My husband and I were super excited to try this place and truly were expecting this meal to be a highlight of our honeymoon in Puglia. While the food was tasty, admittedly, we didn’t feel that the food, service or atmosphere is at the same caliber as some of the other Michelin Star restaurants we’ve had the opportunity to visit. Our server was kind and friendly but as the tasting menu progressed, the explanations of dishes became more shallow and concise. She wasn’t quite as attentive as we’re used to either (where servers are constantly refilling your water and/or wine), but frankly, I don’t think she had the time - there was an 8 top, and we were 1 of 3 two-tops, which can absolutely be a handful for 1 server and 1 server assistant.
As for the food - every dish we had was tasty, but there were a few items we could’ve done without, and weren’t blown away with the chefs creativity. First, there was sponge cake pieces added to two dishes, and both times they were flavorless and we couldn’t rationalize why it was added to the dishes since it did not benefit the texture either.
By far the most surprising and the largest disappointment was when a couple came in with their pet dog, set up an entire palette area for their pet, who proceeded to whine the entire time as we got to witness the woman feeding the dog from the table. We have two large dogs at home, absolutely love dogs, and do consider them a family member. However, a Michelin Star restaurant seems like an inappropriate venue to bring a pet. Not only did we find it unsanitary but it was also a nuisance and quite distracting throughout the entirety of the evening. One last point here - this was NOT a service dog.
While every Michelin Star restaurant is different with varying levels of service, we were pretty shocked with the overall quality of this experience.
