On the Grid : Via Tevere

"Named after the street in Naples where the owner's passion for pizza began, Via Tevere is a lovely pizzeria that never seems to be lacking a crowd. The main feature of the menu is authentically prepared, thin crust Neapolitan pizza cooked in an instant in a traditional domed wood oven, the focal point of the restaurant. There are also other Italian staples like pasta, antipasti as well as sumptuous desserts though pizza really is the focus here. If you're looking to eat in the restaurant be prepared for a wait during peak times though I've found, if you order pizza to go, you can often get them out faster than you'd get a limp sandwich at Subway." - Asterios Moutsokapas

Their Alla Norma pizza was delicious! It’s a Neopolitan style pizza and I really enjoyed its slight charred flavour just out of the wood oven. Would love to try different flavours next time. Their pasta menu was very simple with 3-4 kinds only. Pasta itself was also simple but very tasty. We had carbonara and it was the most authentic one we had. We sat inside as was a hot day but they gave nice patio area on the back as well.

Finally, I was able to dine at Via Tevere. They’re quite famous in town for their Neopolitana styled pizza which comes with a chewy crust. Best if eaten when pizza is folded. The toppings for the four cheese was so good. The meatball also tasted very good. Finished off with the sugary donuts, it was a lovely dinner experience. Service is great, food came in very fast, and good price. Will definitely recommend to others who like Neapolitan pizza.

Google
La Via Tevere is an absolute gem. This family-run pizzeria pours genuine heart into every dish, and it shows. The pizza is as authentic as it gets—crispy, chewy, wood-fired perfection with classic Italian flavor. It’s rare to find a spot outside of Italy that nails it this well. Warm atmosphere, top-notch ingredients, and a team that truly cares about what they serve. If you’re craving real Italian pizza, this is the place to go. Highly recommended.

Google
You must try this place if you are a pizza lover! The best pizza and meat ball in town! I didn’t used to like pizza until I encountered this place, then totally changed my mind! Every single flavor tastes good.

Just had one of the best Italian meals I’ve ever had and it’s officially my new favourite spot! The food was absolutely delicious, full of flavour, and tasted so fresh. Can’t wait to come back!

We had a really excellent experience at Via Tevere last night. My girlfriend and I heard about this place from multiple friends, so we decided to give them a shot… and I’m so glad we did!!! We went at about 5:15PM on a Saturday & had to wait only 15 minutes for a table (they don’t take reservations). Once we got in, we were quickly greeted by our friendly server & throughout the night, she did a great job of taking care of us, made excellent recommendations, and was overall very mindful. We ordered the Frittura Napoletana to start, the Sacrilegio & Prosciutto E Funghi as mains, and ended with their homemade donut (Graffa con Nutella) to finish off. Our started was truly excellent & although there was lots of fried food on the plate, it wasn’t very oily & still fairly light; that being said, it was a touch over-salted, 8/10. The pizza itself was incredible, the flavours were excellent & you can tell that this is their specialty; the pizza alone I’d rate a 9.4/10 for its excellent sauce, the pizza being cooked perfectly, and the high quality ingredients used in the process! Lastly the donut was lacking a bit for me. Although it was cooked perfectly and had a nice crisp exterior with a pillowy interior, the dish was missing some kind of salt to bring out the flavours of the chocolate & the donut itself. 6/10. Overall I’d give this place a 9/10; we will absolutely return to try more dishes & explore what else Via Tevere has to offer!

My favorite place in town to eat pizza and have great time with family and friends, the staff is very friendly and all what we ordered came out pretty fast and was delicious!, they don’t accept reservations, but the place is worth to try!, you wont be disappointed!

Google
Great Napoletana style pizza. So reasonably priced! Our server was attentive and personable. The polenta sticks with marinara sauce was delicious and lots to share. The meatballs for the appie were huge and delicious. You can’t go wrong here. The place is small so you will probably have a wait. I definitely recommend this place

Yelp
Polenta Fries and Arugula Salad! I enjoy the comfort food here and the Napolitano style pizza, especially the one with mashed potatoes. Service is casual, nothing too friendly but fine. It's definitely about the food and familiarity.

