Austin Pizza Truck Via 313 Is Moving Rainey Street Truck | Eater Austin

"After being parked in the back of beer bar Craft Pride, I saw that the mega-popular pizzeria Via 313 moved its Rainey Street truck to the nearby bar The Alibi; its last day of service at Craft Pride was Sunday, March 14, and it will presumably resume service at Alibi very soon." - Nadia Chaudhury

Starting with the ambiance, the restaurant is very nice inside, but they have WAY too many lights. It is so bright. The bar is beautiful, although no gluten free beer option is offered. The gluten free Detroit style pizza here is the winner compared to competitors like dough counter and blue pan pizza. The crust is crispy but not overly crispy to where it cuts your mouth, and the inside is light and doughy with the perfect chew. Their pizza is not as thick/deep dish compared to the other restaurants which is what we loved about Via313. It doesn’t sit heavy in your stomach at all. You can do 1/2 and 1/2 of different types on one pie. Their menu doesn’t tell you when a pizza is red sauce based or a white pie which I think is a flaw to fix along with the lighting. The jalapeño poppa was deliciously spicy and lightly sweet with the hot honey drizzle. If you’re looking for a white base and like a bit of spice I recommend trying this one.

It’s great and it’s tasty but just beware the pictures on the website are a bit misleading. Wished I looked at reviews. Had to supplement the meal with leftovers. One pizza is good for 2 medium people that are kinda hungry. But really it’s personal sized pizzas. Added my hand for scale.

Stopped by this evening to check this place out again and I'm very glad I did! Pizza is decent, although the crust tastes a little odd compared to the first time I went here a few months ago. My server, Zachary, more than made up for the odd tasting crust! Very personable and I enjoyed chatting with him. I'll definitely be back! Looks like they have an excellent happy hour 👌

First and most important of all, which is a rarity in Denver, we were greeted with a welcoming smile. I am used to going to a restaurant in lakewood on wadsworth for detroit style pizza which was good but this is great! Especially the service is so much better. I love the marinara sauce and being from new york the gravy is most important to me than anything and they have exceeded expectations by far. Service was awesome. I have 2 of the children with me and they enjoyed all also especially the cinnimon baked sticks. Our servers name was Grace and we will be back very soon to see her. Highly recommend if you havent been here. Amazing happy hour prices and all the time Coors Banquet draft is $3.13. Full bar.

Google
New neighborhood gem. I’ve had trouble finding a good Detroit style pizza and these folks hit the mark. They even have Midwest favorites such Superman ice cream for dessert!!! Loved sitting up at the bar, having a nice glass of red wine, a small Detroit deep dish style pizza and hanging out. 5/5 will be back weekly. Awesome staff!!

We've been to the Wadsworth Via 313 location many times and always have fantastic service! Truly, the manager is fantastic at hiring. The pizzas are delicious. Well-cooked, flavorful sauce. I do think they could include more sauce (I even order "extra sauce" and it's still not enough!) but I understand this is a personal preference. The hub cap cookie desserts are a wonderful treat! Perfectly sized; not too much food. I always save room for one. I always prefer zero televisions in a restaurant (our society is way too saturated with screens), and my only feedback to Via would be to offer customers the option to sit in the front of the restaurant, away from the bar and excessive televisions. But this is so minor! 5/5, this is one of our "special treat" restaurants. We've also done takeout here and everything is always prepared correctly and on time.

Google
Just tried this place for the first time and it was incredible. Worth every penny. Possibly the best pizza I have ever had in my life. Alfonso was wonderful, welcoming, and attentive. Pizza, salad, and cinnamon sticks were all truly phenomenal. Will absolutely be coming back - we have a new favorite dinner spot! 11/10!

Yelp
I originally first came to Via 313 when they were having a social media event, before they actually opened about a year ago. One of my friends has quite a few followers on social media and invited me to tag along with her as her plus one! We had a great time and felt very well taken care of by the staff! I have since been back and am still a fan of Via 313! When I came recently with my family, we ordered the cheese bread to start and then got a large pizza that was half their Cadillac style and half of their bobo Brazil style. What I really love about Via 313 is the unique types of pizzas you can get here. The Cadillac specifically I have not had too many pizzas like it, it was so good! A big fan of the mix of sweet and savory and just getting to switch it up. I also really like it here because they offer both regular and Detroit style pizza! Their drinks are really good here too, so definitely take advantage of all that Via 313 has to offer! With dining with my kids, sometimes it is nice to be able to go to a sit down, table service restaurant while still it being just casual enough that it's not disruptive to bring my toddlers. Definitely one of my top pizza places in the area.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch today it was excellent got the herbivore with sausage, a cold beer and complimentary cinnamon sticks. They are a little addictive must admit. Planning to drop in for brunch and a good seasonal menu always. A little hidden gem as the location isn't obvious but it is a must do.

