From the very beginning, the host was very nice. We were seated outside on the patio for breakfast. The view is beautiful the heater was great. but the food for the buffet was just OK. It was not $26 worth per person for buffet at that price, it should’ve had more food different variety. The bacon was chewy. The pastries were very good. The muffins were good. There was no sugar or honey or cinnamon out, The staff is very good about bringing it promptly again. The staff was amazing.

Delicious food with great views. Relaxing atmosphere. Their menu is simple and uncomplicated. Came in for brunch with a group of coworkers. The service was excellent for a group of 10 people. Carafe coffee was on the table on arrival as well as glass water bottles. Mimosas were tasty and strong. We ordered an array of Eggs Benedict, Omelette, Avocado Toast and All American Breakfast. Portions were generous but not exaggerated. We had a great meeting. The place is not noisy at all and the music was soft and relaxing. The decor is inviting. Place is clean. Street parking 🅿️ or Valet parking with 2 hour validation while dining. We might have to come back soon. FYI there’s an 18% gratuity fee for large groups as well as a 6% surcharge to assist with increased employee wages so keep in mind that adds to your check.

Simply spectacular! Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Marine and David put the finishing touches on an unforgettable night for us with their attention to detail. Toni, our personal master chef for the evening has perfected the art of making mouth watering crusted dishes! Me and my husband dine out on a regular basis, have sampled countless cuisines, establishments and Vessel has definitely crack our top 5 list. Highly recommend a visit

Nootzy was so nice and accommodating! The charcuterie board was so yummy and wine hit the spot. We are staying here all weekend and we will definitely be back!!

A great place to celebrate birthdays! The food was excellent, definitely chef prepared, generous portion and fresh ingredients. I had the Lobster Carbonara and was surprised to have a lot of nice size lobster chunks. The pasta was perfectly cooked al dente and the sauce was just right for my taste buds. The Pork Chop was a nice portion, garnished well and fully satisfying. I enjoyed the view, atmosphere and the service. I can't leave without trying their dessert so I ordered the Tableside Affogato which completed this wonderful dining experience.

I recently visited a seafood restaurant that offered stunning views and a lovely ambience, making it a great spot for a special occasion. The waterfront scenery, combined with the stylish décor, created a serene and relaxing dining experience. While the prices were on the higher side, the quality of the food made it worthwhile. I highly recommend the scallop entrée – perfectly seared and bursting with flavor. If you're looking for a place with a great view and are willing to splurge a little, this restaurant is a fantastic choice.

Yelp
We had the opportunity to spend the weekend at the Kona Kai Resort in beautiful San Diego California. We chose the location because of its proximity to the water and local transportation. The resort is amazing and the Vessel Restaurant conveniently inside. The views are spectacular in and around the restaurant. The food, cocktails, and service were above average. We can't wait to return to Kona Kai and spend more time as this trip was truly memorable. Special thanks to bartender Nootzy who took great care of us while dining three nights there.

Yelp
Slow service today. Something was off in the kitchen. Food took way too long to come out, and it was bland. Pancakes were also undercooked. The outdoor cushions need cleaning. Can't beat the view.

Yelp
We stayed at the Kona Kai Resort for a little last minute getaway. Ended up eating here for breakfast because the other seafood places we wanted to try nearby were not open yet but we were hungry! Food and service are both decent, but not amazing. The price is quite expensive. They also add on a 5.5% surcharge automatically. Did enjoy being right by the water though. That's always a nice vibe.

Yelp
First off the view is incredible beautiful ocean views as you drive up then you see the incredible marina full of yachts. Secondly the service is one of the best I've seen. Everyone was attentive and friendly. Made the evening really special. I ordered the special of the evening which was a New York Steak. It was cooked perfect at mid-rare and incredibly flavorful and was trimmed up the best I've ever seen. As you can see it was big. The potatoes were tasty as was the veggies. This was tender and juicy and the grill added a nice flavor of fire very good cook. They gave us all free desserts I chose the key lime pie. Wow it did not disappoint. It was incredible. Tangy and creamy and raspberry cooly was sweet and tart. Great dessert. This place is great. A little spendy but you get what you pay for and from time to time it's worth paying for it. Four of us ate for under 300$ without tip.

Yelp
The parking situation is why I give 4 stars. We were told that there was no need to validate the parking ticket because there was no charge on Tuesday -- just push the button, tell the attendant we ate there, then they'd buzz us through. We pushed, no answer, then paid $10. Not great. Now on to something positive ... We sat down on the beautiful patio, after walking through the beautifully appointed restaurant. The waitstaff came immediately to take our drink orders. Upon his return we ordered our food. It came out quickly, hot, and plated perfectly. My smoked salmon eggs Benedict was excellently prepared and the muffin was so fresh, too. The artichoke, spinach, and feta omelette was really delicious. The huevos rancheros had crispy tortillas on the bottom, homemade refried black beans, eggs, and smoked salmon was the other chosen protein. Wowzer it was gorgeous and tasty. We will go back and you will too.

