The Best Road Trip-Worthy Restaurants Outside New Orleans | Eater New Orleans

"Husband-and-wife team James Beard nominee Alex Perry and chef Kumi Omori work their magic at Vestige, an intimate bistro in downtown Ocean Springs. The menu combines contemporary American cuisine with Japanese influences, delivering a farm- and Gulf-to-table experience, with just-caught seafood, wagyu steaks, and museum-quality composed plates of greens and vegetables. The duo’s outstanding five-course tasting menu is $105 per person, an experience that would easily be twice the price in the big city. Reservations are required. And go to the Walter Anderson Museum while you’re there." - Sarah Bisacca

The Best Restaurants Along Coastal Mississippi | Eater New Orleans

"Vestige is a romantic date night spot that combines contemporary American cuisine with Japanese influences, thanks to chef Alex Perry’s wife Kumi Omori’s inspiration. Expect a farm and Gulf to table multi-course chef’s tasting experience, with just-caught seafood, museum-quality composed plates of greens and vegetables, and proteins that might include perfectly cooked robata charcoal grilled wagyu beef and blistered miso “ora king” salmon. Special sushi rolls feature “Missisushi” rice from Two Brooks Rice in Sumner, MS. The prix fixe menu is $99 per person, an experience that would easily be twice the price in the big city. Chef Perry was named a 2023 James Beard Award Finalist for Best Chef South and Vestige is in the running for Outstanding Restaurant in 2024. Dinner is only served Tuesday through Saturday, so be sure to reserve." - Beth D’Addono

I was in the Gulf area of Mississippi for work on my 50th birthday, and I was fortunate enough to have friends who wanted to take me out to dinner. I had no real opinions where we went so when we went to Vestige let me tell you I was beyond surprised and impressed. I’ve had a lot of good meals this one was a great meal. It is a tasting menu that changes with the seasons so with it being spring in Mississippi it has three flavors. In my opinion many tasting menus can be a bit disjointed and not have a flow to the dishes. That was not the case in my meal at Vestige it started and each dish kept building and building with different flavors and textures. One friend had an allergy that required some of the dishes to be altered to support them. Vestige did that without any issues or problems. What is even more impressed we called for reservations 45 minutes before we ate and they were able to alter the dishes. That shows the level of skill and attention to detail in my opinion. I also want to call out the service as well. The two waiters did an amazing job they acted as a team and provided excellent service with just the right amount of touch without being heavy handed in any way. If you’re going to be in the Mississippi Gulf Coast I would highly suggest Vestige and I’d definitely recommend a bit more than 45 minutes notice, but if you can get in try it and enjoy it!

We were fortunate enough to grab a reservation for the Fantastic collab dinner w the dynamic duo of chefs Perry/Omori of Vestige OS and Chef Tyler of Mason! The amount of creatvity coming out of that kitchen last night was nothing short of incredible genius, delicious genius! We even got to meet Kumi Omori last night. Vestige is a true culinary experience. If you want to push your tastebuds to the edge this is the place. It will be an event you will never forget and you won’t be able to get enough. We are hooked. We are so fortunate to have Vestige in our backyard. No trips to Chicago for a culinary revolution or to New Orleans needed. Michelin Star restaurant quality! Top of the list for an amazing culinary experience.

Google
This was mine and my husband’s first experience at Vestige, and it exceeded all of our expectations! The atmosphere was intimate, wait staff were so kind and knowledgeable, drinks were great, and the food….. phenomenal! Our waiter, though I don't remember his name, was so nice and great at explaining each dish. We enjoyed every course! Setting a reservation was super easy, and we were even able to be seated 10-15 minutes prior to our reserved time. Halfway through our experience, we were already discussing when our next visit will be. Thank you to all of Vestige for the outstanding experience!

Enjoyable evening! Great from start to finish. Great atmosphere; friendly, attentive staff; every bite was delicious; cocktails were well-balanced and tasty. Will definitely return!

