Google
With so many other mexican places offering free chips and salsa, paying $7 for it was a bit rough; though, I did like the resealable bag of chips for take-home. The salsa flavors were so-so - we didn’t like the sweet at all. We were confused by the burrito toppings.. thought I was getting a side enchilada and not just a $3 cup of enchilada sauce with cheese on top. The burrito was fine - standard quality ingredients and flavor; the side cabbage was a bit odd yet presented well aesthetically. Service was prompt and friendly. The interior atmosphere was inviting, while the bucket of cigs by the parking lot kind of grossed us out.

We like coming here for lunch occasionally. I had the lunch special which was two tacos (tuna and carnitas) with rice and beans. The food was decent. Previously I have had the ahi bowl which was ok as well. The service was good. Prices were ok (.i.e not expensive). Very friendly. Nice spot for lunch right downtown.

Google
Visited Verde one Friday evening. Service felt forced and inauthentic. The food, while tasty, was overpriced for what was offered. I had the Cali burrito which had a side of pickled cabbage leaving me wanting more for what was charged. In short: decent food but something was left to be desired for an optimal experience.

Google
Dylan was absolutely amazing!! We’re from out of town and we brought our dog for the farmers market. Not only did he charge my dying phone, but he brought water for my dog before we even asked. He was absolutely amazing and recommended the best food and drinks and we are so glad we had Dylan as our server and we will absolutely be back.

We came during lunch on a Tuesday. Super cute restaurant, loved the whole set up indoors and out. Amazing and attentive staff, they always checked on us and made sure we had everything we needed. Unlimited chips and salsa as well as the house margarita were delicious! Everyone at our table ordered 3 tacos each which looked amazing but we all agreed that they were definitely lacking flavor and seasoning. The shrimp taco only had 2 shrimp each and a lot of cabbage, it could definitely use one more shrimp! Everything was a hit except the tacos left us a little disappointed. I would give this place another try down the road!

Google
Their California burrito is good, tons of guacamole but they gave me no meat when I ordered it with carne asada. The fajita burrito’s peppers weren’t cooked, they were hard and almost raw. And because the peppers were basically raw, there wasn’t much flavor coming from them. Their tortillas are absolutely amazing. The Brussels sprouts were crispy.

Google
Absolutely delicious food with fast and friendly service by Greg. The outdoor seating is nicely shaded! Would highly recommend stopping by if in Louisville.

Google
Chips are great when they're fresh. Unfortunately I don't think I'd order enchiladas again from them. The red sauce felt like a pizza sauce more than an enchilada sauce, it was pretty disappointing in comparison to just getting a frozen meal and heating it up.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place, but my experience was pretty hit-or-miss. Our table had the steak fajitas and chicken fajitas- the chicken was really bland and lacked flavor, while the steak was definitely better but still nothing to rave about. I also tried 3 tacos: the coconut fish, fried cauliflower, and Korean beef. Flavor-wise, they were mostly solid, but the tortillas were way too thin and tore apart almost immediately, which made them messy and hard to enjoy- I ended up using a fork to eat them. Unfortunately, I also ended up with a pretty bad stomach bug afterward, which made the whole experience worse. Overall, there are some interesting menu options, but between the inconsistent flavors, flimsy tortillas, and how I felt after eating, I don't see myself coming back anytime soon.

Yelp
I've been in twice now and both times have been ~chef's kiss~ awesome! I don't know why it has taken me so long to write my review, but today's visit reminded me that I had the draft and needed to hype up Verde. Louisville has been one of my favorite places for as long as I can remember- I went to the Melting Pot on more than one occasion as a child, and even loved the atmosphere of the town way back when. Verde is newer, but it ticks all of the right boxes for me. Parking has never been a problem, the ambiance is super casual and welcoming, food is awesome (we will get to that later!), and staff have always been so friendly. I have only ever been during lunch, though, so keep this in mind; dinner is probs a whole different beast. The menu is very straightforward... so many things look yummy and it might be a struggle to choose because of that, but I have not yet been disappointed by a meal I've had; it has only been twice, but I still think that's awesome lol. The ingredients are a fresh, tasty, and clean. Onto the "meat" of the review... lol. Both times I have been in, we've gotten great recommendations from the ladies and gents that have waited on us - I'd also like to mention that the staff have great camaraderie and definitely seem to support one another super well, which is super friggin cool. First time we were in, I got a classic burrito with chicken. Super simple, but so yummy. Second time I had a hard time choosing, but went with the ahi tuna bowl... I was not disappointed this time either. Both meals were amazingly fresh and filling, but not too filling. I gotta say though, I was extra impressed by the ahi tuna bowl... I had no clue that I wanted and made a split second decision on that one, but it was the most amazing thing, I swear. BF got the enchiladas the first go around, and the California burrito the second time. He loved his enchiladas, but the burrito was mostly fries and was covered in cheese. I think he said he had a couple bites that had steak, which was kind of a bummer. Price point is very reasonable, the restaurant is clean and inviting, and portions are perfect for a nice lunch. I'd like to see what the dinner experience is all about at some point!

