14 Portland Restaurants With Brilliant Beer Lists | Eater Portland

"Victory Bar serves up more then a dozen taps and 50-some bottles of beer with a focus on strange and rare beers amid a dim interior with a retro feel and an Orwellian 1984 theme. The spatzle is the dish to order and comes in five versions, along with other drinking-friendly food options like bacon cheese fries with smoked cheddar and beer sauce, or the O’Brien grilled corned beef sandwich." - Pechluck Laskey

Service - Tiff was amazing and fast and friendly! She was flying around the bar area taking care of people with perfection! Food - See the videos and images but don't leave with trying the hash browns ! They should be famous for them! Seriously... Delicious! Enjoy!

The food was pretty good and the service was above average. The Chipotle Panini was fair and lacked much flavor. The chicken was overcooked, but the fries were crispy and delicious. The crock of French Onion soup on the other hand was amazing and may be the best I’ve tasted. It was full of flavor, had large onion slices, and was it was topped with an abundance of cheese. I heard this place was very good for watching sporting events so I will update this review if I return for an Eagles or Phillies game.

Google
The food was very good, but nothing special. Our server was good and very nice. The atmosphere was OK. It was around 6:30 pm, and there was a kid's birthday going on in an adjacent room, so there was a lot of yelling and screaming. Kids being kids. On one hand, the place is cool because it's a place where you can have dinner with the family or watch a Phillies game, hang out with friends after a round of golf, or have an 8 year old's birthday party. On the other hand, it's like they don't have an identity. I would definitely go back.

First time here so wasn't sure what to expect. As we walked in it had a diner feel. The friendly host and hostess asked if a booth was fine. I asked what other types of seats do you have? The gentleman said there is bar seating and high tops, and in the second bar there is live music...he then said follow me and took us on a walk to show us. The place is huge. There is a spot for Sunday brunch the happens every weekend. The first bar is quieter than the second bar which was added within the past year. This one during warmer months had roll-up doors. They also have an outdoor seating. The new bar has live music and a great vibe. Plenty of TV's at both to watch the games. Happy our until 7pm all week!! Great prices, very good food and great staff. Breakfast menu served all day!

We went on a Saturday afternoon. They were at about 25% capacity. The food was fine. The staff was friendly. My pet peeve is running out of something to drink and we did. It wasn't until the end of our meal, when we asked for boxes, we're we asked if we wanted anything else to drink.

Google
Food was pricey, but the sweet potato fries were very good. I’d come back for them. The strawberry daiquiri you can barely taste and liquor in. I don’t recommend them. The chicken pot stickers I got were disgusting.

Google
if I could give zero stars I absolutely would. This was probably the worst meal I barely ate in my life. I tried to go to a nice lunch with my mom, she got a turkey panini and I got penne alla vodka with chicken. To say my pasta was inedible is an understatement. It smelled like puke and tasted like rotten cheese and ketchup. It was somehow watery and crusty at the same time. My mother's panini was made with white bread despite being advertised as ciabatta, and was dripping with foul smelling sauce that definitely was not the "chipotle aioli". All of this on top of the world's slowest service when there was 2 occupied tables in the whole restaurant. I'm regretting even paying for this abysmal meal.

Google
Always had a tasty meal whether brunch or dinner. Attentive and alert staff. Good beer selection with fully stocked bar. Some early bird food selections, prices are reasonable. Have returned time and time again.

Yelp
This event took place on Monday June 30th , 2025 around 5pm EST. My fiance and I flew in from the Pacific Northwest on June 28th and I wanted my fiance to meet my family in person. I brought him home to South Jersey on June 29th and I requested that we make plans to go out to dinner. My cousin suggested that we meet up at Victory Bar & Grill. WOW what a treat it was to eat here! I also want to add just how surprised that on the Monday before the holiday how not crowded it was. One thing that I absolutely love about east coast food is the seafood! My fiance had the mussels with the white garlic sauce pasta and I had the Maryland crab cake portabella mushroom salad. Our appetizer was the Tarantino's mini panzarottis. Everything was so incredibly delicious and cooked to perfection! I also really have to thank our server for putting up with all of the little ones that we had with us that evening. We laughed , shared stories and took photos during and after our meals. Thank you so much to the staff for making my first dining experience back home in almost ten years so unforgettable! Also, my family absolutely loved my fiance and welcomed him in with open arms. Victory Bar & Grill will always hold a special place in my heart.

