I must say I'm very surprised by my experience at Victory. This was my first time here even though I drive by occasionally. I never thought of stopping in until recently as family friends have been telling us how much they enjoy it there. I was invited out to eat with a couple of friends on Saturday night around 6pm. It was busy as they were hosting some sort of event (was told it's normally not this busy) but we were seated immediately in the enclosed patio.
Melanie, our server, was fantastic all night. She was frequently making rounds to all of her tables asking if we needed anything, how things were, etc. She'd let us know she'd be right with us if she was walking by but was getting something for another table. She was also patient and professional with me as I had questions about the menu and beer list.
Victory has Happy Hour every day from 11am-7pm. No, that is not a typo. Happy hour includes $4 house wines (not the greatest wine by any stretch but you cannot beat the price) select $3.25 beers, and $8 select appetizers. The craft beer list also has to be one of the best I've seen in the area! All draft craft beers were priced at $6 which I was pleasantly surprised by. I had an Axe & Arrow Ooh La La White Stout, a glass of house Pinot Noir, and a Carton Boat Session IPA. First time having both beers which I very much enjoyed. Our table also ordered a few White Claws and thought they were priced more than fairly compared to other South Jersey establishments.
We started with fried pickle spears and fried mozzarella, both of which seemed to be breaded in house and not purchased packed and frozen. May have even been the best fried pickles I've had. We also ordered wings, a Breakfast of Champions burger (cooked medium rare), and a chicken wrap. Fried eggs are one of my favorite burger toppings and I was sold by the addition of bacon and pork roll. The wrap and burger were both served with fries, and plenty of them. No complaints about the food. Burger was cooked nicely, was told the wings and wrap were good as well. Despite the huge menu, the food did not lack quality. Portion sizes were generous and prices were reasonable. I thought the food was very good for being a bar.
Our experience was positive all around from the service, prices, food quality, and serving sizes. The enclosed patio didn't really have a bar-type feel to it. Lighting was bright and it had more like a family style cafe feel to it. I'm hoping to sit in the bar area next time. I cannot believe this was my first time here but it definitely won't be my last. I already have plans to head back this coming Friday, not even a week after my first visit. I'll be looking forward to trying something new, but the fried pickles are already on our list for this upcoming visit.