Yelp
We were really not expecting much from this place , since we just went there for the convenience of the location, but we were very surprised by the quality of the food. We went there for dinner and breakfast the next morning. Dinner was perfectly cooked, my fish and my husband's pork chop. They achieved tenderness without undercooking it. My fish was meaty, juicy and paired well with the sauce and mushroom. We were very pleased with our choices. Just don't get the salad: nothing wrong with it flavor wise, but really not worth the price. For breakfast the star of the show were the pancakes, so fluffy and the coconut really added an extra texture and flavor. Portions were big and we felt very satisfied after eating with the nice view of the marine. Service was also good. Attendants were always checking if everything was ok and people were friendly. Highly recommend The Vessel!

Yelp
This is a great restaurant with excellent food and great service! Prices are on point for a resort. I was here with a large group from work. We all sat at the bar area. The drinks were well crafted. I had a few La Moras this was an amazing drink with brandy tequila and ginger beer. My friends all ordered chiecken sandwiches and they were huge and tasted great. I ate earlier so I asked if they still had the Pretelzs which you can find on the happy hour menu. The Pretzel was huuuge!!! Wish they had honey mustard as a dipping sauce but oh well. The restaurant itself was very clean and inviting, probably one of the cleanest ive seen in a hotel restaurant. The only negatives, I was charged full price for the pretzel instead of the happy hour price. The early morning bartender couldn't make a mixed drink if his life depended on it. As soon as I ordered my new favorite drink La Mora I saw the bartender look at the menu to see what was in it. I should of just had him make me a mimosa. The drink was nothing like what was made by the previous bartender. I asked him if this was the same drink and he said yea. I showed him the photo and he took the drink back added something else to it and it was even worse. Lol. Photo shown below. Other than that it was a wonderful experience.

Yelp
The 4-star rating is heavily because of the marina view and the charred Octopus. This is the best Octopus I have ever had. I had this dish three different days in a row, it's that good. The restaurant seemed either to be short handed for staff, or the servers were just not attentive. Although on one day at lunch, the service was pretty good. We stayed at the resort, so this is an obvious decision for something to eat. I spoke to several people that were locals that come here often. Good fanfare. I would give this place another try and hopefully the service picks up and I can update the review to 5-stars. Cheers!

Great food, excellent service, million dollar view! Parking free also on the street. Bailey is our favorite server. 6% service fee added to your food check!

Yelp
* Herb-Roasted Jidori Chicken 2/5 * Bone in pork chop 2/5 * Clam chowder 4/5 * Fried calamari salad 4/5 -Herb-Roasted Jidori Chicken is nothing special. The bed of rice it's on was plain. -Bone in pork chop was nicely cooked and smoky. Nothing I'd go back for and not exciting enough to finish. -Clam chowder was the star of the night. Plenty of clams and nice and creamy and smooth. -Fried calamari salad my girlfriend really enjoyed. Lightly fried, and really fresh greens. Good size portion.

Yelp
It was my favorite place to be every morning while I stayed at the Kona Kai Resort. Not only was I greeted by the same hostess, but I had the same four people serving me and assisting, which just made my stay more welcoming. You have the option of sitting inside or outside on the patio, but I opted for the same seating each morning. Each morning, I had coffee, except for one day when I asked for tea instead, and the server was a bit thrown off, but he kindly adjusted to my request. Now let's talk about the food, mainly breakfast, but great food. MONDAY: I went big. I ordered a feta, spinach, and artichoke omelet with a side of fruit and chicken sausage. Let me tell you, I was not disappointed. I did not expect the portion sizes, but I enjoyed every bite. I appreciated the bite-size cuts of fruit. Sometimes, the larger fruits take up space in a fruit cup, and my serving of honeydew, pineapple, and cantaloupe was refreshingly perfect. I felt like it was cut for me daily. I did not expect 3 chicken sausages (and on another morning, I got 4!), but the chicken sausage was not salty and much healthier. The Omelet was great! I'd order it again if I didn't come in with a plan to try something different each day. The Artichoke added a salty flavoring to the Omelet already, so there is no need to add salt. Lastly, with my toast, I was served a guava jam. That's right, guava! Delicious! TUEDAY: Smoked Salmon Egg Benedict. Along with my coffee and fruit cup, this egg Benedict was topped with a perfectly poached egg that ran smoothly over that smoked salmon. The salmon was cut thin and well. The Hollandaise saw was fantastic. It was probably too much hollandaise for me, but that English muffin was nothing I ever had. It was good, but I only have the store-bought English muffins to compare that dish to. Highly recommend! WEDNESDAY: Creme Brulee Steel Oats. Nothing special. Just think of adding brown sugar to the top and burning it. Though it is one of the healthier options. I needed extra protein, so I ordered chicken sausage, and that's when I got 4. I recommend you be specific and reasonable about the number of sides you want. For example, 3 apple bacon or 2 chicken sausages. THURSDAY: Banana Bread French Toast. This one was my most disappointing breakfast, and it was my last day. I wanted something sweet, and though this French Toast dish came with syrup, berries, banana, and cornflakes, the bread was too dry. It was a large portion, again, but too dry. Dry enough to crumble like no one has ordered this for years, and suddenly, I come along, and the banana bread gets defrosted. DINNER: The Vessel Burger is a rich and savory burger. The boyfriend claimed it was too salty. The mediterranean platter was a good amount to share between two people. The Apricot Falafel was different, not dry, but nice sweetness. The Brussel sprouts was topped heavily with a vinaigrette and I took the rest home to eat with rice. Overall, the service was attentive, and the food is great. Just one disappointment on that Banana Toast French bread. I plan on ordering it next time in hopes of redeeming itself. Five stars for a positive experience and motivation to return.

