A lively and friendly market in downtown Ventura with plenty of fresh vegetables, local produce, and tasty food stalls. It’s a great place to shop for cauliflower, artichokes, onions, and more, while enjoying the sounds of live music. The community vibe is warm and inviting, making it a fun spot to spend a morning supporting local farmers and sampling delicious treats.

Go to the orange tent!! First of all they give free samples of some of the best oranges I have had. They are not hit or miss like the bags you buy at Trader Joes where sometimes they are good and sometimes they suck. These oranges have so much flavor.

Went here with friends while in town for the weekend and we had a blast! We enjoyed looking at all the local farmers produce, plants, foods and sundries sold in the market. It is basically located in Downtown Ventura along Main Street, where the Mission Saint Buenaventura church is located. They even have concessions of foods for people to eat at the parking lot next to the Mission church. The energy is great and with all the vibrant things surrounding the area and musicians playing their music, the place is such a vibe. There were lots of local people shopping as well as families with kids or fur babies in tow. This street is a row of little cute boutiques and thrift shops as well as great restaurants that we ended up eating at when we got hungry! Great place and will definitely come back here again!

Love this market. I always find great produce. I’m especially happy there is also fresh Italian cheese now. We are really enjoying Caprese salads with heirloom tomatoes!!! Lunch options in the food court are good. Most go for crepes or tomales.

Fresh and seasonal regional fruits, vegetables, breads, seafood, flowers...a great selection for locals and restaurant owners alike. Make it your weekly farmers market adventure for good, healthy cooking. Enjoy farm to table cornucopia right in the heart of Ventura, CA.

I had a very disappointing experience with one of the egg vendors at the Ventura Farmer’s Market, it was an elderly gentlemen with cloudy eyes located near the fountain. When I asked about the price of a dozen eggs, I was told he only had jumbo eggs left at $15 per dozen. I then asked how much his regular eggs usually cost, as I live locally and might return another week. Instead of a simple answer, I was met with an unprofessional attitude—he went on a rant about disliking “price comparison shoppers.” He insisted his eggs were the best without offering any real information to back it up. A good vendor should be transparent about their product, but he didn’t share anything about his farming practices—no details about what he feeds his chickens, how they’re raised, or the quality of their environment. Instead, he expected me to just trust him. That’s not how it works. If I don't know anything about the quality of your eggs, all I have to go is price. I know what truly great pasture-raised eggs taste like—my grandmother raised chickens—so I trust my own judgment, not empty claims. I won’t be supporting this vendor and suggest others find sellers who respect their customers.

The Ventura Farmers Market offers a plethora of vibrant produce and more! Located in front of the Beautiful San Buenaventura Mission, locals stroll with baskets in hand for their freshly picked veggie feasts, handmade cheeses, meats & other yummy things to eat. A highlight of Ventura Farmers Market was the concessions and hot foods tucked in the Mission parking lot. Here you will find my favorite stand "Keto Sweets LA" (granola & carrot cake is a must!) Also, a ceviche guy, a hummus guy and a barista among other food vendors. If you are famished, you can sit and enjoy some yummy Mexican food & be serenaded by some live music! What a lovely morning you will have soaking up the sun & salty wind in your hair. 🌞🏖🌊💒

Yelp
los angeles out-of-towner here, on a weekend trip with my cousins and we loved this farmers market! lots of friendly vendors, very chill and open. we found close parking, too. we showed up at 11, with an hour left of the market (I believe it's 8-12?). so many different stands, all kinds of beautifully colored produce (see: purple bell pepper i've never ever seen in my life!! wish i'd gotten one to try.) I had a lovely chat with Raymond and Christine at their baked goods stand and got some gluten free treats for my partner when I get back home. The food section was lively and had fantastic tamales. Everyone is so friendly and a few booths stayed open shortly past 12 for last minute purchases. Can't wait to make a delicious dinner tonight with produce and fresh pasta we got here!

