Ventimiglia is an Italian restaurant with a small grocery store on the other end of the building it occupies. I have only been to the grocery store which offers gourmet items to prepare an authentic Italian meal at home.
The grocery store's pasta, meatballs, breadsticks, focaccia, spaghetti sauce, pesto, and Italian dressing are all made in-house. There are also ready-made meals, a sandwich station, an olive bar, and bread made by local bakeries. I have tried Ventimiglia's ready-made salad, meatballs, traditional pesto, pesto alla trapanese, and focaccia. I'm a big fan of the pesto alla trapanese with tomatoes and almonds and love to have it with spaghetti and even rice. The food is good and it's a cute neighborhood store albeit a tad overpriced.
The service is mixed. I've had a few friendly younger workers at the counter. The older workers usually do not speak to me or ask me if I need help.
Something that gave me pause on my last visit was that none of the staff were wearing face masks properly. The majority of them were not wearing a mask at all nor were they wearing gloves. The few that had masks were wearing them under their chin with their mouths and noses exposed.
Furthermore, there is no requirement for customers to wear face masks. Although most customers were wearing masks of their own volition, some did not. One person without a mask can easily infect everyone else crowded in a small space. I left without buying anything and I'm not sure if I'll return until safety standards are increased or there is a vaccine for the virus.
