Ann Arbor’s 13 Best Patios | Eater Detroit

"Venue has plenty of space both inside and out and features five different menus from longtime local chef Thad Gilles: Americana, Venue Brasserie, Pasta Forum, Pizza Forum, and Mesa Taqueria — so there’s something for everyone. The large patio is bright and cheery thanks to gorgeous murals from local artists." - John Reyes

Wow. This place is the bomb. What an awesome place. We loved the vibe here! Reese our server was so wonderful he was attentive and gave us amazing suggestions about dinner. The food was wonderful! We came here for my daughter’s 30th bday. We brought my 85 year old mother to enjoy celebrating her oldest grandchild’s special birthday! Reece really made our night. Our food and drinks were spot on. Dessert was amazing. Their expresso ice cream was the best I’ve ever had. . We live 45 minutes away and will drive over and over to come

ORIGINAL REVIEW: It was just…okay. We went in for Sunday brunch, tried the Eggs in Purgatory, a side of Banana bread, Biscuits and Gravy, and some caramel lattes. Everything tasted fine, good but nothing extraordinary, and certainly nothing that justified the relatively high prices. The best part of the experience was honestly the atmosphere, featuring a beautiful spacious and unique interior with live jazz music. EDIT: I’m updated my review after having dinner here, its dinner menu was much better than the brunch offerings! The pesto gnocchi, crispy brussel sprouts and were top notch! The rosemary bread was nice, soft, fresh, albeit a bit basic. The nachos were okay, but could use a bit more sauce, cheese, and overall flavor. The overall service was excellent and servers were very attentive and kind! The drinks were fine, the Pink Is The New Black was a standout, while the Beach Run was just okay and kind of just tasted like a bubbly Capri Sun. Overall, I would definitely recommend checking this place out for dinner, but for brunch you can probably go elsewhere.

I had a great experience at this restaurant. The space is spacious and clean, which made for a comfortable dining atmosphere. The food was flavorful without being overly salty—something I really appreciated. The pizza had a wonderfully chewy crust, and the veggies tasted super fresh. My favorite dish was the fish and chips. It wasn’t made with cod, but another type of fish (I can’t remember the name), and it was absolutely delicious—crispy on the outside and tender inside. I’d definitely come back again!

I recently hosted a Girls’ Night at The Venue by 4M in Ann Arbor, and it was absolutely perfect! From start to finish, the staff was incredibly accommodating, helping me figure out the best setup for our large group. Everyone in my party raved about the amazing drinks, delicious food, and top-tier service—they truly made the night special. I also went back for Valentine’s Day this year, and while we didn’t do the chef’s course, everything we ordered off the regular menu was a delight. There was a bit of a longer wait past our reservation time, but since we could grab drinks in the waiting area, it wasn’t an issue at all. Whether you’re planning a group gathering or a special night out, The Venue by 4M is an excellent choice. I’ll definitely be back!

My book club has been meeting here, which is always wonderful. Tonight was our first time coming for dinner for a special date night. The food was excellent, from the tortilla chip flight to our fabulous entrees (the salmon and the cherry burger) to a delicious and unusual Indonesian dessert (pictured). Kaitlin took such good care of us. I especially appreciated her knowledge and attention to detail regarding my gluten free diet. We will definitely be back!

Great service, food is good but too expensive compared to the taste. Went Friday evening, lots of open space, no wait. We got started with rosemary bread which we tried for the first time. It was delicious! Our main course was Arancini, chicken wings and fries. Arancini was nice and crispy on the outside and cheesy on the inside. Would have liked to see more veggies in it though. Wings were good, but the fries lacked taste. We ended with brownie sundae and citrus olive oil cake for dessert. Brownie could have been warm and gooey but the ice cream was rich french vanilla. Loved the citrus cake- moist, soft and very citrusy. Great finish!