Yelp
Wood fired pizza place in a residential neighborhood, in the northern parts of Victoria Dr. in Vancouver. Street parking. Went there early-ish for dinner on a Sunday and they had tables open, but filled up when we left before 6pm. The sitting space is in a U shape around the oven in the center. There is a small bar on the left side of the. The have pizza, pasta, some starters, along with a beer and wine selection. I got their Sacrilegio magherita and pepperoni pizza with the tomato based sauce ($22). Served pretty quickly. Size is standard for these wood fired pizzas (12 inch) which was enough for me. They don't cut the pizza beforehand and give you scissors to make the cuts. Note that the scissors are designed to come apart easily so have to be a little careful with them. The pizza has good dough, and pepperoni cups had a nice aroma and crisp. Not the biggest fan of their tomato sauce though, which overall made the pizza only okay. Tried a piece of my friends tricolor pizza that has the olive oil base and some pesto sauce, and that seem to have a better taste profile. Maybe some of the other varieties are more to my liking.

Yelp
For a Saturday night, the wait was surprisingly not long for a table for four. They said 45 minute wait but we got our table in 15 minutes. We were seated in the roofed back garden with heaters. Cute space and friendly servers. The pizza crust is delicious and they have great pizza topping options. The tiramisu is tasted classic, like from nonna's kitchen!

Yelp
food was pretty good, the server was very pushy and wouldn't really this us alone making it a little hard to enjoy ourselves. She even said that my son is a "big boy" making him uncomfortable. we shared the deep fried vegetables and a pizza, both were good. just so you know the pizza is kinda spicy and the dough definitely wasn't relaxed enough. the ambience was quite cool lots of old art work making it feel very homey

Yelp
How has this place gotten such rave reviews for so many years? Did we just come on an "off" day? We'd heard so much about Via Tevere over the years, and they're even opening a second location after all this time. So we finally went to try it, and it was the biggest disappointment ever! The crust of our pizza was super soggy. How does a place that serves soggy pizza get rave reviews and end up being voted as Best Pizza in Vancouver?! This couldn't possibly be what people have been raving about for so many years. Somebody please explain to me how or why this place that's been voted best pizza in Vancouver managed to serve us some of the soggiest pizza we've ever had! So glad I only ordered a Margherita this time and not something fancier that would have cost several dollars more, as that would have been several more dollars wasted on soggy pizza! Service: Good Parking: Free parking on the street

Yelp
One of my very favorite spots in Vancouver -- exceptional pizza, wonderfully kind servers, bartenders and hosts, gorgeous outdoor patio and in addition to pizza, they have top-tier appetizers, cocktails -- love the Amaro and Aperol options -- plus stellar nonalcoholic options including an amazing San Benedetto peach iced tea from Italy and desserts. We go here every time we're in town and I can't recommend it highly enough! We love the sacrilegio special pizza, the salsiccia y rapini, the rucola con limone salad, their polpette Della nona (meatballs appetizer) and the dolci (usually the cannoli) with cappuccino or coffee at end of the meal to enjoy and digest if we leave enough room. The patio is adorable in spring and summer when we've been -- with heat lamps to help with PNW chill -- and the inside is cozy but really comfy in all seasons, with an amazing view of their gorgeous pizza oven.

Yelp
Place lived up to the hype. We both loved our pizzas and will be back. The unique thing about this place is that they don't cut the pizza and instead they have a pair of shears at each table for customers to cut their pizza themselves

Yelp
Cute little place located in a residential area that has an outdoor seating area but also enclosed patio at the back of the restaurant! I think you can only go in that back patio through the restaurant though - definitely would want to get seated there next time but didn't know about it when we went. Overall food was tasty! There weren't that many pasta choices but the pizza was delicious! The dough was nice and crispy and light/fluffy Would consider coming back here again to try their other pizzas!

Yelp
This place is located in Victoria drive. Beautiful outside and inside. If you are interested to go there, I recommend you try to make a reservation. It is a busy place. This is one of my 3 favourite pizza place in BC. Yeap you heard right, BC!!! They have such good pizza and they have some polenta as well. If you are Italian, you know what I'm talking about! My favourite pizza is prosciutto & Rucola and paccenta & zucchine. Loved a lot those 2 pizzas!! And their pasta is so yummy as well. All the time when I come here, I do have a good time and never had any bad experience!! Loved this place a lot and just because I'm writing this review, I started craving for pizza lol Hope you like this place! Cheers

