The staff was super nice and friendly. The food options were really great. The coffee options were awesome too and all savers are made in house 10 out of 10. Highly recommend. Also the vibes are great here & their plants are real. Real.

We came here for the coffee flights and we were not disappointed! We tried four different kinds and everything was great. We also got a couple pastries and they were also good. The place is small but has a really good vibe. The staff is friendly and it's really clean and eclectic. They have outdoor seating (and heating lamps) and they have book rental box so you can read while you enjoy your coffee. Super cute place. We will definitely be back.

Amazing coffee shop, definitely worth the visit if you’re visiting or passing though Ann Arbor. The design and set up is really cool but the real star is the coffee! The coffee is excellent, highly recommend the flights, they were delicious and reasonably priced. Typically, most coffee shops mess up the ratios of coffee to syrups for smaller portions (milk based coffee), that ruins the drink. These guys have perfected it, you can get any of their regular or seasonal latte flights. Also tried their espresso, they serve it with sparkling water, it was a flavorful shot. Go check them out!

Vertex was great! The baristas were kind and the coffee was good. I had a drip that was enjoyable, though it was what I'd consider above average pricing (4.00). Strangely, the cappuccino my wife had was similar price.

the staff was really friendly & we loved the coffee! would highly recommend the vanilla latte hot. the syrups are made in house, and the staff seems quite knowledgeable on their product which is always nice. they have a la maazocco machine, and they really know how to froth lattes well. would definitely return!

This is a boho little café with some greenery and indoor & outdoor seating options. My guest and I ordered the lemon bar latte and berry mocha and we each tried both. SO good, both of them were so flavorful and prepared beautifully with the colorful edible glitter latte art. The atmosphere is very small but nice for summertime. The service was super helpful and sweet as well. Definitely intend to return!

Cute little coffee shop! They have good coffee and a very small selection of pastries. Don’t come expecting to have breakfast, it will just be a light snack at most. Atmosphere is warm and cozy and the employees are very friendly. Would recommend coming by, prices are pretty low. They have merchandise and products for sale as well.

I literally go out of my way to walk here in between or before classes because I just love the coffee here. It's always SUPER good. The place is heavily filled most of the time and is not a place I would stay to do work though.

I have to say, there are so many good coffee spots in Ann Arbor. It is hard to choose what coffee spot you want to go to, but personally I love coming to vortex So in my opinion, they take care of their coffees. It's like their own baby. I take care of roast I like the ambience of like being it's community it's like what they do as a vision and how they approach it I've been a patron in the past when I'm in Ann Arbor I can choose from anything I can think of I can go from downtown to central campus and whatsoever but the thing is what strikes me is that they took over a shop that was called glass box. I think it's nice to have quality coffee and to serve the student body of Michigan . I don't go very often because I am not in the area so often no longer but when I'm in the area I think of coming to Vortexx . You're going to buy coffee and you just a coffee snob then this is the spot around central campus. There is many different spots but it depends on your pallet.

Ordered a large coffee and a large decaf breve latte. No one said anything about their coffee sizes and just made small sized beverages. Asked why I didn't get them in a size large and they went into what sounded like a scripted corporate drone rant about their standard sizes as if I was already aware that I have to ask for whatever they call their large coffee. Terrible service. All for a terrible tasting coffees. The quality of the cream and coffee were both dissapointing. The latte was watery and hardly tasted like coffee. They also did not know what a breve latte was. They do not know what they are doing and chasing customers away with their poor attitude. I don't even like starbucks but I would rather have gotten starbucks. Next time I'll just get coffee from Hyperion, First Bite, Roos Roast, or Zolas. Two stars because one person actually was kind.

Really good coffee! I got the vanilla latte, and it is one of the best in town. They're also very focused sustainability and serves with really nice coffee cups. They have few spots indoor but plenty outdoors.

I went to Vertex like three times a week last semester, and this place is one of my favorite cafes in Ann Arbor. I think their latte is best in town. Nice vibes and friendly staff. They have unique latte menus so I would definitely recommend trying coffee flights. I usually get a hot latte here. Wish they had larger size too! The only thing is that I've noticed the taste of coffee being a little inconsistent depending on which barista makes your coffee. Sometimes the coffee is incredibly great but sometimes lacking flavor.

What a local business gem! Vertex has consistently high quality drinks - I love their Cafe Miel and their rotating season drinks are always fun. Vertex really live into their values. They practice sustainability which includes compostable To-Go ware (which are compostable in the U of M compost program!) and reusable glasses in the coffee shop itself. They're inclusive and host fun community events (recently I've seen them do a garden club and a friend speed dating event). They have cute indoor and outdoor seating. Their staff is super friendly and I feel lucky to have them in the neighborhood.

One of the best coffee shops in AA! My latte was so smooth and creamy. Perfect amount of sweetness. The interior is so bright and beautiful with the all the greenery and plants. The also have a nice outdoor seating area which is really nice in the warmer weather.

