reminds of a new jersey diner and I love it, food came out hot and fresh! You tell when service and the food is good, they had plenty of regular customers and they knew their orders! I could have set and ppl watched all day if you like that sort of thing. it was refreshing to be in an atmosphere that reminded of home back north.

Super busy restaurant. It was good, but my sausage & pankcakes (pig in blankets) were barely warm. Be prepared to wait for food. We'll be back. Hubby loved the liver & onions (🤮 not my thing).

Simple food. Great atmosphere and service. Food was hot and fresh. Buy lacked that something special for return visit. Really nice simple spot though.

My family and I ordered breakfast, I must say the All American Ribeye breakfast was so good, I had to call and let them know. The ribeye steak was tender and seasoned to perfection, the breakfast overall was the best! Yall better go get yall some! One satisfied customer 😋

Food was ok, I think my omelette wasn’t completely cooked through though. They offer a waffle with fruit but then charge you for the fruit ($1.50) and the fruit wasn’t fresh, we got strawberries and they looked like they had been soaked in liquid so we didn’t eat them. The menu doesn’t state that they charge extra for fruit. I know it’s only $1.50 but that’s not the point. We came a second time and we will NEVER go back. $10.50 for a club that had one piece of Turkey on it and one piece of ham, it was the smallest most pathetic club I’ve ever seen. You get charged extra if you use a credit card vs cash. Just a really bad place to go. The picture is 2 pieces of the sandwich not one. Sad

This place is very quaint & the food is DELICIOUS!! I always get the hashbrows w/ cheese, onion, & bacon and cheese grits. I highly recommend the Venus any time of.

Food was amazing, must try the hashbrowns. I had an omelette and it was huge andhearty. Cannot remember the name, but it had Ham, sausage, and veggies. Delicious. Server was so sweet. Would definitely return!

Very good breakfast place and probably lunch also. We had breakfast. Excellent service. The servers work together and keep your coffee cup full. Food was pretty good and very reasonable prices. But the service was exceptionally good. Will be back.

Food - oh my goodness!! This was hands down THE BEST breakfast I have had!!! Everything was perfect!! Service - welcoming, friendly, efficient. Ambiance - I LOVE a well-loved, simple diner like Venus!

Headliner: Its really hard to mess up breakfast Seat your self dining. My girl and I were attended to within 10 min. The coffee was like drinking hot water. The OJ was fine. My scrambled eggs were scrambled eggs. I wasn't really impressed with my bacon...chewy more so than crispy. The center piece/ saving grace was the crispy golden brown Belgium waffle. Overall..it was a filling enough breakfast to have me pass over lunch...which if you knew me..thats saying alot.

Everything here was breakfast you can get almost anywhere, but their ribeye steak omelette was one of the best omelettes I've ever had. It wasn't greasy, it was super fresh, with peppers, onions and cheese. And the fried potatoes that comes with it were super good as well. Clean with great food and outstanding service... Yeah, the next time I'm in town, this is going to be my breakfast place as long as they can keep that up.

A good bunch of regulars in here, I had no idea that there were so many senior citizens here in Florence. I would say that they're all here at the Venus but I later went to another place and they're all there too. Anyway, I received excellent service from Beth who took my order of the Venus special. Two eggs over medium, ham and pancakes, A tasty meal and well done. She was very caring that my order was correct and that I was happy with it. All good! The eggs were quite good and the ham was nicely grilled. The pancakes were cooked the way that I like them. Browned on the outside but doughy inside and perfect sponges for the egg yolk and then the maple syrup. Cheap, cheap, cheap. And that makes Bruce K. very happy.

