, it was cozy, quiet and you kinda felt like you were the only one staying there. The hotel was pretty secure, gated and had key code for entry into the hotel, which made you feel safe when you arrived late at night or if you were just hanging out on the patio. The hotel is located down the boardwalk where a lot of the nice homes are located, so you weren't in the middle of the boardwalk chaos. There are 2 patio areas one on the roof top with a great view of the Pier and the boardwalk and the lower level patio with tables and chairs for lounging. Parking was easy for us, the manager gave us a parking permit to place on our windshield and we were able to park right outside the hotel(in the back alley). Which worked out great for us, if you've been to Venice before, parking can be a real hassle The next time we decide to stay overnight in Venice, I will for sure try this place out again!

Small rooms and small bathrooms but who cares when your on the beach??? Phat location with local eats mixed with Jamaican and stoners = people arching for dayzzzz. Love this hotel wish my fiends booked the next room to party here. Will be back!!!!

This is the perfect location for the beach! This is a tiny hotel with tiny rooms but so worth it! I was not aware I needed to arrange for a parking space in advance...one of the down sides. They only have a few parking spots and after those are reserved, it's street parking a few blocks over for everyone else. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and the ocean breeze met us in the hallway from the doors open. Check in was easy and off to the beach we were. They provide beach towels at the front desk. After our jaunt in the ocean, we laid out on the loungers provided. They also have comfy couches and chairs also with a gas fire pit. They have an outdoor shower as well as a place to just rinse your feet before going back inside. The fire pit isn't automatically turned on but they assisted us with our request quickly. We enjoyed the sun setting from outside. The hotel is just a few minutes walk to the merchants in Venice Beach. It's also only about a 15-20 minute walk to Gold's Gym. The room had a fridge and a nice size closet that our suitcase fit in so we could get it out of the way. The rooms do not have A/C which unfortunately caused an issue for one of us. The ocean lacked any breeze the night we stayed so it was very warm in the room even with the windows open. They offer a continental breakfast which we didn't make it to as we were out exploring. They have scooters and bicycles you can find to rent close by for more adventures. We didn't want to venture out for dinner so we used Yelp and had food delivered without an issue. It was a nice and calm place with a beautiful view and just a few steps to the beach. We will definitely be back again!

I have nothing but wonderful things to say! Amy and Maria were so kind and attentive. I asked them to help me surprise my boyfriend with a little somethin' for his graduation and they went above and beyond. The room was small and cozy and with a view of the beach. The rooftop patio was my favorite part. Definitely a top pick for a weekend getaway. Thanks again to the team over there!

Location is AMAZING but that's about it!! The good thing is literally close to everything you would want the sand, water, shopping. Beautiful Views from the patio.l nice and clean. Staff were super nice check in not a problem. The BAD paper thin walls, you can hear everything even people having Intercourse upstairs we got woken up at 6:30 am from people just waking upstairs. We could hear the bums outside our window and lastly PARKING sucks like they only have like 5 parking spots and you have to reserve them ahead of time otherwise you are forced to look for parking took me about 1 hour to find a spot like 6 blocks away not exaggerating. Never again!

Prepare for a sleepless night here. One of the employees parks his car (Nissan Maxima) and the car alarm goes off at least once an hour. When I asked him what the deal is. He gave me a blank stare and said it won't happen again. Well, less than 20 minutes later it went off again. Right in front of the room that I was staying at.

No parking, poor guest service, and bugs in the room. My boyfriend made a reservation for last Saturday over the phone. While making the reservation he was told there was no parking available at the hotel but that there was plenty of parking around the hotel on the streets that was 24 hour parking and would be available. Upon arrival we waited two hours for a hotel manager because nobody was manning the front desk. The cleaning service told us several times that the manager was on lunch and would be returning in 20 minutes. An hour and a half later they called him and told him there were guests waiting for him. He then had a conversations with the cleaning person and she proceeded to open up room 2 for us and asked us if we wanted our things while pointing to someone else's luggage. We explained to her that we were checking in and that luggage in room 2 wasn't ours. After the manager finally showed up and checked us in we tried for another hour to find parking before we were told that we could park at the hotel in the manager's spot. When we got back to the hotel the manager on duty told me how they never do this but they are doing it as a huge favor to us and basically made me feel bad about it. We finally got into our room and there were bugs flying around it. Our tv stopped working right after we got there. Overall it was a very poorly managed hotel.

