"This deli has been serving Italian food for more than 60 years out of its Sterling Heights market. Fresh homemade pasta and ravioli, prepared foods, and imported Italian groceries abound. The main reason people go, however, is the legendary Italian sandwich." - Danny Palumbo

Have seen this place for years, never went in till last week. Ended up coming here 3 times within the week. Tried the Italian on a hard roll, a turkey in a hard roll and the prosciutto on a hard roll. As well as the lamb stew they had just made. All very good. Personally not a fan of mortadella so I did take that off the Italian, but my partner is from NYC and loves it and was very happy to see it on a sandwich. The turkey was my favorite so far. Would love to have the option of a little red wine vinegar on the sub instead of just oil. But over all very good! Definitely going in the rotation of lunch and dinners.

Google
Best Italian sandwich I've ever had. Not just in Michigan! I've tried the Italian, rosemary ham and eggplant, prosciutto, and chicken cutlet. Fresh pasta selection here is the best I've seen too. Owner is always behind the counter with the biggest smile. Instagram: @funas_eats_it

Google
This is a great place to grab a good, quick lunch at reasonable price. During lunch there is a team of people in the back ready to make a number of subs, custom to your taste. Grab some pasta salad or a bread stick, and you're good to go. Much more than an Italian market. Great place.

Google
Transports you Into Italy, surrounds you with smells of fresh products, deli, prepared food to go, bakery. It is a feast, Italian subs are prepared right there and are huge and delicious which you can enjoy outside with fresh Italian drink ☺️ it is a bit pricey but cheaper than going to Italy for the same experience !! Clean and overall great fast service.

Google
A birthday sandwich worth driving across the state for! The pasta guy was so lovely and very accommodating to my kid, who was thrilled with his pasta. Killer olive bar and meat counter. Every staff member was friendly. Amazing experience, will be back!

Google
Great Italian market with fresh cooked foods and amazing subs. They have all the goodies from pasta to sauce to olives. I love their subs on hard rolls and need to try some of their fresh Italian classics. Service was great…think of small market with a deli inside making fresh food daily.

Chris Wylie

Google
The best Italian grocery store with the best subs around! Used to come here all the time when I was in the Warren area for work but now it's a rare treat to visit. The turkey sub is great, but definitely try the ham and eggplant. They have fresh baked focaccia too

Google
This $10.99 sub was Amaaazingly Delicious, good ratio of meat & cheese on a Tringalis soft sub bun. This is only half of the sandwich 😋, so for me 2 meals with some chips. Tried Bommaritos, tried Ventimiglia (The best so far) next, I will try Angela's. The sub dressing I got on the side, is just Olive Oil & a mix Italian Spices. Got home, I tried their dressing, it was good, but missing something, so I used Italian dressing, it was soooooo good. Got dessert too 😂 😂 it was delicious as well & a product of Italy for under $7.00.

Yelp
Love to visit local Delis when traveling This one is exceptional from the people to the food .. Got the Italian with peppers on a hard roll and it's delicious Also took some Meatballs and meat sauce and focaccia bread for later and they didn't disappoint!

Gus G.

Yelp
I am so mad at myself. I've driven by this place for years on visits to my in laws. I recently read a story rating Ventimiglia shop as top rated subs in Michigan. So my wife picked up the Italian Loaf with extra meat with a few rolls on the side for my order. Yum, Yum, Yum My wife showed my some photos from inside and I could not believe She didn't buy anything else‍. Home made pasta and sauces. All sorts of goodies to eat. I will be back soon for myself on my Christmas visit in Sterling Heights. It's a must stop by and look and Buy some Italian goods. I don't think you'd be disappointed.

Joseph G.

Yelp
The. Real. Deal. Real fun place to shop in. Get your wallets out because if you're anything like me, you just can't pass up quality. A small little store with a lot of products. Including a great deli selection. House made counter and sandwich counter in the back. I had the classic Italian on a hard roll. Also the prosciutto on a hard roll. I grabbed some great store selections as well. Beef and spinach ravioli, gnocchi, Italian sausage and cannolis. 100% would be there multiple times a week if I was local.

