Vida’s Thai Food: Moose, Mismatched Spice, and Modest Vibes We stopped by Vida’s Thai Food while exploring Homer, and it’s in a great, easy-to-find location just off one of the main streets. Bonus: while we were sitting up front, a moose ran by. I mean—what better Alaskan dinner entertainment could you ask for? Vibe: The interior has some lovely traditional Thai decor, but overall the atmosphere felt a little sparse. Some background music or more intentional ambiance would really help bring the space to life. It’s got potential but could use a bit more flavor in the vibe department. Food: I ordered the bamboo soup and my wife ordered a different soup. Here’s the kicker: I’m not a spice fan. She is. So we were both confused (and a little amused) when they added heat to my dish and not hers. A spicy surprise when you didn’t ask for it? Not ideal. The broth itself had a decent flavor once I got past the heat, but it took me by surprise. Our son had rice and chicken, which sounded like a safe bet, but the flavors were underwhelming—more “meh” than memorable. Maybe just a miss on this visit, but it didn’t win any tiny tastebuds over this time. Service & Overall: Service was mellow, but everything came out at a reasonable pace. Everyone was friendly, and the space was clean. That counts for a lot. Overall, Vida’s Thai has a nice foundation and the potential to be a local favorite with a few small tweaks: clearer spice control, a bit more atmosphere, and some refinement in flavor. We’ll probably give it another shot down the road; after all, any place where you can eat soup and watch a moose sprint by has its charm. 3.5 stars rounded up for the moose, the decor, and the potential.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Vida's Thai Food, and it was a delightful experience. The Pad Thai was a standout—perfectly balanced with savory flavors and fresh ingredients. The Larb Moo was not much spicy and aromatic, bursting with authentic taste. I also tried the pineapple curry, which was a delicious blend of sweet and savory, with tender chunks of pineapple adding a unique twist. For dessert, the sweet pumpkin in coconut milk was a lovely finish, rich and comforting. Overall, the food was incredibly tasty, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Highly recommend!

Oh my gosh! This is an absolute diamond of a restaurant. We had Teriyaki Chicken, egg rolls, dumplings calamari and basil chicken. The flavors were absolutely magnificent. The sweet and sour sauce was the best I've ever eaten. Service was excellent. Cannot say enough about this place. I was pleasantly surprised.

Came here years ago and loved it so I'm back now with a review! Also had several local brewery staff say this was the Thai spot for Homer. Lime Thai tea is delicious, still haven't seen this too many other places. Fresh/summer rolls were excellent, although I wish I had tried the lime shrimp ones. Pineapple Curry with Salmon was excellent, "mild plus" was just the right heat for me, the flavors were all wonderful, large portion too. Glad I sprang for the salmon. Very fast service and food, so many to go orders were ready to pick up while I was there too.

Amazing food, this place is probably my favorite restaurant in Homer. The yellow curry is a personal favorite, but any of the noodle dishes are quite good as well. The crab ragoon is heavenly, and the iced thai tea is my favorite drink in Homer. I cannot stress how much joy Vita's food gives me. My main issue is that the food can be expensive, but I think it's worth it. I tend to eat here when it's a special occasion only. 10/10, thank you so much for this wonderful restaurant.

For a Friday night dinner, we definitely didn't have long to wait for a table. Sometimes that's not a good indicator when trying something new. We did wait a little bit extra for our food to come out. But it was hot, spicy and flavorful. The restaurant itself was quite a bit warm! Loved the decor and the staff was super nice.

Can I give them 6 stars? Excellent, fresh, hot food. The owners are just lovely and the place was spotless. You can tell they put their heart into it.

Unexpectedly delicious Thai food in Homer. Highly recommend. We found this unassuming restaurant on Yelp and were delighted with the food and service. We got fried dumplings, panang curry, and veggies with rice. All were very good with just the right amount of spice (we ordered medium) in the curry and rice dishes.

This is the best meal we have had during our AK trip which included several Anchorage restaurants over the past week. The red curry was absolutely wonderful.

My partner and I had to come in twice while we were traveling to Homer. I really like that I can get most of the menu vegan friendly just by asking the server. I got the Pad See-Ew and the next time I got the cashew tofu. The best Thai food in Alaska is just 4 short hours away from anchorage

Stopped in for a late lunch with my daughter. Charming little place with a quaint interior right in the heart of Homer. My daughter and I shared the Suki Yaki Noodle Soup with salmon as well as the Green Papaya Salad. Both were delicious, especially the papaya salad! Fresh, crisp and a delicious dressing topped with a couple prawns. The only turn off are the egg shells in the soup. I would recommend the place.