This little boutique hotel is perhaps the most expensive 2 star hotel you'll ever stay in but well worth it. The location is fun-tastic: located directly on the quieter part of the Venice Beach Walk (towards Marina Del Rey), with the wide beach right in front of you. Venice Beach pier is close. The hotel: A three-story-house with small, cozy rooms, but newly renovated. Comfortable beds (mattresses on the harder side) and small bathroom with shower. Great rooftop with awesome views and terrace on the lower level. Service: Attention to detail and friendly check-in. Breakfast included (bagels, coffee, tea, fruit) which I like. A Starbucks is also in walking distance. Parking is extra ($15 per day). I recommend bringing some ear plugs as the rooms are not much isolated and it can get a bit noisy from the hotel neighbors or the street. Albeit the high prices this is my favorite hotel in Venice - can't beat the location!

An amazing weekend spent at the Venice on the Beach Hotel. The room was perfect size for two. My boyfriend and I stayed in one of the Ocean Front rooms and do not regret it in the slightest. We were able to open our windows completely, lay in bed, and watch football... all while breathing in the ocean breeze. Continental breakfast was perfect. Didn't need much- a few bagels, some bananas, coffee, and yogurt was a perfect start to our morning. The man at the front desk was MORE than helpful allowing us to check-in early, mapping out EXACT spots to park/exact spots not to park, and a friendly hello every passing. He had a positive demeanor and was extremely welcoming. Location could not have been better- we felt safe, we had places to eat/drink, and we could roll out of bed and onto the beach in no time. A great stay in Venice. We will be back :)

Very nice little hotel. Rooms were small but very clean and nice. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Location was perfect. A 7 minute walk to muscle beach in Venice.

so back in la on business monday, - Wednesday nite, then gotta pick up the gf at LAX thursday morning and we decide to stay in la an extra day - let's see, where should we shack up ?!?! my new fav - VENICE ON THE BEACH ! This time, i get an ocean view, upstairs, king-size bed, little kitchenette, big 'ol plasma tv. $150. People - this is a frickin' steal !! i did my usual each day - nice jog on the beach, ending at the liquor store - get the mega-size heineken and sit on the patio and watch the world go by - people, you gotta stop and smell the ocean air !! IT'S ALL GOOD !

It is a bit dated, but they have done remodeling and it is relatively nice. Plus, you are literally right on the beach. Cross the running trail, and dig your toes into the sand. If you get a room facing the ocean, you can hear it all night and go to sleep and wake up with that sound in your ears. Rooms are neat and clean. Rates are very reasonable. In the neighborhood of million-dollar beach town homes this little pink jewel is quite a find. It is just a brisk walk down from the Venice Pier and W Washington Blvd with much of the nightlife. It is also very close to Marina Del Rey gorgeous neighborhood (I would HIGHLY recommend taking a stroll there, as it is definitely one of the highlights of this area). I don't know if the hotel still allows it, but when I stayed there, you could walk up onto the roof. It has some pretty great views. People watching from the stone-and-glass covered yard is also one of the highlights -- be it morning, day, or night, you're bound to see some interesting characters walking by. One of the cons is the limited parking. In the back, they have some parking spots, but I can see it being a potential issue, so call ahead to ask them if you're planning to have a car during your stay. Overall, a great place to stay!

Can't think of enough good things to say about this little gem of a hotel! Stayed here on our way back from Cuba and it was awesome! 15 minutes from the airport and late check in was easy! Our room was overlooking the beach so we were able to open the windows and fall asleep to the sound of the surf. Despite being right on the boardwalk, there was very little noise. In the morning we were able to walk to brunch at our first choice but if we hadn't gotten in, there were about a million choices. Super friendly, laid back, comfortable and mega convenient. I couldn't have picked a better place to stay on our first night back in the US!

