Cookie Love's cookies are yummy, soft and rich.
Cookie Love is a little shop located between Burlington and Vergennes. A sort of nowhere location really. Not where one might expect a booming cookie business would be located.
The first time I tried their cookies at the shop I wasn't really impressed. They had a small selection of traditional flavors, none of which contained nuts. Historically, my favorite chocolate chip cookies have nuts in them. I'm not sure if they changed their recipe to taste more rich and indulgent (I remember things being quite sugary) or if my opinion just changed, because now I love their chocolate chip cookie and a few other flavors. I still wish they had nut options, but if I'm craving a cookie, Cookie Love is most likely where I will go, or I will seek out their cookies in one of the few retail locations where they sell in Burlington, like Muddy Waters café and the City Market Coop.
One of the really nice things about this cookie company is that they sell their dough frozen, so you can buy it and know that the cookies you are making will taste the same as the cookies you buy at their store. It also allows local places to make their cookies and sell them fresh so they don't have an old, stale taste. The City Market sells a pretty large variety of local baked goods in its bakery section, the problem is that most of the local cookies, etc. I've bought there all taste stale and not great. It's possible the items would taste delicious fresh out of the oven, but after a few days most everything doesn't taste great. Now when I go to City Market and I'm craving a sweet baked good I will only buy Vermont Cookie Love cookies since I've pretty much tried everything else and know that the alternatives taste pretty terrible. The Cookie Love cookies always taste fresh. Probably because they are. And that's a great thing.