Yelp
Was excited for the prospect of yet another Detroit style pizza joint. After trying it, I'm sticking with Jet's Pizza. Nothing wrong with Via 313's concept, just that everything I tried had only two flavor profiles: salty or a flavor that doesn't fit. For example, the Broccoli and cauliflower drizzled with balsamic is just the wrong texture. I've had great Caesar salad with drizzled balsamic, that's over a whole grilled romaine lettuce, with the right crunch. Whereas the broccoli and cauliflower here were either blanched or steamed, it would be like drizzling balsamic on over-cooked stinky brussels sprouts, instead of fried brussels sprouts leaves which would be so much better. The meatball app was salty, paired with parmesan crisps which kicked my dad's blood pressure to another level, no wonder he was grumpy the whole meal. Now the house salad with candied almonds were good. The right taste and the right texture. Pizza has nice presentation. Their idea of using a frosting pipe for dollops of ricotta is ingenious, it just makes the whole thing more appetizing. But the marinara was too much, instead of what should be done (the sauce gets baked into the dough), it felt like they nuked a jar of sauce and just poured it over the baked pizza.... I'm sorry, I did not enjoy it.

Yelp
Recently had an opportunity to try Via 313 for some Detroit style pizza. This is our second experience with Detroit style in the Denver metro area. We ordered a large half classic Cheese and half rocket pizza. The wait staff was amazing, cannot say enough great things about our waiter. The inside is super fun vintage car classic themed from Detroit. The pizza was very good, came out hot and fresh. The classic Cheese was tasty with some good pizza sauce. I personally wish it had more sauce but the flavors were good. The pizza is a little thinner than other Detroit styles we've tried so we were able to eat most of the large pizza. The rocket was my partners side and they enjoyed the flavors in it. Overall a great experience, just not sure it takes the crown in the metro area.

Yelp
We tried Via 313 for the first time a couple of weeks ago. There is a full bar located in the restaurant, and we sat at a hightop. We know about Detroit-style pizzas, which is why we wound up at Via 313. The bartender was also our server. It seemed like they may have been short-staffed, but there were only four to eight customers in the restaurant at any given time. We placed our order and waited. And waited. And waited. Again, we know it usually takes 45 minutes to get a Detroit-style pizza. After an hour, I asked and she said ours was next. It took another 30 minutes. The pizza was decent, but not knock-your-socks-off. We'll probably go back to give it another shot. My guess is they burned it and had to make a new one, or they forgot.

Yelp
Must try new pizza place in the SW hood serving up Detroit style pizza and fun cocktails. We ordered the Omnivore and a GF Funkadelic. My celiac friend said this was one of if not the best GF pizza crusts she's had. The Omnivore was delicious as well, loved the Detroit crust and our teenagers devoured the whole thing in minutes. Customer service was fantastic and the manager even stopped by to check in. I do wish there were more specialty pizza options. Most are meat heavy. The vibe of this place really reminded me of Urbanfield in Longmont but with less variety and creativity. Also, not a fan of salads in metal bowls, but that's more of a sensory, metal on metal thing for me.

Yelp
It pains me to give this place 5 stars seeing as I'm a Chicago pizza guy, and this is Detroit Style. But hey, I can be open-minded. We tried this place for lunch with a coupon for one free small cheese pizza when we ordered another small pizza. The first problem is the sizing. We ordered a "small" salad. It was way bigger than small. Then we got their "small" pizza, which I would call medium. But whatever. The size didn't stop me from diggin' in. The "small" pizza was 8" x 10". Plenty for two people. It ordered it with red sauce, green peppers, and red onions. It also had chunks of Italian sausage, the way God intended pizza to me made. Not the popular ground sausage scattered evenly across the top of the pizza which we've seen at other pizza places around here. The Italian sausage was spicy, but a good spicy. Besides the bready goodness of the pizza, their Detroit Style pizza had a crust that wasn't doughy, bready or like some pizzas, crunchy like stale breadsticks. It had a light crispiness that was just enough to appreciate it was perfectly baked in a metal pan. But finding out that Detroit style is actually a pizza worth making the trip for wasn't the worst part of our visit. While we're sitting there minding our own business, the manager comes over to our table. Apparently our server told her it was our first time trying this place and the manager plops down a glass of pure addiction with two spoons and a straw! They call it a Boston Cooler and it's made with vanilla flavoring and Vernors Ginger Ale... on the house. Oh, MAN! That's. just. not. fair!