I recently booked Venue by 4M for my team’s office party, and it was a great experience with a few areas for improvement. I chose this place based on a friend’s recommendation, and it definitely lived up to the hype. The venue was perfect for our gathering of 30 people, and the staff did an excellent job accommodating us. Since it was the day before a holiday and the restaurant had been closed earlier in the day, we planned the event the same morning. Despite the short notice, the staff was incredibly flexible and made the entire process seamless. They even assured me over the phone that we could take our time without feeling rushed, which was a thoughtful touch. The restaurant has a unique charm, as it’s a former grocery store that’s been transformed into a modern, art-inspired space. The vibe is fantastic—sleek, clean, and inviting, with beautiful artwork and thoughtful design elements throughout. One of my favorite features was the large windows, which allowed us to enjoy the stunning sunset while we dined and socialized. It created the perfect atmosphere for our gathering. We came in for a happy hour gathering, and while the overall experience was pleasant, the food was just okay and could definitely be improved. We only tried their happy hour menu, so I can’t speak to their main menu yet, but I’m hoping for a more flavorful experience when I return to explore it. Our server was attentive, friendly, and regularly checked on our large group to ensure everything was going smoothly. The appetizers were fresh and flavorful, but I feel the drink menu could use some improvement. I tried the Tropical Thunder, and while the name and description suggested a bold, strong cocktail, it was much sweeter than expected. A better balance of flavors would have elevated the experience. The bread with olive oil was simple yet flavorful, and the chips paired with different dips added a fun variety to the meal. Chimichurri offered a refreshing, tangy twist. The fried calamari was perfectly crispy, while the pizza brought a comforting and satisfying touch. Brussels sprouts chips were a delightful surprise—so crispy and full of flavor. The rosemary table spread added an aromatic elegance to the experience, and the chicken wings we had were served in different flavors, each one bursting with its own unique taste. One feature I truly appreciated is that Venue by 4M doubles as a rentable workspace. They offer open desks, conference rooms, and video conferencing setups, making it a great spot for professionals. Additionally, the ample parking space adds to the convenience of hosting events here. With its welcoming atmosphere, diverse themed menu options (including American, Asian, and Mexican), and versatile offerings, this venue is an excellent choice for both gatherings and work-related needs. I’ll definitely return to explore their main menu and see how their bar offerings evolve. Overall, a great experience that has the potential to be even better!

Enjoyed some dinner here with family. We made a reservation and were seated immediately. There is plenty of seating and a nice waiting area if there is a wait when you arrive. Our server appeared to be new, so throughout our evening we were short on water and had to wait longer for requests such as condiments. One of the meals ordered did not come out with the food, due to waiter error. The food we had was delicious. The cheese bread appetizer was perfectly cheesy and enough for our table of 7 to share. The taco salad was large, enough for two. Others in our party enjoyed the pizza, reuben, and taco flight. Overall, would come back to try other menu items.

Yelp
So a couple of friends and myself decided to randomly take a trip to AA to check out a new restaurant that he thought looked pretty great. Venue by 4M in Ann Arbor offers a truly massive space with some great aesthetic qualities, boasting an impressive visual appeal that could make it a standout location. However, despite its grand scale and stylish decor, the venue regrettably lacked any real warmth, leaving the overall atmosphere feeling a bit cold and impersonal. Our dining experience was a mixed bag. We ordered the salmon cakes and a salad, and both dishes were undoubtedly delicious. The flavors were on point, and the ingredients seemed fresh. That said, they were also quite basic in their presentation and composition, not offering anything particularly innovative or memorable. The most frustrating aspect of our visit was the service. It took a significant 15-20 minutes for anyone to approach our table, and we had to repeatedly ask for someone to come over and take our order. This lack of attentiveness was a considerable detractor from the meal. While I wouldn't rush back for a casual dining experience, I do believe the large space would be fantastic for a group party or event. Its expansive layout and attractive aesthetics lend themselves well to accommodating a larger crowd, where the emphasis might be more on the gathering itself rather than an intimate dining experience.

Yelp
I really wanted to rate this place higher because I'm a big fan of their coffee shop. Unfortunately, my dinner experience was underwhelming. We shared the rosemary bread, and I ordered the chicken wings and Caesar salad. Nothing was outright bad, but the food lacked flavor and didn't quite meet expectations, especially given the price. That said, the service was excellent, the happy hour deals are great, and I really enjoy the decor. It's a solid spot if you're with a large group or just stopping in for a drink. Hopefully, they'll consider upgrading the menu to match the quality of the rest of the experience.