Went there for the first time today for breakfast for 3 people, all ordered very simple things, we waiting for about an hour and a half for our food which even then didn't all come out at once, people who were there after us got their food first, we were never handed a bill and had to go to the front to get it and then was charged almost 50$ for 3 people to get simple breakfasts, will not be returning

Since there hasn't been a review in a few years, allow me to update. This is my go-to spot on those Saturday mornings I need a hearty breakfast to sop up my poor Friday night decisions. The restaurant has been consistently busy during my visits, yet the team of awesome ladies and gentlemen hustling their asses off to keep everyone happy never misses a beat. They are very welcoming and friendly, always greeting me with a smile and a "Hey sweetheart/baby/honey/darlin'" as I sit solo at the counter, which just adds to the whole southern charm thing I'm not used to, being from Philly. They keep my coffee as full as my belly. Even during the busiest of shifts, I've never waited long for my meal. My usual spinach/bacon/cheese omelette is good, the home fries are cooked/seasoned just right, and the pancakes are nice and fluffy. Consistent food, consistent service. I like Venus because I know what I'm getting and I have yet to be disappointed. I'm still fairly new to the area, so I don't really know what people here consider "reasonable prices," but I'd say they're more than reasonable. Stop in, check it out :)

Note to self. Do not go here for breakfast. Literally sat waiting for almost an hour to for a refill on my drink and ended up having to walkout to get to work on time. I assumed an hour and a half was enough time to eat breakfast but evidently not on planet Venus. Very unimpressed with their lack of customer service. I cannot speak of there quality of food but I would assume it would be just as terrible as the service.

Eh..... Go to Cracker Barrel down the road - service was slow, food was ok but cold and I got an omelette with bacon in it and it had two strips without the cheese melted. My friend had to send back potatoes because they were still white and cold the first time (and uncooked crunchy). Not the worst but the city has a lot of better options. And umm the skim of oil on my coffee wasn't due to the little creamers... Ugh

This was my first time here, the food was great and the staff was good. I ordered breakfast, the sampler. Grits was great. Would definitely come back again.

We have lived in Florence over 5 years. This has consistently been our go-to place for breakfast, which is definitely their forte. When I order eggs, I specify over medium. Some restaurants get it right some times, some never, some mostly. I kid you not, this place ALWAYS gets it right. The Spanish omelette is one of my favorites here. Their pancakes are a nice consistency. The staff makes you feel at home. In our time in Florence, there has been practically no staff turnover - a remarkable feat in the service industry. We enjoy their lunches from time to time, when we're too busy to get home. Plain and simple country cooking for lunch. Don't go here expecting a five-star dining experience. But do go here for one of the best breakfasts in Florence, or for a hearty lunch. Or just to feel welcomed and at home. A true Florence legend.

This place used to be one of the best for service and food in florence However ...I have to say I came in just a few days ago and the food was cold and service was horrible .. Im not sure if it was the kitchens fault or the servers which were to pre occupied with there phones to notice my order was up and ready . Sad to see such a great place go down in the last year or so ..

This place is ridiculous. All it is is basically way overpriced instant grits and box pancakes, I'm not exaggerating it's literally instant grits. Very rude as well. If you don't look like you're a millionaire and dressed to a tee, they'll barely acknowledge you, which I don't appreciate because my money is worth just as much as anyone else's. My food was cold by the time I even got my silverware. Literally cost me and my boyfriend $35 for two breakfasts. That I could've made exactly at home for $10. DO NOT GO HERE

Great breakfast place, but also serves meat and three lunches and a club sandwich that is a monster. I go for the Spanish omelet, my wife goes for a waffle. Florence has banned smoking so I think this place is less smokey now.

What a difference a day makes, huh? Well on my second visit, I was pleasantly surprised. I was greeted with a nice Good Morning, my table was seen to right away. The same waitress that served us last time, but with a smile. The food is always good here, but I was happy to see the service matched the quality of food. Yay! We all loved our breakfast here, but was a little surprised they don't serve cream gravy. Unusual for a southern breakfast place. For me, that isn't a deal breaker, but my oldest son was ready to walk out. Grits and biscuits without country style gravy isn't breakfast to him. But he got over it soon, and enjoyed his breakfast. I'd recommend this place to anyone wanting a sit down style breakfast with fabulous food.

We decided to try Venus based on other reviews on Yelp saying how good the food was but how the service was lacking. The food was great! My husband said he was glad we picked it and when we come back to the area he wants to visit again. Our service was great but I did see a couple sit down and look around for a few minutes before the server came. I think their "seat yourself anywhere" policy is the problem. You sit down but you have to wait for menus to be brought to you. Food was great, service great, food came out fast. We'll be back!