In the world of restaurant experiences there is dining, fine dining, and then there is Vestige. The Tasting Menu takes you through appetizers, entrees, BREADS 💖, and finally desserts, all of them taking your taste buds through a workout of textures and flavors. Nothing is rushed, which is what eating should be all about. The service is exquisite. Give yourself a treat and experience what Chefs Alex and Kumi have to offer.

Google
Thank you Vestige Team for an incredible night. What an awesome treat on my wife’s birthday. It was worth driving an hour & 20 minutes. Every course is covered with layer over layer of umami explosion. The menu is thoroughly well planned and the cocktails is unbelievably good. It’s really a DEAL for 6 course tasting menu at only $99. We will definitely come back to bring more ppl in the future. Mike and Angie were awesome! They made us feel very special. Favorite cocktail was the flower to flower

Google
Definitely one of a kind dining! The setting is unique and did not feel stuffy. The staff were personable and knowledgeable. Wide range of drinks. We love the Japanese influence. The first course was our favorite, the flavors were absolutely amazing. I also have to shoutout the grilled kabocha squash in the main dish, I am still dreaming about it! I was slightly disappointed in the dessert, as it was a little dry. But overall, this gem is a must try if you’re in the area!

Google
We had an incredible dining experience at Vestige! We enjoyed the tasting menu, and every course was creative, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The service was outstanding—attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. Each dish was a delightful journey, from the foie gras & buckwheat beignet to the yuzu & Louisiana strawberry bavarian. The chawanmushi was our favorite course we enjoyed the smoky flavor! The attention to detail and the balance of flavors were truly impressive. Highly recommend for a memorable culinary experience in a relaxed yet refined atmosphere.

Yelp
https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1DqgtggLMJ/?mibextid=wwXIfr VESTIGE. The restaurant, in Ocean Springs, Mississippi is small and intimate. Maybe 30 seats. This is almost certainly the very best restaurant on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The tasting menu only food is unique, beautiful, beautifully presented, and delicious. We were absolutely thrilled with the entire experience. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough to justify the wonderful experience of dining here. The chef, Alex Perry, is a genius in the kitchen. The tasting menu varies according to what locally produced ingredients are then available. This is the best dining experience we've ever enjoyed. I would give Vestige 6 stars if that were an option.

Yelp
This was my first prix fixe fine dining tasting menu I've ever participated in and let me say, it did not disappoint. Chef Perry had my taste buds impressed all night with every dish. Presentation was next level. Ambiance was personal & romantic. Our waitress did a fantastic job pairing wines with what we were consuming at the moment. This was an astonishing dining experience and would love to come back soon because the complexity of flavors in these dishes were 1 of a kind unique. I would highly recommend!

Yelp
This is such a wonderful place for any special occasion. The food is so unique and delicious no matter what is on the menu and the staff is delightful. Amazing food but no fussy vibes.

Yelp
By gulf coast standards, vestige is in a class of its own. It is a very laid back environment even for its fine dining menu. Very friendly and attentive staff. Having lived on the coast before, I can safely say that this menu isn't for everyone so make sure you read the menu first! By national standards, having eaten at several Michelin star restaurants including a few 3 star restaurants, it's not to that level... yet!

Yelp
My husband and I enjoyed a dinner here to celebrate our anniversary. Everything was absolutely incredible. The restaurant is in a small adorable house in the main Ocean Springs area. We enjoyed many courses in both had a cocktail and a glass of wine. This is the perfect restaurant for a celebration or special vacation. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This restaurant opens available reservations 42 days in advance. We placed the date on our calendar when we wanted to log in and reserve a table for the desired date, as we know they fill up quickly. The morning we were able to book, I logged on and there were 3 times left for our desired date of April 12th. I selected one of the times, acknowledged that we would be charged the per person rate of $105, and was excited to have secured a spot for a birthday celebration. Weeks went by, and I randomly received a text stating that the restaurant now had a private event they would be hosting that evening and no longer could honor our reservation, but offered the 11th, the night before, for us to come. Being from out of town, this was not an option. Due to the nature and reputation this place has, it was very distasteful to not only be cancelled on once a better opportunity came along for the restaurant, but to be notified via text, which made it very clear the priorities of this establishment. We will not attempt to come back and we will continue to share our experience with others.