Yelp
The pizza is good and very filling, but a little pricey. The small can feed two people if you add an appetizer, salad, or aren't very hungry. I had the Cadillac pizza. The menu said it had gorgonzola on it, but I couldn't taste any. As a result, the pizza was sweet without a salty component to balance it out. Overall, I'll try it again but order something else.

Yelp
Unfortunately, just wasn't impressed. Was excited about the new pizza joint in the neighborhood but better off going to our fav spot- Homegrown. Super young waitstaff and the food was just okay. Don't see us coming back sadly

Yelp
We really loved trying a different style of pizza. It was crunchy and crispy on the edges, and cheesy soft in the middle, with plenty of toppings! Our server was very attentive and friendly. We got three pizzas, two large salads, and an appetizer of cheese bread. Highlights were the supreme pizza and the prosciutto with fig and we replaced Gorgonzola with ricotta. Both were delicious, but the prosciutto was my favorite. I also really enjoyed the arugula salad. It was simple but tasty with a brightness added from the orange zest. I wish the bar style pizza that we customized wasn't cooked as long. It was a bit too crunchy for me, but still had good flavor. Their Caesar salad was not good. It was heavy on the mayonnaise and lacked that sourness and tang that I love about Caesar dressing. Overall, I definitely recommend trying Detroit style pizza. Very yummy!

Yelp
We really wanted to love this place, but, we're left pretty disappointed. We came in on Memorial Day to a mess. Sounded like the servers and bartenders were left with an unorganized unprepared restaurant to deal with... not their fault - but definitely should have been better, especially for a holiday. Food was fine. Not great. Place was empty, slow, and music was loud. Maybe it was just a bad day - but it seems like there might be some management failures more than a server issue. Either way, food wasn't anything special, so we probably won't be back.

Yelp
I am usually a thin crust kinda girl but every once in a while I like something different. This pizza crust hits all the elements. Crispy, delicate but hearty, airy and flavor. We split a pizza and one of the amazing salads. Dog friendly so big time multiplier. Staff was great to our 3 dogs.

Yelp
I called in my order and picked it up on time. The restaurant was clean, but causal. The pizza and cinnamon sticks had to travel 30 minutes before eating. Warmed in the oven and ate. It was delicious especially the cinnamon sticks. Price did seem a little high.

Yelp
I love this place- I exclusively get the Cadillac w their delicious gluten free crust. Ordering it to be "double cut" helps out with the prosciutto not being impossible to bite without embarrassment. Today we had a Easter scratch off surprise and got the cinnamon sticks (which can also be ordered g free) and Oh My God-'worth the extra insulin I (as a type 1 diabetic) had to take. Fluffy goodness. Heather was our server today, and like all the other servers we've had there- so nice and friendly. It takes a little long to make the pizzas so realize it's not a super quick in and out meal. Oh- ps- they play Detroit rock music- (to go with the Detroit style pizza) I guess that's what it is- I can't stand it- but it's so bad, it's actually kind of funny.

Yelp
My husband and I came here for happy hour and it was a fabulous experience. Grant was an amazing bartender (if you're an old fashioned kinda person, get that!) and from the moment we walked in, the entire staff were friendly and super helpful. The ambiance was perfect with great lighting and features. There was plenty of seating indoors and for those perfect summer nights space to sit outside. Apps were amazing and we got pizza to go which was super tasty. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
I thought it was great. I like Detroit-style pizza and thought they did a very good job. I had the lunch special with a slice of cheese and a slice with two kinds of pepperoni. Both were great. Cheese pizza can sometimes be pretty boring, but the combination of cheeses they use is very flavorful. I also had a Caesar salad which was excellent -- nice and fresh with delicious dressing.

Gabriel M.

Yelp
The food here was absolutely phenomenal! It was a bit of a wait to get in, but once we were seated, we were treated very well, and the overall atmosphere was amazing! Our waiter was very kind, and even gave our table candy when we paid! Service was fast, and if you are looking for very good Detroit style pizza in the Littleton-Dakota Ridge area, I highly recommend coming here.

Yelp
This is the best pizza I've had in twenty years. The service was amazing, and now I'm wondering if I can invest... I can't oversell this place. Try it!