Yelp
Great people watching, amazing fresh produce of every kind imaginable, and perfect yummy lunch. Tacos, smoothies, bowls, fresh sourdough. There's even a knife sharpening booth.

Yelp
My favorite weekend activity. Getting local fresh foods. All the vendors are always so friendly. Walking in the fresh air and shopping is just perfection. It's such a fresh atmosphere. I always go to Underwood for my veggies, blueridge for my honey and my son always has to get his coconut frim Mingles.

Yelp
Nice for a farmers market but only 2 blocks of Main Street and not a TON of options. Maybe 3 strawberry vendors all selling strawberries for the same price. Hard to know which farm has the best strawberries without buying a basket from all 3! Which is exactly what I did. And honestly they're all great, hard to pick a favorite. Farmers market proper is dog friendly but the food tents serving hot food are in a separate area that is not dog friendly. I'm sure it's one of those stupid health department regulations that makes no sense. Had an omelet crepe from A&Js Crepes. Solid crepe. Was in a hurry and forgot to take pictures. Family-friendly ambiance for sure. Multiple "sanctioned" live musicians performing plus a few clearly unsanctioned ones at the end of the market on both ends. Overall a nice but small market. Also purchased some red potatoes that looked of a way higher caliber than what you can find at Sprouts. Bought 4, it was $1.75, handed $2 to the cashier and told him to keep the change, he tossed another potato in my bag. Nice. There's only one farm/vendor selling potatoes. At the end by the food area.

Yelp
I love this farmers market. It's manage able at 3 rows, but has plenty of variety. Besides fruit, flowers, and veggies you can find a fish monger, honey, jam, hummus, kettle corn and hot tamales. It's right next to a super cute coffee spot with an adorable courtyard, too. List of free parking in nearby lots as well, but best enjoyed if you arrive by bio, skateboard, or foot.

Yelp
Spent a quick impromptu weekend getaway with my girlfriends in Oxnard and stayed at a friend's house. After our walk at the beach, we decided to checkout this farmers market. Great selection of veggies and fruits. We found a few we loved and bought some home. There were vendors selling fresh pressed juices, plants, treats for your pet and ready to eat food as well. Good crowd with live entertainment. Vendors at this farmer's market were friendly and helpful if you have questions. Most vendors also take electronic payment like Venmo and ApplePay which I found very convenient. Parking was a little challenging to find but that is just standard in this area anyways. If you are patient and drive around a bit, you'll find a spot. Will definitely come back here if I am in Ventura again on a Saturday morning.

Yelp
Love the Saturday Market. I really enjoy the variety of vendors. I also love that it moves to the main st. instead of in the parking lot it used to be in. The merchants are friendly. The market is layed out in rows so vendors are easily found. I enjoy the separate food court area.

Yelp
Good selection of fruits and veggies. Has a wonderful pluot vendor during the fall season. Has a great mushroom vendor with packaged logs (grow your own) for $25 each. Has coin system to make it easier to shop if you don't carry cash.

Yelp
As first time visitors, we had planned to check out the Saturday downtown farmers market (which recently moved location). Alas, by the time we got to downtown on a windy morning after breakfast, and finding free public parking, nearby, it was past eleven. We only realized then that the market hours were from 830am to 12 noon. Fortunately there were still many vendors plying their trade and we were able to buy some farm fresh produce like including cauliflower, broccolini and navel oranges to take home. A highlight along the block-long market was the beautifully photogenic, historic Mission San Buenaventura.
google avatar

Yelp
This is one of the busier and larger farmer's market in the Ventura County area. Don't forget to bring your own tote bag to carry your purchases. If you're lucky, you might be able to find free parking in the lot across the street or street parking. There's a long line to enter the market. You need to wear a mask and most people observe social distancing. Lots of different vendors selling veggies, fruits, flowers, and other homemade goods. Fortunately most stands take credit cards now. I was happy to find the best strawberries at the Harry's Berries stand. Totally worth trying!