Thai is one of my go to cuisines, so I consider myself a pretty good judge. The food was pretty good. I had the Thai beef basil. Sauce was good, meat was good, but not enough veggies. In fact, my two dinner guests mentioned the same with their entree's. One person mentioned the duck curry was really tasty. BTW, when ordering heat for dinners they were accurate. My medium hit the mark.

we were there in June 2024: great food! we were in Homer on a Holland America cruise but had rented a car as we'd been to the area previously and have some fav places to go. Vida's is now one more fav place for us! the food is great! service is, too. we were there when staff was having their lunch break but that didn't hinder us from getting excellent food & service. highly recommend and will eat there when in Homer again. if we lived around Homer we'd be in weekly!

My dad, friend and I dined here early on a Thursday and were pleasantly surprised by the delicious Thai food served at Vida's. The ingredients were fresh, well prepared and presented nicely. We started with fresh rolls and the papaya salad, then I got the Thai satay salad while my friend got pad see ew and my dad got green curry. I enjoyed the fresh rolls a lot. They were not overly stuffed with noodles but could haves used a bit more shrimp. Some of the rolls were a little heavy on the Thai basil but I didn't mind much. We enjoyed the papaya salad a lot. It was spicy yet also sweet and tangy. The friend shrimp were a nice addition. I really liked the creamy peanut sauce on my chicken which topped very fresh and crisp Romain lettuce. My friend's noodles were very good and well seasoned however she and I were a little distraught that it was slightly over cooked as it was harder to pull apart the noodles. She also ordered it medium spice but her dish was mild. My dad's curry was coconut-y and delicious but could have been a bit more flavorful. His was medium spicy as he had ordered it. Overall our experience at Vida's was good. The ambiance was nice and relaxing. Service was friendly and attentive. Our only complaint was the bench seating, it was very uncomfortable. However, the black chairs were quite comfortable.

Plentiful vegan options, very generous portions and reasonable prices for the amount of food you get.I had the yellow curry with tofu, my partner had the Pad See Ew , and it was all delicious. We ordered medium spice and it was just right for our palettes. Friendly, courteous staff and warm atmosphere; highly recommended.

I don't know how Homer is lucky enough to have multiple excellent Thai restaurants, but this is a great one! Love the spring rolls, dumplings, pad see ew, panang curry fried rice, etc. yum!

Really tasty food and friendly staff. We had chicken pad see ew and massaman curry that were delicious - but we warned their levels are pretty spicy!

Amazing food! The service is great, portions huge, they do fantastic with getting orders correct whether you eat in or take out! Watch out for the moose in the parking lot! :)

I love Thai food and this was good, but not as spicy as expected. I had the drunken noodle and all the ingredients were fresh. We arrived right at 8pm-their closing time, but they were very pleasant and accommodating to make us our takeout. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. The steamed dumplings were tasty. The Curry chicken was ok-could be spicier. We asked for a medium plus spice. The surprise was a dessert of a little peanut butter tort/pie. I took a bite and Gave it to my husband to try and a very little made it back to me.

After scouring Homer for a restaurant that didn't require reservations or have an hour long wait to be seated, we hit upon Vidas Thai Food. When we walked in, it was pretty empty, but the boxes on the table indicated most people went the takeout route. The owner seated us, and told us that they were backed up on takeout orders, and the food would take anywhere from 50-60 minutes to be served. We waited anyway because we were happy to be sitting at all. Food came within 30 minutes (props to the chef!) We ordered the fried tofu appetizer which was incredibly crispy. Calamari was great as well. Tom Kha soup with vermicelli was really good as well. The portions were decent and we all left satisfied. Overall, a nice restaurant, nice decor, stop in if you're hungry for Thai food!

There are not enough great things so say about this place. The services is excellent, the food is made fresh to order and comes out hot. If you're ever in Homer and in the mood for Thai, check this place out.

Always solid food. Online ordering by works well. They text you as soon as food is ready. Great soups and noodles. Penang curry was a bit watery for my preference but still very good!

This food was so flavorful! They were only open for take out but so helpful and kind. The food was ready exactly when they said it would be and the pricing was very reasonable. We were a party of three and each got something different then shared. Excellent! I could hardly wait to wake up the next day and break open those doggie bags. Loved every mouthful!