I used to go here quite frequently at 2-3:00 am. Ever since I started paying real attention to what I was paying for, I stopped. One night, I asked the staff if they did anything to the burgers to season them. Of course not. I asked the cook if she thought the food was pretty bland, and she agreed that it was. I asked her if anything was made from scratch. Nope. Most of it comes out of a bag or a can. I asked the cook and the two waitresses standing around if they thought McDonald's made a better burger for the same price. They seemed to think so themselves. The girls were friendly and the service has always been very pleasant. But it takes more than this to get any more $$ from my wallet. So...if any owners read this, please make better food.

Went in here the other day and I must say this restaurant was dirty and the food was sub par. The waitresses were unattentive and slowwwww. The place inside is incredibly outdated and and the food taste out a can dry and burnt

Service was awful! My wife and I did not see our waitress at our table after she took our order. Someone else brought out the food, I got our drink refills from the counter. This is the first we've been here in about six months...won't be going back!

Do NOT EAT HERE. NOT HAPPY WITH it AT ALL. Me my husband's and two young kids came here. The service was awful you had to seat yourself. Then wait to be noticed. Then our server came only 2 times to check in us. There is nothing kid friendly here. They didn't make my son's bacon crispy as we asked. The food didn't taste that great. The only thing that was any good was my husband's waffle. Everything else I could've had better at home or waffle house or bazens. Will never eat here again. Also the bathroom was a single person bathroom no changing table so couldn't change my baby here. Horrible experience.

Had breakfast here. The food was ok, service was fine, prices were ok. If you want a quick breakfast, stop here. If you want a better experience, go to Victor's and pay a little more for a better meal.

We stopped here for breakfast and did not realize it was close to closing time. However, the staff was friendly and seated us promptly. I ordered pancakes, bacon and eggs. The bacon was just right. I ordered my eggs scrambled well. They would have been great except for the few bits of shell I found. Yuck. In addition to that, the pancake syrup must not have been of a good quality as it had zero flavor other than it being sweet. I felt the same about the pancakes. It's as if they used a pancake mix, with water as the liquid because they were the blandest pancakes I have ever had. My son ordered french toast and it too, was extremely bland. It also had an orange-y hue that we couldn't figure out. Odd. I won't be returning.

The best pancakes I've ever had. The texture is spongy almost cake like. My over easy eggs were decent--not great, not bad. Sausages were so salty I couldn't tell if the taste was any good. Smoking area by the entrance is annoying, but they have non-smoking sections where I didn't smell the smoke at all.

food was good-prices were good -- they have 1 waitress who is just loud and puts down other waitresses and talks in front of customers about them - named tina - besides her everything was decent- ruins your food - loudest 1 in place is 1 not doing anything ...get rid of her would've been good experience - and I am regular......she is ruining their business chasing customers away-- she thinks she is owner--poor HELEN and STEVE....

One of the worst restaurant experience I think I have ever had... I've wanted to go there for awhile-but keep getting thrown off by their weird weekend schedule openings.... anyway, i finally went there for dinner with my family. There was no signs about seating yourself or waiting to be sat. So we waited for a few minutes until I made eye contact with a waitress who said sit wherever. So, my family and I took a both-and waited and waited. Finally, a waitress came by and we placed our drink order... cut to 20mins later probably she came back with drinks and menus. We ordered and then weren't acknowledge basically for the additional hour it took to get our food. Its a breakfast place for goodness sake-how long for pancakes and eggs? No one refilled our drinks-so I literally carried our cups to the front counter to ask for refills. Now, granted I have 2 toddlers who can be loud at times, but that's kids right? They must have bugged the waitress though as she right away acknowledged a table of regulars who sat down behind us, and told them they might not want to sit near us-rude. Then when our food finally got there, again she didnt clear my salad plate, nor bring drink refills-the food was so bland. I mean crazy bland. I poured salt on everything in an attempt to add flavor. The pancakes were good-but that's where I draw the line. The bacon tasted like old grease, the fried chicken was hot but again sitting in grease. The cheese grits I requested for my child was literally instant grits with a square piece of american cheese unmelted on top. Seriously, so not impressed. The food was mediocre at best, and the service was terrible. Soooo wouldn't recommend this place, and I will never go back!
