15 Places In Philly To Eat And Drink On South Street

"On a rainy night, there’s nowhere you’d rather be than sitting in front of an oniony bowl of house phở loaded with flank, steak, tripe, and a meatball at Viet Bistro. Outside of warming you up, the 24 noodle soup options here are some of the best in the city and are all $17 and under. Outside of the soups, you can go for things like dumplings, steamed rice dishes, vegetarian combination dishes, and long $7.75 bành mí that you’ll be thinking about all week. With lots of big tables and artwork showing off the Vietnam coastline, it’s an ideal place for a last-minute group dinner where you can just walk in, order anything on the menu, and daydream about your next beach vacation." - candis mclean, alison kessler

Viet Bistro 2 has *the best* vegetarian/vegan pho in the city—hands down! As someone who’s been vegan for years, I can’t begin to explain how rare it is to find a Vietnamese restaurant that serves truly vegan pho (not just veggies tossed into a beef broth). Viet Bistro 2 makes their vegetable broth from scratch, and it is SO flavorful! Just the other week, I was dealing with significant GI upset. None of the over-the-counter or prescription meds I tried made a difference. But one warm, comforting bowl of their Vegetarian Pho? Total game-changer. It soothed my stomach, and I was finally able to get a good night’s rest. My partner ordered the steak and beef pho and loved it just as much. I can also vouch for their tofu rolls! So whether you're vegan, vegetarian, or a meat-eater, Viet Bistro 2 has something delicious for you. If you’re in Philly and haven’t made it to Viet Bistro 2 yet go try their pho! You won’t be disappointed!

It was very quiet for a Sunday afternoon during dinner time, but the food was SO good! We got Bun Bo hue and spring rolls to share but wish we got our own bowls, and everything exceeded our expectations, highly recommend & we will definitely be back!

Very delicious and great customer service! Excellent vegan friendly options, especially the lemongrass tofu, veggie summer rolls, and tofu flat rice noodle dishes.

I’ve always loved the food here. Their broth is the best. They recently redid their storefront and it looks great!

This place is a GEM hiding in plain sight! The food is GREAT. (The space is a former long-time Chinese-American spot, so don't get worried about the atmosphere or service.) Curious for a long time and more, I ordered Summer Rolls (#2), Shrimp Summer Rolls (#3), and Spring Rolls (#1). I ate the first two (two of each per order, fyi) and they were SPECTACULAR. Particularly with the table side brown sauce and chili dips that were available. The Shrimp Summer Rolls are filled with veggies, clear noodles and come with two large shrimp. The wrap of the roll is also clear, so you see what you get. GET THIS. Next, I got three Bahn Mi Hoagies. Pork (#18), Chicken (#19), and Tofu (#20). I had the Pork and Chicken. Like the Rolls, they were GREAT and of course I added the above sides. Regarding the Spring Roll (#3) and the Tofu Banh Mi hoagie (#20), I brought this to a family member who is part Asian and a Pacific Islander. She said the food was *a ten*. Finally, I got Fried Dumplings (#12). Same as above. 😁 At the end of my visit, pleasantries were exchanged in French (the colonial experience) and it was a perfect finishing touch to this awesome, rather unplanned experience. GO HERE. SUPPORT SOUTH STREET. (Photos follow.)

Just give my honest review. I was ordered 2 bawl pho soup with beef meat. The price was not right for both of soup are $33.78 and the guys was prepared was not wearing glove. And his nail all of them was so dirty and his hand so dirty. He keep touching his long hair. When I questioned him about the price. He was ANGRY. I didn’t like the noodle too. So sloppy to prepare. His wife or whoever help him. Throw the lime to the bawl just like basket ball game. I really honestly to give this 1 stars for them

My husband and I probably go here at least once a month - it’s our go-to for a delicious and laid back dinner spot, especially when the weather gets cold. Definitely the best pho I’ve had in the city!