Yelp
On this Day of my several visits to this small farmers they happen to be celebrating Halloween for the kids to enjoy all the different festivities,I mean really could you get your kids to go with you to a farmers market,I know I couldn't get my son back in the days. So it was a smart move for the merchants to do this. Must of the Vendors are local from Ventura. Such a venue to be able to purchase such fresh vegetables. Some of the prices where a bit less than other farmers markets that I have been to such as northridge.Probably the distance to commute.Over all a Great Venue for the whole family to enjoy. 054/100 Yelp Challenge.(2016)

Yelp
This is one of my favorite markets. Love going there first thing in the morning! Early bird gets the worm!! I ran across some purple bells that I just had to have!! Got them home and they were so yummy!! If you're in the downtown Ventura area be sure to visit this farmers location!

Yelp
Nice little farmers market. Pretty good selection although the channel islands one is better on Sunday. Prices are kinda high but at least it's super fresh. Definitely recommend

Yelp
I love this Farmers Market! It is great to be able to buy local and support the farms in the area. Everything tastes better.

Yelp
Pure Heaven! Fresh fruit, tamales, veggies, flowers and bread. Must look for the Bread Bar stand from LA

Yelp
I love the farmers market but the variety compared to others is a bit low but they do the trick when I forget to go to others.

Yelp
What a great addition that will now be added to my Saturday morning routine. Located on the corner of Palm and Santa Clara St. (Public parking lot behind Rabobank) is this Cute, local and fun farmers market. Coming from a family that used to work at Norcal markets-this market is a great size with 3 rows of yummy freshness. Parking surrounds the market with street and local parking lots. Note: street parking is metered even on Sat-Sun. A ton of veggies stands both organic and pesticide free. Very reasonable on the prices per item and if your nice and not pushy the vendors might even hook you up with an additional discount. This morning we got a yummy-not to sweet pumpkin cheesecake latte, hugh plus is the coffee guys accepting debit cards. We then found ourselves at The Great Harvest stand, which is a local bakery from Newbury Park. We purchased a loaf of sliced sour dough bread baked this morning for $5 and 2 Cinnamon chip scones at $2 each...another huge plus, is the bread guy also accepts debit/credit cards. The scones were nice and moist, the perfect pair to our pumpkin cheesecake lattes. The Juice guy had an array of fresh squeezed juices that consisted of pomegranate, orange and veggie juices. $5-$8 a bottle. Super excited to try the Me Gusta tamales, which I highly recommended. @$3 per tamale, they come in different flavors, smothered in red and green salsa. Filled with juicy meat with the combination of salsas make a great breakfast meal! Great Saturday morning outing for all ages, open every Saturday from 8:30-noon! Get it while it's hot and fresh! Happy shopping. #buylocal

Yelp
Great little farmer's market located in the beautiful seaside town on Ventura. It has a nice variety of vendors that sell a nice selection of organic veggies, hummus, cheese, meats, flowers. Etc. I wish they had more than just a tamale vendor for meals. The parking can be a bit of a challenge but I got lucky and found one front and center.

Yelp
Flowers that are 5x the bunch u get at trader joes for only $5! And theres a lady that sells louise hay type artwork and greeting cards that u wont find at the other farmers markets. I bought a portrait for $25, very cute! The kettle corn was good too. Oh, and theres a tamale stand that has the best.

Yelp
So many choices and so much fresh food choices. We came out with bags of healthy food. Nice central location and friendly people.

Yelp
No brainer. Homemade cheese, German sausage and more. Obviously tons and tons of fresh produce. Plenty of free parking if you look for signs in area
google avatar

Yelp
Always a nice mix of food, produce and even some proteins from local ranchers. We love visiting Saturday mornings after a run or walk at the beach.

Yelp
I love Farmer's Markets. But this one was a bit disappointing. It's pretty small, I love local produce, but here prices are very high. Higher that any Farmer's Market I've been to in California. No samples were offered, not a lot of food that you can get and snack on. I was expecting better since there are so many farms and fields in the area!
google avatar

Jamie M.