Yelp
So this place is...weird? They've done a decent job breaking up the large space so it feels like a restaurant and not a grocery store (this building used to be a Kroger and then Lucky's Market), but it still has a kind of hospital or cafeteria vibe. Maybe it was the lighting, the high ceilings, or the smell of cleaning product or something, but it was off to me. The food was good, but definitely on the expensive side for the ambiance here. We ordered: - Arancini. Pretty typical, I think the sauce was the best part. - Carbonara (add shrimp) - this was quite good, best part being the clearly fresh-made pasta. - Bison Bolognese - my partner liked my carbonara better, but I thought this was fine. Wouldn't order again. - Tiramisu - this was disappointing because it's our favorite dessert, but this must have been sliced and kept exposed in the fridge because the bottom layer of sponge was DRY. Tiramisu is not a dry food. We were bummed. We agreed we wouldn't come back here unless we needed to book a large group of people and needed the seating. They certainly can accommodate large parties here without issue.

Yelp
My 2,000th review and last review of 2024 goes to Venue by 4M! I've mostly known this space as Lucky's Supermarket or "that new co-working place." I didn't realize they had full blown restaurant operations! It's helmed by Executive Chef Thad Gillies ...who is most recently from Logan - which we loved loved before it closed, so I had high hopes. We specifically came for their sunday jazz brunch - stellar idea and execution! I'm sure someone with a good ear with sound would say that the acoustics aren't perfect for live music but you know what, I'm not the sound expert. You can be asked to be seated a little further away if you do want to be able to hear your dining companions better though. For food - I couldn't really decide, I really wanted the Biscuits and Gravy but ALSo the porchetta hash..so I made it work by ordering the Porchetta hash, choosing biscuits as my "bread" on the side & adding an order of the sausage gravy ($5). Flavors were good! The hash got a little soggy texture wise with the soft porchetta, so I went home and airfry-ed my leftovers and saw great success! No notes on the biscuits and gravy - I'll probably order that as my main next time. Diamond, our server, was fantastic! Perfect balance of attentive while still giving our large group some time to settle in and chat. She also split the bill easily for us which is always always appreciated! I'll be back to check out their happy hour as well as dinner sometime!

Yelp
Reasonable priced and yummy brunch. I would go back. The dinners at Venue can be pricey, but the brunch is not. French toast was yummy.

Yelp
Had a blast here coming to celebrate a friends' birthday recently. There were about 15 of us that came in for brunch on a Saturday morning. I ordered the eggs in purgatory was basically a shakshuka (poached, jammy eggs in a tomato-based sauce) that came with toast. I was able to swap my toast for zucchini bread free of charge. This was so tasty! Highly recommend the zucchini bread. It came with a bit of butter and jam on the side. The main dish was also delicious. The venue itself is beautiful and so spacious. Our server was friendly. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Over priced not so tasty foods and drinks . Pizza sauce is terrible. Shrimp in a soup had an unpleasant taste as well. The waiter was excellent . Dry clean inside and Spacious but would not go back with a meal voucher.

Yelp
So this more of a review for 4M than venue necessarily but they do have a number of interrelated ventures. I've been staying in the townhomes from time to time and I really like it. Affordable, easy, and a clean space. Much cheaper than hotels in the area and I think it's just as comfortable. The 4M Team is also very pleasant and easy to deal with, and quick to respond as well. The WiFi is good, the beds are comfortable, the common areas are nice, etc. The townhomes are in a great location and walkable to the stadium and downtown. If I had any complaints, it would be: -imo the common areas should be totally serviced. It hasn't been an issue, but I'd be pretty pissed if someone trashed the kitchen and didn't clean it up, or if someone never took out the trash or ran the dishwasher. -the freezer space is incredibly limited. Not sure what the best solution for this would be tbh -there could definitely be more kitchen supplies. I believe the townhomes are intended for mid-length stays and it's odd to not have some basics like a colander. Overall, a great place to stay. Would continue coming back

Yelp
We had visited Benue several times after it opened, but not recently. Yesterday's "brunch" was wonderful - Venue Breakfast was too generous, so we took it home. Biscuits & gravy were really perfect, therefore no take-home needed. Wait staff & manager were wonderful to deal with & we sensed a positive vibe in the place. We will be back!

Yelp
On busy weekends in Ann Arbor like football and graduation, we always seek out a restaurant that has parking. We were a large group so that can accommodate us. It is a large open space with cool lighting. Started off with appetizers we shared and they were good. My mushroom ragu was delicious but truly petite and small. It is nice that the menu on the website shows the size of the pasta dishes. The buttermilk fried cauliflower sandwich was excellent! Our other dishes were very good. Service was friendly and efficient. The menu is a little pricey. If you need to split the check, they can do it easily. We'll be back!