Mary Ann S.

Yelp
Love this restaurant. Fresh tortilla chips and an awesome variety of salsa. Recommend going at an off hour..

Yelp
We got food delivered to us and was super happy with the food. The chips were homemade, the nachos were tasty, and I loved how the jalapeños had a kick. Their pretzel bites were really good too. I would try them again.

Yelp
Stopped in because I was in the mood for a good marg and some tacos! The staff was attentive and welcoming. The place had lots of open tables upon arrival but quickly filled up! It was open and airy and the acoustics were not too loud. We ordered some Chips with salsa, queso, and guacamole. The chips came in a plastic branded bag with Verde on it. They were warm and delicious. The salsa and guacamole were yummy! The queso was PHENOMENAL. I'd come back just for some chips and queso. I also ordered a couple of tacos and a margarita. They were both an underwhelming crescendo. The asada was lacking flavor. The Korean beef taco didn't fuse together. I was looking forward to a tasty marg and unfortunately it missed the mark. The server let me know they were known for their tacos. I may have to come back to try some others to see if it was just an off night.

Yelp
Louisville is always a good visit, and Verde is one of its best options. Located right in the heart of the vibrant downtown district, Verde offers both interior (two levels) and outside seating. The place has a great vibe, and its customer service is at a high level. There's a good bar inside, and their outdoor seating offers a glimpse of the fun atmosphere that is so Louisville. Plenty of nearby parking and the RTD Dash line stops about 100' away! I loved their salsa and guacamole, with three different salsas that all were outstanding, and then totally loved the three taco plate that was incredibly tasty. They handled COVID quite well throughout the compromise, and I am looking forward to enjoying their work in a less compromised state.

Yelp
I used to go the the restaurant at this location and was very happy with everything, but I don't know if it changed ownership, but it is very different now (and not in good ways). Dining room is very open with all hard surfaces which makes it very loud. (a trendy style of decor apparently meant to discourage customers from lingering) The service was pretty good, but I'm not sure how it would have been if the child of the wait staff were not at the table next to us such that I could flag down the waitress on her frequent visits there. I ordered the carnitas plate. It came with a helping of beans, a helping of rice and a thin helping of dry shredded port spread out to make it look like much more meat than it actually was. No pico de gallo or green chili as is customary at every other Mexican restaurant I have ever eaten at. For $16, it was a pretty disappointing meal. (I know about inflation, but I eat out a LOT, so I know what my money can buy elsewhere) I will be looking for a different Mexican restaurant in Louisville.

Yelp
Easy take-out ordering during COVID. We walked right up to the window and our food was ready in less than 10 minutes! I ordered the 3 tacos for $12 deal. 2 fried avocado tacos and 1 mushroom taco. I was happy with how much filling were in the tacos, they didn't skimp at all which made the $4/taco price seem reasonable. I can't decide which I liked better... Maybe the mushroom taco, it had really nice flavor. The fried avocado could've used more juice, limes were missing from our to-go box. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
We recently moved to the area, and wanted to try Verde for lunch. My husband picked up a takeout order that was horrible. To start, the quesadilla was so greasy it was orange in color and so salty I could barely choke it down. Apparently you have to request sour cream and salsa to accompany the quesadilla, even though the photo they show includes these items. Maybe I'm hangry, but all I can say is Verde did not do it for me today. Sorely disappointed.

