5 Best Day Trips from Paris | Condé Nast Traveler

"Tours at the Veuve Clicquot headquarters spotlight the brand's history while also showing off the cellars, which are carved into ancient limestone quarries called crayères. Group tours are limited to 19 people and conclude with a tasting. Other options include a Madame Clicquot-themed tour of Reims (for up to eight people) and tasting workshops. The tour provides a good overview of the Champagne-making process while also evoking a fascinating backstory." - Mary Winston Nicklin, Lindsey Tramuta

Making Champagne: A Year in the Life of a Chef de Caves

"As Dominique Demarville, the 10th chef de caves at Veuve Clicquot, says, 'Working with the nature makes you down to earth.' Demarville’s Champagne-making journey began in the summer of 1985 when he first worked on a vineyard. From there he went on to learn the trade, from growing grapes to subsequently earning a wine-making diploma at the University of Burgundy, Dijon. Joining Veuve Clicquot in 2006 gave him the golden opportunity to apprentice with the best. He came into his own after three years under his predecessor, and has since taken charge of a prestigious Champagne cellar that is two centuries old." - The MICHELIN Guide

Very interesting tour! If you are a fan of their champagnes then you have to visit. Make sure you bring a jacket as it gets cold in the cellar and you are there the entire time (even for the tastings). Tasting pours are decent and you will learn a lot. The merch store at the end is also quite impressive!

Veuve Clicquot cafe and tour were unforgettable. We arrived early so that we could enjoy a bottle and some lunch before our tour of the cavern. Lunch was very tasty. I had the burner and my wife had the pasta. Our server was friendly and helpful. He was very knowledgeable of the menu and assisted us in selecting a bottle. A very comfortable lunch with a bottle of champagne at a very fair price. A great way to relax before touring the facility and learning about the Veuve Clicquot history and champagne.

The tour, gift shop and cafe were all absolutely fabulous.Learned so much in the 1 hour tour and thoroughly enjoyed the tasting down under ground - truly amazing. Gift shop best of the 4 other champagnerys we visited. Burger lunch was great as well. Highly recommend.

Very interesting tour of this UNESCO world heritage site. The mines are cold so wear a jacket. The champagne is excellent and the tour is very informative. Would recommend.

While it’s a bit of travel outside of Paris, I do highly recommend if you have the time to travel to Reims for the Veuve Clicquot’s champagne tasting and tour. The tour is about 30-45 minutes and then the tasting is about another 20 minutes. They offered 4 tastings and one being only produced and sold in France. The cellar does get cold so regardless of weather I would encourage you to take a light jacket or top to wear in the cellars. They also have a pretty cool gift shop and have an assortment of items! They also sell various bottles as well as their registered items. The tour itself was so interesting, i highly recommend!!

The Champagne tasting and cellar tour was great. The food was fantastic as well. It was a little rainy but cleared up later in the afternoon as we continued our champagne cave tours and tastings. This was our favorite though. Very informative.

Very interesting experience with view of the cellars, stories of Mme Clicquot and champagne tasting with accompaniments. Our host Daria was lovely and very engaging. Overall, the environment feels very corporate and a little less friendly than other champagne houses we visited.

Finally made it to my favorite Champagne Paradise — only took a couple of months of waiting and dreaming about bubbles. Fun twist: we booked everything in English, but it magically turned into French when we arrived. Surprise! 😹 Earlier, we popped into Taittinger, so by the time they started telling us (again, in French) how champagne is made, it all sounded delightfully familiar. But the story of Veuve Clicquot was another level — sad yet absolutely captivating. Overall, it was a 10/10 experience. Just a tip: bring a fur coat. It’s colder in those champagne caves 🥶.
