Google
I’ve never heard much about Virginia wines but Veritas exceeded expectations. Very good whites and my partner enjoyed some reds. Beautiful views and great service. The staff even recommended a restaurant for us to try Sunday brunch while we were in town.

Google
I had an awesome experience at a recent fall wedding working with Veritas. Meredith was great to work with and a huge help during the set up and throughout the night! I can't wait to come back for another wedding.

Nini

Google
Visited quite a number of wineries but Veritas definitely exceeded meet expectations. The ambiance was awesome and the red wines were chefs kiss!!!

Google
Veritas is such a beautiful place. I stayed a night at The Farmhouse which was the perfect bed and breakfast experience. I didn’t spend too much time at the winery because I went to Veritas Illuminated, which was cute and fun! But I love that the winery stays open late for Veritas Illuminated. After we finished the trail, we went in for a glass of their port wine, which was delicious, and their grilled cheese and short rib hoagie which were pretty good too.

Google
We have visited this place twice, and it is absolutely amazing. The associates are incredibly kind, the wine is excellent, and we truly recommend it.

We visted back in April and had a wonderful experience. We had reservations in the restaurant and the food, service and wine were all fantastic. We moved to one of the outdoor seating areas once we finished our meal and enjoyed incredible mountain views.

Google
Absolutely beautiful views and vineyards. Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains is an extraordinary venue for events. Great food. Great wine. Great times. Variety of seating and selfie spots. Highly recommend the cab franc

Google
Loved this place! The waitress was super kind and friendly. I was able to try 2 sweet desert wines and bought a bottle of one of them. The cheese board was delicious with various cheese, grapes and raisins - very worth the price! I'll definitely come back with a friend next time.

Yelp
This was our second stop on a wine tasting adventure, and it was great. There was a bit of a long wait at the bar, but once we got our wine and got seated, we relaxed into the afternoon. The tasting room is pretty as are the grounds and the property as well cut. The tasting board is absolutely worth it and they serve the wine in these cute little bottles on the board. This was overall a cool experience.

Yelp
Hi! I wanted to reach out as someone who comes to your winery 3-4 times a year. I truly enjoy coming a few times a year and have always appreciated the experience. However, during my visit this past Friday 2/28, I was disappointed by the service. Unfortunately, the servers were quite rude disrespectful, and unhelpful, which made for a less-than-enjoyable experience. I wanted to bring this to your attention because I've always had great visits. I was in town for a girls weekend with 10 friends and I recommend this winery. The two female bartenders were so rude to my friends and me I couldn't believe it. Unhelpful and uninterested. I'd appreciate any insight you can provide and hope my next visit will be more in line with the wonderful experiences I've had before.

Yelp
Going to Veritas is always amazing and I've never had a bad experience here. I was with some family and friends and we came to see the Christmas Illumination lights they had set up! it was $15 for a ticket! They could've had more lights but it was still super pretty and something fun to do! We got a bottle of the White Star wine and it's super sweet but delicious! We got a table in the ballroom and it was very elegantly decorated. The service was nice and the food was delicious. We got a chicken sandwich and the fries to share and it was super tender and delicious!

Megan M.

Yelp
We went here after horseback riding at the vineyard and everybody was so kind and accommodating! We had the wine tasting as well as the cheese board. I loved reading the descriptions and instructions on the wine tasting! The place was very upbeat and lively, would definitely recommend!

Mary A.

Yelp
We came for Veritas Unlimited and had a wonderful time. We arrived early so we got a great parking spot. We enjoyed some wine a food prior to our entry time. The food - chicken sandwich with pimento cheese and the French onion grilled cheese were both very good. We enjoyed walking through the light display. It was really crowded when we left so we were thankful to have an early time slot.

Lauren C.

Yelp
I highly recommend this winery for many reasons, especially because the dill pickle served with the sandwich was the best pickle ever. I cannot stop thinking about this pickle.

Kathleen D.