I enjoyed my stay at VotBH, but I was not thrilled at how tiny the rooms were. There were 2 small chairs but one of them was always blocking something - the walkway, the fridge, or the nightstand. The bathroom door, when open, blocked the wall-mounted TV. There is not enough room for 2 people to comfortably pass each other anywhere in the U-shaped tiny wedge of space around the bed, and it is impossible for 2 people to be in the bathroom unless one is in the shower, which is, you guessed it, very small. It feels like a somewhat upgraded dormitory, especially with so many rooms crammed into each floor. The Venice on the Beach Hotel makes up for these shortcomings, however by being a) RIGHT on the beach, within view and earshot of the waves and b) having a very nice (if astroturfed) roof deck, where it's nice to just stare into the Pacific Ocean and watch the passerby down below. There's always a bunch of dogs that stop to take a drink out of the dog bowls, and it's nice to see all the different breeds of furry friends people have, and the dogs are almost always happy to be somewhere they can run and play more or less freely, that was a nice added bonus. Late at night it also makes a wonderful place to just sit and think. There's also a nice downstairs courtyard. And it's a short walk from the pier, the canals, and the main boardwalk area. Other amenities include wi-fi and a halfhearted continental breakfast, standard sorta fare - apples, oranges, bagels, cereal, milk, juice. I would give this place four or five stars if the rooms were even a small amount bigger. As it was though, my husband and I were tripping each over whenever we were both awake, so it made it tricky to get the full relaxation we were hoping for on our getaway.

The three stars is because the location is great and can't be beat, and Charlie was helpful in finding us restaurants. The room was incredibly small. We had our suitcases on the floor and had to jigsaw ourselves to move around the room. The floor did feel slimy and moist. There was an air conditioning unit in our room that Charlie said was installed last week so didn't work yet. Our room was so hot and had no ventilation as you could only open the window a crack. The room was very bright and the continental breakfast was really good! We had our coffee upstairs outside every morning. The bathroom is a reason I will not stay here again however. The shelf above the sink was a thick glass Slab and was not connected to anything and nearly fell out of the prongs if you put anything on it! So dangerous! Because of this it was also slanted down and nothing stayed on it. Not sure how maid service noticed that and didn't do anything or say anything-it is a lawsuit waiting to happen. I told Charlie about it and he seemed to know exactly what I was talking about, which was a tell tale Sign that this has been an existing problem. There was also nowhere to put anything in the bathroom because the sink was round and just a standalone sink. The towel rack was six feet up above the toilet, and there were no hooks for towels anywhere in the bathroom. Again I told Charlie this and he thanked me for the recommendation. The location is everything here- 5 minute walk from the sightseeing of Venice beach, close to restaurants and the downstairs and upstairs patio are killer!

For a sightseeing vacation of L.A. area, you can't miss with this hotel. It's right on the beach and just around the corner from several great restaurants and bars. It doesn't offer much in way of services or extras but when your purpose is to enjoy the sights, it's not likely you'll be spending much time in the room anyway. There was coffee, juice and sweets for breakfast as well as internet access. The rooms were average in size, comfortable with flat screen TV and kitchen with small fridge. There's only a few parking spots behind the hotel but we were fortunate not having any difficulty getting one. We were told, however, that there was free parking available a few blocks away. We selected the cheaper rooms to the back. The only noises we heard were the garbage and delivery trucks. Of course, the hotel can't be held responsible for this. There's also a patio right along the main walking path or on the roof to sit and have drinks while watching people go by or just looking out over the beach. I loved Venice Beach and will definitely go back! Riding a tandem bike along the beach was great fun! It's also not far from Santa Monica pier to take in the amusement park or do some shopping on 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica.

Such an amazing hotel, not only is it comforting and cozy being that's it's a boutique hotel but the location is awesome. Me and my girlfriend stayed there for a Valentine's get away and we enjoyed ourselves. Parking sucks lol but it's ok also the rooms don't have bath tubs which sucks to if your with your significant other. Great hotel tho we will be back

My girlfriend and I stayed here because it was close to the beach, but now we know- location ISN'T everything. We reserved a "deluxe" room and got there a couple hours before check-in time. The guy at the front desk was nice but told us we couldn't check in until the check in time. That made sense so we were cool with that. We ended up with a room right next to the parking lot and you could hear EVERYTHING in the parking lot and in the alley. DO NOT stay in any of the rooms next to the parking lot or alley- you'll hear every conversation in the parking lot,. You can't close the windows if its warm because the rooms have no A/C. In these rooms, you'll also hear the back entry door open and close EVERY time. Its the only back entry door during the day and the ONLY door after 9pm or 10pm or so. With this being Venice beach, that door sees a lot of movement, so expect to be woken up every 15 minutes or so with either a slamming door or a conversation literally 10 ft from you. Even with the noise, we didn't spend a lot of time in the room, so whatever. BUT then you have the floors. There are ceramic tiles on the room floors and you can't (and shouldn't) walk barefoot on them- they feel as if they haven't been mopped in years. My girlfriend and I thought the floor felt funny (a little slimey) so we just wore our flip flops when walking in the room. The next morning, we complained to the hotel staff that the back room should not be rented to guests without warning and they certainly shouldn't be rented out at the same rate as the other rooms. The staff was nice but they couldn't do anything but apologize. That staff aren't to blame. Management just sucks. A great location doesn't mean the hotel can just ignore everything else, put guests in the worst rooms, and call it a "deluxe" room. I'd pay extra and stay at another place. The place is run by Westside Rentals now. That explained much.