Consider this my love letter to Vertex. Easily some of the best coffee in Ann Arbor! It's also very cute inside, and everyone who works there is so kind :) Today I literally wiped out and fell as I was leaving, and they remade my coffee for me. Shoutout to Amanda, my latte was one of the best I have ever had!!

I haven't been here for awhile and glad I was able to stop by this morning. Overall, solid vibes and space. There are so many plants and other decorations here that gives the coffee shop a lot of personality. I like that you have to show your proof of vaccination to be able to sit in - a place that cares about COVID is a win in my book. The cortado with oat milk was $3.40 (+ $0.50 up charge for oat milk) which is solid pricing for a double shot espresso. The initial taste upon each sip is fruity and juicy - very strong espresso which I like! However, there's not much after taste. Their espresso is made using their "Colombia" beans which is a light roast with apple, walnut, dark chocolate, and brown sugar notes. Personally, I couldn't really taste the dark chocolate. Just very fruity and juicy! The latte art was beautiful - very skilled barista since cortados are small! Overall, I like this place for their prices, vibes and decent cortado. I'm eyeing their black coffee and cafe miel the next time I stop by.

Coffee was wonderful. Very delicious. We got flights which were super fun and every drink was great! The problem was with the facilities. I went to use the restroom, there were flies in it. I finished my business and washed my hands--when I went to dry, there was some sort of reusable cloth towel system. It said to pull the towel down and dry hands. Only issue is--it had not been cleaned. I pulled it down and found something brown crusted to the towel. I can only imagine what this was. Absolutely disgusting. There were no paper towels and no air dryer. Again, coffee was amazing. But if the employees are drying their hands on this communal poop towel--I don't want to drink the coffee. Really ruined the experience for me.

I absolutely adore this place. One of the best coffee places in Ann Arbor for sure (I'm torn between Vertex and Comet!). The outdoor seating is super cute, and the indoor space is a great place to get work done; lots of natural light and wholesome café vibes!

Best coffee shop in Ann Arbor. I come here often for the excellent chai, great service, and happy atmosphere. I love their outdoor seating in the summer. Make sure to check out their fun events! I've gone to their Valentines Day celebration two years in a row!

Three cheers for Vertex! This was a nice little coffee shop with a fantastic atmosphere and creative options. My indecisive self loves any kind of flight so I can sample the menu, which is exactly what we did at Vertex. We ordered the standard coffee flight which included the espresso, drip coffee, and cold brew. These were a bit of a miss for me, I love coffee and appreciate strong, rich flavors but they just happened to all be very very strong with not so much flavor. A little added cream and sugar helped, but my goodness were they difficult to finish. They had potential but weren't for me, personally. The latte flight swooped in to save the day as they redeemed Vertex for me. We ordered the cafe miel, mocha, and honey lavender lattes. Each were fantastic with cafe miel being my favorite. Order whichever peaks your interest, but you can't go wrong with these choices and I highly recommend them. 3.5/5 for coffee. 5/5 for customer service. 5/5 for ambiance. Go for a morning or afternoon pick me up, it's a lovely little spot with board games and outdoor seating that's delicious in the summertime!

I haven't really found a coffee roaster I love in the Metro area. Some roast their coffee so it is way too acidic while others over-roast or roast the beans too unevenly. This place seems quite different though and the coffee I sampled here was very balanced and flavorful. I ended up getting some beans to take home and enjoyed them as well. Talk to the baristas if you need guidance - they are friendly and knowledgeable. Recommended. Note: the Cafe space is a little small and can get crowded quickly. I would be prepared to take your drink to go or have it outside in the patio area when the place is busy.

Came here for a flat white and they did not disappoint! The espresso was strong and had good flavor. Staff was nice and the outside area is scenic and comfortable on a cool day. Def on my list of good cafes!

Yes! Brightly lit. Cleanly designed. Sweet vinyl spinning. Barista magazines to read. Technically speaking, the place has great tools and knows how to use them. And on my visit, there were even two different types of beans available for espresso shots. That said, I somehow missed that fact when I placed my order. So I ended up with the Tanzania instead of the Mexico beans in my cortado. While I'm not sure I would have preferred the Mexican, it would have been a good conversation to have. But that's on me for not asking up front. My daughter got the hot chocolate, which came complete with its own well executed latte art, a complimentary marshmallow on the side, and a proper demitasse spoon. There are plugs all along the underside of the benches, which while hard, are festooned with pillows. Pastries look good, but I was there for the coffee. One hiccup was even though I was offered sparkling water to accompany my cortado, I was later told they were out. Sad trombone. Still, this is a great place, and I'm giving bonus points just for the offer. This is a place that's doing things right, and in a town with so many coffee shops, there are precious few that take things so seriously, and do it so well. This is the campus coffee shop that the University of Michigan deserves. I'm so glad I finally made it in for a morning coffee.