Yelp
Venue is now our go-to place for great food. The service is impeccable, the atmosphere is Modern and clean. The chef, staff and owners are truly in it for the love of food and service. We've been here three or four times since my last review. Took our 15-yo niece for the amazing pizza. Met friends for happy hour, and we like to meet for an easy weeknight dinner or take our friends to impress. Venue has it all. Great concept for co-working, events and dining. Tropical Thunder cocktail is my favorite!! Spicy yet refreshing.

Yelp
This review is specifically after going to one of their Jazz Brunches today, but overall it's my third time visiting Venue. It's been a little hard for me to get a read on the place overall (feels a little bit like they're still finding their identity), but I had a very enjoyable time with brunch today! I was a single walk in around 11:15am, and definitely no issue getting seated. I was one of maybe 3 or 4 tables there, but it's a huge space with a large capacity overall. Granted it's the Sunday after a big snow/windstorm Friday/Saturday, which may have contributed to not many people being there. The brunch menu specifically feels travel inspired, with dishes like croque madame, chilaquiles, shrimp & grits, and I saw an Indonesian rice cake dessert on the menu. Of course they also have American brunch classics like chicken & waffles, avocado toast, hashes, etc. I ended up getting the Croque Madame sandwich, and the server asked if I'd like fries with that so I said yes (I think it was an upcharge though not sure), and a Mimosa flight, which lets you pick 3 juices. I did orange, passionfruit, and mango. The Croque Madame sandwich was very good, super rich and very filling. It's beautifully presented, and the plate it comes on is heated up. It had this warm melty cheese and sauce, good ham that they did not skimp on, and I think a mustard which cut through the creaminess a bit. The sourdough bread managed to retain some crispness too, adding texture to each bite. Fries were fairly average - not bad but not really anything special. I would have skipped them if I knew how filling the sandwich would be. I would describe them as McDonald's like, but less salty (which is a good thing). Mimosa flight was also ok. The amount in the 3 pours looked to be a bit more than what one normal mimosa probably would be. I think the orange (standard) juice one was my favorite but I liked the passionfruit as well. I'm kinda a lightweight these days but I did definitely feel the alcohol. Finally, the jazz! This definitely elevated the meal, as it was live music, mostly instrumental but some singing as well. The group was professional, and I enjoyed them! Kind of felt like I was getting brunch at a fancy hotel while on vacation somewhere. Let's say a nice ski chalet given how cold and snowy it is. One suggestion - how to tip the performers wasn't clear. Might be nice to have signage somewhere with maybe a QR code or Venmo handles or something. I did actually have cash on me today too, but they were taking a break when I was leaving and I didn't see a cup or anything to leave a cash tip either. Overall the food here is pricey, but jazz brunch feels like you're getting a bit of a deal since there's no charge/upcharge for the live music, just need to go when they're doing one. Believe they have jazz brunch the last two Sundays in Jan! Otherwise check out their calendar for other weekly specials and events. Seems like they host a lot of things. Their market is closed on Sundays, or I would've checked it out as well.

Yelp
Even after its recent menu changes, Venue still struggles with food and ambience. My fifth and definitely last dinner there offered mediocre hamburgers and ravioli; the so-called Moroccan meatballs were tasteless and the porchetta was just skin and gristle. Ambience resembles a high school cafeteria.

Catherine B.

Yelp
Everything is great in this place! the Happy Hour is amazing! I got the meatballs, hubby got peperoni pizza, both were really good, bartender was super nice, his name is Daniel, and Titos is on happy hour too, with great beer specials too

Yelp
The place has plenty of parking which is a plus. I entered the place and decided to sit at the bar as that was where my friend was. There was also a nice jazz band playing. I ordered a drink and the Thai wines. The wings were good and had a good flavor. This is a nice place to come to listen to music and grab a bite. The.menu varies and has selections from American, Asian, seafood, steak and Mexican selections like tacos. I will plan to come back in the future.

Yelp
So far I can only speak for the market and cafe but I have to say I really liked my visit there. There are two rooms, the cafe/market area and a dedicated seating room adjacent to the market. The decor in the seating area is very cheery and colorful which is 100% my aesthetic. It's exactly how I would decorate my home so I loved it. The market carries a few different pantry goods like granola, jams, jellies, condiments, snack foods, etc. They have a good selection of locally made items and what isn't local is at least made by a small business, which I appreciate. There's also a nicely curated selection of beer, wine, and NA beverages to enjoy as well. The coffee bar is also enjoyable. I ordered a cold brew and also got myself a chocolate chip cookie. They also have an espresso machine for lattes, cappuccinos, etc. My cold brew was smooth and flavorful and the cookie was also very good. They typically carry a lot of grab and go dining options as well but I was there shortly before close so much of that was gone, but I saw the signs on the shelves that included things like rotisserie chickens, a variety of sides, sandwiches, etc. I would definitely come and try some of that in the future.