Yelp
Usually outstanding. Love this place. Great service but there should be a " don't table it if charred". I get the fun of cooking either way a fire oven and how challenging it can be -- but charred is not expected. Lots of pizza over the years in Napoli...never had charred/ just saying. " if your not proud of it - don't serve it"

Yelp
Super beautiful Neopolitan pizza place along a rather desolate stretch of Victoria. Parking is available on the side streets. The place gets packed and it's easy to see why. Food here is good. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Pizzas here come without being cut. Instead they also give a large pair of scissors (hedge trimmers?). Works surprisingly well. Sacrilegio pizza - covered with tomato sauce, blobs of fior di latte, and many slices of New Jersey pepperoni. Pepperoni distribution could be a bit more even, but oh well. Quattro formaggi - 4 cheeses. Firo di latte, ricotta, smoked provolone, and grana padano. Thought it wouldn't be satisfying since it's basically a cheese pizza, but I was wrong. Spaghetti alla carbonara - a wee bit on the salty side and the portion is a bit on the small side, but they don't skimp on the bacon chunks. Oh yeah, I also had a coffee. Solid stuff. The Italians know what they're doing. Buddy and I left satisfied. Definitely wouldn't mind coming back. Recommended.

Yelp
I was visiting a friend in Vancouver and she took me to this amazing pizza place. The ambiance was buzzing with nightlife and people eager to eat here and excited to visit with company. You could immediately tell it was a very popular spot. We sat at the pizza bar as we didn't have a reservation which I might recommend to avoid waiting for a table. Since there is only two of us it was still an easy spot for us to visit at the pizza bar. The wait staff was fun and interactive wanting to make sure we had a good time. We ordered this incredible Margarita pizza and shared a bottle of red wine. They had lots of different options for pizza as well as a great wine list. This restaurant from what I've heard about Italy has a lot of similarities to make it more authentic and an experience that you won't find at a lot of other pizza places. I've never had to do this before but I was really into it, with each pizza they give you a pair of scissors and then you can cut your slices out, it wasn't work though it was actually a lot of fun! Very very good tasting pizza!! Since we were sitting at the pizza bar we got an excellent view of the pizza being made in the fast fire ovens. If you're looking for an Italian escape you have to try eating here!

Yelp
Great, just great. We arrived around 6pm on a Friday evening and got sat quite quickly in their cozy (and heated) patio in the back! My husband grabbed a negroni while I opted for an Italian iced tea. The iced tea came in a plastic bottle with a glass of ice but it was very nostalgic of the beverages you get in Switzerland in a restaurant, served the same way! I got the peach iced tea and it was delicious. I did notice the Italian soda was San Pellegrino so not as exciting and foreign for a Canadian since that sells in the masses in grocery stores. We ordered their salad special - bufala caprese which was absolutely delicious hunks of cheese, tomato, basil and an excellent simple dressing. Scrumptious! We then shared their spaghetti carbonara - I've never had their pasta and it was to die for. The chunks of bacon were the perfect bite of chew and crisp and the noodle thickness on point. We also got their pizza special with smoked provolone, pancetta, red onions, mushrooms and a cream base (and maybe red peppers?). The crust was perfect and the smoked provolone just elevated this pizza. We closed out our meal with another negroni that had bourbon as well as the trio of desserts. We thought if we just ordered one we would get the Tiramisu but the trio allowed us to try the chocolate orange cake, the doughnut and the tiramisu. The Tiramisu was our least favourite and the orange cake and doughnut were both delicious and we'd order again! It was a great date night on Friday.

Yelp
Driving by and there was a huge crowd, on our way back no line so wanted to give it a try. Let's just say the best life decision ever made! They were the best pizzas EVER!!! Boscaiola and Vesuvio, if you have to choose get boscaiola. Here is my husband and I eating on the hood of our car.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing spot for pizza. The food is unreal and the service is quick and friendly. The carbonara and pizzas were so good. The meatballs were unreal too. The desserts were so good as well. Highly recommend checking out this place. Come early or expect a wait as this place is walk in only.

Charlie N.

Yelp
The pizza is really great here! The food usually comes very quickly as well. However, the service was off during our last visit. The hostess seemed out of it and made us wait for a table despite half the restaurant being empty. When we sat down, I asked if I could order a drink and the hostess said NO, in such a weird, rude way. No smile, no nothing. She scuttled off quickly. The server eventually stopped by and was fine, but the vibes were really off at this point. They now give you scissors to cut your pizza and the scissors fell apart and the blade almost fell off the table near our kiddo. It was not cool. I dunno, it was a weird visit. Train your staff to be friendly, maybe?