On a recent visit to Ann Arbor, we visited Vertex. OH, you should go. Here's why. It's clean, bright, and very enticing. There are tables with chairs, or benches (none of the seating was padded, if I remember right, so if you're going to be sitting for a while, bring your own cushion). The baristas are friendly, knowledgeable, and very kind. The menu is ON POINT. Look a little to the right of the menu, and you'll see the seasonal drinks. We got the rosemary one, and it was perfect for a cold, snowy day. The bathroom is any gender (nice!). ADORABLE PLANTS EVERYWHERE. Cons: The side door was closed, and there is a step up to get into the building. Also, that step is NOT marked with yellow paint, so our daughter almost fell. If i was in my wheelchair, I would not have been able to enter. Ann Arbor parking (not the problem of the coffee shop!) - we were lucky enough to find a metered spot right on the street (WOOT! Coffee gods were smiling at us). If you are with a group and laughing, it's easy to feel self-conscious about the noise level. I loved this coffee shop, and will definitely be back.

Fantastic local coffee shop! Only place I know of that you can have a flight of coffees/lattes. Their special seasonal lattes are always yummy. Often gets busy inside, but if you can find a spot it's a great place to work. Outside is also a great place to sit and chat. Definitely a social justice and eco concise place, I support them when I can (it's a little expensive).

Pretty cute coffee shop where Mighty Good used to be. I love the aesthetic and vibe here and I especially love the outside coffee patio. Perfect place to get some work done on a nice day. The coffee is pretty good too and staff is friendly. You can also buy reusable straws here or they provide them to use if you get a drink for here. Awesome spot!

Ann Arbor is bringing it's A game in coffee with this place. The latte flights are superb and the outdoor seating is at a Nice intersection. Grabbed a bag of their Colombian roast to enjoy at home.

I LOVE Vertex. It's my favorite coffee shop in Ann Arbor. Their chai is absolutely delicious! It's my go-to. They have great outdoor seating, as well as indoor. It is a very calm atmosphere to work to low chatter, meet up with friends, or just chill. The baristas are super friendly. I highly recommend.

This really was not one of my favorite coffee places in Ann Arbor and I don't think I'd go back anytime soon. The coffee wasn't bad and the price was about average for my usual order. But the inside felt cramped and a bit disheveled, and they didn't have the regular additions bar with sugar/cream that most coffee places do. If I go back, I'd have to go when the weather is warm and try sitting outside. I visited in the winter, but the outdoor seating looks like it would be really nice.

These guys have done an amazing job during COVID. Not only have they maintained consistent procedures but they're standard of quality has not slipped. The coffee is always great because the team cares. Bring your own clean up and they'll fill it!

My wife and I discovered Vertex coffee because they have a partnership with Bookbound Bookstore (our favorite local bookstore) and they're doing a book club where you get a book and coffee delivered. We got the Tanzania Peaberry. Holy cow, their coffee is amazing. BEST coffee I've had in awhile. We're excited to order more and try different flavors. If you like coffee and live in the area, definitely check out Vertex coffee!!

Fantastic coffee bar. Baristas and staff are friendly and knowledgeable. First time I went I ordered a cortado and it was perfect. Second day ordered a latte with an extra shot and it was again excellent. Great place!

I forget what type I got, but it was a cold coffee with vanilla and cream. The staff is so kind and patient, and also prioritizes to safety of the customers and staff. Also the coffee was kickass! So good. Will definitely be coming back and telling all my friends about Vertex. I also love the compostable cup I was given my coffee in :)

I got an iced latte here, which was excellent, and they have a beautiful, large outdoor patio with seating. Great for working or chatting! The one thing is they didn't seem to have that much in terms of baked goods or food, so just be ready for that.

Best cafe in Ann Arbor and competing to be the best roasters too for coffee enthusiasts. It's hard to find a good cafe who puts effort into their coffee but Vertex clearly does.

Ordered coffee online from them as businesses are closed due to the virus, they offered a discount as they were getting rid of the last of their beans and delivered it to me the very next day in a reusable jar. Very friendly and was satisfied with the quality of the beans and roast of the Ethiopian. Looking forward to visiting in person when the shutdown is lifted!

Nice atmosphere and tea selections. The staff is also friendly! However, probably not the best study spot if you need wifi. My friends and I went and although the wifi seems to be working, it never connected on our devices so we had to relocate after getting our tea/coffee. The first time it happened, the staff was aware that wifi was not working during that day; would've been nice if staff would let us know about the wifi issues before that. Would recommend for as a chill place to chat though.

Great coffee!!! I ordered a latte with almond milk and can probably say this is the best I've had in Ann Arbor. You can tell the coffee is premium. Only reason I'm giving 4 stars; the chai tea I ordered tasted off.