Yelp
Good sports bar. Huge menu, and a huge outdoor bar when the weather is nice. Burgers are solid, and so are the wings and crab bread.

Yelp
Stopped by for lunch. Diner vibe with a large extended bar attached to an older diner section. Friendly , attentive service. I had the Cajun chichen sandwich which was tasty overall but could have used a slightly more agreeable attitude fri rh

Yelp
Decent food (think like Applebees but diner style, dependable favorites). Wish the outside was open more frequently. If it has to be in or out, ppl would rather be out. Due to location, I'm sure I'll be back.

Yelp
The food was good burger had great flavor, F.F nicely done. The restaurant was clean and the bathroom was clean. The food came out fast and correct. The service was good.

Yelp
We stopped for lunch today after not eating here for a few years. There wasn't a wait and service was great. But the food was not good. We ordered a crab cake sandwich, onion rings, buffalo chicken cheesesteak, kid's pizza, and fries. None of it was very good. The bill with tip was $100 for 2 adults and 1 child to eat a mediocre (at best) lunch. We were disappointed.

Yelp
Came and sat on the patio. Beautiful addition to the main dining/bar area. Loved the all window garage doors. Probably a great spot when weather is nice! Food came out quick and was your typical bar/restaurant food. Onion rings were amazing, nachos were plentiful, the wings were tasty, and the beers were cold! Their menu is pretty big so looking forward to trying some more stuff next time!

Yelp
Walking in the doors it has a simple "diner" vibe but to the left opens up to a big wrap around bar the seats easily 20+ people. TV's have sports on and the bartenders are wonderful. My black & bleu burger came medium rare and perfect with a few slices of bacon on it as well. Packed with flavor and juice with coleslaw on the side. My girlfriend's panini had thick cuts of chicken with crispy bread. Side of chipotle mayo to dip into made that sandwich. Fries were salty & crispy. Thick cut style 7/10

Dave S.

Yelp
The menu is extensive but I always get the same things here. Their turkey club is the best I've ever had, packed with turkey, bacon, juicy tomato. Comes with perfectly cooked fries and cole slaw. I get it with their cream of turkey soup or tomato and rice, both delicious. My other favorite: their HUGE "Thanksgiving dinner" (what it's called on the menu). You get plenty and it's good and the stuffing is out of this world. My wife gets something different every time we go and enjoys it. But I stick with my favorites. Don't know why I even look at the menu. Never disappointed here. We go at "off" times and it's quiet and relaxing.

Yelp
Fantastic dinner at Victory this evening. Place was full but service was quick. Food came within 15 minutes of sitting down! Ambience was decent (loud) but fun. Baltimore Vs Philly pre-season expo was on all TV's with large crowds of folks. Garlic pork sandwich was amazing, and their Cole slaw is on point with just the right amount of vinegar!