Yelp
We arrived on a Friday afternoon with no reservations and were seated quickly. It was not busy at all. First of all, the views are stunning and the ambiance is relaxing. This is a great spot to enjoy the views, and the service is great. We ordered fish and chips and chips and guacamole. Everything was made fresh. For drinks we had the ka-aloooha, banana old fashioned and the basil orange lemonade. Personally, the ka-aloooha is way too sweet for me but the banana old fashioned was good. It was my birthday and they treated us with a cheesecake slice so that was thoughtful. I would recommend this spot for drinks and views.

Yelp
I made a reservation here for my friends birthday because I googled restaurant on the water and this had great reviews. I made sure to call ahead of time to instruct the hostess to tell our waitress, or at least write down that we are celebrating a birthday. Upon arriving, the hotel it was beautiful and the restaurant was even nicer. It was right off the water had great views, and the restaurant seemed spacious and was decorated nicely as well. Didn't too much look around as we were taken straight outside. But one thing I did notice and did not like was that there was like 125 kids in the restaurant some running and screaming as if it were a Chuck E. Cheese. Now I know I cannot control where people bring children but they should definitely have a policy to watch your kids Or give a crap about other patrons having to put up with that or get the hell out. That specific fact will deter me from going back if I'm being honest. It was about 8:30pm btw. Once we were sat, we were approached by our waitress who did in fact ask if we were celebrating anything special. Right as she asked, I saw the hostess walk up and I believe she was going to tell her we were celebrating a birthday, so that was not relayed to her ahead of time and we just ended up telling her so there's that. On the plus side we loved our waitress. Her name started with an M I can't recall what it was though. She was great, funny, attentive, and honest. My friend, whose birthday it was and myself are the only ones to order a drink I ordered an island vibe with vodka, watermelon, juice, and ginger beer. That thing tasted like there was no alcohol in it whatsoever, and tasted exactly like a juicy juice. I believe my friend ordered something off the menu because she likes gin and didn't see anything on the menu with it so the bartender made her something special... and that also tasted like a juice as well. But we didn't complain. We just didn't order any more drinks. For appetizers we ordered the Barata toast that came with prosciutto, arugula, a drizzle of hot honey. It was very tasty! The guy who collects dishes took our plate after he asked "are you done with this" and we said no but he still took it anyway for some reason lol. But our waitress brought us a whole other order so problem solved. I ordered the clam chowder. It was absolutely delicious, so good I would've ordered another bowl. We also split the kale Caesar salad which probably was my least fav of the night. I'm just gonna say it I regret not getting the burger I didn't order it because I don't like beef that much and the only other option they had was impossible meat. So I Declined and got the salmon. Now don't get me wrong. The salmon was delicious cooked perfectly. I don't either. But I took a bite of my friends burger and that thing was amazing. I instantly regretted not getting it with that impossible Patty if I ever did go back, I would get it and I am not the type to order burger at a restaurant. my birthday friend got the swordfish I believe she liked it because she ate it all. I think she let me taste it but I can't even remember it so there's that. My friend was offered a birthday dessert to which she only got a sorbet (I think it was açai) and it was great. In closing, I enjoyed the food and I think this place is cute if you just want to like meet a client for lunch or something or take your grandma here to eat during the day to see the great view of the boats and water. But I wouldn't recommend for a birthday dinner.

