D.B. Cooper mystery solved!
I think I know what happened to Dan "DB" Cooper who hijacked Northwest Orient Airlines Flight 305 from Portland to Seattle on Thanksgiving eve, November 24, 1971. He opened (or inspired, you be the judge) a small-batch craft brewery in Vancouver, Washington.
That microbrewery is Victor-23 Craft Brewery named after the flight path from Seattle to Reno which the airplane was on when the legendary antihero parachuted from the back with $200,000 in negotiable American currency ... and landed in brewing history.
I tried 3 India Pale Ales, 2 appetizers, and left 1 happy hostage of great service at the bar, hefty food, and intoxicating booze.
* Mischief Maker Hazy IPA (5 stars)
At 6.2% abv and 15 ibu, this cloudy New England-style brew is mischievous without being devious thanks to candied fruit hints from lemon, grapefruit, lime, peach, apricot, and papaya.
* Rip Cord Hazy IPA (4.5 stars)
Pull this seasonal beer and float safely away from sobriety thanks to 6% abv and fruity flavors like pineapple, grapefruit, tangerine, melon, and orange blossom.
* Skyjacker IPA (4.5 stars)
Available year round, the Victor 23 flagship IPA hops into your liver with a tinge of grapefruit, papaya, Meyer lemon, rose, and pine at 65 ibu and 6.5% abv.
* Battered Fish Taco (3 stars)
Just $4 each, the fish taco wasn't expensive. It also wasn't great. Nor was it horrible. It was a simple and safe 3-star soft taco made with Northwest-style fried fish.
* Pork Carnitas Nachos (4 stars)
A half order was huge and only $8. Since I was drinking and nibbling alone, I'm glad I didn't get the regular size of this baked pile of thick tortilla chips and thicker cheddar-style cheese topped with chunks of pork, sour cream, and jalapeno slices.
The food wasn't 5 stars while the beers were almost 5 stars, but Victor-23 Craft Brewery is 5 stars because I had a great time, enjoyed the brews, and the service was sooo friendly. Most importantly, I can rest tonight knowing I personally solved the D.B. Cooper case. Where do I collect the reward?