Yelp
This is my first 5 star review and I would give them 6 if I could. The depth of flavor with each dish they serve is truly outstanding. Each course is unique and delicious. The staff was great and very knowledgeable about each dish and what wine to pair with it, they were also fun to talk too. You could tell they really enjoyed their job. The actual restaurant is an old house and they only have about 9 tables in there so I would recommend getting a reservation. It's an old house and the inside feels very homey and comfortable. I would love to go back and try when they get a new menu. I highly recommend this restaurant it was one of the best meals I've had.

Yelp
Took my son here as his birthday gift and request. Glad we went. Fantastic time with a delicious tasting menu. The waygu practically melted in my mouth. The different courses were unique and worthy of the James Beard recognition. The drinks were tasty and the service was nice. Loved the explanation of every course. Quaint restaurant. I loved the "home" feel of it and the decor. I was here years ago before they started the tasting menu (and I started reviewing restaurants) but I remember this location - beautiful.
google avatar

Yelp
One of the top 5 dining experiences I have ever had! Intimate setting with excellent food, service and drinks. The menu is creative and every dish is an experience. The waitstaff was knowledgeable and gave good descriptions and suggestions. I know a review mentions small servings- it's plenty of food! I can't wait to visit again.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing little gem in downtown Ocean Springs. The restaurant has one menu that is fixed (tasting menu). The small front of house staff is both knowledgeable and friendly. The food is of high quality and quite good, their Wagyu beef was the star of the show. I would recommend Vestige if you are looking for a dinning experience and not just another place to eat. The restaurant was also a runner up for "Best Restaurant in the South" from the James Beard foundation and that is quite something in the Culinary World.
google avatar

Jay K.

Yelp
Great experience all around - food top notch...every course was unique, packed with flavor but not overpowering. Waitstaff was on point - very knowledgeable, very attentive but again not overdoing it. High expectations for this restaurant and still managed to exceed them.
google avatar

Michael K.

Yelp
Yes, it is a tasting menu, but servings barely larger than an amuse bouche makes one thankful for the bread basket served in the middle of the tastings. No wonder, as one of the servers said "the bread is everybody's favorite". No coffee service for dessert and a"service fee" on the use of the credit card capped off an evening of feeling the $99 price per was not that great of a value. On the plus side, service, ambience and cocktails were excellent. And of course the tastings were inventive and flavors nuanced individually, but harmonious as a whole.

Yelp
This restaurant deserves a couple of Michelin stars. I know it's difficult with the availability of wines in Mississippi but the Michelin reviewers should take notice of this tiny gem in hip Ocean Springs, MS. We celebrated our 43rd wedding anniversary here last night and were star struck/in awe/speechless/grinning. The tasting menu was beyond our wildest dreams. See the menus I attached for more accurate descriptions. Mike was our most gracious host and seated us at the front table in the window overlooking Washington St. We started with a delicious glass of Gonc Canvas Pet-Nat, a sparkling dry Rose from Slovenia...out of this world. Our 1st course was 3 mini bites, 1. sushi of jumbo lump crab & smoked Trout roe, 2. tartlet of grilled mushrooms with a foie gras emulsion and 3. a sake-like beverage that was sweet and mellow. Our 2nd course was a creamy bavarian dish with tiny golden beets and sturgeon caviar. Unbelievable tastes floating on the tongue, so light and spectacular. Course 3 was accompanied by the most wonderful Chablis from France and was tilefish accented with delicate tomatoes. Then came the freshly baked bread course with a garlic butter and a sweet butter. With a glass of Cabernet from Paso Robles we savored the star of the dinner: Course #4, Wagyu beef with black truffles (OMG). The menu describes our dinner so much more eloquently but this is what I remembered. There was a dessert course, too, and every single course was divine. The chef came out to meet us, he was very kind and very young so I expect he will continue to achieve greatness in the world of food. We are so happy he chooses to do this in Mississippi. My advice is to go to Ocean Springs and dine at Vestige, at least once in your life.