Yelp
4 starts for the food and location! Had a nice time here last week for an early dinner. Got to the restaurant around 4:45pm on a Sunday and were seated right away as it was pretty early and slow. Love the seasonal options they have. The portions are also decently sized which is nice if you plan to share a couple things like we did. It was strange at times, there was no music or ambient noise and both servers would disappear for periods of time which left no one on the floor. We wanted to order dessert but with our server being gone a lot, things were taking longer than expected for how slow it was. We've been here previously and had no real issues so we will definitely be back for another try. Definitely going to come back when they have live music!

Yelp
This restaurant is Kona Kai Resort's saving grace. My husband and littles stayed at the resort for two days and dined here for our anniversary dinner with kids in tote. Bailey was our server. He was excellent along with the rest of the staff. The food was superb and the staff was very attentive. Love that they served our kids first (most fine dining restaurants take the L on this). We had the poke tacos, truffle fries, caesar salad, sea bass, pork chop and creme brûlée. Kids split a burger, which was enormous and could easily feed an adult. It was plain, but seasoned very well (hubby and I had a taste) and the kids ate it up. Everything was amazing!

Yelp
Came here on a date with my husband to only get appetizers (the challenge date was appetizers, entree and dessert at three different restaurants) and really wish we had come here for more food! We got the Roasted Heirloom Carrots (with labneh, candied curry walnut, hot honey) asked to add chorizo on top! This is such a freaking amazing dish, I have no words! Carrots were perfectly roasted and the creamy labneh and sweet spicy honey with the salty chorizo.. I really wish this was on their menu as is. Ambience of the place was also amazing. We were seated outside with the water view. Our server was also great! She was super sweet and also really understanding of our date (didn't feel bad at all when we left after the appetizers because we told her what was happening ). She was super super fun and nice to talk to as well.

Yelp
The service was lacking went in for breakfast on a Wednesday and we ordered our food. I think the busser was the best of all service he brought us water took a little while for the coffee but we had a little coffee pot which was cute. It was nice we sat outside, he came and took our order. Food brought it out, asked if we needed anything else I asked for Cholula and ketchup he brought that promptly. The waiter I think came by and asked how everything was as soon as the food was dropped, so didn't have a chance to taste it Had he waited for two by check up he would've known that the potatoes were just old and cold. I don't mind paying $30 a plate for breakfast for Benedict but half of the plate was potatoes half the plate was crab Benedict and the salmon Benedict is what we got. The crab was better than the salmon. Both were good but the potatoes were horrible and inedible so they just sat there. Now normally I would not have a problem with that but the problem lies and I didn't get another check back and he kept passing me about four different times doing other things and not mind you there was only three other tables in the whole restaurant so he wasn't busy just wasn't attentive so for pain Close to $100 for breakfast. I think I want some attentive service. Yes, the view is nice. Yes the Benedict was decent but the potatoes being cold and having to get a maid took quite a while also but I don't think I return some money on groceries.

Yelp
Food was great but service was poor. Very slow to get food, only 3 customers in at the time, we were only a party of 5, and the waiter forgot who ordered what multiple times.

Yelp
As a longtime customer of Vessel over the last sixish years, my 3 Stars rating is an average of 40ish visits. We kept a boat at the marina and ate in the restaurant due to convenience. If this was solely based on the meal I had last night it'd be one star. Historically dinner has been hit or miss for the price, but their happy hour is solid and the drinks are good. Great view! But last night the service was so rough that we had to be entertained. From at least 5:30-6:30pm there was only one server covering quite a few tables. While we felt bad for him, we were also sitting a long time without being acknowledged for even a drink. Once ordering we had to keep asking for the missing items - for example, one drink would come but the rest were missing until we'd check on them. Or we had to ask twice for ketchup for fries but it took so long that the meal was done before it came out. We mostly blame the restaurant for understaffing but it was bad enough that I doubt we'll come back. (I hope they read this and consider appropriately staffing so they don't lose more business) Go for the view, but I'd recommend happy hour over dinner!

Yelp
Most expensive Mother's Day brunch ever -- 4 people, we walked out $480 after tip and surcharges. We thought we were going to a restaurant, but when we sat down they told us it was a special mothers day buffet. The buffet was very buffet, everything was mass prepared and bland, the french toast was rubbery, but it was what it was. At least the ambiance and the staff were great. Then the check came. You all should be a little more explicit with your prices. If we had known what we were getting for the price, we would have gone to Denny's.

Tracey G.

Yelp
Quite delicious food, expensive, and it takes a long time to get it -so you better go when you have time!! The lobster carbonara is delicious. The Vessel burger with the bacon jam is yummy.

