My business trip in Rochester wrapped up with dinner at Victoria's. Our host, a local, selected it since our conference was taking place at the Kahler. We took a short trip upstairs and found a bustling dinner crowd.
It was old school but with a level of energy that says; "This joint still has what it takes." The full menu offered anything an Italian food lover could ever want. Our large party ordered an array of dishes, pasta, lasagna, veal, fettuccine and even a salad.
I selected something, which I couldn't even begin to pronounce (spaghetti noodles sauteed in olive oil, kalamata olives, and tomatoes) and subbed out meat sauce instead of the customary marinara it normally comes with.
Wait-I almost forgot the bread, which you CANNOT forget. It was amazing, infact, I probably could have just eaten bread all night long. A nice crisp crunch outside-soft inside and warm. This is everything a bread maker and a fan of bread wants.
The large restaurant was hopping, a large kids birthday party was near us, he was wearing a fire hat-who knows why, and it appeared that the kids ordered up pizzas which looked pretty good.
I didn't get a Godfather vibe and it certainly and most definitely is not an Italian chain restaurant, thank heavens! This joint is solid old school and better.
Check Victoria's out when you are in downtown Rochester, be prepared to be sleepy after consuming a plateful of excellent Italian fare and consider unbuttoning your top shirt button, donning a gold chain and nugget ring and wearing your hair all slicked back just for the fun of it.