Erick T.

Yelp
This is one of the best spots in Ann Arbor. The food is incredible. The service is excellent - shout out to Justin who manages most days and takes great care of me! The location is conveniently located with ample parking. The ambiance is parallel to none. I work here most days of the week and my virtual meetings have gone down in history. People are blown away by my background and Venue gets a free plug every time. Wonderful coffee shop, bar, and wine and beer for sale! What more could you ask for! Venue is the best option for mixing up your work from home life. With everything you need and more.

Brian U.

Yelp
We hosted an event with about 50 people here. The staff were incredible. The food was great. And the atmosphere was perfect. Whether or not we host another event, I will definitely be back!

Yelp
I came here on Valentine's Day, I had a really good time. The reason I had a really good time was because of my server. My server was Paisley. She was an amazing server; even though the restaurant was packed and the food took much longer than normal, she improved my date experience. She has got to be the best server in this establishment. Paisley made sure I had such a good time, and she was a really nice person to talk to. I ended up leaving her a 55% tip since she did such a good job. If I ever come back here, it will be because of her. Also, the Blueberry Cheesecake was so good. But thank you Paisley for making my experience here so much better, you deserve a raise.

Yelp
I have been to the market and cafe twice now and both times I got coffee to go and browsed the market. The service is very friendly and helpful and my coffee drinks were good. It was nice to go to a coffee place that has ample, easy parking. The indoor seating area looked cozy. I assume you can sit down n the outdoor seating area though how you enter that area isn't obvious. The small market had a mix of ready-to-eat items and high-end specialty foods like olive oil, tahini, crackers, cheese, and chips. They do have rotisserie chickens and a $10 pizza and beer special. In general, the market seemed to cater to people who don't cook.

Yelp
This is my final update for Venue. Every time we have gone to Venue it has gotten progressively worse in every regard. 3/3 times when I ordered medium eggs they eggs have come out well done to hard boiled.. one time they even SQUEAKED when I cut in. We ordered a side of toast ($5 for 2 pieces) and it was burnt. The server (sorry - concierge..) never filled our waters.. when we were one of 3 tables. My wife used to love the Shrimp and Grits, but thinks they may have changed the recipe it was so different. I would be okay if this was a $10 breakfast, but after tip a breakfast for 4 came out to over $100. (I can't stand the Toast handheld machines because they suggest 25%, 22%, and 20% and no way am I going to customize the tip WHILE THEY ARE HOLDING AND WATCHING ME) Food - 1/5: some of their food tastes good, but the eggs and toast will always be overcooked. It feels like the chef just sold the recipes to amateur cooks. Price - 1/5: $20 for a brunch item is only ok if it's exceptional, I would rather eat at a coney island. Service - 1/5: they are nice, but slow and forget a lot of things. They don't even inquire about the meal honestly, if toast is burnt it's common sense to get a new one or at least ask if it's ok.. Ambiance - 2/5: it's minimal aesthetic is nice in the summer when it's all natural light, but in the winter I feel like I'm eating in an H&M. I like the art displays.. but would prefer actual pieces rather than screens. I really tried to like this place, but after 6 visits I can confidently say I will never return here.

Lisa H.

Yelp
The food tasted good, and there was definitely some variety. There was no dessert or anything like cheese and crackers to snack on. The fruit was just a big fruit salad, but there was other fruit near the juice bar that you weren't allowed to take to just eat. Service was fantastic! The space was so large that it felt a little sterile...without the live music the atmosphere would have been poor. We would come back again if they added some more food choices - maybe an omelette station and carving station! And desserts!

Yelp
The first time I was here, it was to visit my tax lady in the work space area. After my second meeting with her, I decided to sit at the bar for dinner. Very cool bar with wonderful servers and bar staff. Base on the bartenders recommendation, I started with the Italian highball it was malfunctioning gin with sparking rhubarb. Clean, with a solid gin taste. For dinner, I had the queso fundido and the Caesar salad. Both were great. The salad was garnished with bowyer ones, delicious white anchovies imported from Spain. I decided to add the Mexican artist cocktail after seeing the adorable presentation. It was delicious as well, with a first class aesthetic. Composed of: mezcal, banana and Prosecco. All in all, great space, service, creative menu and drinks. Be warned, it's quite pricey, but worth the splurge.

