Ventuno Bistrot

"Some distance from the historic centre, in the neighborhood where Amerigo Vespucci was born, this restaurant takes its name from the number of the house in which it is located. The young chef works hard both in the kitchen and front of house, bringing his delicious, seasonal Italian dishes to the table himself." - Michelin Inspector

Well what can one say of a review of 3 stars..it has been a strange and weird evening of both disappointments and surprises. The food overall is simple, quaint and slightly cowardly. In no way I’m trying to say the food was bad but it also left quite a lot to be desired. The homemade focaccia was the star of the show, however both the pasta and risotto where “cowardly” as I mentioned before made a bit too much al dente. It is normal that you’d undercook slightly both given that it continues to cook after it is plated, sadly it was too underdone which left pieces of hard and uncooked pasta and rice in our teeth. The tasting menu overall does not tell a story and is quite monotone. The presentation of the dishes was good and well curated. The taste however was very earthy and with little good contrast. The staff is somewhat well prepared and polite, doing their job correctly and to the extent of their capacity. When asked questions about the produti utilised they had both the goodwill and knowledge to respond. The environment within the restaurant is pleasant and unassuming, leaving the ambience quite relaxed. In comparison to the inside the immediate surrounding of the restaurant is grim. To give you an example we passed 3 “ladies” selling their services outside the restaurant and a few strange and dodgy men looking at us menacingly, possibly looking after their “lady” employees. I understand this is not the restaurants fault but location is also part of one’s experience and to charge premium prices(average of 70 per person) usually one is in a ok area (at least) if not in a premium one. Hope this comment let’s you improve and do better. Was looking forward to this night but was left with no joyous memories to share. Best wishes Ps: hope you don’t feel like I judged you too harshly

Highly recommend for people who appreciate excellent food and wine. Although unassuming from the outside, the interior is a serene and soothing space, as is the impeccable service. I had several red wines by the glass and was very pleasantly surprised to find them slightly chilled, which is my preference. This was unique among all of the other restaurants I tried during my 2-week stay in Italy and it was very welcome. The food was, in a word, outstanding. We tried 2 of the 3 pasta courses available, all of the secondis on the menu and all of the desserts as well. Each was refined and delicious. This is not the typical rustic and hearty Tuscan fare, but instead refined food that was light on its feet, while highlighting the ingredients. I would love to come back and try the course menu with wine pairing some day. If you are in the heart of Firenze, worth the drive out to visit. If you happen to be staying near the airport, you are in luck and should treat yourself to this must-try experience. As others have said, the surrounding environs may not be great but don’t let that stop you.

Excellent restaurant! What a good surprise close to the airport, a good place to cope with the usual flights delays ;)

This was such a foodie dream, and the experience was certainly surreal. First, you feel like you're walking into someone's home. The space is warm and inviting, which makes for a lovely date night. Second, the service and intimate knowledge of ever dish was so special. We got the 9-course and wine pairing, and the chef certainly did amazing - and came out several times to discuss dishes and the wine pairing. Everything all around was amazing and definitely worth the visit.

Absolutely amazing experience from start to finish. My husband and I stumbled upon Ventuno walking home one night. Not having reservations, I was worried we wouldn’t get in; however, to our delight, we were welcomed in to a very warm, inviting atmosphere by the chef himself. We ordered the 5 course tasting menu and each course was divine - thoughtful and creative, not to mention only 55 euro pp. Such a beautiful evening. Highly recommended!!

Ventuno Bistrot is simply incredible. The experience from start to finish was thoughtful and purposeful, where every dish delivered nuance and intrigue. The cuisine riffs off of a repertoire that includes, among others, the mixtures of traditional and molecular gastronomy, in a way that does not go over board or is underwhelming. Each dish speaks for itself, and does not have any need to show off. We were very surprised at the cost of the 5 dish tasting at 55 euros. After wine and after dinner drinks, all told we came in at 174 euros. Shockingly affordable for a Michelin location. I would recommend going before the word really gets out. Bravo.

We had such a lovely night with my parents that I here to celebrate a first weekend together since I became a mum two years ago. The food was surprising, interesting and tasty. Simply exquisite. The team was very kind, high knowledge on their products and great advices given. Grazie mille. (Review published end of september but google removed it so I am adding it once more)

Yelp
This is a small restaurant that is located in a neighborhood, outside of the city. The restaurant used to be a house, maybe 7 tables in the restaurant. You can do a 5,7,or 9 course tasting menu with wine pairings or they do have ala cart items as well we decided on the 7 course with wine. They start you off with bread and a wasabi butter with lemon and cracked black pepper. 3 different types of house made bread. The butter was really good and interesting, you got the wasabi flavor but the burn through the sinus never came. Amuse bouche of a house made cracker that looked like an oyster cracker topped with caviar. A chick pea flour cube fried with a mayonnaise on top. This was an excellent start. Next was a beef tartare with a lime mayo. A well balanced dish. Next was farrow with ponzu sauce and topped with asparagus. The next course was a slice of celery that was cooked beef stock, and topped with hoisin sauce and that sat in a Dijon mustard sauce. This dish was mind blowing. It looked like a steak and tasted like steak but it was celery. A risotto with morel mushrooms was creamy but the rice was al dente. It was really good. Our final savory course was roasted chicken with crispy skin, mashed potatoes and greens. On to deserts, next was a mango sorbet in a custard sauce. The was a light bright palate reset. Ammon mousse with a cream was next. The lemon flavor really came through and it was topped with raspberry sauce. We finished up with a tiny spice cake and a dark chocolate passion fruit filled chocolate. The best part was the little stool they brought out so she could put her purse on top of it. If you're ever in Florence make the trek out there, it' was worth it.