Codie Nicole A.

Yelp
I keep having friends mention this place so I finally made the time and came over this way. I walked in and was surrounded by by deli counters, olive bar, and the walls lined with different coolers and fresh bread loaves. After wandering around for a bit I made my way to the back and was greeted by the friendliest woman who asked if I had ever been there before and gave me the most through run down of the sandwich options! I'm definitely a hard roll girly it's the perfect texture to pair with the prosciutto I decided on. This has to be in my top 5 favorite sandwiches ever. Perfectly thin slices of prosciutto with lettuce, tomato, provolone, onion, and of course O&V. The stopped by the olive bar and got a mix and a spinach and cheese loaf and I'll tell ya nothing left me disappointed. I cannot wait to come back!! Need to pick up some fresh pasta and sauce next time too but unfortunately I wasn't going straight home so I had to leave it.

Mary Z.

Yelp
Great place to stop by and grab delicious subs! You have the choice of soft roll or hard roll. For the hard rolls, they take out some of the bread so they can stuff more filling inside. The Italian on hard roll is my favorite.

Dan G.

Yelp
The food is amazing. There are items here that I would never been able to try until I came into this store. Their subs are absolutely amazing, probably the best around. The service is fast and staff have always been friendly and always willing to help you out.

Jared H.

Yelp
Without a doubt one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. The bread was phenomenal, the meat was perfect, and the hot peppers were next level. I'd eat those out of a Tupperware by themselves. So good. I'll be back, soon!

Jenniffer B.

Yelp
Wonderful experience! Highly recommended! This place is a staple in the area, if you can...stop by. You won't be disappointed

Alexander A.

Yelp
Love the grocery store and deli, but the sandwiches were just ok. Got the Italian on a hard roll with hot peppers and it was fine, but honestly nothing to write home about. Service was great and the inside was nice!

Jared S.

Yelp
My go to place when I want a homemade style sub. 100% recommend Ventimiglia.............

Sama C.

Yelp
You want Eye-talian in the middle of -Nowhere, Michigan- then this spot is it! They have a wide variety of everything... imported meats, cheeses, homemade pastas, salads, dishes, sandwiches, breads, novelty items, etc etc. I came here to try out their Italian sandwich which was quite tasty. What makes an Italian sandwich standout?? It's the dressing of course! This spot has a unique dressing on their hero sandwich. I highly suggest getting it on the Hard Roll also. It holds everything better since there are a lot of items to build this bad boy. I also tried their chicken cutlet with fried eggplant parm sandwich which was tasty as well. The chicken cutlets were thick and meaty, good size to them. The eggplant was not mushy or slimy. I had this on the Soft Roll. It was the right choice. The staff was awesome here. It made you feel welcomed and like you were family, even though I'm not from the area... coming from New Jersey WE KNOW what an Italian deli/market is all about. This joint is Michigan's own!

Melissa B.

Yelp
Literally one of my favorite Italian food markets ever! My family and I have been coming here for 15+ years now and it never disappoints. They have a fresh pasta counter, a deli counter, sub station, olive bar, daily soups, grocery items, a good sized beverage fridge, and more!! Some of my favorite items to get from here are lasagna, meatballs, calamari, and Italian subs on either hard or soft rolls (it's always good to ask for the hot peppers on the side!). The workers are always friendly and helpful and I recommend this place to anyone I know quite often. In the summer they sometimes have gelato being sold in a cart right outside the store too. There's a couple umbrella tables with chairs right outside to where you can sit and eat in the warmer months.

Scott H.

Yelp
Excellent old school food preps & sub sandwiches All items in store seem week worth to try

Deanna D.

Yelp
Always love my trips to this deli/amazing store. I love their hard roll Italian subs. I went in the afternoon and it was packed. Outdoor seating greets you, then a nice young lady offers to sell gelato yummy, before you even enter the market. First you see the meats ready to be cut to your specification, they have cooked meals to heat, fresh pasta and sauces to make at home. They have so many delicious items besides the subs you order in the back. Go check them out, it's very much worth the drive.

