Via Veneto

"Almost everyone in Barcelona is aware of the legendary culinary status of Via Veneto! Even after half a century of service and change, the Monje family has retained the true values of this restaurant that seems anchored in the past, but which has been able to move with the times without losing an ounce of its personality. To an elegant and genuine Belle Époque backdrop, young chef David Andrés maintains the culinary status quo here through cuisine that underpins its classical heritage, albeit with a focus on a more modern technical approach and a select array of ingredients. Delicious game dishes (hare royale, red partridge with stewed cabbage, loin of venison etc) are also on the menu in season. Guests can visit the superb wine cellar, 6m underground, which boasts an outstanding collection of Spanish and French wines. A favourite dish here is the pressed roast duck cooked in its own jus and served two ways (for a minimum of two guests) which has featured on the menu since 1967!" - Michelin Inspector

Spectacular! Food, service, ambience, all top notch! One of the best restaurants in Barcelona and the most enjoyable Michelin starred restaurant I've been to. Special mention to all the staff, they strike the perfect balance between the top service of a michelin starred restaurant, with warm and nice treatment, from start to finish.

Excellent traditional cooking with a creative twist. The staff are exceptionally friendly and welcoming.

Not a mediocre 3 but short of 4. I really enjoyed the old decor and ambience. The service was impeccable and friendly, but I really expected more from the food. Nothing really impressed me and that’s not even considering the price. The Turbot was a little hard, the squab was quite unbalanced and the Turnedo didn’t have truffles and just a small piece of Foie. The best: the Flan!

Very nice ambience! The food was fine but not great, the pigeon was not cooked well. The service was poor - we were told to eat faster because the kutchen was ready, and cutlery for the next course was arranged while we were still eating. On top of that, the waiter asked how much tip we'd leave which was rude.

An intermediate experience. It's very old world, the decor is outdated, the staff are very good but it feels formal. We ordered the tasting menu with wine pairing. The food had highs and lows, some plates were excellent (for example the quail), others mediocre to poor (eg the prawn with macaroni: the fumet was excellent, the macaroni way overcooked and not finished in the sauce). Given the price they charge for a mixed experience, I wouldn't return. You can do better elsewhere.

This was our first time at Via Veneto and for sure won’t be the last. We had a super delicious food, I am vegetarian, and is not easy for me to find good options when in Spain, I am so grateful to the staff of this wonderful restaurant because they offered me a wide range of vegetarian options off the menu. The service and the vibes are extraordinary. I totally recommend it!

Very great classic feeling restaurant with new food techniques and a great menu. We ordered A la carte but the waiter helped coordinate group appetizers. It was very good.

This is truly a gem of old school Catalan dining in the best sense. Service is OG gentlemanly style and the food is classic with just the right amount of modern touches. Pigeon is possibly the best I've EVER had!

Yelp
Very nice dining experience. Our family of seven ate here as our last dinner in Barcelona. Atmosphere was elegant. Service was top notch. Very accommodating, relaxed, friendly. Wine service was top notch. For all of our wine selections, we were given appropriate glasses and appropriate pourings. Wines were at good temperatures, not too warm. Food was very good. Favorites were the duck (prepared at table-side), the steak, and the hake. Favorite appetizers were the crab cocktail, lobster salad, and the mushrooms. Favorite desserts were the Crepe Suzette and the Strawberries Romanoff--both also prepared table-side. Overall, a wonderful experience.

Yelp
Well I am not a fine dining guy let's star with that. But the place looks old which I know is normal for fine dining at classic places, the service was good but the food nothing spectacular nor great. Everything felt blend the mood, the place the food. I am giving 3 stars because the service was very good everything else not.

Yelp
Disappointing. Good restaurant, but does not deserve a Michelin Star. Overpriced for what it offers. Went to Xerta the day before and it was much better for similar price point and also 1 Michelin Star...

Yelp
I loved the experience at Via Veneto. The decor and staff are a blast from the past. The owner wanders around the dining room making small talk with diners, many of whom seem to be on their 50th visit to the restaurant. The mood is formal, but also warm and inviting. Our 3-hour meal passed in the blink of an eye. The food was more varied, with flashes of brilliance alongside areas for improvement. Their take on fish and chips, with tiny morsels of perfectly cooked cod and light, puffy chips was incredible. The tuna tartar (in season) with pine nuts and tomato may be the best I've ever had. The wine list is varied and reasonably priced. This would be a five-star meal for me except for 1 substantial blemish: their famous duck. Everyone at the table ordered it because they claim it has been on the menu for 50 years. The preparation was indeed epic, involving a special vice to "juice" the duck. But the result was served way too cool, with pallid (almost clammy) skin that left much to be desired. The garnishes were nice, but two of our five diners did not finish the dish, and having had the duck at Eleven Madison Park a few weeks ago, this variant left a lot to be desired. The desserts are well executed - particularly the fruit-based seasonal sorbets and house made fudge - but it's hard to recover from a main event that disappoints. All-in-all, a great experience, but 4 stars not 5.

Yelp
This may be the best meal I've ever had. We had one of the tasting menus and it was exquisite. The wine menu was impressive and extremely reasonable. Everyone was so nice and gracious. An experience not to be missed. Donna