Yelp
What a GEM! One of the best restaurants in Mississippi with 2 of the best chefs in the south, Vestige boasts decadent prix fix small courses bursting with local flavors. Their menu changes daily, but they will never serve a bad bite. The drink list is excellent. Make sure to make reservations in advance!

Yelp
Amazing! Evidently this restaurant has been in Ocean Springs about 8 years. A co-worker mentioned that he and his wife went here a few weeks ago and they highly suggested it. My husband and I decided to take the 30 minute drive from Pass Christian and we are so glad we did! The restaurant itself is a small one room restaurant with few to several tables. It was an Intimate setting, I wouldn't suggest taking a big group. The menu is a set tasting menu for the night. They have an extensive whiskey selection, cocktails, and beer list. Not that many wines by the glass to choose from, but enough. Every single tasting selection brought out was more amazing than the next. The food we were lucky to receive was truly a work of art. The wait staff was extremely attentive and described each dish as they were brought out. The staff even gave suggestions on the best way to enjoy each tasting, whether it was to pick up and eat like a cracker, or to use the spoon to scoop up the delectable sauce. It was truly a one of a kind experience and we can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Yelp
This was a top 5 restaurant experience for us. Excellent service. Menu was challenging in an exceptional way. The Wagyu ribeye was orders of magnitude better than the Ruth's Chris filet from the night before.
google avatar

Theresa W.

Yelp
Was visiting for business and decided to go to this restaurant based on other reviews. Was not disappointed and humbly surprised. I have been able to eat at many Michelin star restaurants and this is at that caliber. The tasting menu was on point with each dish showing off multiple techniques and layers of flavor. The presentation was great and amazing taste. Many of the dishes have Japanese flavors which adds to the flare! Only odd dish was the home made bread in the middle of the meal as a course but the 3 types were yummy so I can't complain too much. Next time I'm in Ocean Springs I definitely plan to visit again.
google avatar

Michaela B.

Yelp
Vestige was one of the best meals I've had in years. The tasting menu has a diversity of flavors and is filling but not too heavy. The shrimp dish and the main non- meat dish of morels were my personal favorites! I can't wait to go back to taste the menu in the near future
google avatar

Becky H.

Yelp
Excellent!!! Delicious and different food. They explain each flavor when they serve you. And you can actually taste each flavor . Highly recommend this as a special event night. Wish I could go once a week. The service is outstanding!! Have been many times an never had a bad experience.
google avatar

Michael H.

Yelp
Very impressive. Great service, great food but bring your gold credit card as it is expensive. It appears the only choice is a fixed price menu with five courses, but every course is memorable. We especially loved the appetizer. We were a little puzzled as to why a restaurant a stone's Throw from the gulf coast would serve Pacific fish, but everything was really good. Probably the best duck breast I have ever had. The bread is obviously house made. The dessert was exquisite. Very gourmet food that we could not even imagine crafting ourselves. An obvious five star restaurant! A must try if you are a foodie. Kudos!
google avatar

Dustin M.

Yelp
One of the very few restaurants in Ms offering a tasting menu with a talented chef. We thoroughly enjoyed each and every of the 5 courses. The time between each course was executed perfectly and the service was excellent! The atmosphere could use some upgrades but overall we were very satisfied and will absolutely return!
google avatar

P R.

Yelp
Made for a nice night out. The servers were attentive and every taster we had was delicious. Surprisingly we left full. The ambiance was nice but where my wife sat the street light kind of shined in on her. Would do again but it's kind of a bummer if you find something you like it might not be available the next time.
google avatar

Hope S.

Yelp
The absolute best " farm to table" restaurant on the coast. The high quality of service combined with an upscale atmosphere makes this restaurant top of my list for a date night. The food is nothing more than perfect! Each week the menu is constructed and presented from scratch. All items are in season and waiting to be devoured! One of the best dinner experiences you'll have.
google avatar

Tess P.

