Brooklyn Bagels Bakery Opening at Ansley Mall, Sweetgreen Salads Opening at Ponce City Market and Lenox Square in Atlanta, and Vesuvio Italian Restaurant Opening in Kennesaw, Georgia | Eater Atlanta

"Owned by Massimo Andreozzi, a Naples-born chef who previously worked at Sotto Sotto and Fritti, this new Italian restaurant will offer wood-fired Neapolitan-style pizzas, salads, and paninis from a space on North Main Street in Kennesaw; it will seat just under 50 indoors plus about 20 on a front patio, with takeout and delivery available when it opens in December." - Beth McKibben

We ordered takeout and while the pizza was a little underwhelming, the Lasagna was AMAZING. Truly one of my favorite lasagna dishes I’ve ever had. My wife enjoyed her pizza it I thought the spicy pepperoni pizza was a little disappointing (and not at all spicy). The staff was very friendly and seem like a fun group when I went in to grab our pizzas. The pizza oven is also really cool (see pics). All in all, I give Vesuvius a very positive rating g because the ingredients definitely seemed fresh and everything homemade/from scratch.

My wife and I came here. On a Friday night, it was packed with a line outside. The inside is small, so there's not much seating. These the hostess, we're so busy. She seem to be bothered by s. I'm making a selection. The lasagna looks good, but not worth $17 To $20. Silly me, we're so hungry. Tried to eat it when it first came out, burned the roof of my mouth and the texture of the. Lasagna noodles were not there. It tasted like congealed cheese and meat. If I i just got the pizza, it would be five stars. Very authentic tasting dough- light and airy summery, sweet, crispy where it needs to be. You can tell they use real marzano tomatoes for the red sauce. I will be returning multiple times, but not for the lasagna.

Google
What is wrong with the cheese? I've never had a pizza like this. The consistency was slimy. It was weirdly translucent. It barely tasted of anything and what flavor was coming through was like something had started to turn. Stopped in for lunch, hungry, and I didn't even finish my first slice. I can count on one finger the amount of times that's happened. I've never not finished a first slice. There wasn't nearly enough pizza sauce to distract from the cheese. Did I come in right before close or something? What did I do to deserve quite possibly the worst pizza I've had? I'm never coming back. I'm telling all my friends to stay clear of it. And I'm telling all you, the Google maps community to be careful here. Clearly there's a chance you a terrible product.

Google
One of the best pizzas I've had in years. I have been to Italy several times and this place makes the best Neapolitan pizza. Incredible texture and the best prices.

Google
Lovely spot for a relaxing lunch! Cute patio area for outdoor seating. I had the Italiano sandwich.. It was delicious, fresh, and so flavorful and different than anything I have had. I loved it. The service was friendly as well. Can’t wait to come back and try the pizza!

Google
My wife and I each ordered a pizza. She ordered a build your own with mushroom and pepperoni. I ordered the Porcellina. Both were excellent!! The service was as fast as it gets when it comes to homemade pizza. It’s a quaint little restaurant with both indoor and outdoor dining. The reviews are spot on, and we will definitely return. In addition, the prices are great and they offer several wine options. The menu is more expansive than just pizza, with several Napoli recipes.

Google
The best pizza I’ve ever had in my 24 years on earth came in a shortly before close which I know as a cook is taboo but have been dying to try it out for a long time, chef was very nice and I loved the outside patio

Google
We were welcomed as we entered the restaurant. First plus. As we appeared to be first timers, we were given the lowdown on where the menus were (on the table) and how to order (place our order at the desk). Second plus. We ordered our pizzas and the employee actually listened to what we wanted. He asked questions to verify that our order would be prepared exactly like we asked. Third plus. Our pizzas arrived a short time later by a smiling server. Fourth plus. After my first bite of my pepperoni, fresh basil and sauce pizza, I immediately recognized the fresh tomato taste. The pizza was crispy, just like I ordered. Fifth plus. Great place for a fresh tasty pizza with great employees. Definitely will return. It is so refreshing to find a place that treats you like a valued customer with great tasting food.

Yelp
We had the margherita pizza and it was very authentic. Lite crust and well balanced and we added sliced Italian sausage for added flavors. Nice cozy seating area and just up the street from an amazing ice cream stop.

Yelp
Italy pizza was delish!!!! The place caters to carry out. Super busy. We dined in which was super loud, super busy, flies, paper plates and water in the center to help yourself. Price for Salad and a pizza was very reasonable. The salad had fresh parmesan thinly sliced and just the right about of dressing. The pizza dough was fresh and definitely home made. We ordered the Pompeii and we enjoyed the fresh mozzarella and basil! do wish there was more basil and a side of red sauce would Have made it 5 stars. We read about this place and came to try just the pizza. It was delicious might want to sit Outside in cooler weather. Inside was super Hot with the oven.