Yelp
Pros: - Best pizza in Vancouver. Hands down. - Ordered the potato pizza and classic prosciutto and mushroom. - super thin za and the crust super airy. Can easily put away a whole pie myself. - Tiramisu is heavy on the lady fingers, which is my personal preference. Notes: - They don't seat until the whole party is present. - free parking on residential street on Victoria Dr or inside streets - takeout pizza isn't sliced
google avatar

Camilla M.

Yelp
Because our ferry from Victoria was delayed, we had to change our plans for dinner. Therefore along the way to Vancouver, we decided to stop here even though they were closing soon. We arrived at 9:05pm and they said we had to order in 10 minutes before the closure. We ordered pizza napoletana for me and pizza Margherita with prosciutto for my husband. The pizza was ok, not the best one, neither the worst (I can say it wasn't the Napolitan pizza). I didn't really like the cold attitude of the entire staff, they didn't really pay attention to us. I know we arrived at the closing time, but it doesn't justify the lack of service.

Thom N.

Yelp
If you have eaten here you'll know. Great pizza. Great appies. Decent wine by the glass, half litre or bottle. Sometimes there's a wait to get in. It's worth it.

Yelp
If you ever had fantastic Neapolitan pizza in Italy, this is the place. I introduced my girlfriend to Via Tevere and she thought she was in heaven! We ordered my favourites- the Prosciutto e Funghi and Prosciutto e Rucola (fresh arugula). The size was more than ample as it is still tasty as a leftover. The pizzas come in one size and you cut the slices yourself with scissors provided. You can see them making the crust by hand with toppings and the brick oven is located inside the restaurant. My girlfriend was so impressed that she ordered another whole pizza to take home! The salads looked delicious but we chose to save room for their homemade tiramisu. We had no problem gobbling it up. We came here on a weekend and it was busy. Unfortunately no reservations. You can either leave your number or wait outside. No need to worry about waiting in the cold on a rainy day as there's a bench outside underneath the heated lamp. It was definitely worth the wait. They also have patio seating behind the restaurant with heat lamps to keep you warm. Great ambiance, great service, and great pizza. We'll be back!

Yelp
Hands down one if the best neopolitan pizza places in Vancouver. Gotta be on the top 3. Its that good. Ive been to naples and sampled the pizza from the birthplace itself...and let me tell you... Via tevere delivered as expected. Outstanding and impressive. The use of fresh ingredients everywhere and the quality of the pizza crust. Together it spells masterpiece! You can actually taste the freshness in every bite of their every dish. You can tell quality ingredients and excellent olive oil are used here. They dont skimp on ingredients. But dont just take my word for it...go find out. See if you can get a table for dinner service. They dont take reservations. Just walk ins. Ive been twice, and both times i had to wait 45 mins. They are that good and in-demand! If i live close, i'd go every wk. lol. Absolutely fantastic. The pie was so perfect. Thin but sturdy to hold the toppings. The crust, bubbly and slightly burnt just right. Timing is everything and this place has it down to science. Together with a glass of beer or wine, this could happily be my last meal before i leave earth. Its that good! If i could give 6 stars i would. Parking can be a little tricky as its all street parking. But ive seen people walk blocks just to come and eat. They are always buzzing and packed. Cheers! Happy eating!

Chris T.

Yelp
We waited for almost one and a half hour for this meal it was soooo worthy of waiting, everything was absolutely amazing

Lutianne C.

Yelp
Via Tevere is hands down my favorite Italian restaurant. The polenta is divine, and their tiramisu is simply unbeatable. It's a must-visit for Italian cuisine lovers!

A W.

Yelp
After reading the reviews about their horrible services, we just refuse to line up to get that, then get guilted into paying unwarranted tips for getting mistreated by staff. So, we did the take out for their popular red sauce prosciutto and mushroom pizza via online, that gives you options to have pizza cut or not. It was tasty; however, prosciutto is naturally salty, so we found the whole pizza too salty for our liking. It's good, but I cannot validate enduring the weather standing in a line up, knowing that you'd probably get horrible services. I might consider take out-- and no tips. If I don't tip for take outs at Macdonald's or other fast food take outs, I cannot validate tipping for no dine in services. Parking is horrendous and challenging to find, so be prepared for any stress hunting for a parking spot.