Krista C.

Yelp
Best subs around! You won't regret coming here They also sell hot Italian food that smells delicious. I'll have to try it sometime but am currently too addicted to the subs to try anything else. Italian sub on a hard roll with hot peppers. Trust me, you'll love it!

Sandra E.

Yelp
My husband and shop at Ventimiglia's for a long time. We love the subs, Italain food and cookies! However, today is the first time We are disappointed. Our hard roll Italian subs we made on burnt hard rolls. We were so hungry that we ate until the last one third of the sub. It may be because when I called in the order I was told 20 minutes but I had mentioned that my husband was on his way now and will be there In a few minutes. He was on his way to the airport and was running behind. I didn't mention that, though. See picture. Sincerely, Sandra and Jack

Nina N.

Yelp
Ain't she a beaut?! It's the only sub I've tried from here and it's the only sub I need: Italian on a hard roll with hot peppers added. When I walked in, I asked the young man behind the deli counter if he had any made up and he shook his no but said it would only take a couple of minutes. He whipped up a mighty fine sandwich in no time and I was happily on my way. They have so much more to offer, though! Freshly made soups and take home dinners look fantastic and one of these days, I'm sure I will find out. Stop in and grab a quickie!

Lisa W.

Yelp
A friend has always raved about the sub sandwich's and Italian foods at Ventimiglia's that when a co worker and I were in the area at lunch we had it give them a try Easy to find with lots of parking we arrived in the middle of the lunch rush Spent a few minutes checking the shop out as we made our way back to the sandwich counter in the back . Organized confusion Number was called and we ordered two of the Italian subs, one hard roll, one soft roll, no peppers. They were quickly grabed a couple of beverages, hit the checkout register in the front and back to our desk to enjoy. Ended up trading half each so we could both test the difference between the hard roll and soft roll, I personally like the hard roll, but the soft roll was pretty darn good also. Great flavors and good proportions of the ingredients The sandwiches are big, ended up, saving some and having for lunch the next day. Plan on returning for another sub, and to check out some of their fresh in frozen products. The selection of cured meats looked amazing.

Jim O.

Yelp
Once again - shared an Italian sub - hard roll , with hot peppers- EXCELLENT! Added in some spicy orzo salad - tasted great. Quite a well run place, lots of people making sure you are finding what you want. Super pleasant, young workers- who really seemed to be enjoying their job !

Annette K.

Yelp
I love their subs - but the last time I was there the order was really messed up - I asked for "regular" with onions on both subs and peppers on one of them. I received both with peppers and no onions on either. The eggplant/ham sub was correct. The peppers are too hot for my daughter, so she was unable to eat it. I just feel that for $40 for three subs my order should have been correct. I did think about reaching out, but I was not willing to drive back - over 10 miles - and I ordered at the counter, so there was no way to confirm what I had ordered. The nice young lady that took/made my order did ask me three times what I ordered, but unfortunately it was not made correctly. Very nice and attentive staff - I wish the online ordering could be done without using a delivery site that charges more for the subs. I am also not a fan of calling in an order.

Dan M.

Yelp
Traditional Italian market not far from my work. I often stop in here and get a sub or something from their salad and soup bar. Totally worth stopping in but I already know This is a neighborhood favorite.

Carole C.

Yelp
Great ready-made dishes: lasagna, meatballs, sauce, coleslaw, city chicken, veggies, sub sandwiches, bread, Asiago breadsticks, really everything!

Brandon M.

Yelp
I am a long time customer and I love the store typically however today On Super Bowl Sunday I got my Italian subs on a soft roll with hot peppers my wife ordered (hers and mine) Normally great service. Today I know they were busy the two ppl who took my wife's order was utterly rude and disrespectful We didn't get Hot peppers hardly any lettuce and the Sun was made to fast and incomplete! That is what makes the sandwich!! I am pissed photos to show -

Gerry M.