Yelp
This place never fails to impress!! The menu is insane! I joke around that this is a 5 star Michelin restaurant because it's THAT good! If you live within 60 miles of here, you MUST visit at least once! I made sure to reserve a table here for my birthday after dining here once before! The gold candle on the desert was a special touch(:
google avatar

Kim E.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem!! If you are a foodie, it is a must!! Every bite is as artful as amazing! The service is also first class!!
google avatar

Jeff N.

Yelp
Our friends invited us to come check out this restaurant. We had made reservations and sat fairly quick. It's nice and cozy, the service was very attentive & informative. Each course that came out, the server would let us know what and where it came from. Everything was delicious, I enjoyed the Wagyu the most. It's a little pricey for the amount of food but very enjoyable.
google avatar

Adrianna S.

Yelp
Looking at this place... you wouldn't peg it for a 5 star restaurant. But don't worry, it is all about the food. We enjoyed a 5 course meal fit for royalty. We were pleasantly surprised by exquisite attention to detail, the subtle but complicated flavors, and the presentation. The service was wonderful and i wish we could've talked to the chef. It was so amazing. They change the menu on a weekly basis so we're very excited to go again and see what the chef conjures up next. To start we chose our cocktails. Harriet in Okinawa was a rich dark sugary drink. I quite liked it. The sazerac was of course a classic but the absinthe was powerful! We sipped on these while they prepared our courses. First course was a small tartlet and last on my list of favorites. Not to say it was bad at allll but the other courses outshined this. (Also i had no idea how to eat this esp in a fine dining atmosphere haha) Second course was so lovely. The cucumber complimented the floral sauce so well and the fish was very nice. Really fresh tasting and nice for a light start. Third course was one of our top 3. (My bfs 2nd fav)The rockfish was cooked perfectly and paired with the tartness of the tomatoes and heart of palm it really made us wanting moreee. Ahhh the bread and butter. It was indeed like crack. And it made us google where to find such nice butter after we left. We got more cocktails: side car was fruity and light. The lost opera was multi leveled flavors that reminded us of smoked brisket with cherries. Fourth course was my personal favorite. The ribeye was cooked just how it should be. Medium rare. But paired with this exquisite combination of mushroom cream (jus) and truffle omg i died. Even the eggplant, which is usually not either of our favorite, was really nice. And finally the dessert, of course, was insane. (My bfs 1st fav and my 3rd) it was not too sweet which is always nice. It had a tartness we really enjoyed. The cake covered in the Bavarian was amazing and the peaches soaked in St Germain has me trying to concoct it at home. Everything flowed together and i wish we could've had 3. Overall it was such a fun experience. For a foodie like me I'm always curious what's in the recipe and it was nice to have everything listed right there and be able to place it in every course. Highlights were the pickled spruce on the steak: We thought that was so interesting. The butter... GOD it's that good. And the service was immaculate. The servers were professional with a touch of humor and a whole hearted passion for what they do. Chef, if you're reading this. Can you cater our wedding??? hahaha.
google avatar

Yelp
James Beard, I'm looking at you. This is the real deal and arguably the best restaurant currently in the region. Even New Orléans' finest and most innovative spots have nothing on Vestige at the moment. The other reviews say it all (except for the mis punctuated, incoherent one star), so I can just tell you to get here. Now.

Jennifer O.

Yelp
We came for a birthday. One person in our party is pregnant so I messaged the restaurant prior to our visit and they curated a safe tasting menu for her that did not lack in quality. The restaurant is small and cozy. Our waiters were both extremely knowledgeable and personable. The drinks were outstanding. The food was out of this world! We've done many tasting menus and, for me, this was one of the best. The ingredients were fresh. We will definitely come back!

Anne L.

