"The chef’s name at Vidalia is Sal, a fact he’ll almost certainly tell you himself sometime between when you open your first bottle of wine and finish your last slice of cheesecake. Sal’s inevitable table approach is like every other aspect of dinner at this BYOB Italian spot in Lawrenceville in that it’s predictable and thoroughly enjoyable. You’ve seen all of the dishes on the menu here at countless other Italian spots in Jersey, and yet that doesn’t make the crispy, bechamel-filled baked lasagna any less of a must-order, or the small dining room and new outdoor courtyard any less ideal for a casual date night." - Matt Tervooren

I recently Booked a private event at Vidalia to have my sister‘s bridal shower. The owner Sal was easy to work with and very accommodating. The venue was perfectly set up for our arrival and everything promised was delivered. The Outdoor space was already beautifully designed, so it required minimal decorations to achieve an elevated look. Vidalia had the perfect charm we were looking for! The staff was attentive and kind. They even went above and beyond to accommodate a food allergy that I did not know about. On the fly, they tweaked the fixed menu to provide the guest with another meal. I would absolutely book here again. The food was delicious and it has great ambience. 10/10!! If you’re looking for a place to eat dinner or a venue for a small party, consider this place a slam dunk! It will not disappoint.

Had a great dinner with my friend in back yard patio area as it was great cool night. Quick great service, good atmosphere, and tasty food. Beet Salad - 5/5 - on point, has nuts for crunch and texture. Vidalia loaf - 5/5 - the amazing sesame bread with grilled vegetables. Chicken Picanta - 4/5 - chicken was little tough. Good flavor. Cacio E Pepe - 4.5/5 - stick to your bones good. Need more black pepper. Side: Long hot pepper and mushrooms: 5/5 - this is amazing dishes. Sweet, sour and spicey. Have bread for dipping with you. Dessert: Limoncello cake - fresh, mosit and to the point. This is BYOB. Great local Italian restaurant. Perfect for night out.

I'll be a regular! Interesting recipes, fresh ingredients, and great service. My cup of tea. Enjoyed artichokes in egg battered franchise, creme Brule pie. Best I've ever had...perfect custard consistency 😋

Vidalia Restaurant in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, is a pleasant Italian bistro with a fine selection of seafood, chicken, veal, soups and salads. Like its namesake, many of the dishes feature Vidalia onions, such as the caramelized onion stuffed with fennel sausage and roasted red peppers, topped with melted mozzarella cheese (although very tempted, I decided to save that dish for another day, perhaps). Our party arrived for a late, 8 p.m. dinner. The dining room was completely filled, which makes reservations a must. Although the place was filled, the acoustics were such that we didn’t have to shout over each other to be heard. Unbeknownst to me, the place is a BYOB establishment. Fortunately our friends were prepared with a bottle of red and a bottle of white, as Billy Joel so famously sang. I ordered the cipolla vidalia for a starter. The naturally sweet Vidalia onion soup included crostini bread croutons and melted cheese blend. There wasn’t much bread in the soup (which was fine with me), but there was plenty of onions and cheese. TThe soup was fantastic, the temperature perfect, which allowed me to savor every spoonful without burning my tongue and mouth. Another starter, the Insalata di Caesar was also good, with crisp romaine lettuce mixed with foccacia crostini and shavings of parmesan tossed with homemade caesar dressing. The salad was light and perfect for whetting the appetite. The Vitello Saltimbocca was exquisite, topped with prosciutto and sage, and smothered in mozzarella, with fresh sage and a creamy white wine sauce, along with a side of sautéed spinach. The sweetness of the wine didn’t quite balance the saltiness of the prosciutto, but it didn’t stop me from enjoying my meal, and left me satisfied. The Pasta Genovese, served with penne pasta prepared with peas, oyster mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes, and asparagus in a garlic mascarpone cream sauce, was fine. The pasta was served al dente, but the sauce was a bit bland, despite the garlic. Overall, it was a nice dinner with friendly service. The restaurant was clean and inviting. One will not leave hungry, as we decided to forego dessert. This is a perfect venue for date night!

From out of town and took a chance on stopping in. Wow was I surprised! One of best dishes I’ve ever had the pesto cream sauce was perfect, mussels complimented it well and the other seafood was delicate and delicious! Service was a little slow but I was in no rush anyway. Highly recommended

Came here with my bff. I guess my expectations were too high. First the good part: the service was excellent, and the place is very quaint and comfortable. Now the bad: sadly the food wasn’t good. At least mine wasn’t. I had the insalata di mela/salad, which was okay. Then the shrimp Francese. The batter was soggy and greasy and the food came out just warm, it hot. The dessert, we shared, and it left a lot to be desired as well. My friend had the beetroot salad which was okay, but she did say the Osso Buco was good.

If you ask me other Italian restaurants should really be taking lessons from these folks. Everything from the atmosphere which is just so welcoming to their unbelievable dishes and for what you get very reasonable prices. Both indoor and outdoor seating is available which is very nice depending on the season. We love that this place is sort of off the beaten path on a side road because it ties into the whole theme of this tiny eatery that packs a big punch in the tummy. Great business and great contribution to the community. Highly recommend!