Yelp
We came with a large group on a Saturday late afternoon. Food was good, the service was friendly. From the salads, tacos, guac we all had a good experience.
google avatar

Leeza F.

Yelp
Ordered a plate of nachos - the chips are good and came with a lot of sour cream. The ambience was hit and miss. I appreciated the open track garage windows but the tables are wobbly and there are stacks of boxes along the walls. The plumbing smell in the bathroom area is overwhelming. Next, the service: we experienced a man from the bar as the waiter. No greeting, no personality, just collected our order and basically was never seen again. Overall I was expecting a bit more from this place as I desire restaurants in the area that care about service and culinary craft.

Yelp
Update: Covid-19 curbside pickup. Recently I wanted a margarita with Mexican food to go with it and I noticed quite a few places sell the drink but you have to order a quart. It's good to know that Verde offers house margs by the glass to pick up with food if you try to be reasonable and stop at one drink. They also sell their tacos A la carte, and the ones I ordered tasted better than when I visited about a year ago. After that positive experience, not only will I order takeout again from Verde, but I can't wait to go back and eat inside when our lives get back to normal. In the meantime they do a great job with delivery and pickup, and these days with parking super easy in Louisville (one of the very few positives of the shut down) you can basically park in front of Verde, pick up your order and go. Note that if you call to place your order, they open at 4pm.

Yelp
Came in near closing and they were almost insistent we come in and so happy we did. Wonderful people super awesome atmosphere and even better food.
google avatar

Danny R.

Yelp
Verde is great if you're looking to eat bland Mexican food in a loud, dark room full of corn chip boxes. Bring your own hot sauce if you want your food to taste like something. Seems to always be busy, but perpetually understaffed. Absolute mystery to me how this place is so popular.
google avatar

Yelp
Good social distancing set up . Tacos were smaller then I am used to . My fish taco was like two Bites but flavor was good. The carne asada taco also Too small!

Yelp
Came for dinner with two kids. We ordered: chips, salsa fundido and guacamole, a Mexican coke, lemonade, and margarita, for entrees we ordered a chicken quesadilla, chicken tacos, vegetarian Chile relleno, and kids nachos with chicken. Our meal came out to $99 with our tip My thoughts: It was a LOT of food. Every single one of us had a whole separate serving of our meal left over (but felt it wouldn't keep as leftovers so we didn't take it home), The chips were delicious and warm and fresh but the salsas felt boring and not 'fresh' or exciting. The fundido was a little spicy for our kids. Nothing was bad about the meal, but it felt a bit unexciting other than the giant portions The margarita was really strong for our taste- some folks will love this so it's neither a pro or a con It was definitely filling and everything was cooked well and plenty of seasoning Service was good, our server was friendly, checked on us several times and brought extra salsa and sour cream upon request

Yelp
Friday nights in Louisville really hop given their weekly outdoor festival in summer. We opted to walk a few more blocks to dine outdoor at Verde. Our local friends appeared to know all of the friendly staff at this place. They have a flexible ordering system you can do it all including paying via a QR code or you can do it the old fashion way and order and pay via the wait staff. I prefer the personal touch. Their chips come pre-bagged, a Covid innovation, kinda of odd but they were good. I liked the salsa sampler. The enchiladas were solid and the black bean side was very good. A fun experience.

Yelp
Great food, atmosphere and service! Great hometown feel, lively with great drinks. Will be back!

Yelp
We came here because Huckleberry was closed. I got the 3 pc taco and my friend got the chicken Fajita quesadilla. She did not enjoy the quesadilla that much as she felt the chicken was dry and the peppers were cut too big. She would not get those again. I got four tacos, carne asada, al pastor, ahi tuna, and coconut fish. The carne asada taco the meat itself was very dry, and not flavorful. The al pastor was ok I don't think it was flavorful either and I actually didn't like the skin they choose for it a little dry. I loved the ahi tuna taco, the shell they used was a wonton shell. The coconut fish I felt it was beet slaw overload. The price point you can find better tacos elsewhere for that quality. The food came out quickly but the service was slow, as we were out of water but they never came....

Jim R.