Charlie and Amy rock! From the reservation on the phone to the check out and everything in between was spectacular! This IS the place to stay. Great room with a stupid fantastic view right on the water. You can hear the waves all night. I'll be back big time. Next to all the pubs and great restaurants. You will enjoy your stay.

Awesome location! We were only there for one night but we went on walks to the Venice Canal and to Mothers Beach in Marina Del Rey. Walked to restaurants and bars on Washington Blvd. Charlie was very friendly and attentive. When the DirectTV kept going out he came up to fix it and offered to put in a new box, if need be. When I let him know that the Wi Fi stopped working, he reset it and it was back up immediately. The breakfast was great. Coffee, Orange juice, tea and milk. Plus cereal, bagels and fruit. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated, but somewhat small. The bed was comfortable. It was somewhat warm in the room even though we had a ceiling fan and air conditioner. Not sure how effective the AC would be in really warm weather as it was a cooler night during June gloom. Love the rooftop deck and patio on the strand/beach. Great places to have a glass or wine or eat your breakfast. Great views. Very relaxing. It was not noisy at all and I couldn't hear noise from the other hotel guests. Great experience overall.

This is by far the best place to stay in Venice Beach. Three things to be aware of: limited parking (8 spots, first come first serve), no air conditioning in rooms and no night staff / self entry. Since this isn't a major hotel (it is more of a bed and breakfast) the parking situation is acceptable and there are plenty of other parking options in the area. The air conditioning concerned me a bit, but really turned out not to be an issue since it gets very cool at night and we were there in August, which I'm assuming is probably the hottest month so air conditioning would probably be more of an unnecessary luxury. I also noticed that without the noise of the air conditioning you can actually hear the sound of the waves breaking on the shore in the background at night which was pretty incredible. So considering the cool weather at night and the amazing background of the waves crashing, it actually turned out better not to have AC in the room. Like most of the other hotel's in the area there is no night staff and you have to let yourself in with keys. Again, this seems to be the norm on Venice Beach and the staff did a great job of explaining this and making sure we understood how to get in and what times we should be prepared to let ourselves in. Despite these possible issues, relative to the rest of the area this is definitely one of the best options. First of all, even if you don't stay here make sure you stay in the Southern half of Venice Beach (near the Venice Pier). We had never been to Venice Beach before so we did a little research before and it payed off. The northern half is a lot of fun and fine during the day, but I could definitely see how it could get a little sketchy at night and we walked past a couple of hotels comparable to ours that literally had crowds of weird homeless dudes hanging out right in front of the door. So wherever you stay, just make sure it's in the southern half, cause while the northern half is fun to walk through it's not where you would want to stay. The southern half is much cleaner, nicer and no weird homeless dudes. The Location is a huge plus here, directly on the Ocean Front Walk, right on the beachfront. It was really amazing to be able to walk straight out of our room to the beach. The beach is perfect in this area of Venice, no crowds, just amazing beach. 5 minute walk down the Ocean Front to the center of Venice Beach, perfect distance, not too far, not too close. Staff was great, friendly, helpful and accommodating. Rooms were clean, new and modern. One of the biggest pluses for me was the rooftop balcony which was accessible to everyone, so even if you don't get an Ocean view room you can access the balcony anytime and enjoy the amazing view. It was really beautiful in the morning with the waves crashing and palm trees in the wind. Overall, highly recommended.

I had a lot of serious work to do and I did not want to get disturbed and hence I chose the Venice on the Beach Hotel in Los Angeles. The setting was perfect for me as the room was equipped sufficiently for my needs and also had magnificent view of the ocean. I liked the wooden flooring as I don't care too much for carpeting as they tend to be smelly. The free Internet access was at good speed and I was able to accomplish most of my work. My stay at the hotel for eight days was on a fixed routine. The morning would start off with the free breakfast, where the pineapple juice, bagel, cheese and butter were my staples and ended up with strong coffee. Then I proceeded to the room to start my work for the day. For breaks during my work, I switched on the flat screen TV to watch any sports program. Some days, I ventured out for a few minutes of brisk walk on the sea front taking in the ocean air. A few times I had taken my breakfast to the sun decked terrace and enjoyed the added benefit of a magnificent view of the ocean.