I wanted this to be better. The people were unbelievably friendly so 5 stars to them. The Phad Thai was just ok and the Panang Curry lacked flavor. I was bummed as I thought it would be better with all the other

After a long day hiking and traveling, we were quickly realizing that nothing stays open late in Homer on Monday for dinner...uh-oh. After much research and searching, we found it...THAI FOOD!! And boy were we glad we did, because it was just what we needed. Our service was wonderful, and our food was delicious (not just because we were starving). We split the tofu fresh rolls (3 for $7.95), tom yum soup (large $11.95), and a green curry with tofu and vegetables ($12.95). We got brown rice ($2.50) instead of white to make health conscious decisions. All of the dishes were served fresh and expertly prepared. A small spice rack was provided to increase the levels of spicy if desired, and you know we do! We also found the restaurant conveniently located next to the Grog Shop, which we visited to get some after dinner adult refreshments. Sweeeeeeet!

For the short stay at homer, we visited this place as this one had more vegetarian options. Our order of pineapple fried rice and chow mein with Thai coffee was good and the service was quick. This place has good ambiance and is good for groups.

A COVID-friendly MUST. Call/pay ahead and the staff will bring your food to your car outside! The food is just so good. My favorites are cashew tofu and vegetarian Tom Kha soup. My husband is vegetarian and he has the most options at Vidas. I'm a carnivore but that damned tofu- It's so good. I am so stoked to have thai food of this quality in a small Alaskan town!

This place had great food, long weight because of a wedding ahead, enjoyed the take out! Keep up the paper boxes!

Vida's is amazing. Service is top notch. Food quality is really really good. Vegan and vegetarian options available. We did both dine-in and take-out and both left us completely happy and satisfied. Highly recommend

This place was a pleasant surprise. We have plenty of excellent Thai places in Chicago, and I admit, I wasn't expecting much from little Homer, Alaska. But this turned out to be some of the best Thai food I'd had, better than most of the restaurants in Chicago. Service was excellent and we had a pleasant dinner. Will definitely drop by here again next time I'm in Homer.

This place is fantastic. With so many places closed, or closing, I appreciate that Vida's is open every day for quick easy pick up. Now the good stuff.. THE FOOD! The wings! Crispy and cooked perfectly. I like spicy so I went with mild and could easily kick it up a notch next time. The Pad Thai noodles were full of flavor and the veggies were fresh. The fried tofu is great snack and the fresh spring rolls are tasty too. They don't shy away from sauce too! Plenty of dipping sauce. Just good dang food!

Food was fresh and hot! Dining wasn't open due to COVID so we brought it home to eat. Spring rolls were great along with the dipping sauce. My son and husband ordered the Chicken Basil w/ medium spice band it was almost too spicy to eat. Every Thai place is different it seems...At our old Thai place in FL they would order hot. Next time they'll know better! I ordered Pad Sew Ew and my daughter ordered the Pad Sew Wen - my meal was bland (no sauce) but hers was really good! Next time I'll get what she had!

I don't know how it is possible that I am the first to review this place. Vida has been around for years, but the restaurant has moved like 5 times, so I guess I'm the first to review the new location. And it is a great location. Right in the middle of town, and what they have done with the space is amazing. Very comfortable, super friendly service, and the food is great. Prices are in line with what one would expect for freshly prepared Thai food in Alaska. Noodle dishes, soups, and curries are all great. The Thai iced tea is a perfect accompaniment to the spicy food.

With most restaurants closed after Labor Day, this place was open! We ordered take out and it was ready very quickly. We had pad kee mao noodles, curry, tom yum soup and crab rangoon. For the two of us, the portions were huge, which we didn't expect in Alaska! We ended up eating the rest the next day. We also ordered it spicy, and were shocked that it was actually spicy (when most other food we ordered only claimed to be). It's not strictly authentic, but it is really, really good.

This place is an incredible find! The interior is gorgeous and clean. The staff are so friendly and attentive. The food is fresh and flavorful and medium level spice is actually spicy! The tofu fresh rolls were so light, fresh and amazing! They had a basil flavor and were very refreshing. The pad Thai and red curry were also great. Highly recommended!!

My parents are vegetarian and they loved the food and we ordered everything veggie and the waitress made the chefs did not put something like oyster sauce in the food.

Absolutely awesome Thai food. The service was friendly and quick, and the ambience and presentation of the food were great. My husband and I stopped in for a late lunch and both had red curry, which we would highly recommend. The Thai iced tea and coffee were also delicious. We live in Anchorage and like to come down to Homer from time to time, and definitely plan on making Vida's a regular stop when we are in town. We can't wait to go back and try more of the dishes on the menu. We highly recommend this place and will definitely be back!

My favorite place in town! Great food, great prices and the owner is super friendly. Highly recommend the green curry and thai iced tea. Also the tom kha soup..who am I kidding? Not a thing I didn't love on that menu