Yelp
Great food, awesome/unique salsas and the taco size was great (Rare combo of quality ingredients and portions big enough to feel like a full meal). The 3 taco deal for like $15 and some chips/salsa was plenty. Margs were also very good and not just a glass filled with ice and a little bit of liquid. Very friendly/helpful staff. I appreciate that they offered to split our check for the group without us asking. I usually won't ask because I know it's a hassle but I'll always tip extra if they offer to do so :)

Yelp
We had dinner at verde. Weather was great. They had multiples tables outside. The tables are at least 6 feet apart for social distancing. I had a spicy margarita and spicy Brussels sprouts. The margarita was yummy. The sprouts came in a big portion. They were ok. But somehow the sprouts were overcooked. The staff was very friendly. They were all wearing masks.
google avatar

Yelp
I think this place is a little underrated on Yelp. Their food is good, especially the green chili, and the location in downtown Louisville is convenient. The space is clean and has a fun atmosphere. Service is nice and attentive. A good option for standard Mexican fare in Louisville.

Dan P.

Yelp
The recipes at Verde are awesome, and the service is great - always friendly and fast. The spices on their tacos are simply so flavorful on basic items like chicken, then there's the spicy korean beef taco or the pork green chili taco, and plenty of other great choices. I like getting a habanero margarita with tajin rim, kicks up any order. The vibe is fun (they're above the Tilt arcade and Louisville Underground, easy to eat there then go to a show.) In warm weather the garage doors open and there's outdoor tables in the summer. And there chips are really goodm you can by bags to go.

Yelp
I am a huge fan of Verde in Louisville and Boulder. Every time I get their tacos or burritos I feel like I've been transported to a heavenly place for incredible Mexican food. #TheyAlwaysDoItRight Marcus, TJ, Brandon, and Seth always remember me even with a mask on.
google avatar

Skye E.

Yelp
So disappointing!!! Chips and salsa for $6? Their tacos are dry and flavorless and the ahi taco was terrible. Very little tuna and an entire shell of cabbage with no sauce. I have been looking forward to trying this place for so long and can honestly say I will never be back. I do want to shout out to a very nice staff, that is a very big deal these days.

Dillon T.

Yelp
I just got 2 of the same burritos. One was half the size of the other. They were also 18 dollars each. Added a 5 dollar tip as well.
google avatar

Saundra R.

Yelp
Interesting taco options, easily accessible, great neighborhood for a casual walk. Will return to check out other menu options!
google avatar

Eric L.

Yelp
Their chips are delicious, salsa and guacamole are good (wish they had more spice). Tacos were very lackluster; Ahi was over cooked and had a strange soy sauce drizzle, coconut fish was ok, and carnitas was good (but you can find better even in Boulder). Overall, nice atmosphere, good chips, cheap margs but if you actually want good Mexican food try Tierra y Fuego or Ephrain's.
google avatar

Decker N.

Yelp
Overall, it wasn't a bad meal and service was relatively attentive (if a little scattered). Menu has some winners but needs refining. The Nachos starter did not have enough cheese, but the overall flavor of it was tasty regardless of a bad cheese-to-chip ratio. My entree was the three taco plate of the Coconut Fish, Cauliflower, and Al Pastor. The Cauliflower taco was EXCELLENT and I wish I had just ordered that. The other two (fish, al pastor) were pretty lacking in flavor. Friends that I was with seemed to enjoy the margaritas and most of their tacos/quesadilla. The only thing that went largely uneaten by them was the Creamed Corn and Kale taco - no sign of either ingredient being creamed (feels weird to write but it's true), which left the hard shell taco quite dry. My takeaway is that I probably wouldn't come running back here to entertain, but if someone invited me here, I wouldn't put up a fight.

Donna T.

Yelp
great chips and salsa. They package their own chips and I have bought them as they are delicious. amazing tacos and rellanos. margs are good but small. Very nice service.
google avatar

Yelp
Outdoors today! 87F Saturday with sunshine , acoustic guitar and sweet solo music. Margaritas, 2 please, Verde hand cut tortilla chips are now in King Soopers and delicious. Lots of dips. Off agin for the moto to the hills. Enjoy Louie at Verde. We do.

