Yelp
The coffee shop is a nice, funky space, with artwork by local artists on display, so on one of my many visits here, I took down the posted contact information for local artists to connect and potentially get their art displayed. My friend, whose work has been accepted into juried shows, emailed the contact and heard ... nothing. I stopped in again today, and since I noticed there was new artwork on display, I inquired with the staff about who my friend should contact. I was told, the artists are booked a year out. Okay, but that wasn't my question. Let's say my friend, a local and recognized artist, would like to show her art here in a year, who should she contact? The staff member grudgingly offered and email address, which she typed into my phone so I could be sure it was correct and ... "the recipient does not exist."
Thanks, that was really helpful.
I know what you're thinking: that's a pretty rude way to treat a customer, but I'm not an artist, what's their coffee like? Since you're asking this question in the greater Seattle area, allow me to assure you that you have better options, and lots of them. Today I ordered a vanilla latte, and it tasted of neither vanilla nor espresso- it was downright watery. On a recent visit, I had a similar experience with the latte I ordered, and worse, the bag of house-roasted beans I purchased wouldn't brew into a beverage that tasted of anything other than mud when I got it home.
I tried, I really did. I believe in supporting local businesses and go out of my way to support local businesses that in turn support local artists - and my belief that this was one of those businesses kept me from posting a deservedly poor review on the quality of their coffee. But there is something decidedly dishonest here, in my opinion, so I'll take my coffee dollars elsewhere and suggest you do the same. This is Seattle, for crying out loud - there are too many good options out there to waste the money here.
Editing to add: This review was only up three days when I received a profanity-laden, insult-filled message from a photoless "new user." Avoid this place!