Yelp
The Italian submarine sandwiches could be some of the best in metro detroit. Legit cold cuts and a solid hard roll. Get a focaccia and dried figs on the way out to. Also perhaps some home made fresh pasta.

Michael T.

Yelp
This place is on the opposite side of town for me but I used Yelp to find some food. I was in the mood for a submarine and I saw they had great reviews and let me tell you they did not disappoint. I ordered the Italian sub on a hard roll and it was excellent a nice sweet Italian dressing on the submarine. I also ordered, some of their vinaigrette, coleslaw, very delicious. I'll make a point of hitting this side of town more often just to visit.

justine r.

Yelp
My sister and I love the sausage and kale soup. I love their fresh made sandwiches and asiago sticks that they sell at the front register. The place always smells amazing and has lots of great options of ready-made foods. They are over priced but I understand because it's specialty. The cookies are not good.

Paul M.

Yelp
Expensive for Wesson Oil drenched pasta salad. Sub's old bread oil on everything Chicken Masalas a "JOKE" no sauce Scam go to Walmart 100.00 buys 10x's vs there gross oil drenched small portion imitation food. Of course my family ate the food on the toilet all night went thru 2 rolls of toilet paper. Should be condemned

Sue M.

Yelp
Always a great experience when we go there. Excellent selection of cheeses, fresh pastas, olives...you know everything Italian. The sub sandwiches are wonderful too.

Lana W.

Yelp
Great soups! Friendly service! Has that italian market vibe! Plenty of parking in the back.

Jessica M.

Yelp
Great food! Sandwiches are HUGE! I get every single time I'm working elections. Hands down the best I've had

Alyssa A.

Yelp
Horrible service. Food was cold and bland. Will NEVER step foot in this establishment again. Waited in the store for 10+ minutes despite only one other customer in the store with me. After attempting to initiate my own order greeted by "what do you want". After placing my order I proceeded to wait about an hour for my food and actually had to remind them that I had ordered.

Suzzette M.

Yelp
First, the subs are legit! Best sub on the eastside! Hard or soft roll, you really cannot go wrong. The meats and cheeses are slice there and are great! I usually eat half and save half for later since they load them up. No need for chips, the sub is all you need! The food in the prepared counter is outstanding. We have had lasagna, meatballs, and arancini balls (outstanding in the air fryer!!!), was not disappointed! It was all made from scratch and full of flavor!

Topher C.

Yelp
Like visiting Italy. A well curated selection of food, wine, prepared foods, home pasta & sauces. Tony the owner is always on site always taking care of the details. The staff is very knowledgeable and every day they have a special offering. Beautiful facility, easy access. The subs are the best around and they read and rolls are bellisimo. Always a pleasure to shop there.

Janice J.

Yelp
The sandwiches here are always fresh and good. I love picking up the Italian on hard roll. Normally I get one for my dinner after work. You can also buy a lot of Italian meats and cheeses. They have a good but small selections of wine a too.

Jenny P.

Yelp
Cute little market with quality food. I remember back in 2015, my teacher raved about this place and actually got me a sandwich from here. Recently, I watched all star best I've ate ate sandwich edition and made me crave an Italian sandwich. I had to come here. It was my first time actually going inside this place. It is so cute! Quality meats and cheese. Amazing subs. They make fresh pasta!!!!! You can buy fresh pasta. Why haven't I gone here sooner. I've been under a rock. Looks like they have pizza and breadsticks already made and baked. But I believe you just reheat it when you get home. I'm assuming. Please check this place out! They even have patio seating.

Angela D.

Yelp
Sub was too thick and hard to eat. Just a big, cold, hard sub. A bit of a disappointment.

Matt S.

Yelp
Great Italian market. Small deli. Best Italian sub around. Made fresh to your order. The bread they make / use is spectacular. Meat /cheese quality and balance is on par with the best.

Christal P.