Yelp
First time here for us. We sat by the garage door windows and with the coolish temp outside, it was perfect!!!! Hubs had the burrito with enchilada sauce, we were told it was a bit spicy but it was more than a "bit".., all said it was really good and Hubs ate every bite. Greta, our server recommended the smoked pork tacos, so this is what I tried.. very tasty!!! Super tender and very flavorful!!! We also had chips and guacamole ... chips had a little touch of lime and the fresh made guacamole was spot on!!! Hubs drank frozen margs and thought they were nice and sour, just like he prefers!!! The ambiance was great, there was a band playing last night which was really fun too. All in all .. a nice evening, Verde is a nice add to downtown Louisville
google avatar

Jessica H.

Yelp
Food is over the top expensive for Mexican food (beware: you will pay A LOT for ALL extras/add on's), and lacking most of the flavor for the price. All but one salsa is sweet (why?), and the sauce they deem as "Enchilada sauce" has very little flavor, none of it being good. All of the drinks I have tried on the two occasions I visited (margaritas and a mimosa) were less than tasty and sadly weak. I wanted to try the "Cheese Crisp", but after reading the description, I came to the conclusion that this was not going to be anything like the Arizona Cheese Crisps that I came to love. Sounded more like it would become a cheese soggy with all the unneeded toppings. I thought about asking them to exclude the tomatoes, onions, green chilis (these are actually ok on a cheese crisp, and traditional), sweet peppers, salsa and crema, but decided that would be a HUGE waste of $12. $12 for a cheese crisp... HA! No. After spending over $50 for lunch, on a Sunday, for two of us (and only one of us had an alcoholic beverage), my boyfriend and I have decided that Pica's is the only redeemable Mexican food in Louisville (so far). Sorry Verde. You just didn't live up to our expectations.
google avatar

Bob F.

Yelp
We had such a mediocre experience here. The service was fine. The chips and queso were good. The California burrito was mostly filled with potatoes and just wasn't good. The fajita burrito was barely edible. Margs were very watered down. Just wasn't worth the money. Chipotle honestly makes much better food. Won't be going back here.
google avatar

Stephen P.

Yelp
Friendly service, tasty food, great atmosphere, and good prices! We came during weekend brunch. I wasn't sure what to expect from the menu, but it was perfect! The green chile biscuits & gravy and the breakfast nachos were both unique and delicious. A pitcher of mimosas was good for the four of us to share. It's hardly recognizable from the previous occupant of the building; it's now a solid modern minimal setting with splashes of colorful culture.
google avatar

Sarah A.

Yelp
We stopped in for a birthday lunch and it was excellent! I can't say enough good things about how delicious their burrito bowl salad was, their drinks, and their spicy sprouts were! Our waitress was attentive and kind. We really liked the place!
google avatar

Elle W.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots to go on my lunch break with coworkers. Excellent selection of tacos and beverages (see: margaritas). Ask about the lunch special -- it's not on the menu anymore, but you will get two tacos and rice and beans for around $11. The ahi tuna is a personal favorite, but in my experience you can't go wrong.
google avatar

Hector B.

Yelp
Weird due to covid. Order at the front and sit. The food was great. We tried several tacos and yummy!!!! Great drinks! Nice employees. Good experience!
google avatar

Adrian H.

Yelp
Place is super cool! The food was super delicious!! I had the pork belly tacos and carne asada!! The next day I went back (yes, because the food was really good!!) I had the California burrito which was also really good!! The home made salsa even better!!The beer selection is solid!! The space is very open, very cool decoration. Loved the Mexican wrestlers on the wall. I will be coming back here on my next trip.

Yelp
This place was nasty. The enchilada sauce tasted like Campbell's tomato soup. Also I was ignored for a bit when I sat down. One of the male servers was too busy sitting & playing on his laptop and entertaining his friends at the bar. The salsa & chicken fajitas was edible after I added salt. 2 A la carte cheese enchiladas that tasted like canned tomato soup for $14.00 is ridiculous.
google avatar

Yelp
Chips and (vegetarian) Chile Rellenos: that's my yardstick. The lime chips were FANTASTIC and plentiful. The salsas were fine, nothing exciting. The chile rellenos was burnt, like crack a tooth it's so hard. Disappointing. The waitperson didn't check back with us so I could say "it's burnt." Also never checked in when we needed more water, so I had to go and ask. The restaurant is maybe more of a bar? REALLY loud with the hard surfaces, and we were there early, 4:30pm, so the place was mostly empty and still l-o-u-d. The service, from waiting (+ I do mean waiting) to be greeted + seated, to ordering, to getting more water, etc., was nearly non-existent and some of them were clearly reluctant to be friendly, most notably the bearded man who grudgingly finally came over to half-heartedly seat us. Our waitperson, when seen, was sweet. And absent. Mostly absent. Seriously, those lime chips were good enough to earn Verde its star. The rest sucked. Will never return.