Yelp
So, I was meeting my old boss from years ago at this place since I was going to be in Ann Arbor for the day, and he suggested coming here since he rents office space from them, and loves dining here. I'm familiar with their concept, and was excited to check this place out. Walking in, the outside looks pretty average. It was clean and well maintained, but nothing over the top. From what I observed, they have a few different things going on here, but it primarily is a work space with other businesses built around it. They have a small market, open work space and a huge dining/restaurant area with a full bar here. I ate at the restaurant so that was my primary focus for today's visit. The website says they open at 11 AM weekdays, but when I got there at 11:15 AM, the doors were locked and I had to enter through the market. Ok, fine. I waited in the small waiting area which was cool because they had a TV (with no volume on?) and some cute chairs to wait in, which I loved. The staff continuously checked in on me to make sure I was okay, and I told them I was a few minutes early to meet my old boss. Sitting down, they don't have paper menu's here. It's entirely electronic. They have a QR code on the table, but I was also told they have tablets if needed. My boss went with a Caesar salad and I went with a Queso dip with chips. (I wasn't starving but wanted food.) We were the only one's dining in at the moment, so our food came out quickly. I was both happy with the chips and dip, and my old bosses tea and salad looked amazing! We both enjoyed our meal and had a good time. Our server was fabulous and seemed well versed in the menu and different options. While it's not cheap to dine here, it really is a nice space. The price point's a little high for the food, but hey, it is Ann Arbor, so kind of anticipated it. Granted, he picked up the tab, but I don't know that I would pay $12 for the chips and dip that I had per say. Overall a good positive experience and I had a good time.

Yelp
I've been here a few times! Now for brunch, I've worked from here and had lunch and also walked here from my house to enjoy drinks and dinner on the patio. We always have a good time but I will say it's a touch more expensive than I'd assume for Ann Arbor.. especially given its location.

Yelp
Outfitted into the old space of Lucky's Market, Venue is a new multi-directional concept that is still figuring out its directions. We live a few blocks away and watched as the space changed over from our neighborhood market to a roomy, industrial, cafeteria-style setting. Because they opened closer to the UM football season, they were giving out $50 gift cards to Venue if you parked there and our family always parks in the Lucky's lot. Well, after the season we have about $250 to enjoy here, so we finally came in last night to give it a try. Upon walking in, you are greeted by a host asking you what you want. "Do you want a tour? Do you want to eat? Do you want to sit at the bar?" Since it was our first time, we asked to be seated so we could order some drinks & food. It was pretty quiet around 5:30pm on a Friday night, but quickly filled up as the back section was rented out for a birthday party and a sports team of 20+ women were also seated. There is a lot of seating -- high tops & low-tops -- that could be re-arrraged for larger groups. We were told that the menu is completely virtual, like most restaurants in the post-Covid era. As we scanned the QR code on our table, a very friendly waitress named Maggie came to take our order. She explained that the menu features food from different "kitchens" and you can order drinks from the bar. The different kitchen options are all run by the same chef, Thad Gillies, from previously familiar venture, Logan, in downtown Ann Arbor. Skimming through the menus, you can tell there is separation between the cuisines with titles like "Americana," "Pasta Forum," "Pizza Forum," "Venue Brasserie," and "Mesa Taqueria." We ordered cocktails & beer which came out fairly quickly, and then put in orders for appetizers: Garlic Shrimp Tapas -$17 (emphasis on the garlic) and the Salsa Flight - $12 (still confused on which was which). Later, we ordered a Rodeo BBQ Burger - $22 (fries are similar to McDonald's) and the Short Rib Milanese - $22 petite portion (pictured with prosciutto but does not include it, and the amount of fat inside the meat made up at least 60% of the dish). We left full & buzzed, but we couldn't identify one thing that we "loved" or would recommend to others. Perhaps this would be a cool place to grab a cocktail (at Happy Hour for 50% off because house cocktails are normally $15+) and an appetizer. I also noticed they had a Market & Cafe to the left of the entrance (separate doors) that I will check out for their advertised grab-n-go options & coffee.