Yelp
This is a gorgeous restaurant in the heart of downtown Ocean Springs. The decor is a blend of Japanese minimalism and a warm southern chic vibe. The homemade breads and butters are to die for, and the cocktails are beautiful to look at and delicious. The salads are fresh, flavorful produce with house made dressings that enhance and complement the crisp, bright veggies. I have enjoyed the hangar steak on several occasions, and my husband has tried a couple seafood dishes that he loved. Everything is always cooked to perfection and beautifully plated, and the service is impeccable. Dinner at Vestige should be viewed as an experience, not to be rushed. Highly recommend.

Yelp
We've been here a handful of times since living in Ocean Springs and I have to say this most recent experience a few days ago was very disappointing... SO much so, that I won't be returning ever. After covid, the restaurant switched to a set menu in which you don't get to chose ANY of your courses. Its very pricey, little under $90 a person -without alcohol, tax or gratuity. The portion size of the various courses are tiny, about the size of my pinky finger or smaller. Chef even considers one the courses bread and butter. This isn't the part that really disappointed me-- it was the fact that the food literally made me sick to my stomach for 2 days. I am a health coach, I eat very clean- mostly organic, plant based & some grass fed meats...so let's just say I'm in tune with my body & how it reacts to things. The food was very rich, like over the top rich and strange cuts of meat IMO. And I've learned that a few friends have had the same experience after eating here. I want my wknd back that I've spent in severe GI pain :(
google avatar

Megan G.

Yelp
Where to start, the absolutely incredible food, amazing service, or great atmosphere. The portion sizes are small but wow; some of the best food I've ever had. Every meal was absolutely delicious. The bread was even the best I've ever had. Our server was so nice and friendly and truly went above and beyond. And the place is adorable, small place with not much seating which is what I loved. If you're anywhere near the area, this is a must try. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Absolutely phenomenal. I dined here during Covid and thoroughly enjoyed the tasting menu that they offered. It is a small unassuming spot with simple and delicate yet comfortable decor. I informed the host of our party's egg allergy when making a reservation and they ensured that the entire meal was able to be enjoyed by everyone. Thankfully because of the tasting menu, the only decision I had to make all night was my drink which was still not any easy choice. My table thoroughly enjoyed their cocktails and were impressed with the beer and wine selection offered. Our waiter was professional and knowledgeable yet down to earth and easy going. I appreciate that Vestige finds the perfect balance between a fine dining establishment and a casual restaurant. The food and service and entire experience was close to that of a Michelin Star restaurant but it was comfortable and relaxing and casual enough that the table next to us had their baby with them. Compliments: Each element of the meal was ingenuously designed, expertly crafted, and executed to near perfection. This was by far the absolute best meal any of us had ever experienced on the coast (including New Orleans) and we are eager to return. Since it is farm to table, everything is locally sourced and the ingredients are only of the highest quality. I loved seeing some unique ingredients making multiple appearances throughout the meal (figs, miso, peach) which tied it all together. The theme of the meal was Japanese inspired, a cuisine which I am partial towards so that was a bonus for me! The pace of the meal was great and our waiter was somehow able to time our dishes perfectly while waiting on all 5 other tables, server as the host/front of house, and answer the phone. Critiques: I found a small crab shell in my dish....at least I know it's fresh! My husbands ribeye was cooked rare while mine was closer to medium. I just would've preferred a bit more consistency. And lastly I would've loved the chance to speak with our chef after the meal but he I only saw him stop by one table that night. Regardless of the minute detail critiques, this meal was phenomenal. I cannot recommend highly enough and look forward to retuning!
google avatar

Lori P.

Yelp
Literally the best meal we've ever eaten (and we've eaten a lot). Words cannot describe the taste and creative ingenuity of this meal. The service was equally superb. The collective team worked in perfect orchestra with one another. We never knew this fabulous experience was even on our bucket list.
google avatar

Nicki K.

Yelp
This was an experience. We had a phenomenal night experiencing the flavors Vestige had to offer. If we ever find ourselves back in Ocean Springs, we can't wait to experience the flavors the chef has in store. We did have a bad piece of Wagyu and weren't ever asked about how our experience was, but I don't think service is what they are known for.