Yelp
I recently attended a conference that was being held at the Kona Kai Resort and decided to have lunch in the hotel at the Vessel Restaurant. I came in on a weekday and the restaurant had very few diners with plenty of staff. One of the bartenders sat me in a cozy spot outside with a great view. She was friendly and pleasant, but the rest of the experience at the Vessel Restaurant was average, if even. Service was average to barely existent. My order was taken in a timely manner and the food did come out in a reasonable amount of time. However, my waitress checked in on me once in a very rushed fashion, dropped off the check quickly, never came to pick up the check, and then after I closed the tab with another staff member (sitting waiting for my waitress to come back for nearly 20 minutes), she came back to ask me to hurry and sign my check because she needed to clock out. The whole service experience was so bizarre since she wasn't waiting any other tables and I saw her inside just chatting with her coworkers. For the classiness and price point they are charging customers, I was disappointed with the quality of service I received. My order was simple: an order of Clam Chowder and an order of the Ahi Tuna Tacos. Though both items were tasty, they definitely were WAAAAYYYY overpriced especially when coupling it with the overall service experience. I understand the restaurant's location and it being the main dining option in the Kona Kai Resort which, probably "justifies" the high price point, but the taste and quantity just totally missed the mark. I wanted to love the Vessel Restaurant and don't mind paying the price if the experience, food, and service is worth it. Unfortunately, it just wasn't a win for me this time.

Yelp
The service was great! Everybody was so helpful and kind! The ambience was so relaxing and perfect for what we needed. The food was delicious and even better than expected! We loved this place!

Yelp
My partner and I stayed one evening in San Diego and decided to dine in here. Maybe we ordered the wrong things, but both of us were extremely disappointed in our meals. The ahi tuna tacos were tiny and not particularly interesting in flavor. Too much sauce and it was a bit overpowering. We also tries the masala, which was also pretty flavorless. The naan was cold and hard and the overall dish was pretty difficult to get through. Only reason I'm giving 2 stars was because the servers/waiters were really nice to us.

Yelp
Went with friends to celebrate friend's birthday. Restaurant located inside The Kona Kai resort. Window table overlooking the water but mostly a lot of boats, yachts. We had a charcuterie board, which I thought was ok. Wouldn't order again, as the cheddar cheese seemed to have been cut ahead and had bloom on it, I didn't care for one of the meat choices on it which was what looked like coppacola. It also took a long time before delivered to our table as did our cocktails. We arrived at 5pm and there was only one other group(with small children)having dinner. I ordered a lemon drop, which was very good, full to the top and my friend got a crafted cocktail which she enjoyed. They left us a bottle of water on the table which we had to ask for more refills twice, after emptying the bottle. After receiving the charcuterie( took forever) it wasn't too long before all our dinner orders arrived(too soon in my book after getting the charcuterie on the table as an appetizer). I had the clam chowder, which was excellent and I want to say probably the best I've ever had. Then I had the kale salad with a choice of protein, mine was salmon. The salmon was cooked perfectly and a very nice portion. The salad was plentiful, besides Kale there was thinly sliced apple, nuts, and parmesan cheese. Dressing was the perfect amount. My friends had the lobster pasta choice( it looked amazing) and my other friend had the chicken dinner choice, which she said was great. The friend celebrating her birthday got a free dessert, the chocolate espresso cake and I ordered the creme brûlée. Both very good. Sadly, I could not give our waiter a 20% tip. He was very nice but was not very attentive. Seemed to disappear for long periods of time. (FYI: a 6% increase was added to our bill( noted on receipt) due to recent law increasing employee wages). Bathrooms were down the walkway a ways from the restaurant, adjacent to the hotel check-in. Nice, clean, but automatic soap and water not working in two of the three sinks.

Yelp
Had a late lunch reservation for 8 on a Sunday. Servers were friendly and attentive but the kitchen was a bit slow. Portions were larger than expected, and a few of the dishes were a little over salted. Overall, the food was just okay. Parking was free at the hotel, just mention you dined at the restaurant.

Benjamin G.

Yelp
Great food and it's very pretty view of the marina. The clam chowder was great! Will definitely be coming back

Diane P.

Yelp
Awesome food and great customer service. The scallops were amazing. My husband got the filet it was amazing! The only comment problem I had was the eggs Benedict. I should have sent it back. The egg whites were not cooked and the potatoes on menu I don't believe mentioned rosemary. Not a Rosemary fan! The bartender was really great as well as our waitress! Restaurant was nice with awesome views!

