5 stars: patio, ambiance and heaters, super friendly hostess, live music from Kristi Krause tonight (a past American idol contestant, who did awesome singer-songwriter type covers of everything from Fly Me To the Moon to the Eagles to Espresso). The music program here is always on point and it's fun to hear whoever the singer/songwriter of the night is!
3 stars: super.... slow... service. The manager eventually came over & helped get our entrees. This is a persistent problem here. I love the ambiance, but my sweetie gets grumpy about how slow it is and it takes us a while to come back.
3.5 stars: my Rising Blossom cocktail. The taste was very watery and the flavor was very muted. BUT the gin was strong & it did the trick quickly.
4-ish stars: food! The bread service for $10 is always extremely delicious. GREAT bread and butter. Yum.
--"Stonefruit salad" with burrata is a misnomer in winter - it's big hard wedges of apples with burrata and heirloom tomatoes. The tomatoes were meh; the apples should be sliced much thinner for a salad, but the burrata and dressing were good. I'd get something different next time. I'm sure this works with peaches in the summer but not with apples in the winter. (Also my friend got this last month and the picture on here is totally different. Hers had greens and cute little tomatoes - an actual salad with burrata, not a hunk of burrata with hard apple chunks and not great heirlooms)
--Striped bass: a nice dish, light and with very nicely cooked crispy skin & a corn salad. I approve.
Overall, I really like coming here. Food is slow but the patio is awesome, warm even in winter, and they have great music. (Tonight, there was a douchey post-golf guy sitting next to us who was super loud & sexist, saying to the one woman in his group: hey, you're a woman, you should be cleaning up after us!). But other than that, the ambiance was awesome LOL.