Yelp
Definitely among the best in Vancouver, this much I know for sure. Came by this evening for some good old fashioned pizza and Via tevere did not disappoint. I'm pleased with the covid precautions they've taken. It did not feel uncomfortable at all during my visit. Our waiter gave us plenty of time to mull over the menu and happily advised us that no, they did not have onions, spinach or ground beef as optional toppings... Pretty traditional! My Margherita pizza came out within minutes, and certainly hit all the high notes. At first glance the size may look on the small side but I had half the pizza myself and took the rest home with me. Mind you, I usually only eat half a Ristorante pizza! I understand why they don't have Parmesan or chili flakes on the table right now but would have liked the server to offer them when serving the pizzas, instead of having to flag him down to ask. We didn't get an opportunity to do so. Overall, a good experience, I'd certainly return.
google avatar

Lynn M.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. Probably the best pizza I have had outside of Italy. The crust is just perfect. We love the Prosciutto e Rucola (arugula). Especially as they serve you the arugula separately so it doesn't go soggy (for takeaways). Pizzas are one size and you cut them yourself. We ordered two pizzas for two of us and had enough for lunch (or in my case, breakfast) the next day. Also, the meatballs are delicious. The restaurant looks cute although we have always just had take aways. Highly highly recommend.
google avatar

Kevin L.

Yelp
This pizza is upon the saltiest, worst tasting pizza, I've ever had. No cheese, super saucy ad skimp toppings. Asked for them to cut my pizza as I repeatedly would get take out, went home and had to cut it myself. Cutting a pizza should be a given, when you do take out, you don't always have a sharp knife on hand. Lol Service is ok, but really depends on who you are dealing with, there was some attitude with our server. Not sure why, we were polite and only expected the same in return. I would avoid this place, it's super hard to find parking and I got a ticket. That did not make me happy. Hopefully, the restaurant puts more cheese and more toppings on the pizza in the future? Update: May 20th, 2022 The pizza my roommate ordered was cut and had more cheese on it. I'll keep checking on it when he orders, perhaps they responded to the reviews on here.

Yelp
One of my favourite places for pizza in Vancouver! The flavour is top notch and I love the wood fire cooking method ! We got the Prosciutto e Funghi and we devoured it. Highly recommended place for pizza in Vancouver!
google avatar

Nisha M.

Yelp
The pizza here is flavorful and the crust is perfect for thin crust, fire oven pizza lovers. I'd recommend the prosciutto funghi. For dessert, the Nutella donut is warm with gooey chocolate and incredibly supple and soft dough.
google avatar

Sharon B.

Yelp
Best pizza I've ever had! Great atmosphere and service I've never written a review before but had to for Via Tevere!

Ellen H.

Yelp
I took an out of town visitor here without a reservation and we lucked out as there was a table available. The only problem is it was too close to next table without anything in between. I deducted one star because of this and the burned pizza. We ordered the Quattro Formaggi and the Lasagna. The Quattro Formaggi smelled great, I love the different types of cheese. The only problem was a little bit of it was burned. The Lasagna was a little bit too salty, but other tasted perfect. The value and quality of the food was excellent. I also felt the server was genuinely friendly and cheerful. My friend was definitely satisfied with this experience.
google avatar

Allison K.

Yelp
I drive past this place at least a dozen times a week. Every time I see a line up around the block. When you walk in, you would never guess that the restaurant is as large as it is. We were seated in the patio out back. It was perfect. It had grapevines along the ceiling and fencing and it smelled so fresh and fruity. After dinner we ordered dessert. This is hands down THE best Tiramisu I've EVER had!! For the past 35 years, when dining at an Italian Restaurant, I would always order the Tiramisu for dessert. I've even bought tiramisu at various bakeries. Via Tevere Pizzeria's Tiramisu is, fluffy, FULL of flavour, not too sweet, not too bitter (for those of you who do not like espresso), each spoonful melted in my mouth! I would go back just for the dessert alone!!

Noah I.

