Casa Brivio Hotel Review | Hotels Above Par

"A chic local café a short stroll away, Via Stampa Bistrot is presented as a stylish alternative for breakfast if you prefer to sit out rather than have Marchesi 1824 pastries delivered, offering an elegant start to the day."

Via Stampa is the first Milanese restaurant from the 28-year-old winemaker Marco Guzzetti, whose organic farm and winery, Podere del Maro, opened in Liguria in 2018. The 50-seat space overlooks the Roman-era Basilica San Lorenzo Maggiore in Cinque Vie, the city’s historic center, yet it feels more like a Parisian bistro than an Italian trattoria. The dining room features a carved wooden bar at the entrance, which opens up to an enfilade of sunlit rooms with white walls and pale parquet floors. The menu — just as pared back and elegant as the décor — focuses on small, seasonal plates that in the spring include fried artichokes with Parmesan fondue and mint, and ravioli stuffed with borage, an earthy tasting wild herb. - NYTimes

This establishment truly shines as a beautifully elegant venue that embodies classic Italian aesthetics without succumbing to typical decorative heaviness. The expansive windows are a standout feature, allowing abundant natural light to flood the dining area, ensuring a bright and inviting atmosphere even during a casual lunch. There's no need to feel confined to a dim setting here. The menu proposals are pleasant, featuring dishes that are not only visually appealing and approachable but also offer fun experiences through the subtle inclusion of unique ingredients. The wine list is rightly curated, offering an appropriate selection to complement the cuisine. The service is consistently courteous and efficient, contributing to an overall seamless dining experience. Finally guests can enjoy their meal in comfort, seated at generously spaced tables within a well-air-conditioned and pleasantly quiet environment.

Beautiful space for all day meals in Milano. We had breakfast here and were not disappointed by the coffee and pastries. The restaurant is spacious and nicely curated. Well done!

Waiting staff ranged from offhand to rude - we tried a bottle of wine which was not to our liking, and the maitre d’ was very reluctant to replace it, then agreed to replace it - but still added it our final bill. He eventually removed it, but was clearly extremely angry. He did give us some pastries on the way out, but this didn’t make up for the bad attitude. The food was nice, but the atmosphere left a lot to be desired. Very disappointing, especially as it was special occasion. Won’t be returning.

Interesting food and menu but ultimately a little disappointing from a flavour perspective. I would certainly try again however.

We we’re very disappointed. After hearing about the nice interior (which it did have) we came to via stampa for a brunch. We made a reservation specifically for breakfast at 12pm. We did get an email that we couldnt be more than 15 minutes late so we made sure we we’re there a few minutes early. At 12:10 we wanted to order our breakfast. Which was only some bread with a hard boiled egg. We we’re then told that this wasn’t possible anymore as the breakfast had ended. Even though we we’re able to make a reservation for BREAKFAST. We then asked if we could order from the lunch menu, as in the rest of the restaurant people we’re doing the same. We we’re then told this wasn’t possible either because we reserved for breakfast. Already disappointed we then ordered some pre made focaccia. We asked if they could be heated up. This again was not possible. After eating our cold focaccia we wanted to order another coffee. This again was NOT possible. The staff wasn’t helpfull or friendly and honestly seemed like they didn’t want to work. This and the very inefficient reservation system unfortunately made for a failed brunch and an empty stomach.

Excellent lunchtime treat. Great understanding of cookery. Full of flavour with nowhere to hide. Super menu options and interesting wine list. The staff are very attentive and professional. Highly recommended

We were sitting outside having breakfast, one of the chef was having a cigarette break near but far enough the entrance, but on the way back in he leaned over the table as we were eating, tossing his half lit cigarette butt in the ashtray, saying “sorry guys, I am gonna take advantage of your ashtray” and left. Not asking, just informing us. Educate your staff please!!

Favorite place in Milan. Cozy, beautiful, such a nice light and warm atmosphere. The food is amazing, feels like being home but better.