Yelp
The location, view and some of the dishes looked great. We saw you had four stars and a few recent less than four star reviews. Against our good judgment we chose your Vessel Restaurant.  My husband and I drove down from Oceanside (about 40-45 minute drive). A few minutes after the rest of our party shows. We all walk to Vessel. We had reservations for 5:30pm. The hostess asked if we'd like to sit inside or out and we said outside if there are heaters. She said why don't I show you and you can decide. I thought it was slow there were maybe 2 couples inside, 1 person at the bar and 2 couples outside. We decided on the table right next to the opening of outside close to the pool. All the lights from buildings mirroring the water and the fire pits were all such a beautiful view.  As soon as we were seated she mentioned a server would be with us shortly. About 5 minutes later another couple came out and sat in the corner closer to the pool. About another 5 minutes past and a man in some jeans, a white shirt and apron came out with glasses and a glass water bottle to the couple that was just seated. We were all like ok. As he turned around he saw us and said we'll be right with you folks. Another 5 minutes passed (5:45pm) and he came with our water. We then started to ask about drinks and he said I will let your waitress answer that for you and he left. As he left Angel our server shows up (5:50). She tells us all about the drinks, so we order drinks and as she is about to leave we were like wait. She said yes would you also like to add an appetizer. I was like yes. I ordered clam chowder (it was delicious but why was my two bread pieces on top of look like the Thanksgiving menu), my son ordered the fries. The menu has less than 30 items on it for food/appetizer and dessert. Wasn't a huge selection at all. About 10 minutes later (6:00pm) the drinks came, (at the same time the couple who arrived after us meal was being delivered), then 5 minutes later (6:05pm) our appetizers came. At this time two other couples were placed outside and were attended to immediately. More people sat at the bar and a few more people were seated inside. As Angel and the gentleman with the Apron were helping others, we saw a few employees bent over talking at the bar. I'm like did anyone want to take our dinner order. My son gets easily annoyed. I'm trying to give y'all benefit of the doubt. It's not that busy, you seem to have enough staff and we were here before a lot of people. Let me just say, this restaurant is not cheap. Around 6:10pm Angel took our order. We all ordered salmon. My husband and I order the Kale/Cesar salad and added salmon. My son and his girlfriend ordered salmon with potatoes underneath. Around 6:30pm, we had to stop Angel and she looked at our table shocked and said I'm sorry about the wait let me check on your food. I looked at my son and said if any of these tables get their food before us we are leaving. Two minutes later our food shows up. My husband said the salmon had no seasonings and he just couldn't finish it. Our son and his girlfriend said their potatoes were cool not hot and so was the salmon. They were like let's just eat and go plus not a single worker was in sight to send it back. By time Angel came back it was 7:10pm. She asked how's everything over here and we were like 2 boxes and the check please. About 7:20pm the boxes and the bill come. My husband told my son let's do 50/50 I don't want you to be stuck with a big bill for both bad service and bad food. Our half was $109. I told my husband to leave a $20 tip. As we left I saw your business card and was like I will write Ms. Andrea and let her know about our experience and will also Yelp my experience. Your hotel is beautiful, the restaurant and view are beautiful, the price is high but if the service and food matched I wouldn't have minded paying such a high bill and probably would've ordered more. My taste buds and wallet would've been more impressed with the service and food from Dennys. Super disappointed.  If you all were short staffed, that should have been mentioned and we could have ordered everything at once. As beautiful as this place is, the food and service should match.  You're better off driving to the hotel, parking on the street (for free) and walking down to the water and bonfire area to enjoy the views and take pictures and then go eat elsewhere.

Yelp
Menu isn't anything to brag about. The chicken was my favorite, better than the steak. Came with the family after a day at the waterpark and we were staying at the resort. The host was welcoming. The server was friendly but not very good, he forgot everything and didn't check anything before it came out. The view and atmosphere was the best. Better food options and taste and much better servers would make this place at least 3-stars, have 2 for now!

Yelp
It's my fourth time here. It's one of my favorite places in SD. The food is always delicious, the view is magnificent, and the staff is on point!! I enjoy everything about this place and one thing to mention, it's dog friendly!!

Yelp
Weve been to SHELTER ISLAND before and while we were in the boat we kept seing this restaurant and it looks interesting, but we didn't have a chance to stop by. On our 3rd visit we finally got a chance to try this place called "VESSEL RESTAURANT ", it's the place that we had been seing from the boat when we passed by the area . It's a nice one, the moment that we walked in, we saw that there was a Bar in the Center. We were seated indoors, but the weather was so nice and not too Hot at all, so I chose the outdoor seating. Our server came so quick and wow, she is so full of Energy, her name is MARIN, she is very entertaining. For our Food, we got: *PORK CHOP *HALF CHICKEN *POZOLE MUSSELS *VESSEL BURGER *ISLAND VIBES drinks My drink was okay. The Mussels that I ordered were small in size, it came with grilled sourdough bread which was so good to dip in the Mussels soup, I just wish that it came with more grilled sourdough bread. My Husband's Chicken was tender and tasted just okay, not bad at all. The Burgers and Fries were good. The PORK CHOP was the WINNER among what we ordered! My son's PORK CHOP was so THICK and JUICY, it was so YUMMY! I kept grabbing some from my son's plate. The price here is just right for the serving portions. We will be back here again, next time I'm gonna order that PorkChop for myself :)

