Veranda Lounge

I’m a local and love this bar! I bring all my friends here from out of town when we are day drinking downtown and John is my fav bartender here by far. He always makes the best cocktails, is super friendly, and always takes care of our group. He is legit the reason we keep coming back here!

John was amazing! So creative with his drinks! If you don’t like what’s on the menu he can whip something up!

This might be my new favorite bar in town? The vibe was excellent, comfortable seats, and great service. The drinks were simply BEAUTIFUL and SO good! I tried a few things and they were all done to perfection. Highly recommend but almost want to keep it to myself!

He took the time to chat with me, made fantastic drink recommendations based on my preferences, and his knowledge of the menu was impressive. Every cocktail he crafted was perfectly balanced and delicious. John’s great energy and personalized service truly elevated our experience. Highly recommend sitting at the bar if he’s working—you won’t be disappointed!

Absolutely phenomenal service! John, the bartender, took great care of me from the moment I walked in. He was incredibly welcoming & personable, making me feel right at home at the bar. His drink recommendation was spot on—delicious, perfectly balanced, and exactly what I didn’t know I was in the mood for. Even more impressive, he suggested a meal that turned out to be even better than the drink—flavorful, satisfying, and clearly chosen with care. John’s attention to detail and warm demeanor truly elevated the entire experience. Can’t wait to come back and sit at his bar again!

I had family visiting from out of town and the Veranda Lounge was a great stop during our tour around the city. The food and beverage were second to none and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Will definitely be coming back here again!

Very impressed with my recent experience at Veranda Lounge. First of all, the space is stunning and feels like an elegant lobby bar and intimate date night spot all in one. Our bartender, Riley was super helpful and inviting. I tried the pickle martini and was blown away by the flavor combinations. The dessert charcuterie was unique and a great portion. I can't wait to go back for the rooftop!

All staff were incredibly polite, courteous, and helpful. Made for a great experience! Exceptional bar offerings and service. Welcome happy hour is called "Charleston's Finest Hour" for a reason - snacks, drinks and service were all top-tier. The live music with acoustic guitar (and great singing!) was a nice way to start the night! Very well done, we were incredibly pleased with our stay and will absolutely be back!

Although the environment in the Veranda Lounge is upscale and elegant the food falls short | I expected higher quality offerings but actual order didn't seem to measure up. My Salmon Caesar "did the Job" but I would not run back to have a meal here. Probably better to have a cheese plate or flatbread to go along with your wine and bar beverages. Love the lobby and bar environment and the ambience is chill lounge music which is nice and relaxing.

Nice seats and umbrellas on a fairly low roof top (4th floor) with good view of two churches. The food menu is small but I found something I wanted. Tables were not being cleared off quickly so we sat down at a dirty one. Took a while to get noticed but when bartender did come he was good. My food was tasty. My husband complained that there isn't enough toast/crackers on the charcuterie plate. Certainly room for improvement.

Dropped in one evening in August 2022 with another couple for drinks and light apps. It was hot and the rooftop wasn't open, so we ate in the lobby lounge. Our experience exceeded expectations. Eric, the bartender, is accomplished and personable. The cocktails were well-crafted, and he showed some creativity by conjuring a riff on the Negroni using a mezcal base. We had two flatbreads (house-made dough); the "Mercato" was especially flavorful. We followed up with the large charcuterie platter, which was also very good. Service was timely and polite. With so many places in downtown Charleston catering to tourists in tee shirts, jeans and flip-flops, finding a quiet lounge for conversation that delivers good drinks and just the right amount of food can be daunting. This place checked our boxes.

The first wAitress and bartender was good. The second round rolled their eyes at us numerous times. The service was super slow despite not being busy and we were only told that they could cook one flatbread at at time after we waited 20 min for our food. They are trying really hard but fall way short