Yelp
Great pizza and a reasonable price. The atmosphere is not great; it's a little tight and noisy. As mentioned, the pizza really is quite good. It'd be nice if they used organic ingredients, but that is rare these days so no knock on them really. Service is friendly and prompt.

Yelp
I'll drop a five star on them. Stopped in on a mid week evening. Comfortable outside seating. Had a couple of decent beers, wine was nothing special but good enough. Margherita pizza was amazing. Crust was perfect and so flavorful, loved the basil on top. What was really amazing was the affordable price. I guess they can do this with no frills service and I am fine with that. Great value, great price.

Yelp
Delicious Neapolitan pizzas! + Ambiance is friendly small pizzeria in downtown Kennesaw. Vesuvio has a Napoli themed indoor DR and an outdoor patio. +++. Food is Neapolitan pies which were the 2nd best pizzas I've had around Atlanta metro. We tried Capricciosa and Bufalina and both were delicious! Their pizze are single or about 10-12" personal size. The dough was perfectly charred, soft and chewy and nothing was over salted. They actually serve buffalo cheese on Margarita called Bufalina (unlike the place that starts with A* mixes it with cheaper cheeses). Both pizzas were well executed with balanced toppings by a chef who knows Neapolitan pizze. ++. Price is reasonable in the teens and is a good quality to value. It is refreshing to find a solid alternative to those over priced Neapolitan pizza joints around Atlanta. There is an additional fee, a few % for credit-cards, however, VPN does NOT disclose this until after your card has been charged! They NEED to disclose it upfront rather than surprising their customers! +++. Service is cheerful, friendly and prompt. You need to order at the counter next to the entrance, pay and then they will deliver your pies to your table. ++. Parking is free in a shared lot. Food is 5* all the way but had to take1* star off for their card fee SurpriSe. Even so, VPN is definitely worthy of repeats :). Enjoy!

Yelp
Super good pizza! I came here twice. I ordered online and then later ate in store. Both experiences were wonderful and pizza absolutely delicious!

Yelp
Food: 2 Service:2 Ambiance:1 My hubby and I have been searching high and low for GOOD pizza! I'm not sure how we missed this awesome place in our own city!!! We ordered pizza and bruschetta! Both were delicious! I even ate the crust and that's saying something! We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Amazing Margherita pizza. Service was great and the food came out quick. Nice order at the counter spot that is perfect for a quick lunch.

Yelp
Cute little place that feels very coastal Italy. Can get a bit loud inside. The only weird thing is the television that shows not an aesthetic travel documentary of Naples but what looks like a GoPro on top of some tourist's head so that it kind of bounces and shows weirdly unattractive parts of the city. So random! But, the inside and outside are sooo cute and photogenic, and the patio is super quaint and inviting. This is a counter-service place. The pizzas are good coming out of that beautifully tiled pizza oven. Do not miss the burrata pizza!!!! Holy cow! Also, I'm honestly so picky about cannolis, but theirs are divine! They even let me pick up a dozen for a party I was hosting. We'll probably be regulars here!

Yelp
This was an unexpected gem !! What looks to be a family quiet diner filled up all tables around dinner time. We started with one order of pizza but ended up finishing two. It reminds me of pizzas from rome, Italy, more sauce , ingredients slide off (good thing!!) and was just so delicious. It's no frills, you order at the counter and they bring it to you. Parking spots around the restaurant and nice outdoor seating We will be back !

Yelp
We were travelling through Kennesaw and stopped at Vesuvio for dinner. We love Neapolitan-style pizza and were excited to give it a try. We ordered the Bruschetta Con Burrata, Caesar salad, Margherita pizza, and Capricciosa pizza. Everything was delicious. The Caesar salad was lightly dressed which I prefer but it did need a hit of salt and pepper. The bruschetta was amazing and although I really enjoyed both pizzas, the winner between the two for me was the Margherita. Service was excellent - everyone was so nice and helpful. It has a small dining room, but this made cozy and felt "family-style" which was nice. We struck up conversations with two different couples sitting nearby. Great atmosphere, service, and food.

Yelp
This is an amazing pizza restaurant. The place is impeccably clean and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. We've been to all the hyped up wood fired pizza places in Atlanta and Vesuvio is better than all of them. It's worth a drive if you're looking for a great pizza place!
google avatar

Debbie R.