Yelp
I must say I'm very surprised by my experience at Victory. This was my first time here even though I drive by occasionally. I never thought of stopping in until recently as family friends have been telling us how much they enjoy it there. I was invited out to eat with a couple of friends on Saturday night around 6pm. It was busy as they were hosting some sort of event (was told it's normally not this busy) but we were seated immediately in the enclosed patio. Melanie, our server, was fantastic all night. She was frequently making rounds to all of her tables asking if we needed anything, how things were, etc. She'd let us know she'd be right with us if she was walking by but was getting something for another table. She was also patient and professional with me as I had questions about the menu and beer list. Victory has Happy Hour every day from 11am-7pm. No, that is not a typo. Happy hour includes $4 house wines (not the greatest wine by any stretch but you cannot beat the price) select $3.25 beers, and $8 select appetizers. The craft beer list also has to be one of the best I've seen in the area! All draft craft beers were priced at $6 which I was pleasantly surprised by. I had an Axe & Arrow Ooh La La White Stout, a glass of house Pinot Noir, and a Carton Boat Session IPA. First time having both beers which I very much enjoyed. Our table also ordered a few White Claws and thought they were priced more than fairly compared to other South Jersey establishments. We started with fried pickle spears and fried mozzarella, both of which seemed to be breaded in house and not purchased packed and frozen. May have even been the best fried pickles I've had. We also ordered wings, a Breakfast of Champions burger (cooked medium rare), and a chicken wrap. Fried eggs are one of my favorite burger toppings and I was sold by the addition of bacon and pork roll. The wrap and burger were both served with fries, and plenty of them. No complaints about the food. Burger was cooked nicely, was told the wings and wrap were good as well. Despite the huge menu, the food did not lack quality. Portion sizes were generous and prices were reasonable. I thought the food was very good for being a bar. Our experience was positive all around from the service, prices, food quality, and serving sizes. The enclosed patio didn't really have a bar-type feel to it. Lighting was bright and it had more like a family style cafe feel to it. I'm hoping to sit in the bar area next time. I cannot believe this was my first time here but it definitely won't be my last. I already have plans to head back this coming Friday, not even a week after my first visit. I'll be looking forward to trying something new, but the fried pickles are already on our list for this upcoming visit.

Joseph M.

Yelp
We have had two parties here and have been here about a dozen times. The waitresses have been very good and accommodating. But the people in the back not sure if they can't read English or don't understand English. But I hate pickles and have asked for no pickles every single time I've been there and have never had a meal without a pickle. The worst thing is each time you send it back they send it back two minutes later saying they fix the issue by taking the pickle off, even though the juice is all over everything. So I cannot even tell you how the food taste because everything I ever had there taste like pickles, which is disgusting to me. The worst thing is it's very close to my house. Very nice place but the people in the back are absolutely horrible.

Yelp
Great! Great! Food! Ice cold Guinness on tap! The service is top notch! Ask for Anna. Anna is very friendly, attentive and professional not to mention very good at her job! This is a great bar with excellent food and service! Bring the family!

Yelp
Always great. Service and food. Tried something different with a blue cheese burger. Excellent. We've never had a bad meal heat. Rueben is delicious

Christine P.

Yelp
I have been there 3 times and this will be my last. We went for the breakfast buffet. This is the second time the food was NOT hot. Luke warm at best. The bagel was as stale as a hockey puck!! The waitress was rude. Would it kill her to put a smile on her face or ask us how our food was? She never asked us if we wanted another cup of coffee. This is a bar and not a place to go if you are looking for a good breakfast buffet! Won't be back again!

Nina B.

Yelp
We had a casual gathering of approximately 30 friends that had not been together for many years. I can not say enough about how accommodating the management and our server Matt was. In my estimation they went above and beyond!! Our event was in their Patio room. It is a large room, and everyone was able to move around and mingle. The food was great, and was served promptly as people ordered. I was happy that with a group this size, everyone was happy with their food and service. We will return, and I certainly will request our server Matt!!

Yelp
Great local bar with excellent food selection and super friendly people. Only spent time at the bar with Laura, she was the perfect bar tender. Extremely friendly and definitely knew what she was doing. Watched her make multiple drinks, even though I was drinking Coors Light. Highly recommend coming here
google avatar

Yelp
Got the steak, regretted it. Fell apart like ground beef and was flavorless. "Caramelized" onions and mushrooms weren't caramelized. Vegetable medley was undercooked and also flavorless. Was surprised that the baked potato wasn't burnt or something. I would just order "safer" bar food like maybe chicken wings or a burger or pizza.