We just stayed at Venice on the Beach on 2 separate nights in the last week, and already can't wait to go back. I was skeptical the first night, we were stuck in a tiny room with a double bed. It was really, really small, and though the room was clean, the walls in the bathroom were quite dirty. I decided that since we were only staying for one night, it would be fine. I'm so glad we did, because the charm of this boutique hotel does not rest solely in its rooms. I came to understand that with a location like this, the only time you need to spend in your room is sleep - any more than that and you are missing out. The location is perfect - right on Venice beach, a couple of blocks from restaurants and pubs, but far enough away from the craziness. There are 2 patios (one main floor, and one top deck) to enjoy the view of the ocean, and watch the locals walk their dogs along the boardwalk. Greg, the manager, is fantastic. Really friendly and so helpful. Whether you need directions, or dinner recommendations, he is always willing to help. Despite the tiny room, we actually checked out of another hotel in order to come back to Venice on the Beach, and Greg was great in getting us in. We got a bigger room, on the main floor, facing the ocean. It is an older hotel, so don't expect perfection - the rooms can be small, and the floors creak, so it can be noisy - but if you are willing to overlook a few small imperfections in order to get a spectacular location and helpful service (at a great price!), then this is the hotel for you.

I only considered staying here because of the high ratings, which I now think were based on location, which would be understandable--great location! However, and I get that it is a beach hotel, but the floor is gritty and looks like it hasn't been mopped in a long time. (Old spills still there covered in dirt.) Room is small, no ceiling fan as represented and shown, shower area has no outside door (toilet has separate area with door and outdated vanity single basin, no counter space or towel rack, but glass shelf above sink. Two bath towels for my son and I. The bed is lumpy and sinks. Hear everything above the room--ear plugs by the night stand should have been the first clue. No coffee pot. Positives? Fresh paint on the walls, 2nd floor coffee urn (the kind you pump and it comes out), 3rd floor deck for great view, time with my son... Should have paid the extra money for a hotel up the coast a little farther.

I absolutely love love love this place. The owner Greg is very helpful and friendly. The room is very clean and refreshing. Big flat screen tv..we watched march madness on it. The beach is right in front of the hotel door. And it is so affordable. There is PARKING for patrons. I couldn't ask for anything more. I forgot to bring a sun umbrella and beach mats, but the hotel had some new ones for us to borrow. Such a good vibe. i can't wait to go back. THanks!

Perfect for Venice Beach. ON the beach, cozy, clean, well taken care of. Enjoyed people watching with wine (no alcohol on the beach) very close to all the excitement and great food. If you are going to do LA, stay here! Romantic weekend? Stay here! You will not be sorry. Cozy rooms but you didn't come here to hang out in a hotel room, did you? Loved it!

Very serviceable spot. Location is of course amazing, as are the front patio and roof deck overlooking the beach. Rooms are very spare and small, but the mini fridge is a nice bonus. Quite clean and tastefully decorated...but again sparse (e.g. there is no shelf in the shower, so you have to stoop down to pick up your shampoo.)

HUGE SCAM DONT GIVE YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO!!!!!!!This hotel canceled my reservation with no explanation months after I made it. I tried to contact them about it and got no response. Months later they tried charging my card for the room they canceled. Then when I called to sort it out the front desk lady hung up on me and refused to answer when I called back. I called booking.com bc the reservation was through them, and they said the front desk lady hung up on them as well! Wow. Thankfully booking.com was helpful in resolving the issue. Don't let these people scam you!

My friend and I stayed here on our first foray into Venice Beach, and overall we were quite pleased. The hotel is perfectly located right on the Venice boardwalk near Washington Blvd. and Marina del Rey. Our room was beautiful: light, airy and sunny. There was a small kitchenette, a huge flatscreen TV, and the world's softest bed that my friend and I are still talking about. I woke up each morning to the sound of the ocean and sea breezes gently blowing on my face. There was free coffee and juice, and a computer/internet available for use. And all of this for a ridiculously great price ... at least we THINK the price was good ... This place only gets four stars because there was never anyone at the front desk to help us. When we arrived the desk was empty with a note which gave cell phone number to call if you needed to check in (I called and got no answer). It worked out okay because the very sweet housekeeper let us into the room. We also gave the housekeeper the key when we left, and we never received a receipt or signed anything. I ran into Greg, the aforementioned manager, only once, though he was pleasant and inquired as to how the accommodations were. Another minor point: when we first arrived, our toilet didn't work (although this was fixed promptly). But in general we had a great experience and I would definitely stay here again.