Yelp
This is such a stunning winery! It's set in the mountains of Afton and is a reasonable drive from Richmond. I was fortunate enough to visit on a pretty spring day on a date. I ordered a glass of white, and he had a rose. While mine was good, we both preferred his more. The only annoying thing, which was outside of the winery's control, was the screeching child screaming for her dad, who remained oblivious to his toddler and later dropped his baby like it was nbd. I will never understand. Fortunately, there's a whole lot of space on their patio and grounds. Unfortunately, sound travels. I'm glad to have checked this place out finally, and I'm sure I'll be back someday to try more of their wines.

Liz G.

Yelp
Fabulous views here! We sat on the terrace and enjoyed two bottles of wine and an appetizer plate, both were delicious.

Elizabeth F.

Yelp
It's a place you come for the views. It's an impressive estate with great views of the Shenandoah Valley. They have igloos and fire pits if you want to enjoy the outdoors during winters. We stopped into have a classic flight to share. They were very accommodating giving us two glasses so we could share. The winery was clever with how to approach tastings in light of public health concerns, with a card for tasting descriptions and QR codes to link to a video on the wine notes. The flight was $15 and included four wines. - Viognier - Probably my favorite. Very crisp. - Rose - It's difficult to imagine drinking a rose in January. The cab franc base gives it a commanding taste that makes it a good pairing option even in cold weather. Very smooth. - Merlot - Very fruit forward - Red Star - Our least favorite, a bit to sweet for our liking The wine was average and a bit too light and sweet for our palate. We enjoyed the service and views, so extra star for that.

Bridgett F.

Yelp
Ordered food to have with my flight. No real wine tasting here. The waiter was clueless. He never ordered my food. They walk around with iPads and still can't get even get the orders right .. When he finally came by the table, we asked about the food " you ordered food" we ordered waters he only brought one .. I'll never go back. The wine was terrible, reminds me of kids mixing all the colors together and crap comes out. I couldn't drink the reds on the flight, and I drink red. They want you to scan codes to read about the wines, the Wi-Fi there is locked what a pain. A lot of people go there, good for them. It's not for me. Bathrooms are not adequate for the amount of people. The view is ok. It's nice looking place. See for yourself.

Payton W.

Yelp
I like it here, but I'm not totally blown away. The wine itself is great, but the service was pretty slow and the general ambience of the indoor space was lacking. I think on a cooler day, sitting outside would've improved the experience!

Jack H.

Yelp
Nice shaded areas, plenty of indoor seating. Reasonable prices, and good food to accompany the wine!

John G.

Yelp
My wife and I decided to stop here on Saturday (our day to do these very things). Gorgeous property. The wine is okay. Maybe just not our scene I think. They are a little controlling on where you sit, but that's their right. I think they are trying to maintain order and not have it be crazy, like other places close by. When we visit wineries we always try learn about the vineyard. The ladies that helped us didn't have a clue nor were they too engaging. They were polite, but the line in the ball room to serve glasses was clearly overwhelmed and their focus was elsewhere, which is fine. I get it. They were overwhelmed enough that I chose not to stand in line for another glass. I think they need to rework their system, but then again it might just be staffing shortages that are par for the course these days anywhere you go. We both tried their red which was fine. All and all this is a nice vineyard, but will I return, ahe.... ? No photos on this review.

Yelp
We had a lovely afternoon at Veritas! I'm not usually too impressed by Virginia wines, but we really enjoyed Veritas. The grounds are lovely and main building comfortable and nicely decorated. We shared a flight of 4 wines and a charcuterie board. All the wines were really tasty - but the merlot was our favorite. We'll be back!!

Aarti M.

Yelp
We visit Veritas annually when we are in the Charlottesville area and it's always an enjoyable experience. They have some great white wines- in particular the sauv blanc and viognier were hits this time around. The winery gets very busy on the weekends and this time around it was a bit tough because it was so hot out and only so much was available in the shade. I learned after we arrived that you could make a dog friendly reservation on the veranda so that's a tip for the future. Overall- still had a great experience but wish I had made a reservation and wish they served the sparkling by the glass because I was tempted to get a bottle but wanted to taste it first. Still highly recommend!