Yelp
The food was good, the waitress was great... HOWEVER, both myself and my companion have severely compromised immune systems- at 4ish we went to eat on their open air patio which was at less than 20% occupancy. The bar and some tables were occupied and we wanted to sit by the opening, away from people - where it was entirely empty -the hostess acquiesced and let us sit at a six person table. After our food had been served, the owner, Andy, approached us and asked us if we had asked to be seated there. Then told us that we were "killing him" by taking a large table, again it was early, our food had been served and all of the similar sized tables except for one were unoccupied... and though the place was starting to pick up steam it wasn't even 5:pm. We told him we would quickly eat and be gone before it was an inconvenience. Then he told me to add the sauce for the sweet potato fries - I said, with cheer "I was allergic to things, What was in it? "To which he replied "whatever" and made a dismissive wave of his hand turning his back on us and walking away. While we finished eating, I watched him - a man old enough to have grandkids that knew better, be less than pleasant to his waitstaff and to see them physically flinch when walking near him. We were gone before the restaurant had filled the other large tables. I have NEVER IN MY LIFE FELT LESS WELCOME BY AN OWNER OF A RESTAURANT!!

Sue L.

Yelp
We came here for lunch on a Friday. It was pretty busy but not crazy. We were hoping to find another place to come for a good meal and decent service. We were sorely disappointed. I ordered the flounder sandwich which was relatively tasteless. Even adding tartar sauce did not help. The cole slaw tasted just a smidge sour. Only the fries were good. My husband ordered a grilled chicken sandwich. It came with bacon but no lettuce or tomato. He said it was dry and tasteless. The service was spotty. Our waitress spent a lot of time talking to what I assume are regulars. She finally came over as we were finishing our meal. A little late to ask if everything was ok. With PJ Whelihan's and Dooney's not that far away, we'll forgo Victory and stick to the tried and true.
google avatar

Jea P.

Yelp
The service could be better at times, but the food is really good! Some favorites are the hickory burger, old bay fries that come with cheese sauce, and buffalo chicken dip. They have an extensive menu with lots of options.
google avatar

Anthony C.

Yelp
Love this place. We go for breakfast frequently as well as lunch and DoorDash for dinner. The owners are always friendly and make you feel welcome. The food is always good and it's a great place to just hang out on the deck.

Thomas D.

Yelp
Extensive menu , great service but food was on the mediocre side... Prob won't be a return trip.

Yelp
Best omelette in the tri-county area. I typically drive about an hour to Ocean County for the tastiest omelette I've ever had. This one is a tie and only five minutes from our house. Did extra American cheese, tomato, onion, and Canadian bacon. Our server was fantastic and the Bloody Mary was super yum. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
ABSOLUTE PERFECTION!!!! My family had came here on a Saturday night and we didn't know what to expect. Both the new addition and the old room in the inside were well designed and spacious. The menu had TONS of options ranging from breakfast to dinner. The table ordered chicken nachos, pretzel bites, and onion wings as appetizers as well as sandwiches, burgers, and pizza for dinner. The food came out relatively quick considering we had 8 people and the service was amazing. Overall, great place for friends and family!! Would totally recommend!

Linda C.

Yelp
We were pleased with our overall experience. The manager accommodated our request to reserve a spot for us during a Sunday brunch. We spoke several times to confirm the date, time, and number of guests. The area was already set up for us upon arrival. Our waitress was attentive to the group of nineteen and the many requests thrown her way. There were many options to choose from. The guests from our party were happy and enjoying themselves as we celebrated the guests of honor and 63 years of marriage. The prices were reasonable. We would definitely come back.

Yelp
The annoying thing about ordering from grub hub is if the restaurant screws up your SOL. I placed a small order for 2 people and people still manage to not read the order correctly. I was missing a salad that was supposed to come with my entree. I'm also not sure why there's a Notes section on Grubhub if the restaurant doesn't even bother to read it. I asked to sub fries for double vegetables and a side of honey mustard and, of course, never received those either.