Yelp
First time here while hanging out on the boat wit the in-laws. The food was delicious and well made. I had the flat iron steak and even though it was delicious it was cooked a little bit more than medium and was more medium well. In addition to the steak, we had the ahi tacos, the noble garden salad, linguine bolognese, spaetzle, key lime pie, chocolate ganache, and crème brûlée and a plethora of drinks. We will for sure be back at some point!

Yelp
The service was great and the esthetic of the place overall was very chill. The food was not very good. We had the mussels; lobster carbonada and they were very salty which made it hard to appreciate any flavors that might have been there.

Yelp
I came here for my 1 year anniversary and I have to say, I wasn't too thrilled with the service. The ambiance was good however. From sitting down to getting our meals it took over an hour. Getting drinks at first took 20-30min but once I asked how long for my second drink, I got it really quick. I ordered a steak between rare and medium rare and got more of a medium rare done. Wasn't bloody enough for what I asked for. I had to ask for ketchup multiple times and it took a long time at first. This was for my fries as an appetizer. The finger potatoes weren't fully cooked either but I won't lie, the steak did have bomb flavor! Also while looking around, I saw the manager on her phone multiple times in front of the guest. Not professional at all. I don't know her name but it was on 06/09/23 during the night shift that all this happened. Oh and if you don't like fish, this may not be the place for you. Us non-fish eaters are reduced to only three-four non-fish menu. Oh and don't forget the extra fee that I didn't approve of. The "surcharge fee" of $8.00 for two dinners! I give this place a two star only because of the ambiance and the taste of the food! I even canceled my future reservation because of how unsatisfying this place was.

Yelp
The food was decent, some meats were just too dry. Pork chop was a little over cooked. The bolognese was good. Perfect amount of cheese and meat and pasta. Not too creamy like an Alfredo. I'd have to say... we ordered two salads and it was amazing! Have to try their salads. Although I'm not really a dressing kind of person. I prefer mine on the side. Sea bass was a little small but love the crispy skin. Kids meals were excellent. I'd want a grilled cheese sandwich myself! Good portion for small kids. Got one alcohol drink and it was a little bit light on the alcohol. It's not too much. I prefer that sometimes so I can still enjoy my meal. But the service is amazing! These servers are so helpful and friendly. I just want to come back just for the service. They make you feel so welcome. We brought our kids and they were also kid friendly. I've never been to a fancy restaurant where kids were treated with so much respect. It was so fun for them as well.

Yelp
Really... the third star is only because of the atmosphere... which was good. They want to be a higher end restaurant/bar. Their prices reflex that and their table setting, and general service delivery also shows promise. However the food is not up to par! The recommendation to them is to source better quality and have someone who knows how to cook. Honestly, it wouldn't take that much, add a little effort to the food prep and you might make up for the quality of the sourced material. So.. go for the atmosphere.. have good service and expect to pay higher prices for inferior food preparation.

Yelp
We stayed at Kona Kai which is why we chose to dine here. Before coming, I read reviews that complained about cold food, entrees coming before appetizers, slow bar service, and slow service overall. While we personally only experienced long wait times for drinks and drawn out service, I did watch a table next to us send back their food for being cold, and a different table receive their entrees before their appetizers. Their server didn't notice which was a tad concerning. Even though our service was on the slower side, it gave us plenty of time to enjoy the bottle of champagne we ordered and the beautiful sunset. I had the bolognese, which was pretty dry. The shredded meat was different, but it was the soul deliverer of flavor to the dish. Everything else was alright. The dessert was the best thing we had all night. Maybe brunch is better! P.S. if you were wondering how long the service actually takes, we have been here for 2 hours and are still awaiting our check.

Yelp
The ambience, service, and drinks were all perfect. I was tempted to give 4 stars because of some small errors in the food but I feel like it was probably just an off day for the kitchen staff, as everything else was awesome. We ordered the arugula salad and the fried mushrooms to start, and it was great except the mushrooms seriously lacked flavor. The peppers helped alongside the chili flakes but the breading was still pretty bland. We ordered the short rib bolognese and a medium steak and the flavor of the bolognese was AMAZING but there was absolutely no short rib in it. The steak and potatoes and chimmichuri were delicious but the steak was definitely over cooked. If it was inedible I would've sent it back, but the chimmichuri saved the day. Our waitress was Angel and she was great, as was the busser who joked about boats with us. Overall still a lovely resort, beautiful restaurant, and great service.

