Avoid that situation at Verdugo Bar, the excellent Glassell Park spot where everyone can sit outside, drink craft beer, and order individually from whatever food truck they want. "With its roomy, semi-private backyard patio, Verdugo Bar has long been one of the most underrated places to drink outside on the Eastside. It’s the kind of place you wind up at after being turned away from five other spots in Silver Lake and you kick yourself for not coming here first. Verdugo Bar is that place. "This Glassell Park bar doesn’t look like much from the outside, but head inside and out the back, you’ll find a biergarten you probably never knew existed. They’ve got 20 beers on tap, including some hard-to-find stuff from places like Kern River Brewing, and DJs playing music you actually want to listen to. You can also get rowdy here on a weeknight, if you want to - they always have deals on picklebacks, and affordable shots of good whiskey. "Verdugo is where you go when you’re rolling deep on a Saturday, but you don’t feel like dealing with the crowds in Silver Lake or Downtown. Located off a side street in Glassell Park, Verdugo has a fantastic back patio, a big craft beer selection, and a weekend Happy Hour that runs from 3-7pm. While they don’t serve any food, there’s always a few food trucks out back for when your body is crying out for nourishment." - brant cox