Yelp
Food is mediocre and overpriced. Bland food without any depth. $25-30 for an entree - and they were pretty small. Definitely not worth it. The chips and guacamole appetizer was horrible. The chips were stale and guac was tasteless. The pappardelle with boar bolognese was equally bland - just tasted like plain meat - sauce had scant seasoning. The gnocchi was the biggest offender. While the food was decent, the small portion literally only had 5 pieces of gnocchi. Definitely won't be coming back any time soon.

Yelp
Went I my wife's work party here. The building was a grocery store in a previous life, so the space is large and there is a lot of parking. There is a decent sized bar when you walk in and have numerous liquors available. The food was quite good. My wife had the gnocchi, and I had the carbonnara. Entrees had no accompaniments but were good none the less. Now, if this was the end of the review. I would say 4-4.5. However, the service was extremely lacking. We arrived late as we had a little bit of drive to get there and sat for 20 minutes before I walked up to the bar to get a drink. A young lady who was looking at a laptop and texting at the bar asked if I needed help and assured me she did work there. I said I was going to grab a couple of drinks, and she said she would get out waitress over to get our order. The waitress came to the other end of the table (20 total) and left. I went back to the bar after 10 more minutes to hear the same woman ask if I was served yet and then respond, "I went to the manager. That's all I got." Eventually, we snagged one of the staff walking by who got our drinks. Several more minutes later, we were able to get our order in. We are probably about 30 minutes at the restaurant before getting a drink. If we wanted another drink, we had to walk up to the bar and ask to get one. The Chef/Owner Thad was nice enough to walk over to the table as he saw us trying to find someone to get our bill. He apologized profusely and said there were no excuses for the service tonight. He was extremely nice and obviously passionate about the food and his business. Based on the conversation with the Chef, I would come back and try it again. They are a new restaurant and I will give them the benefit of the doubt.

Excellent service. Waitress gave great advice and knew the menu inside and out. Would recommend

Yelp
I love the ambiance and service at this year old space. That said, the food has been uneven. This 4 in 1 restaurant and work space per my understanding is run by chef Thad, formerly of Logan, a favorite, elegant small restaurant that COVID killed. This ambitious goal is one central kitchen with four distinct venues/menus that one can order from and mix and match. Lots of delicious sounding options. I first went for dinner several months ago, and 90% of the food was great. I recall excellent Mac n cheese and tasty tacos. However, brunch today was lovely service and space but not great food. The pNcakes with maple syrup were tough. The scrambled eggs were overcooked and rubbery, the chilaquilas with scrambled egg were dry and so-so. The over easy and medium eggs were great, as were the home fries (roasted red potatoes in chunks), and the biscuits with butter and preserves were tasty. Coffee was Might Good brand but weak. I love that the inside space is big and airy and comfortable, AND the acoustics are fabulous. They sprayed the ceiling and you can hear everyone in your party. I want this experiment to survive, but at the prices they have, their food game needs to improve and be more consistent.

Yelp
Very underwhelming The concept is unique. 3 food menus and a bar in a forward cafeteria-style setting. We went there for lunch with another couple and the food was very average. Overpriced personal pizza Margarita at $18 and the fungi/red onion at $23. The arancini balls were probably the worst I have ever attempted to enjoy, 3 for $12 with some odd sauce underneath. Overall with 2 beers and a coke with tip $90.

Yelp
Was there for new years last year and had impeccable service! Good was impressive and amazing. Even came back for Mother's Day. Definitely a place I recommend for special get-togethers.

Yelp
Been twice. Both excellent experiences. Had the porchetta Reuben on first visit. Turkey club second. Both were very great. I know they sound basic & simple but they both had awesome taste and were far from standard fare. I'd have both again but want to keep trying other interesting items on the menu.

Yelp
This review is just for the coffee counter and the adjacent cozy room. My kids are fully obsessed. They got hot cocoa ($1.75 each) and the barrista made them little foam teddy bears on top. Then we sat in the room off to the side that's designed super cute and fully stocked with blocks, coloring pads, stuffies, and pillow chairs. Bougie kid heaven.

Yelp
Food was excellent, drinks were excellent! Service was great! Dining area was not loud as many restaurants are. Had a great meal and will returning next time I am in the area!

Yelp
Food is good. And it is pricey. It is on Par with Ann Arbor, which means pricey. The bar is ridiculously expensive. The q code menu didn't work. It's a nice idea, but only if it works. I had to use my waiter's iPad and even he had a problem pulling up the menu. And by the way, not everyone has a smart phone. And some of us don't like to take it with us constantly. I don't understand co working space.... Which is okay. I don't need to. I am disappointed in the market. Charcuterie, wine, coffee. Three nice things. Indeed, three things I love, but for real. We need/want a MARKET! Greeting staff seemed a bit confused.

