We used to stop by Viet Alley from time to time whenever we were in town, but today I came by mainly to pick up some tofu from the shop next door and decided to grab late lunch here as well. They usually have some great specials. I'm not sure if the ownership has changed, but the interior definitely looks different as they replaced the old benches with tables and chairs, and the place feels more updated overall.
Their specials are quite a deal: $10 for about a dozen options. The menu is in Vietnamese, but Google Translate helped a bit, and the waiter was patient, pointing out what each item was and where the specials were listed. Some dishes have English descriptions, which helped since I can't read Vietnamese.
The food came out in about 10 minutes. My pork chop with broken rice was flavorful but I wish it had a few more vegetables, as it leaned a bit dry, though the fish sauce balanced it out nicely. My partner ordered the chicken and spring roll vermicelli bowl, which was a decent portion
For $10 in this economy, that's a solid deal. They also offer a wide variety of drinks, though we didn't try any this time. Viet Alley is located in a strip mall surrounded by several other Vietnamese restaurants, so if you're in the area, it's definitely worth checking out.