Yelp
I've gone twice now, almost thinking I may consider it a new must do on Saturdays. I suggest parking in the structure, its about 2-3 blocks away, I'm horrible with on foot distance, but I know it wasn't that far off from there. Grab a pick me up beverage from Latte 101 on wheels that is present and start your adventure (or bring your own also works). As with most farmers markets tip is go early, get first pick at the bests stuffs, and bring cash. Small, quaint, and charming, yet packing tons of variety.
google avatar

Erin K.

Yelp
Nice little Farmer's Market in downtown Ventura. There's free parking nearby and also paid parking on the streets. Nice vendors with very fresh looking produce. Several were more than happy to offer free samples to entice you to buy. Better variety than your chain grocery store and stuff looks higher quality. I bought some dates last weekend and am very happy!

Yelp
McCloskey Nursery has a nice selection of orchids, avocados, and sometimes, cherimoyas. Fair Hills Apple Farm has fresh stone fruits like peaches, nectarines, apricots, and cherries (available through August/September). July and early August is when the apple season will start up again, with over 19 varieties of apples to choose from. Apple cider is another one of their products which is also sold at the market and available year round. Watkins Cattle Company sells different cuts of beef (7-bone, rump, pot), brisket, tri-tip, heart, tongue (lengua), ribs (back and short), steaks (flat iron, skirt, New York, ribeye, cowboy, filet mignon), and cut/ground meats (fajita stir-fry, stew, taco, ground). They also sell pork (butt/picnic roast, ham hock, chops, bacon, ground, hot Italian/jalapeno cheddar sausages) and chicken (whole/half, breast, thigh, drumsticks, wings). Buon Gusto Farms sells cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil (EVOO). They also have flavored EVOO including Peppery-Basil, Mandarin Orange, Garlic, Meyer Lemon, and Garlic-Basil. They also sell balsamic vinegars including Special Balsamic, Champagne Pear, Fig, and Pomegranate that pair perfectly with their EVOO. Olive oil can also be made into soap as EVOO is a natural nutritive and moisturizer with scents like jasmine, lavender, lemongrass, and mandarin.

Yelp
A smaller farmers market that happens every Saturday morning rain or shine, year round, downtown Ventura's farmers market features the typical produce stands, along with cheese, two bakeries (Great Harvest Bread Co. is one of them), honey, hummus, and flowers. Things to look for: local apples, squash, strawberries While vendors will provide samples, very few are left out for passersby. Latte 101 provides coffee and hot beverages. Those seeking something warm to eat can choose from Loohoo's (potstickers), a tamale stand and a kettle corn maker. There's one bench where you can sit and eat. The tamales are better than the potstickers.

Yelp
I've included a list of purchases from today's first visit to the (Downtown) Ventura Farmer's Market. Kiwi Red plums Limes Figs Garlic Italian parsley Thai green onions Spring salad mix Bratwurst Cajun sausage I really dig the feel of this market including the relatively narrow shopping aisles, its beach-close, sun-drenched environment, and discounts for the coolest of reasons.* Parking is a hassle, so I parked illegally for over 1/2 hour with no signs of Police rudeness. Note: * Deb wore a Grateful Dead t-shirt & me a Beach Boys t-shirt which earned us a nice discount from one vendor.
google avatar

Mari K.

Yelp
I watched two teenage girls play blue grass: one on accordion and the other on violin. That experience was a bonus. Small market, but you'll find: Cheese, hummus, tamales, pita chips, brats, fresh baked breads, kettle corn. Live plants, orchids, fresh cut flowers. Fruits and vegetables. It's quaint and def not like Santa Barbara's, but quaint is what I love about Ventura :)
google avatar

Lauren K.