Yelp
I ordered online and paid $80 only to have to wait 7 minutes upon arrival, despite the food being on the counter next to the takeout window. Staff passed by me multiple times, obviously seeing me each time. I've had this experience before with the same staff, albeit when I was working for skip the dishes. It was the same bald white guy who kept me waiting when I was trying to work. I assumed it would be different now as this time I am their customer (and paid a lot of money). When I went inside I was helped by someone else and they told me to wait at the Take-out window, which I had been already, and the food was right there and I was presenting my receipt. I am not rude to service workers so I don't understand why so many service workers are so rude to me. I just want to be treated like any other customer when I'm eating out. Thank you. Also, my food was cold despite me arriving at the time I was told to, and it did not taste good enough either to feel okay with being treated like I'm an inconvenience. Please be nice to people

Yelp
The only place in the World which gave me the pizza on time. I went there for a take away and they were on time! Fantastic The pizza is the Napoletana style. Good toppings and good prices.

Yelp
If you're looking for fantastic neapolitan-style pizza you've come to the right place. Via Tevere is a small place out of the way in a mainly residential area, but its certainly worth the trip. They've got 5 rotating beer taps meaning that their brew choices are always fresh and interesting. I had the Hoyne Dark Matter which balanced the light, olive oil based pizza I chose. Their pizzas are cooked to order in a stone oven at 900 degrees for just 90 seconds, leaving you with a crispy and delicious crust. I had the Salsiccia e Rapini with a white base, while others at my table ordered the Quattro Formaggi (definite favourite for me) the Prosciutto e Funghi, and the Prosciutto e Rucola. Each of us devoured our pizzas, not wanting to waste a bite. For dessert, I had to try the Tiramisu, my personal litmus test for any Italian restauraunt and boy did it deliver here. The cream on top was the perfect consistency, and on par with those I'd had in Italy. The ladyfingers werent soggy at all but still had an incredible coffee flavour. It was honestly one of the best Tiramusu I've ever had. So far this place is my go-to for pizza in Vancouver; I've yet to find a place that does thin crust better. The service was fairly good considering they were packed and had some pretty large parties. That being said, we did feel a little rushed which is why I docked one star. Overall, I highly recommend Via Tevere to pizza lovers of all kinds, or even those just looking for some good Italian food, as the pastas and apps looked delicious and are made fresh.

Yelp
My disabled wife got fired from here without notice for having a seizure and struggling to work. But the pizza here is great!

Yelp
If you're craving authentic, neapolitan, Italian pizza, then visit Via Tevere. In the last month, I've gotten Via Tevere 3 times. This was the last place I dined out before I quarantined and since being quarantined, I've gotten take out twice. All three experiences were great. My dine in experience was fantastic. It was a Sunday evening. We were sat right away. Our server had great recommendations, plus she was friendly and efficient. Our drinks were never empty and the food came out very quickly. Between my friend and I we shared the Prosciutto e Rucola and the pasta special of the day: bolognese rigatoni. We loved both. The prosciutto on the pizza was cooked and then added to the pizza after, which was different than other prosciutto pizzas I've had in the past. Both dishes were the perfect amount for the two of us. My take out experience was also great. I was on the couch craving some 'za and instead of calling Dominos, I wanted to support local and remembered my fantastic dine in experience, so decided to call Via Tevere. I ordered the Quattro Formaggi and Prosciutto e Rucola and it still tasted warm and fresh by the time I got back to my place. Since this spot is located on Victoria, it's easy to get here via public transit or if you choose to drive there is plenty of parking along Victoria and Commercial. 5 stars across the board for Via Tevere. I can't wait to eat more delicious 'za soon!

Yelp
In 2019 I took a trip with my girlfriend to Europe and she wanted to go to San Remo to have pizza. It took a lot to get there and we got there late at night just before they closed to a full restaurant but they put us out on the sidewalk so that we could have pizza. We always remembered how hard it was to get there and how great the pizza was. If you're looking for truly truly authentic pizza Italian pizza then you must visit Tevere pizzeria. I went with a business associate and it was so good I took my girlfriend there to reminisce about our travels. The Vesuvius is the pizza the half in my opinion but everything is great and make sure you have a arugula salad. They've also got a decent appetizer menu and a great little wine selection. It was so good that I meeting a work mate at this restaurant this Thursday night at 5:30... Anybody wanna join us? LOL

Yelp
My first five star rating! This restaurant sits on Vancouver's oldest street. I would say this has got to be one of best Italian restaurants in BC. The pizza was amazing; we added the prosciutto near the end so it was fresh. The lasagna melted in my mouth and the portions were perfect to share. The Tiramisu was soft, a perfect balance between flavours. One thing i would love to see more is a little more service, and the wait time when waiting for the food had reached 20 minutes but honestly, the taste of the food made up for everything. I would suggest coming right when service opens as the restaurant does tend to fill up. I would DEFINITELY recommend this restaurant to locals and visitors, you will not be disappointed!