Paul T.

Yelp
What I can't stand is when a restaurant posts high-end items and serves lackluster common local fare. No truffles, caviar or wagyu like posted on all their social media. Instead I received overpowering smoked salmon and dry local pork loin. $300 for two w 2 drinks. No thank you. People who gave it 5 stars should try to go anywhere else before they give a 5 star rating . Plating doesn't deserve 5 stars. Disappointed after driving 2 hours.
google avatar

Erinn C.

Yelp
I love. This. Place. surprises menus, complex layers of flavors. It's an experience. Five courses, selected by the chef. The first was a bite sized package - picked Sakura leaf, wrapped like a present- topped with roe, bundled inside was a sliced blueberry and foigras salty and fatty And a little tart. So interesting.
google avatar

Esther G.

Yelp
Vestige is worth all of the hype. Each of the 6 courses was a surprise explosion in your mouth. The menu changes based on what's seasonal, locally sourced and fresh. The service was wonderful, and the drink menu was well-curated. If you're looking for a magical culinary experience on the Gulf Coast, Vestige brings it. I'm confused about anything less than 5 stars.

Sara J.

Yelp
Amazing meal and service! It was my second trip to Ocean Springs and my second meal at Vestige! My friends and I loved the presentation, unique flavors and all around lovely dining experience!

Benjamin H.

Yelp
The food here is absolutely amazing. There's no other place like it in town and is always my first choice when I want to take my fiancé somewhere special. Menu is always different and the servers are very friendly. Atmosphere is simple and quaint with a nice view of the main stretch while seated. Would recommend to anyone. Can't say enough good things about vestige
google avatar

Connie M.

Yelp
Clearly the best fine dining experience in Ocean Springs! Cordon Bleu trained chef Alex Perry creates delicious farm to table dishes on a changing limited menu. Intimate dining room best for special occasions! Don't miss it!
google avatar

Jules I.

Yelp
Wow. What a wonderful experience. We had a four-course meal starting with melon and peach gazpacho. Second course of compacted melon salad and green goddess salad, all so tasty. Third was Grilled shrimp on farro with grilled fairytale eggplant. Finally scrumptious deserts. This restaurant is a great addition to the other fine restaurants in Ocean Springs and compares well to those in New Orleans and Charleston, SC.
google avatar

Natasha K.

Yelp
Very good food! Unfortunately, the servings were fairly small and the restaurant itself is not nicely decorated (or decorated at all for that matter). Our server was super friendly but everything took forever; we were sleepy by the end of our meal. Good food quality and menu options, which they apparently switch out often.
google avatar

Sonya V.

Yelp
No complaints here at all. I have gotten into the habit of actually driving a bit for a lunch experience versus just a meal - on occasion. This town is absolutely lovely and Vestige is worth the drive. The menu is many choices. My girls have loaded up 2x for the trip and have found that there is magic in the kitchen. Three ladies who are all excellent cooks and even better gobblers have found this is a very flexible kitchen. Absolutely lovely atmosphere. The staff was perfect each time. Jump in your car one pretty day, Pick up a few friends and have a lunch you will all remember.

Yelp
I have been a supporter of Vestige from the very beginning, even getting to attend their soft opening and special events. Let me tell you that this little treasure of Ocean Springs just gets better and better. From their normal menu nights to the special evenings of Japanese cuisine and other themed events, the attention to detail is impeccable. Their front and back of house teams work extremely hard to allow the guests a thoroughly enjoyable meal, each and every time. If there ever is any foible, you can rest assured that the staff is going to rectify the problem promptly because they truly care that your experience is the best it can possibly be. Each time I've dined at Vestige I feel I have experienced something new and exciting that I hadn't seen them do before. With the ever changing menu, Chef Alex gets more refined with each incarnation of the plates offered. I've had some of the most melt in your mouth scallops I've ever had, the most velvety chicken velouté, the most tender, fall off the bone duck confit. The choices are endless as what to praise. They are regulars of the local farmers market; which translates to the guest being able to always feel and taste the freshness of product. This parlays into the love and pride put into letting each ingredient shine to its greatest potential. If you haven't already, you really owe it to yourself to experience Vestige, the best restaurant in Ocean Springs.