Yelp
This place has the best interior and exterior for dining. The staff are friendly however the menu just isn't there. Not many full plate options. Their $18 salad advertised "Almonds" was just that! ( 2 whole Almonds) !!! Mostly romaine nothing substantial. Their $18 ahi tuna tacos were smaller than any street taco ever invented. However their mussels were good and enjoyed them My wife and I met here and have been regulars for 18 years. Lastly our service was soooo SLOW Our server had every table all to herself So slow that.... The family next to us literally had their son get drinks from the bartender directly! She was nice though Place is beautiful but for God's sake get a nice menu.

Yelp
We had both breakfast & dinner at Vessel- Loved both! For dinner, we ordered the Porkchop and Linguini Bolognese+ a bottle of Kim Crawford Sauv Blanc. We were more than happy! We didn't have a reservation but we were seated almost immediately at a high top. They told us they were busy and our food might take a bit- the wait wasn't anything different than the average and our food was hot! Great ambiance! Amazing view! Breakfast was pretty typical- I'm a French toast fan so that was my jam. Again, food & service quick, friendly, fantastic! They did not have bottomless mimosas but our waiter was so cool- he had a mimosa right up for me as I finished one. For a Yacht Club/Resort- we were thoroughly impressed. We'll be back for sure!

Yelp
Decided to dine here because we were guests at the hotel. We sat outdoors and the view was beautiful by the marina. The waiter was friendly, although it e made reservations, we arrived 30 minutes early and they accommodated us.my daughter brought her dog with her and one of the busboys took great interest in her asking if she needed water! We enjoyed the ahi taco appetizer very fresh and tasty. The fried mushrooms snd jalapeño had too much breading and. It much flavor. For main course I ordered the sea bass. Was expecting better for $34 and although it was slightly undercooked and not much flavor. The spatzles were overcooked and dry.

Yelp
We had a group of 6 for a Bachelorette Party. We ordered drinks first and the server did not write any of our drinks down and ended up getting it wrong. When we told him some of our drinks were wrong, he had a face of disgust and unwillingly went back to have it re-made. He was extremely rude. My friend got the Neptune Benedict, her english muffin came completely soggy, and the crab had absolutely no flavor. The Crispy Benedict and California Benedict were good. I asked for the Hollandaise sauce on the side and it came soaked in it, but after the reaction from the server about the drinks, I didn't say anything. The coconut pancake size was great, but I didn't taste any coconut. The Nutella Waffle was underwhelming; it had a small dollop of nutella, definitely should have come with more. I believe when gratuity is automatically added in, the service goes down because they know they're getting their tip. If you come here, it's definitely for the views. They are beautiful. There is street parking or parking in lots.

i come to vessel specifically for the one vegan dish they have to offer which is the beluga lentil masala. this dish is super great, healthy, and packed with a lot flavor and is offered only during their dinner hours. service is always top notch here as well.

Yelp
We made reservations for a 9:45am breakfast. Street parking was easy. Street parking was available or the parking for the park is free. The park is about a 3 minute walk to the restaurant. We checked in and the lady advised that they are behind with food for about 40 mins. This is a surprise since it was a Saturday and most restaurants are ready for busy weekends. We opted to stay since we had time to spare. While waiting, it was obvious that most people were waiting for their food. Also, one of the bus boys told the receptionist that the kitchen is so backed up. It was loud enough for us to hear it. It gave a somewhat negative energy. Fortunately, they reserved an outside seat for us overlooking the harbor. We ordered the traditional american breakfast and the banana french toast. Our waitress was upbeat and very nice. Our orders came after 25 minutes which were pleasantly surprised since we were warned about the delay in the kitchen. Food was freshly cooked. Banana french toast was really good and they even removed the raisins upon our request. Overall, it was a very good experiene other than the older bus boy complaining. But the view and food made up for it. The views of this restaurant is perfect for a breakfast brunch. Definitely recommend getting a reservation to get the best seats.

Yelp
If you stay at the hotel your kind of stuck at eating here. They know this especially when they put a $450 hold on your credit card! The dinner was awful! Both me and my wife had to send our meals back. My burger was like a hockey puck when ordered medium. Wife had fish and chips and both times was burnt beyond eating! The French fries were ok nothing special. Clam chowder was good.. loved our server she was very sorry and tried to make it right but don't think the chef knows how to cook to be honest. So not her fault... Breakfast was better but did not rock our world for the price. I mean to spend over $100 on dinner and almost $100 on oatmeal with fruit cup, and an egg Benedict dish! It's kind of like really!?! Totally not worth it..
