Rented out the Signature Room in the basement of Veranda for my intimate wedding reception of about 26 people. Planning for it was quite stressful as there were lots of changes in staffing over the last year. I might have spoken to about 3 people over the course of 5-6 months trying to finalize details. Finally we got every thing settled about a week or so out of the wedding. I had tried the food previously and I knew that the food was great based on that experience so was looking forward to a delicious meal. However, at the event, many of the bread pieces of the egg sandwich were not grilled but actually BURNT. This was very disappointing as I had tasted the sandwich before and it was not like this at all. I couldn’t eat the bread and jsut ate the filling. The pasty chef did an amazing job with my special request for a cake that was a Hawaiian special called Queen Emma (coconut, guava and lilikoi) however the cake we were given to cut was almost impossible to cut, as there were half figs covering the entire top and really difficult fondant on the side to cut through. We were also promised some cake to take home and freeze for our one year anniversary but never saw that cake. Overall, the service of the crew that day was good and smooth, but there were just some details that were frustrating throughout the day. But really nice space for an intimate gathering.
