Eating at this place was a happy accident. We had a pizza place picked out on the same street, vaguely glanced at the map, parked, walked to the spot where we thought the pizza place was and walked into Verde Cocina. It looked nice, staff was friendly, it smelled good, so we stayed. The food was fantastic. I don't think there was anything on our table that we didn't like.

Super tasty food. Got the ceviche, which was prepared in a way I had never experienced before so when I first saw it I was a bit taken aback but the taste was great! Very bold. It definitely outshined my entree, gringas con molé, which was very tasty itself but compared to the ceviche i had just feasted on it was more of a backseat rider than the driver. Just a note, the ceviche itself is big enough to be a meal. My partner got the carne asada and basically inhaled it, proclaiming that it was a "10." I didn't taste it was it looked great. We both got a house agua fresca, which I enjoyed WAAAY more than he did. He said it reminded him of breakfast. I thought it was very tasty, if may out of sync with the season. I definitely recommend this place and will be back.

Probably one of the best meals I have ever eaten. I got the Nor’Wester Bowl - a salmon dish with quinoa. It was amazing!!! Plus we shared the Guacamole and chips. I also really enjoyed my Mexican Mule. So good!

A safe neighborhood staple faced with the Mississippi masses. Contemporary Mexican-inspired dishes center on assorted seasonal vegetables alongside savory meats, prepared in a gluten-free environment. VC's Mississippi menu spans lunch, happy hour and dinner, as well as weekend brunch. Despite a distinct emphasis on Paleo principles, vegetarian and vegan options are plentiful — including an outstanding guacamole appetizer. Housed in an open venue awash with natural light, the space feels calm and leisurely even as patrons come and go. Locally sourced ingredients promise a dining experience that is environmentally responsible and nutritious alike.

Pleasantly surprised! Food was great and service was wonderful. Our server answered all questions and was very knowledgeable of the menu. We went around 7:30pm on a Thursday. It was a quiet atmosphere and I couldn't believe how good the food was. We had a table of 9 and everyone enjoyed their meal! My little girl was dancing around with the servers towards our departure. Such nice people!!

The food is good, lots of fresh veggies mixed in. The portions are great, no left overs but I was plenty full. The prices were reasonable for an upscale restaurant. The staff was courteous and attentive without being overbearing. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again but would certainly come back if I was in the neighborhood. The biggest downfall of this restaurant is that its so freaking dark inside. We could have picked a patio seat or a seat by the window, sure, but we chose a booth on a back wall. It was noon in a restaurant with a lot of windows and we had to use the flashlights on our phone to read the menus. The hallway to the restrooms had no light, I couldn't see the door indicator to see if it was occupied or vacant. Then inside the bathroom the light was dimmer than a single candle would have illuminated. How are you supposed to check your make-up or see if you've got kale in your teeth. Seems strange to serve beautiful food and not want to show it off a little.

Fairly miserable experience overall. First off, our waitress could not have been less excited to serve us. From the get go she was rude and completely inattentive. The food was also nothing exciting and I found the ceviche to be almost inedible it was so fishy. My friend ordered the crab enchilada special and had to keep spitting out shells. The guacamole was decent but we had to doctor it up with salt and salsa. I'm surprised that a place like this is able to stay in business with so much competition on Mississippi.

Fantastic food. Gluten free kitchen a big plus for my celiac friend who typically does not eat out. Excellent flavor combos - some serious wizardry happening here. Take your family here over the holidays if you're looking to show them the best things Portland has to offer!