Janet C.

Yelp
Fantastic wines and food available. Picnic areas available that are cordoned off for social distancing. Love the Viognier and the charcuterie platter. Service was good and they made sure pups had water.

Amanda E.

Yelp
My hubs and I decided to stop here on our traveling excursion. Gorgeous, beautiful property!! The wine is okay. Maybe just not up to our liking on what we prefer. When we visit wineries we always ask about the history of the vineyard. Well the gentleman that helped us didn't have a clue. We decide on drink a bottle of white wine and it included two signature glasses which we like to collect. All and all this is a nice vineyard.

Sonia P.

Yelp
Gorgeous winery - it was very crowded when we got there but we were lucky enough to score a table outdoors. Servers were very busy and the place seemed short staffed - took forever to get our table bussed and cleaned, but once we were seated our orders were taken quickly and the wine and food arrived promptly. The wine was great - I tried the dry Rosé and we liked it so much that we got 2 bottles to go. The appetizers that we ordered were absolutely incredible! The cheeses were buttery and fresh, the bread was warm and everything was put together beautifully. The Whipped Feta was the perfect combination of sweet and savory - just absolute perfection! Wish we lived closer and could go back frequently! Loved everything about it.

Megan F.

Yelp
Beautiful and decent wine flight that included a white, rose, and 2 reds. We ordered a charcuterie board which they were able to add gluten free bread to. The biggest downfall is there are only 2 single stall bathrooms-which resulted in long wait times considering there were a lot of large female groups.

Mark N.

Yelp
They screwed up our reservation, but recovered fast to get us seated. Stuff happens and I give them points for responding. Especially given how tough things are with COVID. Outdoor seating is great with tables and a tent. Very beautiful scenery there. While we enjoyed all the wines, the reds were the stars. In particular the Petit Verdot and the 2019 Claret were excellent. There were lots of great food options, but the cheese and charcuterie that came with a fresh warm baguette. We enjoyed our experience here and will come back for sure the next time we are in the area.

Christy W.

Yelp
So very disappointed. My very FIRST Yelp review over 7 years ago was to give this winery a FIVE star review - was literally so blown away by everything at this place I was sold. My honey and I visited last fall and were disappointed, but the weather was terrible and we thought "maybe we need to come back in the spring and give them another chance..." NOPE. Never again will we go to Veritas. I won't go back even if the entice me with FREE WINE at this point. Let me tell you about today. We walk into the main room that used to be the tasting room. Folks are all sitting at tables and eating and drinking wine....we don't see anyone doing tranditional tastings so we stand at the bar not sure what to do. A lady walks up and says "what can I do for you?" My husband says "we would like to do some tastings please." She says, "you need to go outside". He says "outside for tastings? Where do we need to go?" She says "to the terrace - outside." So we go outside to the "terrace" and when we walk up the lady pulls out an iPad and just looks at us - no greeting or anything. Honey finally says, "I'm sorry, but, we aren't sure what to do here" she says "well, they didn't tell you anything inside did they". Anyway, we had to scan a QR Code to learn about our wine tasting and we felt like we were evil step children and had to sit outside. I'm totally DONE with this place. Never again.

Jenny S.

Yelp
I love a good vineyard and this one does not disappoint! It has beautiful view of the mountains. The inside is nice and cozy with a cute little fireplace. I did the tasting and fell in love with the Chardonnay. The crudite board was delicious, especially the hummus. They had fire pits and plenty of tables outside. We reserved a little bubble which helped block the wind which was really cool! Definitely hit up this vineyard if you are in the Charlottesville area!

Sam S.

Yelp
Nice place but Jessica was not a nice server and should not be in that position. She was cold, did not introduce herself, and seemed to want to us to leave quickly. I won't be coming back here!

Alyssa G.

