Vertical Deli

This place is a hidden gem! Tasty food all around. Breakfast? Yep! Lunch sandwich? Oh yes! Desserts? You bet! Seriously if you are in the area or just passing through, this is a must for all food lovers! The staff is always friendly anytime I’ve ordered in or gone in to sit down. Food is fast but so good! And quality ingredients. I love the fact I don’t have to get a huge meal if I just need a bite to eat but also can get a full meal when needed! Vegan friendly if you didn’t already know 💚

I haven’t had a lot of Vegan food and after hearing a lot of good things about Vertical Diner, I wanted to give this place a try as it’s very close to my house. We ordered the Vertical Reuben and the SLC Cheesesteak, and I can’t really recommend either of them. The “corned beef” looked and tasted just like the “sliced steak” and while I’m not an expert with vegan food, I feel like the descriptions were a bit misleading. The bread to filling ratio was disproportioned where I feel like I was eating more bread than anything else, more so on the Reuben than the cheesesteak. The fillings on both sandwiches were lacking in salt a bit as well. The best thing about the meal were the fries that were cooked well. The staff were nice and the restaurant was well-kept, so that’s a plus! Not sure if it was just an off day, but probably won’t go back for the sandwiches.

This was my second visit in two weeks. I had the Reuben on my first visit. It was perfect. Just delicious. This time I had the Cubano. It was very good, but I would have preferred a softer and slightly sweeter bread. The sub roll was a bit dry and flavorless. If they changed to a Cuban bread done on a panini press the sandwich could be elevated to five stars. I love this place and I hope they do well. I will certainly be back!

Food was mid but the service was fast, I ordered the Katsu Chick'n sandwich. It was their standard Chick'n patty that vertical diner uses as well so not as crispy as you would think for katsu, mushy. The slaw and orange sauce were pretty bland & minimal amounts so I would pass and try something with more flavor. They were sold out of all the steak substitute options. I also ordered the tots, also bland. The vegan ranch here is not the same as vertical diner and not as good but I love vertical diner and would try something else next time. Lol not sure what is confusing. Food was bland service was good.

*Wow. I am extremely disappointed by the gaslighting from the manager/owner who responded. I changed my generous 3-star rating to a 1-star. They’re using my review as a means for “misinformation” and couldn’t easily pull up camera footage showing no one greeted us. Are you surprised that you’ve never seen that behavior as a manager/owner, or are you a manager/owner so no one acts that way when you’re around? This manager/owner chose gaslighting as their best approach for customer service. Also, “us” means more than one person. Read reviews carefully and stop being so defensive. Don’t demand people remove honest reviews, because you’ll never get that outcome. I’ll never recommend Vertical Deli or Vertical Diner ever again, nor will I go there anymore. If you can’t treat customers properly, it’s not up to me or my reviews to hide the truth and keep your bad business alive. You are liars, therefore I’ve attached my receipt to prove how much was paid because you want to say I was lying about that too. Being vegan and niche isn’t a crutch for you to treat customers like they don’t matter. Customers can go there themselves and see that the food portions are super small. My picture of the half sub was not pleasing to you? Well, I ate the other half in 2 bites before I remembered to take a photo. The length of the bun is 7 inches, but can you also disclose the width? I do recall comparing it to a hotdog bun for a reason. The company I mentioned is outdoing you because they don’t rip people off and have never handled my concerns in such a distasteful and unprofessional way. Their owner has heard my concerns in the past and addressed them with tact and empathy. If Vertical truly cared about the vegan community, this is not how they would treat vegan members of the community. The arrogance and lack of accountability is concerning from someone in a position of power over people and a business.* I was excited to try this spot out, but was disappointed by various things: 1. Customer service was lacking. No one greeted us when we approached the counter or said anything, they just stared. It was an odd “welcoming”. 2. The prices are good if you compare them to the prices at Vertical Diner. However, the size of my sandwich was small and more expensive compared to the vegan subs sold at a different vegan sandwich shop downtown. 3. Aside from the size of the sandwich being the size of a hotdog bun, the flavor was mediocre and the ingredients-to-bun ratio left much to be desired. 4. Service was slow and it wasn’t busy. Never go here. It has no potential to be better.

I am not vegan but wanted to try this place because it’s near my house. It was absolutely AMAZING! The gals working were so sweet and gave great suggestions. The pricing was so reasonable and large filling portions.

Great prices, big sandwich, good music, clean, what else do you want? The server was super nice and knowledgeable about the menu. They also recommended other plant based places nearby since we are in from out of town. Highly recommend the cheese steak. They understand you want a cheesy onion filled sandwich, no skimping.

This place is absolutely delicious! It’s one of the best plant-based restaurants in town. The staff is always so kind and helpful, making our experience truly enjoyable.
