"Vero is a dimly-lit wine bar that works for a low-key date on the Upper East Side. Along with the street seating out front and the small bar, there are candlelit tables with red leather booths at the back of the space. They do Happy Hour until 7pm, which makes this a good spot to meet someone after work and share wine and small plates, like cheese and charcuterie or any of the 10 different types of bruschetta." - Matt Tervooren

I want to love this place, but the blonde bartender makes it impossible. Hovering over as soon as you enter as if you should already know your order, but then when you’re ready to order (or ready to ask for anything), she is constantly chatting up her “friends” who are regulars or the cook who is sitting at the bar. She literally spent over 10 minutes showing them pictures of her dog. Does she even work? Does the cook even work? I never got so much as an inquiry as to whether I wanted another glass of wine, let alone whether my flatbread pizza was edible (it actually was). Come for the food (delicious). Come for the wine (amazing selection). But definitely don’t come expecting anything more than mediocre service.

Amazing food. Great Sangria. $25 for 2 Hours? How could it get any better on the Upper East Side? This place is a diamond in the rough. The food is absolutely stellar and the selection of Sangria (400 possible combinations) is stellar. Definitely a must visit in the UES.

I came here with my fiance last Saturday night which happened to be their grand opening and I had a great time. The atmosphere was perfect. The decor was modern, chic, and sexy. The owner is a phenomenal host. Great selection of wine and the food is to die for. Vero is a must for date night or happy hour or just for a great night out.

Fun atmosphere, they play great music and everybody was dancing. People where interactin and having amazing time. At one point they had a gorgeous belly dancer performe, she even danced on top of the bar. We were served a terrific thin crust pizza with truffle oil. We had a blast and didn't realize what time it was. We left at 2 AM, as we were greeted by people who we just befriended and who continued partying. The owner Mark and his staff made everyone feel at home at this beautifully designed establishment.

We came in at 4pm. Happy hour begins at 3pm. The place was completely empty. Like no one. The bartender had a soccer game blasting on the TV. He was not friendly. We asked if the sangria was sweet, and he was like, "well it's sangria so what do you think?" The Pinot grigio and sparkling were $7 each and bad. Also, the water glass had some big black thing on it. The bartender ignored us the entire time and stood there watching TV with his arms folded. Do yourself a favor and go to one of the other 15 happy hour spots within eyesight.

My favorite wine bar on the upper east side. They have an awesome selection of drinks and food on the happy hour menu 4-8pm. Service is always friendly and attentive. They also have outdoor seating and just renovated the inside to make it brighter and more modern.

Lovely service, they were incredibly nice, and extra helpful in aiding selection choices for the night regarding food and wine pairings. The food was fabulous. Cemetery unexpected for what I had assumed was just a bar with a tiny kitchen. The tortelli was beautiful in flavor with the light sage and pear, and the portobello salad was delicious. The goat cheese and toasted almonds really made it, aside from the sweet and tangy sauce. I would definitely go back.

Before the world crashed, this was one of our favorite UES places. You could find us there most every Friday night. Now they're open for outside dining, and I'm impressed with the precautions they are taking. I am the most paranoid person I know about this virus, and after I relaxed a bit I was comfortable being there. The tables are far enough apart. You order your drinks and food and pick up from the window, and Bruno stands comfortably back wearing his mask. One menu sitting on a table near the window with hand sanitizer right next to it. You get to be your own waiter and bus your own table, but you feel safe doing it. That said, one of the best Happy Hours in the neighborhood. Good $8 drinks and eats. And now the have pulled BBQ chicken!