Yelp
Order at the counter and take your wine to the table kind of place. Went there with family, including 4 adults and 2 kids. The pizza for one is huge! Caesar salad is to share. We liked our pizza but the salad lacked enough dressing. Price was reasonable.
google avatar

Yelp
Overall outstanding! Opted for the build your own pizza. Rose sauce, truffle oil garlic, cherry tomatoes, basil, and mushrooms....yum! Hot and ready in 10-15 minutes. Great service and in a super cute area! Go and get cha some!

Yelp
Definitely an unexpected surprise. I've went to a few pizza places in my area and this place blows it out the water. I don't want to get too deep into a review because I've only visited here one time but it was great enough for me to take my time and share about it. The pizza I tried was the tartufuta. A pizza with Smoked mozzarella, Taleggio cheese, speck (smoked prosciutto), and truffle oil. A delicious white pizza that was enhanced with the truffle oil and smoke prosciutto. I originally wanted to get the sandwich, Burrata Crudo Rucola & Tartufo Panuozzo, but for some reason it wasn't available so I tried something similar with the tartufuta. Overall, this place is pretty tasty and still not well known but with the near 5 star reviews and growing number of reviews, this place will soon be very busy.

Yelp
I have this habit of searching out the best pizza spot in any city I'm in. Was happy to land on this place. Pretty quick pickup order but man that was a great pizza. Last time I had pizza this good I was in NY. The pizza dough pretty much melts and the sauce is indescribably good. Only thing that sucks is that I live 1.5 hrs away from this place. Will try again the next time I get the chance.

Yelp
My wife and I decided to try Vesuvio Pizzeria Napoletana this evening for dinner. What we found was Margherita Pizza Paradise :) We ordered Rucola Salad - Arugula topped with shaved parmesan, cherry tomatoes, and a lemon dressing. Margherita Pizza - San Marzano tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, Parmesan, basil, and olive oil. We have tried Margherita Pizza's at about a dozen places in Atlanta including Campania in Milton, Varuni Napoli in midtown and Antico at Avalon and Vesuvio's Margherita Pizza is better than all of them or any other place we have tried in the metro Atlanta area. The tomatoes/sauce are absolutely a perfect blend of sweetness/saltiness and the crust was amazing as well , so light and airy with the slightest char and with just the right amount of crispness/firmness throughout! The Rucola salad was excellent as well and has a nice light lemony dressing and everything in the salad was very fresh Even though they were really busy we had our food really quick (probably about 6 to 7 minutes or so after ordering and the pizza was perfectly cooked! If you love Margherita Pizza you have to try Vesuvio Pizzeria Napoletana !

Yelp
My rating is due to a lack of gluten free options and the price point, so I'll admit upfront that it isn't a completely fair review. PIzza, pasta, bread, are not conducive to the celiac life, however some options would be nice; I had Buffalo Mozzarella with Parma Prosciutto and a salad as an option. I'm used to it, just wish I didn't need to be, which brings me to the price point. If I'm going to pay $16 for cheese and prosciutto, without the bread, I expect a lot more of it. Cute place, friendly people, and the pizza was well enjoyed by my companions, just not a place for gluten free.

Yelp
The pizza is excellent. You have to try the lasagna. The atmosphere is nice and the staff is incredible. We came during the Big Shanty Festival.

Yelp
By FARRRR the best pizza in Kennesaw. Excellent service - high quality food / ingredients Large variety of authentic pizza cooked in a 1,500 degree Firestone oven. Absolutely incredible place to eat. This is the only place we will be getting from now on. Enjoyed the environment as well. Great family place. The cannoli is incredible too, best I've ever had.

Yelp
Best Italian Pizzeria in Kennesaw hands down. This quant little establishment is tucked away in downtown Kennesaw, but is well worth the visit. Seating is available on the covered patio outside, or inside at a handful of tables with clear views to the traditional Italian wood fired pizza oven. Ordering is done at the front counter with food brought to the table afterwards. Drink options include a few delicious imported Italian teas as well as your basic sodas. The bruschetta is fantastic, with freshness of tomatoes and basil on perfectly toasted bread. The margarita pizza is a staple in our household, with us often trying to decide whether to order one or two so we don't have to share. Vesuvio's is a regular visit for us and highly recommended.

Yelp
Ordered carryout on the way to Blueridge, and was blown away! One of the best pizza I had around or in Atlanta. It was so good, we stopped on the way back home. Definitely a place to try out.
google avatar

Frederick D.

