We had an amazing stay! The property is stunning. The staff is friendly and hospitable. We stayed two nights, booked a wine tasting, and a jeep tour. Carlo was our guide for both experiences and he was incredibly knowledgeable. We ate at the restaurant both evenings for dinner. Food was excellent. A truly special and lovely place.

We had an incredible stay at Ventozelo Hotel & Quinta. The pool overlooking the Douro Valley is absolutely stunning—one of the highlights of our trip. We stayed in the Romântica room, and it lived up to its name: peaceful, private, and beautifully done. Breakfast and dinner were both excellent, with fresh, local ingredients and great service. We only stayed for a couple of days, which felt like the perfect amount of time to unwind before moving on. Small note: there’s no poolside service, so if you’re sunbathing and craving a drink, you’ll need to hike back up the hill. That said, the staff were quick to bring extra coffee to our room when we asked, so service was otherwise spot on. Also—a bonus for gin lovers—they make their own gin on-site, and as someone who drinks a lot of gin, I can honestly say it was phenomenal. Definitely worth a visit.

It's all fabulous. We've been lucky enough to stay at great places before but the setting here makes this place truly exceptional. We stayed for four nights, but to be honest there's everything here to replicate a typical resort holiday and you could happily make it a fortnight of pure relaxation.

If you are as passionate about wines as we are, it’s a must do! We loved the guided tour very much: the explanations about the history of the house, the vinification process, the difference between vinification of wine and port and the tasting at the end. We come from France and we know quite a lot about wines but this tour was really interesting and we learnt a lot! The place itself and the scenery are absolutely stunning. The vineyards on the hills made me think about rice plantations in some Asians countries. But I’ve never seen something similar with vineyards ! The Douro valley is an incredible destination and this domaine is very well situated. Even though the weather wasn’t perfect, the scenery made us forget it. And the lunch was as great as the rest : simple, generous, with products coming from their own garden, all natural, on a terrace overlooking the vineyards. And prices are more than fair compared to some other experiences we had on the same trip ! Bravo and obrigada. 100% recommend.

The location of the hotel is spectacular with stunning views over the Douro and vineyards. The activities on offer are great from various walking trials to an infinity pool to different wine tastings. The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and made our stay very easy. Two points for improvement. The hotel rooms have not been designed with the intention of friends sharing a room as the bathrooms are very open with no walls separating the shower area to the bedroom. And secondly, while the food is of very high quality, the vegetarian options on the dinner menu are limited.

Highly recommend spending a few nights at Ventozelo. Everything was so lovely- from our room, the gardens and grounds, the food, the wine, and the service. Waking up every day to the sound of birds and the smells of the orange tree blossoms and ending the evening with the sunset by the pool was incredible. The food- both breakfast and dinner- was soooo good and fresh. We did a picnic down by the river which was also amazing.

A truly delightful stay in an amazingly beautiful location. The food in the restaurant was delicious. The port tasting was wonderful and incredibly informative. The grounds and vineyards surrounding the refurbished buildings have been kept to the highest standards possible. Well worth the visit and the drive, will definitely return next time I'm in Portugal.

This estate offers a truly idyllic escape. The vast, beautiful grounds mean you never need to leave, with audio-guided walks ranging from short strolls to hikes. The on-site restaurant highlights the estate's bounty, featuring fresh, seasonal dishes sourced largely from their own garden. What truly elevates the experience, though, is the exceptional staff. Their warmth, helpfulness, and genuine friendliness made us feel incredibly welcome. A perfect retreat!