Yelp
Came to this place excited to try it. We waiting at the hostess stand for 20 mins with no acknowledgment. Place wasn't busy so not sure the hold up. Hoping they get their ducks in a row so we can check them out

Yelp
Tonight's experience at Via 313 left a bad taste in my mouth, literally. To preface this, I used to go to Via 313 back when they were a food truck in east Austin in 2013 and they were fantastic. I've witnessed their growth from a small food truck in east Austin, expanding to Rainey street, then opening up a brick and mortar shop. I was excited to see that they opened up shop here in Colorado. Tonight was my first time eating at the Littleton location after ordering takeout from there a few times. I ordered The Ambassador Bridge which I had eaten several times in the past and I am generally very familiar with ricotta cheese. I took one bite of the pizza and immediately tasted the spoiled ricotta cheese. My husband and dining comrades agreed that it was spoiled. When I brought it up, the manager insisted that it was how it was supposed to taste. The waiter was apologetic and offered to make us a different pizza, which we took up on. We were still charged for the full price of the pizza and not offered an apology from the manager. I was very disappointed by the poor customer service skills of the manager and I am saddened that Via 313 is no longer like it was in Austin.

Dave K.

Yelp
Just went here with the family, got a Detroit-style pizza and cheesy bread, both were excellent. Probably one of my new favorites pizzerias. They played some punk rock over the speaker system which might not be for everyone, but it was definitely for me.
google avatar

Yelp
I am from Detroit and was really excited when Via 313 moved into the area. Detroit style pizza is so good but unless you eat it there there is nothing good about it. Pizza arrives cold and every single time I order delivery parts of the order are missing, what a disappointment. The fourth or fifth time I've ordered delivery, and the salad dressings missing the deserts are missing and the pizza is cold. I ordered a bar style pizza, and it was a cracker with some cheese on it no sauce, dried out and nearly inedible. I called the staff, they are nice and apologize but nothing changes. I get a lot of excuses about not having enough staff. I spent $100 on a dinner that I barely ate. What a let down.
google avatar

Kristen R.

Yelp
Eh, just ok. Ordered 2 large pizzas for take-out. Cost $60. It tasted the same as Little Ceasar's, which is a fraction of the price.

Yelp
Delicious! Got the artichoke dip appetizer and the Cadillac pizza. Sat at the bar and had wonderful, attentive service. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Such a great experience! The gluten free pizza was delicious, love the crispy edges! The toppings were fresh and the dessert cinnamon sticks were so tasty! Our server was so attentive and appreciate her suggestions were helpful.

Yelp
This was our first time at this location and trying Detroit style pizza. The food, people and location were amazing! If you want a different style pizza, you have to check this place out! It's worth a visit for sure!, You will love it, we did!!

L G.

Yelp
This is a great addition to the Littleton food scene. We ate there just a few days after they opened and while some restaurants might still be finding their footing, Via 313s food and staff was outstanding. We enjoyed the happy hour menu (cheese bread was delish) as well The Detroiter pizza plus a combo pizza. Everything came out fresh and hot and we really liked the sauce flavors as well as the pizza preparation. Our server was friendly and efficient. We had never really heard of Detroit-style pizza prior to this, but suffice it to say we are now fans!

P. L.

Yelp
Amazing omnivore pizza and arugula salad!! Coco went above and beyond to make our dinner fabulous!!Thank you

Yelp
Overall, this place was a delight - the only thing holding this back from 5 stars was the wait for our food. Our first visit started off a little rough. Our server was great, took our orders well, explained a promotion, acknowledged some dietary restrictions and answered related questions about the menu and got our drinks to us. But then we waited at least 30 minutes, and maybe up to 40 for the food to come out. One of the pizzas came out wrong. We nearly thought this would be our first, last, and only visit. But ... they actually caught the mistake on the pizza first and addressed it as soon as it arrived at the table. They offered to remake the pizza, which we declined due to the wait, so they comp'ed the pizza and gave us a coupon for a another free pie at a future date. So, their response was perfect and they fully owned the mistake. While the wait was lengthy, the next surprise was HOW GOOD the pizza was! Far exceeded our expectations and was undoubtedly the best gluten-free pizza crust we've ever tasted. Worth noting that the dough is made from de-glutenized wheat flour, which wasn't clear up-front and is worth understanding because some folks avoid gluten due to wheat allergies. We also appreciated that they offered crayons and paper as entertainment for our 5-year old, and also offered some "kids' dough" to play with as well. Cocktails were also great (Old Fashioned and Pink Pony). Overall a pretty inviting space and attentive staff. We'll definitely be back and hope the service time improves to match the rest of what made our visit otherwise great.

Jennifer N.

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time. Split a large Detroit style w meatball appetizer and cinnamon sticks for dessert. Saw a few Caesar salads come out and they also looked delicious. Plan to get one next time. Drinks were fun. Heather is a great bartender. Server was Libby and she was friendly and attentive.