Yelp
I'm a regular there but won't be anymore. First of all the the food is not great and the service could be better. They usually bring out the appetizers one minute before the dinner is served. Their beer lines mustn't be cleaned as their beer taste funny. Secondly, the manager has an huge ego and makes the customer think they are wrong. When question why the kitchen closed during a big sports night he said it always closes early and we should have known that and to make it worse he continued to berate us. If the kitchen closes early (8:30) why then didn't the bartenders call last orders due to kitchen closing like all other bars. He does not know how to treat a customer let alone a regular patron. Since the management doesn't care about their patrons I don't care about supporting them. We're off to another local like Gators, Otts or Dooneys.

William S.

Yelp
Came to the patio bar on a Sunday at about 5. Bar was about 1/2 full. Sat for 10 minutes while the bartender chatted with other customers. No eye contact, no "I'll be with you in a minute", nothing. I stood up and said thank you and at that point the bartender had a big problem, as I left. Really crappy service.

Sam M.

Yelp
Still crap! .. spare some sauce? Second time getting wings here and there's practically nothing on them!? Is it lazy staff? Are you cheap? Poorly managed? Don't care? Do you think this is how it's supposed to be done? every time I get food here it sucks. Do you send leftover wings when people order for delivery?!? I'm genuinely curious as to wtf is going on as this isn't just a one time situation.

Lisa M.

Yelp
most of the time I come here , they mess up my food order. as big of a menu they have , I always seemed to be disappointed in the food. It never seems to be what's on the menu & manager / server never seemed to care about the dissatisfaction.
google avatar

Mike P.

Yelp
Pizza is excellent. Compares to any good pizzeria. Thin crispy crust great taste. Also had French onion soup and Buffalo chicken salad which were great. Reasonable prices and an extensive menu.

Brett M.

Yelp
Breakfast wasn't great , so I never came back for the buffet after coming here for many years with my family . I stopped in at night for a few cocktails with friends at the bar , but it was a super rough crowd .

Shirley D.

Yelp
I stopped in around 3:00 Pm on a Friday with two friends. The dining room was empty except two other people at a table. We ordered our food soup, french fries, pizza steak, wings and a meatloaf platter. The soup came out hot and very good. The rest of the food came out barely warm. The pizza steak had some cold hard cheese on the bottom with no pizza sauce, also the mild buffalo sauce I ordered for the wings on the side was barbecue sauce. The waitress disappeared for about 15 minutes as I was sitting there waiting for my food to be corrected finally she came and gave me the sauces by then everything was cold. We ate but was very disappointed.

Yelp
Not bad the food came quick the nachos are good it's just the pasta isn't too good here and the bathroom stinked overall the food was good and I recommend the nachos

Yelp
I would've given this place 4 stars, but I took away a star for lack of air conditioning. It was hot when we went on a Monday evening for dinner! It was my first time here, my boyfriend's second time here. It's great that the restaurant is so spacious and has plenty of seating. Some of our friends love this place for sports/UFC fights. They have different specials every week: Monday - $5 Burgers Tuesday - $2 tacos/$3 coronas Wednesday - BOGO wings Thursday - All Day Happy Hour Their menu is huge. Lots of specialty drinks, lots of apps, sandwiches, and various dishes to pick from. I'm not sure when their happy hour is but they have $2 drafts, $2 bottles, $3 well drinks and house wines, and $5 apps. If you have NJCBC Card then they have rotating specials every month, for July it's $4 craft beers all day every day! The boyfriend was very happy. We both got the Breakfast of Champions Burger. DELISH!!! It comes with fries already, you can upgrade to waffle fries or sweet potato fries for $1.50 more. I was so stuffed from the burger! It had pork roll, bacon, and a fried egg. AMAZE BALLS! The food came out fairly quickly too. We sat the the bar so the service was good. I cannot wait to go back!

Robin B.