I don't usually leave bad reviews and so it's taken me 3 months to think this through before I posted this review. But I'm an experienced traveler and think its important to inform others so they can make informed decisions. My adult son and I stayed here in May 2017 for a combination birthday/Mother's Day weekend. We had a terrible stay and will never return. First off, we didn't realize the room would be so small. When I made the reservation, I clearly stated that my adult son and I would be coming and needed whatever larger room they might have and we also needed 2 beds and also wanted an oceanfront room. And while we did get an oceanfront front room, it was so small, it clearly wasnt meant to fit 2 adults. It really only comfortably fits one person. And the awful bathroom!!! Was it a closet at one time? It is so small, we didn't even use it. We were told beforehand, that the rooms with 2 beds were sold out, but we were assured our room would have a queen size bed that would be large enough for 2 adults and they would give us a room with 2 beds upon arrival if there was a cancellation. Upon arrival we were told there were no cancellations so we accepted the room with 1 bed. I can't believe the bed was a queen size. Our feet hung over the end of the bed. Also, the bed was very hard and extremely uncomfortable The worst part of our stay though was the noise all night long coming from the oceanfront boardwalk in front of our room. This hotel is quite close to many bars and the ensuing drunken noise when people leave the bars. There were people screaming right outside our window. Even the earplugs the hotel leaves by the bed (not a good sign!), didn't muffle the noise. My son was so miserable from lack of sleep that at 3 a.m. he finally got up and left and drove 1 1/2 hours home. I complained about the noise in the morning to the front desk staff, and the only comment back to me was "Gee, we haven't had a complaint about noise in that location before". My response back was, "Then why were there earplugs on the night stands?" Blank stare back at me. No offer to compensate. Even an apology would have been nice. As I left, I saw some rooms with 2 beds that appeared to not have been used. I inquired about these and was told they had cancellations and so those rooms were empty. Argh!!!! I'll never return.

Staying at this place feels like staying in somebody's guest house. Craig, the owner/operator is very helpful and was most conducive in contributing to a great experience. The location and amenities are phenomenal for the price! If you've stumbled across this review and are deciding whether or not to stay here, do it!

I just returned from a weekend mommy-getaway where I decided to stay here, alone, due to it's close proximity to everything, especially the beach. I loved it and will be back. PROS: -Location, location, location (right on the beach, steps away from Washington Blvd which has great food, bars, bike rentals, 10-min. walk to muscle beach area, and best of all it's in the safe and quiet residential end of Venice Beach...only sounds of the ocean waves at night) -Loved the wrap around patio and roof deck -Though no phone or clock in room, it had a nice big screen TV, refrigerator, microwave and desk -Greg, the manager, was very helpful. He even helped me troubleshoot my computer when it wasn't accessing the Wi-Fi. I thought it was a problem with the hotel, but he figured it out and it was my computer and he was very gracious about it. He struck me as a personable man with an honest work ethic. -Computer available for guests -Continental breakfast (nothing great, but better than nothing) -Nice hot shower with great water pressure -I thought price was on target based on my extensive hotel search in the area -Parking available, first come first served, but Greg will tell you other close by areas to find parking in a pinch. -Extremely comfortable beds and pillows! A rare find in hotels below 4 stars. CONS -No A/C, though this was fine for me because the weather was in the 70's and perfect. The ceiling fan worked great when needed (rarely) and I noticed a space heater in the closet for colder weather -First floor gets a little noisy at 8am (it's an older building so not much you can do about that). Bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper and want to sleep late. -Trash collector came crashing through town at 6:30a (Mondays are trash days, apparently). Expect a rude awakening those days. -Rooms are small, but nicely decorated and clean. All in all, it was worth the money and the location made up for any shortcomings. I'll be back!

Let me just say that I opened up a Yelp account for the sole purpose of writing this review. This hotel is located right on the boardwalk and it takes less than 10 minutes to walk to the main street. The beach is less than a minute away. The hotel itself is charming. I fell in love with the ocean view. The hallways are painted in vibrant colors and adorned with black and white photos. My only gripe was the size of the bathroom. It was tiny. The walls were also a bit on the thin side. Nonetheless, I would wholeheartedly recommend staying here. The owner was very kind and accommodating. I look forward to staying here again in the future.
