The VIE Hotel is quite cosy, and the lobby staff are welcoming—they greet you every time they see you, which creates a warm atmosphere. The rooms are also spacious and comfortable.
The breakfast buffet was very good, with a wide variety of cuisines thoughtfully catered for, and the attending staff were all very friendly and attentive.
There were, however, a few downsides. While housekeeping did tidy and clean the main areas well, there was visible grime along the sides of the bathtub every night we stayed, suggesting the bathtub was not thoroughly cleaned.
The hotel pool also lacks any shade, making it too hot to comfortably use during the daytime under the strong Thailand sun.
Location-wise, although the hotel is close to the BTS, it is not a comfortable walking distance to the main shopping malls and shopping districts. In Thailand’s heat, a quoted 10-minute walk feels much longer and involves quite a lot of sweaty walking. The hotel’s tuk-tuk service only runs once an hour and can take a maximum of six passengers, so it’s difficult to rely on it. Booking an Uber or taxi is also challenging, as traffic congestion means it can take at least 30 minutes to reach the shopping malls.
Overall, while the hotel itself is pleasant, we found the location to be the most challenging aspect of our stay.