Connie R.

Yelp
Wildly inconsistent. I ordered the same dish a couple of weeks apart because it was so amazing the first time. The second time it was missing one of the items listed on the menu, and not amazing, but still good. Our service was fantastic the first time and a bit lackluster on the second. I still plan to go back in the future.

Eric B.

Yelp
Love this restaurant. Best food, service and ambiance in Old Town Louisville. Love their margs and chips (world class chips are so incredible, we left with a carton with 10 bags - literally the best we have EVER had). Super fresh food that is so full of favor. Tacos and enchiladas are out of this world. Veronica runs the restaurant and her husband is the cook --- they are awesome!

Cheryl M.

Yelp
Terrible experience. Food was so salty, and the "chicken" tortilla soup was made with carnitas which was far too rich for soup. I never post negative reviews but this warranted one.
google avatar

Jessica R.

Yelp
I really want to love this place. I only sorta like it. The margaritas are always delish and the overall ambiance is tastefully funky and appealing. The food though...it's so inconsistent that I've learned to avoid spending money eating here. They have added some healthier options to the menu, which does tempt me to revisit eating here, but that will likely only happen if I have one too many margaritas.

Elizabeth Moss D.

Yelp
I have been a regular patron ever since Verde opened in Louisville. I keep trying to believe in them. It's getting harder though. Margs and food are increasingly inconsistent. Super frustrating for someone is expects consistency. Today after a year of not going out with my husband, we went to Verde for the first time. I was eager to share with him my love for the coin margarita. It was awful. Way too tart. The same turned out to be true with the California taco. The meat was tough and not edible. Very disappointed. Come on guys, you can do much better.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious takeout well packaged and prepared! Family tacos with chicken were a huge hit and plenty of food. Highly recommend their guacamole.
google avatar

Rick H.

Yelp
Spicy Sprouts? At a Mexican Restaurant, yes please! Who knew a huge tray of crispy, spicy Brussels sprouts with a jalapeño-type crumbly cream queso would be in our future as we walked into Verde? Glad we ordered. They use Cotija cheese...not gooey, not buttery, but a bolder, salty, crumbly unique white cheese. Think "melty, milky." We also added the Rolled Tacos, since it was an impromptu visit, and thought a couple of starters would sit well with some Margaritas. I thought "Taylor Swift Skinny Leg" rolled tacos would be coming...nope. These were burly, brawny rolled tacos! Two "Popeye Forearm", deep-fried, full of shredded chicken tacos showed up, cut diagonally so there were really four. Plenty to share...not saying I did. I love the Verde's take on unique spice...not too much heat, but so far from bland. See that, my taste buds are giving you a standing ovation. We paired our visit with the Habanero Margaritas. Fresh margs...not really too spicy, so our sociable server, gave us a little more habanero kick. Now were' talking! The Margaritas are really good, just smaller than I'd like. We'll be back; this place is fun, new and fresh! (BTW, it's in the old Blue Parrot Building, so some old "Lousivillians" are still a little heartbroken.)

Yelp
I'm a fan. I'm a fan because they are thoughtful enough to have plenty of large group seating. I'm a fan because their Avocado and Bean salad is gigantic and delicious. It's a basket of veggies with yummy dressing! I'm a fan of their guac (it's good for Colorado guac) and not so much a fan of their salsa. It's okay, just left me wanting. The staff is friendly and they're attentive. The house margarita was delicious as well. I think the areas to improve are the chips (lots of broken ones, not the best flavor I've ever had, but also not bad) and salsa (try a straightforward red salsa). I'd recommend this spot for a chill lunch with a margarita and some delicious veggies.