Yelp
Champagne comes from Champagne France; Tequila generally from Jalisco, Mexico, and a Neapolitan pizza is from Naples, Italy of course, unless you managed to get your license or came from Naples which is Vesuvio clearly managed. Over the course of two days I ordered three pizzas and a salad for myself and family. Each time I used the online ordering application which was fairly quick. By the time I got there the pizzas were done. The pies were like papa made them from Naples. Just lovely leopard print doughy dough and flavorful sauce, not too thick. I didn't stay to dine in but it looked like there was good seating inside or out. Staff were friendly. I would come again the next time I'm in Kennesaw.

Yelp
Enjoyed this first visit. Didn't realize they take reservations (it's very small inside, so reservations are a good idea). I got the Porcellina, minus salami. Wife got the Vegeteriana & liked. Plenty to bring home. It was a chilly night & the door opens & closes a lot so the pizza cooled quickly. The drink situation was a mixed bag: wine for $7 a glass - I've seen much worse; peach or lemon tea (no non-flavored options) for $3.50 - a bit high; sodas for $2/can. We chose to fill small cups from the big water container in center of restaurant. Give it a try. We'd probably go more if it was closer.
google avatar

Ernst Anton K.

Yelp
I got the Tartufata which was pretty tasty. Could have used more speck. The pizza would also pair well with peppers. But I did t see anything on the side. Lots of parking available for lunch on a Saturday. Might be because it's really close to Christmas. The style here is Napiletana. Think Antico style if you've eaten there. The pizzas come out quickly, because they are cooked in a special oven. So if you're looking for something quick and tasty, I'd recommend.
google avatar

Jimmy R.

Yelp
The small little place is very much a taste of Italy. When you walk in the door, you will order at the counter and be ready for the pizza to come out in minutes. Staff is very nice. The one thing the place could use is maybe a few draft beer options and a possible kids friendly option. Again, those would just be bonuses. The place is simple, great and we will be back for sure. Price points are very fair.
google avatar

Mark L.

Yelp
The bruschetta with burrata is fantastic, so fresh. Pizza was made with all fresh ingredients as well and was really tasty. We had the Margherita pizza. My wife would have liked a little more tang/acid to the tomato sauce but I liked it. Cute little place!
google avatar

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Absolutely worth the drive! Massimo uses all the right ingredients to make a fantastic pizza that tastes like ITALY! We cannot wait to go back and try more! Bravissimo Massimo! La tua pizza ha conquistato tutta la mia famiglia!
google avatar

Jonathan F.

Yelp
Place is fantastic! I ordered Calzone for my meal. My mom and wife ordered pizzas. Cheese pizza, and a mushroom and red pepper cheese pizza. All 3 of us finished our plates. Food was excellent. Service was excellent, and the chefs were very friendly and the restaurant is very nice. Love the wall art and the music tunes playing on the speakers. Place was great we will definitely be back. This place made our road trip fun in this area of Georgia.
google avatar

Yelp
Cute little place with great staff and an awesome atmosphere. Pizza was some of the best we've had. Definitely recommend this place. I'm glad we found it. It's a true gem!

Yelp
Arguably the best pizza I've had in the U.S. So I grew up in Europe in a country heavily influenced by Italian culture, almost every pizza restaurant had a wood fire brick oven so I'm pizza picky I've also been to Italy a several times, so I have high expectations. A friend lives in Kennesaw and we were craving pizza so we tried it out and oh my gosh am I glad we did. Inside you'll be greeted with a smile and a greeting by the owner/head shelf. I feel terrible for forgetting his name, but he's from Napoli. Along with the smile, there's several several other comforts of feeling right at home in an Italian/european pizzeria. There's an Italian soccer jersey hanging on the wall, there's Italian music playing in the background, you can see the wood fire brick oven and watch your pizza being made, all incredible touches. The pizza is to die for. It's everything you want from a neapolitan pizza, and quite literally from the hands of a Napoli native. I usually go for the margarita. In my opinion, if your sauce and mozzarella are both high quality, a margarita is all you need. And boy is this amazing. The sauce is well flavored, and blends perfectly with the fresh mozzarella. Don't quote me on this but I think I remember hearing they import a lot of their ingredients are imported, which makes sense. I have had their Diablo as well and it's also stellar (sorry forgot to photograph that one). They've got all the toppings you'd want, olive oil, oregano, salt & pepper, chili flakes, and Parmesan cheese. I've since moved out of state but any time I have a craving for Neapolitan style pizza, vesuvio is what I crave!

Yelp
Maximo is one of a kind pizzaolo and a great community man. His story is inspiring and his Italian roots run deep. Everytime I see him I always catch up with him, I haven't been back in a while, so I definitely need to come back for sure. The one thing I would like to see is a more expansive menu, I'm telling you, this guy's food is that phenomenal. Like we say in Italian, il cebo e delicio e non deludera.