Yelp
What a great little gem! The staff is super nice and knowledgable about the dishes AND where the food comes from. It's great eating at a place where even the waiter is excited about the food! The blue crab salad was chunks of awesome local blue crab and the sweet potato soup was silky delicious. Hubby and I both had the Panko breaded fish but he opted to have it on a bed of mashed potatoes instead on the blacked eyes peas and squash. The dessert was a cute mini mason jar of lemon custard. I'm so glad to have this farm-to-table restaurant here at home! Returned for a second visit! They were out of the chicken so substituted duck. Not a good choice. Lots of fat on a small duck breast. Not satisfying so I suggest sticking to the menu items! I tried the potato niocci which was very good. Wow! I got a reply on my review. Thank you for Vestige for taking the time to respond. What great customer service! :) We'll be back.

Yelp
Best restaurant on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, hands down! We've been eating at Vestige for four years and have always been blown away by the food and service. Chef Alex and his wife Kumi are a fantastic team and really complement each other's skills!

Yelp
The nicest restaurant we've been to on the coast. When we went for dinner, the menu was fixed and multi-course (you don't order, they just bring the courses out to you). The food was exceptional. I loved the tasting menu, and they pace it perfectly. Mixed drinks were very well-made. Staff is professional and courteous. We went for our anniversary. It's expensive (worth it), but we're going to drum up another excuse to go back soon!

Yelp
I was really impressed with Vestige after eating there for dinner tonight. Being from Ocean Springs, it was nice to see a restaurant like this - there isn't another like it in town. It reminds me of other places I have dined at in bigger cities and at restaurants I've been to of world-renowned chefs. So, it's really fantastic to have a place like this nearby. We decided to stick with water tonight (it's so hot out!) but had a number of small plates to start. The soup of the day was almost like a deconstructed gazpacho that was incredibly refreshing and full of different bites of flavor and herbs. Very good. We also got the scallops - perfectly cooked and delicious - and the crab and corn, which was impeccably seasoned. I loved the sweet corn a lot. Not to mention the fresh bread and citrus butter, which really are the best I've had at a restaurant anywhere. For the meal, I got the duck confit which was delightful with it's coffee glaze and I loved it being on top of grits. The garnishes of squash, dried fruit, and bacon went perfectly with the duck, and the crispy skin was to die for. My companions had the pork chop (which was a lot of meat, but amazingly cooked and perfect with a side of grits or potatoes if you need a starch) and more scallops and the salad with fresh ricotta and oranges. For sides, I'd definitely recommend the grits (perfectly creamy and you can tell they are stone ground) or the potatoes, which (admittedly) I was originally disappointed with. They look like cubed hash browns / (was wanting creamy mashed potatoes) but they are the best I've ever had and not at all greasy as you may think. Finally (as if there were room) we shared desserts. We went with the chocolate coffee cake and, although chocolate isn't my thing, it was really creamy and very well done. I enjoyed the whipped cream on the side and the smoky bacon caramel. I much preferred the Arnold Palmer dessert because I could not get enough of the lemon semifreddo - it was so light and fluffy and full of the flavor you'd get out of a custard without the feeling of a brick in your stomach. The earl grey cakes were also perfectly moist and tasty, with a "caramel" topping that was not overly sweet and still had flavor. Definitely would recommend it! Overall, it's a great place to save up for (as my mom said). The service was not exceptionally fast, but I don't expect that at a restaurant like this. The servers were both friendly and came by to check on us often and refill water. The restaurant itself is simple and beautiful, and although small, it never feels crowded. I'd recommend coming with a couple people on your first trip to sample a number of dishes, but from what I tasted and saw other tables get, I don't know that you can choose poorly.