Tracy W.

Yelp
Staff was friendly Food was awesome Love the ambiance Will definitely go back with some friends.

Yelp
This is for the one in Park Meadows I'm from the East Coast Pizza here is difficult to find but I thought I'd give this a try. I really wanted to like the bar pizza but it was pretty much cold after the first three bites and really flat not much cheese gooeyness because it was cold. Didn't even finish the pie. Totally disappointed. I'm gonna go try the Detroit style cause I think that would be a lot better by looking at the pictures.

Tyler M.

Yelp
We stopped by for lunch to celebrate our coworkers wedding. Pizza was delicious and service was amazing! Alex, our server, overheard the celebration and gave us a big dessert on the house. One of our coworkers is vegan and when we told him this, he got us ANOTHER whole dessert on the house. We were delighted! But props to Alex We're definitely coming back soon

Yelp
Delicious! Welcome to the neighborhood! Loved the Detroiter pepperoni pizza and artichoke app. Will be back for the weekday lunch specials!

Jeannine K.

Yelp
I've never tried Detroit pizza This was the best pizza I have ever eaten The restaurant was nice The waitstaff was very attentive and the pizza was cooked to perfection!

Barbara M.

Yelp
Excellent customer service, food was so good and delicious! Highly recommended the Littleton location! Our server was amazing and super helpful when helping us decide what to order because it was our first time tonight. Super casual atmosphere and the restaurant was very clean!

Phillip C.

Yelp
We came in search of a gluten-free pizza crust, and walked away well sated, treated exceptionally well by the staff, and vowing to return. A definite must visit!

Jana V.

Yelp
Incredibly good pizza/appy's, excellent service, great bar... thanks for a perfect night out!

Balio A.

Yelp
My 1st & last visit tp via 313. Pizza isn't so good, more like cheesy bread for $22 avoid.

Cherie B.

Yelp
Alphonso's service was top notch! We'd never been before and just on a whim decided to try it. The pepperoni Detroit style was hot and fresh- the side of ranch was a nice upgrade. Glad to know we now have a great new Detroit style place near Lakewood!

Karlie H.

Yelp
I love this place and I hope it sticks around! It's a great casual pizza place. Great for kids, great for lunch or dinner! We've only tried the thin crust, but it's so delicious! They give kids dough to play with and coloring pages. Very kind people, great atmosphere. It's a gem to me!

Yelp
Service was good, seated right away and atmosphere is enjoyable. The food though...not good at all. We saw reviews and decided to try it out but wow it might be some of the worst pizza we've ever had. Got the thin crust style "bar style?" and I mean Dominoes is better, even a frozen pizza tastes better. The crust was floppy almost like a tortilla and just no flavor, the cheese seriously tasted like a mexican cheese blend from the bag and we got ranch that was hidden valley ranch. Just felt like very low effort food and they begged us to come back and try the detroit style instead cause "its what they're known for" ...well why do you have a thin crust style on the menu that literally flopped in half like a tortilla and why have I and everyone I know never heard of this place before. They said we just might not have been familar with the "bar style" pizza. Well I looked up what it's supposed to look like, and it looked amazing and nothing like the pizza we had. They took the pizza off our tab of course but I just find it actually funny in this day and age to mess up a pizza that bad. Give the detroit style a shot but I just can't imagine it being better if they willingly put something like the bar style on the menu.

Rick D.

Yelp
Honestly. Best pizza ive had in the Lakewood area by FAR. And best Ive had in Colorado ever for 6 years living here. TRY IT

Sarah B.

Yelp
This place is great! Delicious pizza (the thin crust was almost as good as the thick Detroit style). They have inventive topping choices. I highly recommend their cinnamon bread as a post meal treat. Excellent service, friendly vibes, good TVs for watching sports. Go!

Lenore W.

Yelp
This was a first-time experience with Via 313. It was a takeout order due to the football game needs at home. The two, thin crusted pizza's, one pepperoni and one cheese only, were Wonderful!!!! The crust was perfect!! Absolutely recommend Via 313!! So happy to find such a high quality pizza close to home. Will definitely return. 5-star plus!

Kim H.

Yelp
Waited 45 min for take out that never came. Refunded us but never got the pizza and didn't want to waste more time of my life standing at the bar. The pizza looked gross anyway.

Jim S.

Yelp
First time I've had Detroit style. Really enjoyed it. I had the omnivore and my wife had a gluten free ambassador bridge. She said it's one of best gf pizzas she's ever had. They also had some gluten free holidayly so she was very happy. I had and old fashion which was good. Service was very good and friendly. We will definitely be back again