Yelp
Nice winery, they have igloos outside that are simple and cute. We went during Christmas season, we did the walking lights. Nothing spectacular, definitely over priced but gave us something to do at night since a lot of wineries close at 5. Inside was very nice and grand.

Harry L.

Yelp
Good wine and a great sandwich. Fireplace was nice, warm and welcoming. Staff was welcoming and attentive.

Danae L.

Yelp
What a great place to hang out for wine! I've only been to a handful of wineries in California, but none were as organized as Veritas. From the moment I passed the main entrance, a woman greeted me and directed me towards a gentleman who helped me find the perfect glass of white for the afternoon. I'm use to fighting for the bartender's attention...so this was a fresh breath of air. Anyway! I explained to Doug that I was looking for one glass, not multiple tastings. We started with something sweeter like the white... white something hehe, the third item on the tasting menu. It was too sweet, so he gave me a sample of the Chardonnay. Ooh, too dry for my liking. But the viognier was perfect. Veritas seems like a place you hang out in the warmer days of the year because theres not enough seating inside around the fireplace!!

Libby B.

Yelp
Great place for all ages... family, friends, loved ones. We didn't make a reservation and got seated right away. I got the flight and it was delicious. They also serve food which is nice. The views were great. dog friendly as well which is a plus.

Margaret G.

Yelp
This is my second time visiting Veritas, although my first experience with the wines was not as good as this time! The wines given at the tastings were good (although the merlot is still not my favorite) If your looking for a bite with your tasting, highly recommend the shared charcuterie board! It is huge and delicious, enough food for two people for lunch!

Brittney W.

Yelp
in regards of our extreme frustration and disappointment with your company and management. My partner and I have visited your establishment while we lived in Virginia many times. We loved it. We loved the atmosphere so much that we decided to have our wedding celebration there. We worked with Emily who was fantastic. We set our date for October 15th,2021. However, due to our family having to move because of my partners job, it put us in Colorado. We had decided to work with Amanda and reset our date for September 23rd,2023.As time went on,we were too financially set back from our move as a whole, we had to decide to cancel our celebration. We were granted partial of our money back. We then worked with another individual in this position names Juliette. The third person. We were told by Amanda that she had an individual reach out for our date and that she offered them the same food and beverage minimum and venue rental that we had. Stated in our email. My partner is currently there today September 16th,2023. She has talked to the fourth individual who has been there in this position a short time and she has no knowledge whatsoever of our situation. We have been in contact with your event coordinators throughout time. We have seen that your company is holding a "2023 mad jazz festival" on our date that was to be held, September 23rd,2023. My partner was told by this current events coordinator that " it didn't take us much to put it together because we are having food truck provided". We are appalled by that response. Your company is selling tickets, add ons, VIP tickets, paying the musicians, giving away complimentary tickets for members. Our celebration was from 6-12am and this event is 2-11pm. More time than what our wedding would've been. And we're we're told from Amanda that the remainder of the money we would not get back would be due to loss of business. We understood that, however you are NOT losing business we are so unsettled and I will say I have submitted claims against your company because at this point and how my partner was talked to and treated there is absolutely uncalled for. I do demand something be done about this, because if I need to pursue legal action to look further into this. I will start. Kindly, The wrights

Yelp
This is a beautiful venue/winery! We stopped by to try some wine and snacks while visiting the mountains for a fun family/Mother's Day. We didn't have a reservation so we found a picnic table on the patio that was first come first served. It was a rainy (off and on) afternoon but the umbrella kept us dry. We wanted to try a flight but the flights here are "fixed" so we skipped straight to sharing a bottle or the Red blend and one of my daughters opted for a glass of the white blend. We also ordered a cheese plate. The service was quick even though they were super busy. Everything was spectacular! This was the nicest cheese plate with very generous portions of three different cheeses, dried fruits, grapes, olives, fig jam and a baguette. We ended up ordering a few more baguettes because 1 was definitely not enough. The bread was warm and so fresh! We loved the wine so much that we bought some to take home. I highly recommend Veritas for a fun afternoon and it looked like the perfect place for a wedding as well.