Yelp
Ventimiglia is an Italian restaurant with a small grocery store on the other end of the building it occupies. I have only been to the grocery store which offers gourmet items to prepare an authentic Italian meal at home. The grocery store's pasta, meatballs, breadsticks, focaccia, spaghetti sauce, pesto, and Italian dressing are all made in-house. There are also ready-made meals, a sandwich station, an olive bar, and bread made by local bakeries. I have tried Ventimiglia's ready-made salad, meatballs, traditional pesto, pesto alla trapanese, and focaccia. I'm a big fan of the pesto alla trapanese with tomatoes and almonds and love to have it with spaghetti and even rice. The food is good and it's a cute neighborhood store albeit a tad overpriced. The service is mixed. I've had a few friendly younger workers at the counter. The older workers usually do not speak to me or ask me if I need help. Something that gave me pause on my last visit was that none of the staff were wearing face masks properly. The majority of them were not wearing a mask at all nor were they wearing gloves. The few that had masks were wearing them under their chin with their mouths and noses exposed. Furthermore, there is no requirement for customers to wear face masks. Although most customers were wearing masks of their own volition, some did not. One person without a mask can easily infect everyone else crowded in a small space. I left without buying anything and I'm not sure if I'll return until safety standards are increased or there is a vaccine for the virus.

Clara S.

Yelp
I've always gone here for fresh pizza dough when I'm in a hurry to make pizza. Along with it I pick up fresh pasta (fettuccine) and their Italian subs. Last, house made cookies. They have a assorted cheese and delis. They have Parma prosciutto.

Sergio H.

Yelp
Honestly the best sub I've ever eaten, each bite had the same consistent flavor everything was balanced. I do recommend if you're a sub person will be returning here for another round!!

Lolo A.

Yelp
The food here is great. As for service not so much. Recently came here for THE FIRST TIME after a dentist appointment because I wasn't feeling so great from the laughing gas. While waiting for my sandwich I started to feel as if I was going to pass out, my boyfriend rushed me outside to the patio so I could sit down, I clearly was out of it, scared, in and out of consciousness, and while this was happening the heavier set young lady who was selling ice cream out front just stared at me. My boyfriend ran inside to get my mother while I was slumped over the table unconscious, when I woke up and became aware I asked her for water since she wouldn't stop staring and she proceeded to pretend to be on her phone and shook her head no with a shit eating grin . I honestly thought it was incredibly rude to just sit and watch me pass out multiple times and shake your head no when I asked for water and as somone who's a manager at a restaurant I wouldn't be hiring anyone who's going to make a "phone call" in the middle of there shift

William P.

Yelp
Great selection and fast, don't pass the place up if you are in the neighborhood. Authentic meats and selections of goods.

Donald L.

Yelp
First let me start by saying my workplace to Ventimiglia's is just short of 25 miles. It could be 50 miles away, I will go out of may for the best Italian sub known to man. Convinced my coworkers, 23 of them , to place their order and have a great lunch the next day, Which we did. So our super big order was not only ready, it was wrapped with the persons name and what they got. 22 Happy Coworkers and not one complaint about their order. Great job to all

Sam M.

Yelp
Great food, service, fresh cookies, pasta and sandwiches! Definitely authentic, prices reflect quality. You get what you pay for.

Tom W.

Yelp
Place was pretty packed when I went. I heard about this place and it lives up to what everyone says the subs are great!!

Jeffrey L.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place for shopping. The food is fresh. Their service is quick. Nice people behind the counter as well as check out. The ambiance is old world authentic Italian. Makes one feel they they are shopping in Italy as I have been there more times than I can count.

Tehmina W.

Yelp
Had italian and chicken subs today for the first time. After reading so many great reviews we figured we would try it out ! The subs were all made on soft bread and made exactly as we specified. Everyone loved their sub ! They all said the only issue was they wanted more. The meat and portion size is excellent and the ingredients where very fresh. If you are looking for an excellent sandwich this is your place. So happy to see they doordash now.

Chris D.

Yelp
Wow that was some good sangwich! Two thumbs up. I wish it was closer to my home. But I'll defiantly return

Dante C.

Yelp
Amazing Food great service and I love the people who work at Ventimiglia's. The store is very clean and the food is the best.