Yelp
I've been here many times before going vegan and haven't been since due to no vegan pizza on the menu other than the marinara which I find a little boring IMO. I was so happy to find out that after opening Grano, their fully plant based pizzeria, they introduced a vegan cheese on their menu. Great option to have especially when you go out for dinner with non vegan friends and family. We shared an arugula salad which is always my go to when I go here. I LOVE the lemony dressing. YUM! 5/5 My Ortolana pizza with vegan cheese was OK, there was missing a little flavour so I added their Chili oil and also asked for some pizza sauce to dip my pizza in. 3/5. Next time I go I will try their Filetto with vegan cheese or the Capriciosa minus the meats and add vegan cheese.

Yelp
Usually I would not write a review. But since this involved my small child, I feel it is necessary to write one. I went to Via Tevere Pizzeria recently with my husband and my small 3 year old daughter. We ordered her a cheese pizza, The food arrived, she begin eating. She suddenly started to choke, and her eyes were watering. Of course we panicked, we quickly started patting her back, and we opened her mouth to release whatever she was choking on. She finally spit it out! There was a sharp piece of plastic that she spit out. It must have been baked into her pizza by accident. We are very grateful that we were able to get it out of her mouth, otherwise this could have ended much worse. We immediately brought this to the attention of the staff. They didn't seem to take it very seriously, they asked if we would like another pizza, and we declined it. We asked for the bill, as we wanted to leave at this point. To our surprise the pizza was on the bill, I am not sure if it was intentional, or they forgot to take it off. We clearly should not be charge for a pizza that had a foreign object in it. At this point I didn't have the time or patience to argue, as my daughter was hysterical from the experience, and we needed to get her home. We paid the full bill and left. Once things settled down. I messaged the owner by the name of Dom, addressing the situation. He said he would need to investigate the situation. He asked bizarre questions, like our home address... and all of our dates of birth.. and if my child is on medication!? How is any of this relevant!? He barely apologized, and did not seem to take the matter seriously. He later responded, and said they cant figure out how the sharp plastic got in the pizza, and he suggested that maybe it came from us by accident!?? Was he trying to insinuate that we would harm our own small child, and try to put a piece of sharp plastic in her $15 pizza!?! Has he lost his mind!? He clearly does not have children himself! He has lost a loyal customer for good. I read other reviews, where other customers are complaining about the owner Dom customer service. He clearly does not value his customers, or take complaints seriously! Shame on him! If you have children or not, I would highly suggest you avoid this restaurant. They will take zero responsibility if anything occurs and they will blame the situation on you! I have never in my life experienced such poor Customer Service, especially with a small child being involved. There are many other restaurants in the city that value their customers and take matters seriously.

Yelp
The pizza was good. However, the service wasn't. They are supposed to give you scissors to cut your pizza. The waitress forgot and it was my first time here, so you can imagine the frustration trying to figure out why my pizza wasn't sliced. By the time, I figured out and talked to the waitress and got the scissors, the pizza was cold.

Yelp
I came to this place with very high expectations, not only was this restaurant recommended by multiple friends, but it gave me a vibe of authentic European food, and as I am from France myself, I feel I know what to expect from authentic European restaurants. Although this restaurant did not disappoint, I feel like the pizza was just a touch underwhelming, and could have been elevated just a touch. I will elaborate shortly. We came as a group of 4. Naturally, my girlfriend and I chose matching drinks, and different pizzas to share equally so as to enjoy more than one flavours. The food was good. It tasted fresh, was well prepared and the quality was obvious. The only note that stood out for me was that the flavour seemed a bit lacking for my taste. I would have expected an explosion of flavours bursting on my taste buds, but found the pizza rather mild and subtle. For pizza is cooked fresh in front of customers, and with such a clever mix of ingredients overall, it was well executed. The desert and drink were very good also. The simple delights found in Europe were well recreated here. The service was beyond stellar. The staff went above and beyond for us. We only had to think of something and like magic, the staff were there answering our prayers. The ambiance is very European (at least for the area) and comfortable. The prices were high , but not unexpected for the kind of quality one gets there. I will return to this establishment at the next opportunity.