Yelp
I may be biased because this is the first time I have discovered a decent farmer's market...well....ever...but I love this part of my new Ventura home (I am originally from the east coast). My second day in Ventura I ventured to the market with my Joelfriend. We were there for possibly 17 seconds and had alread purchased fresh dill, garlic chives, green onion and cilantro. All for under five dollars. These bundles lasted me well over a week each. I have had my eye on the Ojai honey, which is said to have a citrusy orange blossom taste, as well as the farm fresh eggs, one of the many colors of carrots, and homemade hummus. I can feel my meal horizons expanding and I haven't even touched on half of it (mostly because I'm not sure what everything is yet). I love Ventura. Anyway, enough of my rambling. Be sure to bring cash to this joint as I am pretty sure nobody takes credit cards (except for the egg lady). But don't bring any more than $20 because the prices are great and you probably won't need it.

Yelp
One of our weekly rituals is to visit the Ventura farmers Market for wonderful fresh veggies and of course those awesome tamales. Pros: all local produce, much organic, some pesticide free. Fresh strawberries year round, seasonal fruits, veggies, fresh fish, organic beef, Greek foods, did I mention the best tamales, fresh brewed coffees, range free eggs, breads and baked goods, fresh olive oils, beautiful flowers, various sausages, cheeses, & herbs. It's got everything. And the vendors are wonderful...friendly, helpful and sometimes very gracious. Cons: not the cheapest place to buy veggies & fruit. But you get what you pay for. I grow a lot of my own organic veggies & fruit year round and so use the market to fill in those I don't grow or that extend the seasons. It's an enjoyable visit every week and a great place to see friends and neighbors.
google avatar

Yelp
I love this particular Farmers Market due to the great location and awesome selection from local farmers. The produce is always fresh and delicious, and the vendors are super friendly and helpful. The prices are also much less steep than what we have in LA. Shopping there just makes me feel good! And they always thank you for supporting local farming businesses. So shop away and stay healthy, my friends!
google avatar

Don M.

Yelp
If I'm on my bike, I'll go here. But if I'm in my car... I'll drive to the Santa Barbara Farmer's Market. It's sooo much better. Why can't we get some more diversity in the Ventura market? More stands, more veggie varieties, more organic farmers, less regular big farm veggies, citrus and non-organic strawberries... Yes, I know that the market should reflect "local" production and Ventura County has some local "big farms", but SB County is still "local" to me and maybe their market is just put together by a better management team! What gives?

Claudine J.

Yelp
Great farmers market with fresh local products. Produce, meats, fish, flowers and even award winning wine! Friendly vendors, great vibe! A one stop shop. #supportlocal #venturacountycertifiedfarmersmarket

Yelp
This is a quality farmer's market with everything from fresh fruits and vegetables to delicious homemade tamales. It's a great place to support local agriculture and to get delicious fresh produce. But beware, there are a lot of hippies! haha, just kiddin, but seriously, there are. I recommend it!
google avatar

Sue N.

Yelp
This is the perfect-sized farmer's market for the "I hate grocery stores" person in the neighborhood with a small shopping list. Plenty of local and/or organic vegetables to go around. A vendor from Ojai with delicious, locally-pastured meats (frozen), fresh-outta-the-chicken farm eggs, spring hill butter and cheeses, the Berry Man (yum!), sprouts, a juice vendor, fresh flowers, and an excellent plant vendor with a small but truly healthy, selection of indoor houseplants. Hearkening back to my days of shopping at larger farmers markets in Northern California, it really doesn't get much better (or more local/organic and convenient) than this tiny gem in Ventura. It's a very tiny market, just four walkways of vendors set up under canopy tents on the blacktop of a corner parking lot downtown. I love that. If you're one to crave a wider selection of goods or enjoy fighting for a vendors attention at some of the larger, trendier, Southern California markets pimping their more heavily-branded organics, the downtown Ventura market may be a bit on the down-home, hippie-dippie side for you. However, if you prefer to shop in the morning hours in relative peace and quiet, with free, close parking...you can get the bulk of your organic needs met and be in and out of the place in under 30 minutes. If only there was a milk vendor (preferably raw), then I would never need to fight the crowds or lines at a grocery store again.
google avatar

Lori M.