Cassie W.

Yelp
One of my favorite vineyards in this area. The main building is gorgeous and HUGE. Perfect for weddings and fancy events. The atmosphere and clientele seem pretty boujie, but it's worth it for the gorgeous views and great wine. My favorite is the Petit Verdot. My husband likes the Red Star table wine. The charcuterie board was delicious, and we were both stuffed after sharing it. Wish I had gotten a pic of it!

Priyanka G.

Yelp
Veritas requires reservations, which we luckily had. Our group was 6, so we made 2 reservations. They were strict about table hopping, which completely makes sense due to COVID. You could also just order and eat at the picnic benches. We ended up doing that after eating. But we wished we did that from the start. The weather outside was beautiful but the outdoor patio area was covered. If you wanted to sit out on the grass, they have the covered igloo (new trend) and a fire pit in an allotted area. The con about that is that you have to pay (what I believe to be) a ridiculous amount. The food was subpar, but again this is a winery not a restaurant. The wine was on par - nothing too amazing or too bad. Will I be back? Probably not, I'd rather check out other wineries in the area.

Kurt M.

Yelp
Just bought wine as driving through region, not friendly, poor service, poured a glass in the same glass I had been tasting with. The wine however was surprisingly good, ambience looked great and the cheese I saw looked good, probably a nice place, I just had shitty sevice

Sarah H.

Yelp
There are people out there who may tell you that Pippin Hill is the most iconic and best Charlottesville winery, but I am here to tell you that those people are WRONG. Veritas not only has better prices, bigger pours, and better food, but they also have arguably better ambiance and equally good wines. Starting during COVID, $15 gets you a classic wine flight with 4 mini glass bottles, a tasting glass and a card with descriptions of each wine and a QR code that you can scan for a video description of each wine from their sommelier, so it feels like a much more personal tasting experience than many of the other wineries that give you the wines and send you on your way. Also starting during COVID, Veritas offers outdoor seating areas that are privately sectioned off that include a picnic table, chairs, and most recently the most adorable fire pits! Veritas also offers indoor seating, tasting experiences, and first come first served seating inside in the ballroom and outside in the front. You can also bring your own chairs and set up a picnic closer to the vineyard itself! I would highly suggest making a reservation in advance, especially if you are unsure of the weather forecast. Veritas is very popular and seating goes fast, and you want to make sure you have a spot in the off chance of rain. Food tip: You HAVE to try their cheese board and the fig and goat cheese flatbread! Veritas arguably has the best cheese board in Charlottesville with 4 large types of cheese, a whole WARM mini baguette, grapes, olive oil, and a few spreads. Their fig and goat flatbread had me drooling for days after it was so good. I even came home and tried recreating it myself! Hands down, Veritas is a must see in Charlottesville. Pro tip: If you are unsure of which wineries to go to, I highly recommend doing the Nelson 151 tour with Wish Wish Wine Tours. Sit back and relax while they take you to 4 of the best wineries in Charlottesville and drop you off at your hotel so you don't have to worry about driving!!!

Zhana E.

Yelp
I love this vineyard, it is by far my favorite and most reliable. In the spring and summer I have always found a space to have a picnic. They have a lot of picnic tables but even better, they have plenty of space for blankets which makes for a great day outside. The winter can be tough though, there isn't a ton of space in the tasting room. The wine is always on point. Their tastings are great and fun! You can't go wrong buying a few bottles for your group. They also have great food. Their sandwiches are amazing and enough to make you full for a full day of wine tasting. They are normally pretty quick with the food too, so no long waits while your drinking your wine. Overall I love this place, and it is one of my favorite vineyards in Cville!

EM M.

Yelp
The service and wine were okay. The venue was beautiful, with plenty of parking and a nice indoor/outdoor area.

Stephanie J.