Yelp
My daughter and I were meeting my oldest daughter half way between our two homes and were looking for a good place to eat. After scanning the menu we all decided to try Vesuvio and are so glad we did. We ordered the bruschetta, margarita pizza and the Diavola pizza. Everything was absolutely delicious!

Molly D.

Yelp
I've eaten here before and everything was good BUT tonight was quite the opposite! Service is a ZERO STAR!!!Upon arriving I was asked if I had a Togo order and when I said no she rudely asked what I wanted. I was In disbelief how horribly I was treated just because I walked In and wanted to eat there! Food is a 4 STAR and not a 5 because my food was not all that warm when it was served but it was tasty and authentic.
google avatar

Clout G.

Yelp
Real authentic pizza. The store was empty when I came in. I ordered at the front, and the man was shouting the order from the reception area back to the kitchen in Italian. Y'ardy know it's gonna be good. There is a giant fire brick oven. It's a charming little building and there's seating outside. They have different oils on the table that you can dip your pizza crust into. To add onto that, the ingredients are raw and natural. Instead of feeling bloated, tired and nauseous after eating, you feel light, energetic and satisfied.
google avatar

Jill B.

Yelp
Called to order a pickup pizza. The person answering the phone was not friendly when I was asking about thin and crispy pizza. She seemed annoyed and hurried. The pizza was nothing special.
google avatar

Dana M.

Yelp
Fantastic owner, staff and PIZZA. Tastes just like we are in Sicily. The best ingredients on a light crust baked in a brick oven. I will return here over and over.

Dominic P.

Yelp
food is incredible. best pizza I've had in Georgia. atmosphere and location is great. workers and owner are kind as well.

Justin G.

Yelp
LEGIT pizza! One of the nicest pizza ovens I've ever seen. Must check it out if you're around.

Yelp
We had a party of six for a 1pm lunch after my daughter's graduation. We found Vesuvio on Yelp and it looked promising. They have a lunch for two featuring a pizza, salad, and two drinks. It was absolutely amazing, and the owner was great. Someone in our party prodded him for something "special", and he brings out a Nutella pizza for dessert. It was absolutely great and we made a fabulous memory with our family.

Bud D.

Yelp
Great place. Authentic Italian pizza and salads! The service was also excellent. We will Make this one of our regular stops for pizza!

Jon R.

Yelp
Bess pizza in d hol town! We family buss it up! Big mon ting! Bring ya fadda ya mudda yea brudda

Michael H.

Yelp
Updating my review from a few weeks ago, where I was disappointed in the two pies I ordered. Lindsay, the owner, reached out and invited me to come back in, so I gave Vesuvio another chance tonight. I am happy to say my experience was very different. This time I ordered three pies - the Quattro Formaggi, the Pompeii, and the Tartufata. All three were very, very good - good crust, pizzas looked better, and had great flavor/seasoning. Lindsay, thank you for making this right, and we will definitely be back.

Alessandra S.

Yelp
This delightful, cozy, Kennesaw gem makes the very BEST Neapolitan pizza you could get! Take my word, I am from Italy and have had pizza right in Naples several times. This one is EXACTLY like the pizza you would eat there. We eat at Vesuvio every week. The burrata with prosciutto and truffle oil is superb! Massimo's creations are outstanding because HE IS THE REAL THING! He uses ONLY prime ingredients imported from Italy. He comes from that part of Italy where you speak with your hands, eat with your eyes and cook from your heart. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!

Tanya Q.

Yelp
Pizza is AMAZING! We are always on the look out for the perfect pizza and this is as close as it gets to perfection! And the prices are insane!!! Like in a good way, when's the last time you paid $11 for a real not frozen pizza. I'm so glad this place is in my hometown! It's gonna be our new regular spot
google avatar

Deborah S.

Yelp
Simple and Cozy Great crust and quality ingredients. Friendly customer service Delicious!
google avatar

Jeremy B.

Yelp
What can I say, except we were shocked to find this Italian pizza joint tucked away in downtown Kennesaw. I must say we enjoyed both of our margherita pizzas. We'll certainly be back for more.

Trey H.

Yelp
Really, really good food! Good value as well. The marherita was . New favorite pizza spot for sure. Very small so would be tricky dining in at busier times but service was super fast

Yelp
The pizzas and paninis are divine, their cannoli is hands down the best I've ever had. The place is also gorgeous, the service is amazing and people are always sweet