Yelp
Just like Ventura itself, this farmer's market is charming and has everything you need. The fruits and veggies here are varied and oh so fresh. Plus, this is the place to get strawberries! There is an amazing bread bakery here every week. The orchids at the market are lovely. Despite my lack of green thumb, I am always tempted to get one. Every time I have been here, there has been live music. Usually there are local musicians set up, adding lovely sound to the atmosphere. When I visit my mom (a Ventura native) we have to stop here. It's a relaxing family outing to stroll through the market and pick up snacks and food for dinner. BF tip: Stop by for a double-crust apple pie. It's as good as home-made.
google avatar

Elizabeth O.

Yelp
Didn't find anything that stands out about this farmers market. There is quite a handful of vendors here but prices are higher than other farmers markets I've shopped at. I really just rather shop at a fruit stand. I liked the coffee shop that is set up here not too pricey. I will only come here to walk around if i come downtown another day.
google avatar

Marie S.

Yelp
Why can't this be MY farmer's market? Why does it have to be 5-hours away?! For the location, this market is remarkably big and full of diversity. There was even someone selling gorgeous, tasty tomatoes - in the middle of February! I don't know how they do it, but I'm not complaining. Even the food vendors were all different, and everything I sampled was scrumptious. Make sure to try to the Chinese dumpling stand and grab a bag of kettle corn for a later snack. If you're in town, even just for a weekend, stop by this market and you won't be disappointed!
google avatar

Stacey P.

Yelp
I love farmer's markets because I believe in supporting local business and getting great fresh produce. It's decent in size and has a good variety of veggies, fruits, baked good, cheese, and food stands. There's a great stand with a wide variety of sprouts and I picked up a salad mix of sprouts for $5!
google avatar

Sandra W.

Yelp
I'm sorry to give a lukewarm review but this market has hardly ANY organic produce and everything is more expensive then what I can buy at Lassen's for much less. Try the Ojai farmer's market it seems to have all of the organic stuff at a better price! It's worth the drive and you can enjoy the little town and shopping!
google avatar

Renata W.

Yelp
The selection is great! This is part of my normal shopping routine. They have really affordable produce. The hummus, olives, and pita are amazing. I'm completely addicted. They also have a fresh Halva. I buy all of my vegetables here. You can get 3 lemons for $1. 6 limes for $1. I get all of my weekly produce here for under $40. I have found that many of the items are much cheaper than the grocery store. The bell peppers are cheaper ($.50-.75). The jalapenos are $.25. The basil is WAY cheaper- it is only $2 for a bunch ( I usually pay double that at the grocery store) and to top it all off you are supporting local farmers. The bread is really good too- but it is more expensive ($4-$5). I was actually surprised at how much cheaper it really was.
google avatar

Rachael K.

Yelp
Browsing the market is the best way to start the weekend. I suggest getting a cup of coffee and taking your time to enjoy...the smells, the people (I love seeing the local chefs picking out what will be on the menu) and the colors of the freshest produce you can get your hands on without growing it yourself.
google avatar

Kristie S.

Yelp
Great Farmers' Market! I've been to others around the county, but this is still my favorite. In addition to vegetables and flowers, we always get tamales from the tamale stand, cookies and bread from the bakery stand, and kettle corn that's made fresh minutes before you eat it. Oh, and I usually pick up a few beeswax candles too. Lots of fun on a Saturday morning!
google avatar

Meiyi C.

Yelp
What a delight to visit the Ventura Farmers' Market on a beautiful Saturday morning! What an even greater delight to be there after visiting the snobby Farmers' Market in Santa Monica! I thoroughly enjoyed every interaction I had with the people there. I ended up making some new friends and discovering some great local food.
google avatar

Yelp
Charming, small, quaint. It's always nice to stoll around a farmers market. I love the fresh produce.

Yelp
While in Ventura for a weekend, thought we'd head over to the Farmer's Market Saturday morning - was surprised that there were actually as many booths as there were and took advantage of some of the offerings. I love supporting small, local farmers and will visit again when in Ventura on a Saturday.

Yelp
WE use to sell here. Karen and her crew are the best. Highest quality run Farmers Market in the State. Take care all you great people.