Yelp
Review is for the restaurant and bar only. The ideas in place here could work, but the execution is really poor. Online only menus don't work without downloading an app! Very inconvenient. Also they have no paper menus but rather let you borrow their iPads to look at the menu if you don't want to download the app or have trouble. Prices are high - California or East Coast high, but the food is mediocre at best. Servers are not well trained. My chicken wings came out undercooked and raw. Fried cauliflower sandwich which had potential was ruined due to the extreme saltiness of the sweet chili sauce. Our kid didn't eat the burger because he didn't like it which was really surprising since he never turns down a burger. Pizza was okay. Fries were good (but for $16 dollar sandwiches, if the fries are the best part, something isn't right). Inside decor is trying for a modern open concept vibe and does that adequately. The parking lot and the building shape gives away this used to be a grocery store, but the advertising and labeling on the outside of the building gives no inkling of what type of place this is.

Yelp
First time at the Venue tonight. Great sevice starting with a friendly, attentive host. Food was solid and we loved the happy hour drink specials.

Yelp
They have such a fantastic gluten free menu! Their gluten free pizza is clearly home made and is thin with a huge delicious crust! I have not ever had a gf pizza with a big crust just like regular pizza! The atmosphere is so cool also!

Yelp
Contrary to what others have said, you do NOT need an app to view their menu. It is true that they are paperless, but you can scan a code that will take you to a website - no app required! Now onto my review! Venue is a new restaurant off of South State on Industrial Hwy. It's a bit of an odd location - my group remarked it looks more like a big box store from the outside rather than the trendy restaurant it is on the inside! It's a huge space, very open and minimalistic in design, but also a bit warehouse feeling. They were able to accommodate our department outing of 20 people, which was fabulous! I loved how big and diverse the menu was - something for everyone, for sure. What I tried: Prosciutto pizza - loved this!! Molto Carne pizza - just ok, good crust though Chips and guac - the guac is SO GOOD, wow! Shrimp tapas - delicious! Aperol spritz - not the best I've had, but still good Overall, this was a really great place to go with a big group. Our servers were so attentive and provided really amazing service. The menu made it so there was something for everyone. That being said, the warehouse & minimalist vibe made me feel a bit like I was in a Google office (and I know they are a coworking space during the day!), so maybe not the vibe I'd want for a date or one-on-one dinner. But I will absolutely remember it for future parties and big groups!

Yelp
Venue brunch is great! I am always trying to find a good spot in Ann Arbor and this is it! Vegan and gf options! This is a happening place!

Yelp
The best calamari in Ann Arbor - the best Brussel sprouts chips ever. I ordered a salad w/ salmon and the salmon was actually full of flavor and not dry!! Honestly I will go back next week to have that again. The Skate and fries were delicious and the Venue burger is so good!! A really good chef and a good menu!!!

Yelp
Great food, service, and atmosphere. Have eaten here a few times and gotten takeout ordered. Food is always excellent and comes out quickly.

Yelp
Did delivery through toast app. The tacos had little huts to prevent taco leaks. Everything was so good and delivery was barely ~20 min . New favorite in AA can't wait to check out the inside.

Yelp
Went here for the first time. Very expensive for what you receive. I had 3 vegan tacos for $20 with a small side of avocado ($2). My husband had a cauliflower burger with tons of fries for $20. With a brussel sprout appetizer, a glass of wine and tip this dinner was $75. All but the tacos were fine; the tacos being -eh. But it isn't a relaxed experience since the main dish came out just as we were finishing our appetizer.I didn't care for the bench seats either. I am going back for lunch next week due to a commitment but I don't plan to return. Maybe Happy Hour is the only worthwhile experience.

Yelp
It's just too expensive. It's that simple... $18 burger... $10 beers... come on; get a grip. I feel like I was robbed.

Yelp
We really wanted this restaurant to be good. We live in the neighborhood and have been here over 3 different times. The servers are below average and seem untrained. The price of the food is way to high. The portions are small. It seems like the owners are not sure what they are trying to brand. Is it a sports bar? A tapas restaurant or a high end expensive restaurant? It has potential, but needs work The ambiance has potential but needs to be clear what they are actually going for.