Yelp
It's not only with heavy heart, but also with bated breath that I do declare I shan't be going back to Via Tevere for their pizza because if i wanted disrespect with my pizza I would just eat a slice outside of Megabite on Granville Street at 1 am on a Saturday night, and for a fraction of the cost. It's a real shame too because we've been here before and had a lovely time so when we visited again as part of our journey to find Vancouver's Best Pizza, we expected nothing but the best. I tried to call in for pickup this time because we had goals to maximize the summer night and enjoy our true neapolitan pizza pie in the park. We learned that they don't take pickup orders over the phone so you have actually go into order and wait for your pizza, which is fine. I was directed to the bar where pizza orders are taken and instead of being greeted with any sort of hospitality as you might expect as a paying customer, I was barked at by the bartender to come around to the side to order my pizza. ordered our two pizzas - Margherita and Pizza Gatto - and the whole interaction was the most aggressive exchange I've ever encountered in a pizza shop. I'm quite certain her eyeballs just about rolled out of her head when I asked where I should wait for our pizzas. FYI - that answer is you just wait and linger outside until someone calls your name. Now I'm no doctor and maybe she was having a bad day (you know, walk a day in someone else's shoes blah blah), but if I walk away from an encounter feeling like I've just been slapped in the face, I'm going to go ahead and call that a problem. Let's talk pizza. Admittedly this pizza is done well, though not as good as I remember (and not just because of the mean lady at the bar). The classic Marg ($14) was tasty enough, though could have used more basil. Highlight of the night (if you could really even call it that) for everyone was the Pizza Gatto ($18) with its cream sauce, fior di latte, prosciutto cotto, whipped potato, black pepper and grana. A medley of comforting things were happening here but the whipped potato was the real redeeming quality of the entire evening. Small dollops of creamy mashed potato are scattered throughout the pie and blend into its environment so that when you bite into it, it's like a pleasantly surprising pocketful of sunshine. Crust is typical of classic neapolitan pizza - soft and chewy with light charring so is good if you're a fan of that. Clear loser in my mind on account of atrocious customer service, would I return? Even after leaving feedback with the manager, who by the way was very apologetic and lovely - that's gonna be a no from me dog. I've said it once, I've said it a million times - you could serve me gold on a platter but if can't grasp that dining out is so much more than just the food and is really a whole experience, than I will take my hard-earned dollars to the pizza place a quick bus ride down the street that treats me like family.

Yelp
Over the moon. We ordered the capricciosa and not only did it come out very fast, but it was absolutely delightful. So many flavors in one pizza. Wait time is negligible and the newest waitress with the short hair was an angel, I loved her immensely! I recommend!

Yelp
I came here so long ago!! I don't know why I haven't come back. Probably because I can't stand waiting in line, but I would say the line is worth it! Via Tevere is located on Victoria drive in a very cute and quaint area. I've driven by on my way downtown and there is always a line! I remember the first time I went, my parents and I got to sit up right by the chefs making the pizza. We got to see it all happen! We watched them stretch the dough, put on our toppings and put the pie right into the scorching hot oven. It was so hot we could feel it from our seat! The best part was it happened right in front of our eyes and the pizza came out in seconds. The dough was almost like naan, super stretchy, thin and chewy. I will need to visit again!

Yelp
I've wanted to try this place for awhile. After hearing from others about the great pizza and reading about it here, with all the positive reviews, we decided to try it out ourselves. We arrived at the restaurant 20 minutes before opening. We didn't see a lineup when we drove by the place, and parked around the corner and thought we'd wait in the car until close to opening time. Once we decided to line up, in 10 minutes time there were at least 25 people at the front door! I thought we would end up waiting longer, as I wasn't sure what the seating capacity was, but thank goodness we made it in for the first seating. Everyone was seated promptly and the wait staff were friendly and accommodating. We ordered and shared the following: Salad: Insalata mista Appetizer: Frittura Napoletana Pizza: Capricciosa Dessert: Tiramisu B tried their Italian beer and he mentioned it was a nice pairing to the meal. Everything came in a good time. The food satisfied our palate and we ended up bringing half the pizza home.