Yelp
We booked a canopy tent in advance for our visit, it's $25 for a one hour forty-five minute time slot. You can also bring your own lawn chairs or blanket to sit in the lawn. We started off with a wine flight for $20 (you get four wines, the sauvignon blanc, viognier, claret and petit verdot), and the roast beef sandwich with chips and fig and goat flatbread. Our favorite was the viognier so I got a glass of that next and my husband tried a glass of the white star. There are only a few of the wines available for a pour by the glass but all are available to purchase by the bottle. Overall, Veritas was a fun time with beautiful views.

Rachelle J.

Yelp
We celebrated a birthday here and April and had a great time! Beautiful property, great wine, and delicious finger foods to complement the experience.

Kristen M.

Yelp
This is easily the most rated winery in the area and even with it not being crowded, I was underwhelmed. They require a reservation and immediately have you go to your seat without much of a welcome or discussion about the wines or vineyard. We then waited about 15 mins before anyone even looked in our direction. Once we ordered our flight, it took another 25 mins to be able to order food. While I appreciated their flexibility with dietary restrictions, my friend ordered the grilled cheese with gluten free bread and they gave her plain bread with unmelted cheese. Why can't you grill the gf bread? It was literally a cold cheese sandwich. Their red star wine was pretty tasty but honestly I'd go to other vineyards that have better views and are more welcoming.

Eve T.

Yelp
Beautiful place. The view is worth the trip. People enjoying friends and food as well as good wine. Service was good too.

Findmefood O.

Yelp
Beautiful vineyard, delicious food and solid wines! The grounds are stunning, however, it was too cold and windy to take advantage of them during our visit. We had lunch and sampled some wine in front of their large fireplace, which was perfect!

Betsey L.

Yelp
We enjoyed a full day of wine tasting in Virginia over the summer, and our first stop was Veritas. The place was VERY busy- and because of Covid, there was already limited seating inside and on the porch- but luckily there was plenty of space outside to spread out. I would highly recommend making a reservation if you are planning on visiting on a Saturday or Sunday. It was very hot and humid that day, and we luckily were able to snag a seat inside where all of the tables were spread out. We enjoyed a really nice lunch and got to try a number of wines with our meal. Everyone who worked there was very accommodating and friendly. We had a really great time! It was a really beautiful vineyard with tasty wines and great food.

Kristie S.

Yelp
Their wines were the best in the region. We purchased the Sauvignon Blanc and the Cabernet. It was hot that day. Crazy for October. It would have been nice to have more shade umbrellas out on the grounds. We shared the hummus plate and it was fabulous. Fresh, lots of veggie assortment, a baguette and grapes. We will definitely be back to explore the area further and will repeat Veritas.

William B.

Yelp
Great wines with even better views. They have a wonderful covered deck plus a massive patio area. Pet friendly. I highly recommend the Red Star wine with the cheese board

Bill F.

Yelp
This is a really pretty location. They have ample outdoor seating on the lawn and picnic area, a large patio area that is uncovered, and a large covered deck, in addition to indoor space. For this area the wines are very good and they had a nice menu for lunch. I would place Veritas in top three or 4 in the region. Make sure you stop here...a reservation is recommended because they can get very busy.

Andy B.

Yelp
What a great place! Some may find it disconcerting to go off the beaten path on side roads and dirt roads, but for us it just added to the anticipation approaching this winery. There was plenty of parking. If you plan in advance to go here, I recommend reservations. We arrived at a good time and we got a nice table overlooking the view. The wine is great. The choice of wines on the flights is limited, but they will give tastes. The cheese board was well done. We left with a case of wine and smiles on our faces. We will be back!

Allen P.

Yelp
Love this place and love their wines. This has always been a favorite spot for us with a beautiful tasting room and exquisite wines. The igloo's and cool but MAKE a reservation.

Misty S.

Yelp
Nice tasting room, super busy and the snacks were pretty good. We enjoyed tasting at our own pace and tried all the wines. I would definitely stop again when the weather is warmer, we went during an expected snowy day in March.
