Vernatoun Restaurant

It’s beyond me why this restaurant only has 7 reviews. It was honestly perfect in every way possible. The food was immaculate; the space was just right, and the servers were extremely congenial. The owner made us feel welcome the second we walked in, and truly seemed to care for all his customers. If you want to remember what it’s like to have a perfectly home cooked meal please, don’t hesitate to come here.

The place is very cozy, warm, inviting. We had a great time celebrating my cousin’s birthday. There was 12 of us and we ordered almost everything on the menu. Everything was delicious. Food was very fresh, tasted amazing and I love that many of their dishes are vegan. At first I was very hesitant when I read reviews about cigarette smoke smell, I’m not a smoker and I hate that smell. My friends who visited the restaurant several times, with family and friends, reassured me that not once they noticed anyone smoking there. And they all were telling me how delicious their food was, I wanted to try, and I’m glad I did. I was happy that there was no smoking smell! Definitely coming back!! The food is unbelievable. The atmosphere is wonderful. The service is truly incredible. I'd recommend this restaurant to all my friends and family. It truly is a hidden gem.

Very bad restaurant with rude personnel and owner. Would not recommend anyone visit this place or use any of their services. I’ve been in thousands restaurants all over the globe and sometimes owners don’t understand that they have to speak to guests with respect. Very bad experience

I was in the shopping center and briefly stopped by this place because I was very pregnant and needed to use the restroom. I asked the lady in front if I could use their restroom, and she was extremely rude and did not allow it. The entire place had just one customer, so it’s not like they were busy, either. I would have been happy to have purchased something from them, but she didn’t even suggest that before rudely shutting me down.

O my God they were our savior. On Thanksgiving day we went to pick up our order from whole food they said they don't have any turkey left!!!! It was 3 pm our guests were coming at 7!! We tried every where nobody wanted to help us, suddenly my dad remembered about this restaurant. We called, they were very polite and they took our order. It was very very delicious, I'm very glad we found this restaurant. I WISH I KNEW THEM LONG BEFORE we wouldn't waste our time with stupid whole food. Since that day I am telling this story to everyone I know. We are going to support this business now!!! Thank you veryyyy much.

Very good quality of food. We tried lule and bbqs, delicious!! Armenian salad was also perfect. The service is great. Very friendly staff. I recommend this place!!Really good one!

The first two places we tried to go were closed so we walked in here because of the location. We were over joyed by how amazing the food was One bite and I was remembering summers in Armenia. I know this is not what they were going for but the look, The smells even the smell of the servers perfume and cigarettes on the way in, the music, the amount of salt on the tomato, the way the food was served, the placemats, all of it was the most overwhelmingly nostalgic experience. My heart broke but was also deeply gratified, I travelled back in time to different time points at once, I had to stop and collect myself. The chicken was made to perfection, charred outside and soft inside. The potatoes were the same. The salad was very fresh with the right ratio of dill, onion, salt, and acid. It was a five star meal with great quality meat. I'm thankful that we stumbled in, I saw it on eat la and they had good reviews but still I didn't expect it to be this good. It was very good. From now on I will recommend this place for an authentic Armenian experience or if someone just wants good healthy food. Also it wasn't expensive My compliments to the chef

The food was very delicious, and really reasonable prices as well. They serve the best Beef Stroganoff in LA period. Highly recommended.

Love this new place. Went to Joann Fabrics for art supplies; then chanced upon this new restaurant across the street. The oxtail and lamb chops were delicious.

Very good place with variety dishes from different cousins!, their khash is the best in town! Definitely will come again

We had the beef and pork kabobs. The meat were juicy and flavorful. The meat was served with rice and thin sheets of bread. I think it was the owner who served us, gave us complementary beet and beans salad. He asked if we eat cucumber, tomatoes kind of salad. We said yes. We thought it was part of the plating on the meat But he brought the big bowl of Arminian salad out to us. It was a big o bowl of cucumber tomatoes salad. We were charge for it of course. But we didn't mind it since it was good to eat with the meat. The female owner gave us another complimentary basket of sheets bread. The service was good. Communication was a little struggle but it worked out. We would come back for the meat for sure.

Very bad service and rude people. Wouldn't recommend this place at all. I've been in thousands restaurants all over the world and sometimes I've seen this kinda places. Owners did not understand that they need to be a little polite to the customer or anyone who enters their business. Don't go to this place or use any of their services, unless you like to be offended.

Great food for sure. Looks like a new ownership. My friend had a catering service and said it was amazing and a really good price. I went there with my wife to try so we can order catering for my birthday. Great choice.

Came into the restaurant with no customer inside and the three ladies are just standing there talking. When one finally came up to me, she acted rude when I asked her for a menu. She would not explain what sides if any the entrees come with and kept telling me to take the menu and go. I figure it could be a language barrier and ordered. Upon getting my order, she did not want to give me my change and acted like I was bothering her. I have no idea how they are still in business.

I have great time and best food over here . I like the servants , they are great persons , so they reeding my stomach what want at this time:):):) . Everyone come here and eat best food in LA........

This was my first time there. First complaint, we waited over an hour for our food to come, when there was no other customers inside the restaurant. Second, food was horrible. Third, my bill came and the price of the items were different from the price on the menu. Fourth, bad customer service. I will never go here again.

Not sure how many stars to give, because we never tried the food. Place looks nice and cozy and clean. We made dinner reservations but when we walked in, the place smelled from cigarettes and there were people smoking behind some kinda curtains...Big no smoking sign on the door...but we just couldn't enter, so we left...we were few couples and enter separately just to make sure we don't mistaken about the smoke...Its ok if the owner don't mind, but this should be mentioned somewhere. We had asthma people in our group...sorry, we really wanted to try this place after seeing article in EAT LA...

My family drove all the way from Sacramento, the first place we wanted to eat at was Vernatoun. I can safely say, this is all we will eat for the remainder of our trip. AMAZING food, I have never had Armenian food this fresh, tasty, and juicy. THANK YOU! 10 stars!

We had a great time in this restaurant. We were there for the Mother's Day , enjoyed the great food, customer service and the nice music. We'll be be back again for sure.