Yelp
Terrific casual restaurant. Good food, great service, clean...one of my family's go-to places.
google avatar

Kym B.

Yelp
Victory Grill is a decent enough place. The Hostess was a bit abrasive, but I tried to overlook that. The menu has a wide variety of lunch/dinner selections. There is a nice breakfast buffet for $11 on the weekends, which I've enjoyed. There is a large selection of craft beers if your into that.
google avatar

Ken S.

Yelp
We go here on a regular basis now that the world is returning to normal. My picky wife is always happy with the food and service. The owner is usually there making sure things are running smoothly and even works the buffet line. Very approachable and friendly.

Briggs C.

Yelp
This bar is fantastic, double cheeseburger is wonderful with that sesame bun. Have to give a shout out to our bartender Colin. that guy, he gets it! Exactly how service should be!

Yelp
Just left. Bartender was terrible. She was not that busy and moved at a snail's pace. Just wandering here and there and definitely wandered right past us numerous times. She brought out food for people sitting near us. After a few minutes the woman had to ask for her salad dressing and the bartender laughed and had no priority to get the dressing. She wandered around a bit more. We were still waiting to order our lunch. Finally, my husband asked if we could order. The bartender did not even acknowledge the request so we waited some more. She casually strolled over to take our order and we said just forget it. We left. She thought it was funny. We didn't. Will be a while before we go there again. Oh and this just in, the bartender and her friends are now sending me very nasty messages through yelp. I'm sure her manager will enjoy viewing them tomorrow.

Yelp
First time I ordered ... love the foods and I think I ordered too much and I didn't expected the portion was a lot.. but it's ok.. I ate the leftover the next day.... Definitely recommended!! Definitely gotta say KUDO to elderly active gentleman delivered to my home...very sweet person!!! .

Yelp
I heard a lot about this restaurant and in a good way. Being in town on business I had to make it a point to eat there. Let me tell you, the atmosphere was nice and the staff was welcoming. I ordered the Cheesesteak Stromboli and it was delicious. I could only eat half of it. And just look at their desserts I felt I gained 10 pounds. Looking forward to coming back and order something else from the menu.
google avatar

Angie R.

Yelp
My husband and I eat here weekly and have been for years. The wait staff are all very good. The beer is always cold and the food is always delicious. The atmosphere/ambience is comfortable, welcoming, and friendly. Lots of sitting options-bar area or restaurant section. Try it, you'll like it. :)
google avatar

Kirsten L.

Yelp
Visited with my husband and son and asked to be seated in the bar area with Katelyn - she's the BEST. We ordered a bunch of appetizers from the bar happy hour menu. Everything was yummy-especially the fries! Katelyn made an extra-special brownie sundae for my son and I to share, that was sinfully delicious.
google avatar

Yelp
We went there for the mummers Mardi gras but we couldn't sit unless we had to eat. So they ran out of the cherry ale and there we bench seats and I could see the show. The fries were going. Don't get the Mac and cheese which my friend and I got because there was nothing much selection, it had no flavor. The waitress help us out and we got two different things I got the wings which was garlic and heat which I couldn't see myself eating it and was so nice. I been to the on across the way. It is was better then here. If it wasn't for the band playing I can't see myself going back.

Yelp
Terrible food sent back three things. Staff was nice even worse than Roma's pizza and I didn't think anything was worse than that dump.

Yelp
Came here for an early dinner on a Saturday, around 4 ish and was seated right away. Waitress was friendly and the food was solid. Nice big portions. Ordered the app sampler. Huge motzz triangles, two big potatoes skins, wings (which were petty Delish would def order as a actual meal), and two huge chicken tenders. I had the thanksgiving dinner and it was pretty on point, homemade stuffing, potato, veg, plenty of turkey and gravy, a side of cranberry. It was everything I wanted or to be. My table had the crab fries, panzzorotti bites (which were pretty big), grilled cheese, and chicken parm. All of which had no complaints. Will definitely be coming back!
