The Best Phở In San Francisco - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"For anyone who dreams of cows frolicking through fields of hoisin and Sriracha at night, Viet Quan is your happy place. The phở at this relaxed Parkside restaurant is the beefiest in town. One version comes with an entire beef rib and has so many thin rare slices and meatballs it’s hard to take a bite without getting a mouthful of meat. The dining room is typically packed with families and dates, but no one can resist polishing off their bowls as quickly as possible, so you won’t have to wait long." - julia chen 1, ricky rodriguez, patrick wong

The 19 Best Vietnamese Restaurants In SF - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"The beefiest phở in the city can be found at Viet Quan Vietnamese Noodle House. The one at this casual Parkside spot comes with all the usual cow cuts—meatballs and a mound of thin rare slices—plus an entire beef rib that sticks out of the bowl like a flag announcing that this is certified Beef Territory. The other Vietnamese standbys are also well-executed, like the crisp-edged bánh xèo and the thick curry noodle soup. Viet Quan's is a straightforward sit-down, eat, and leave operation, but no one’s stopping you from taking advantage of the endless tea refills and staying awhile." - julia chen 1, ricky rodriguez, patrick wong

Standout dishes were: French Style Black Pepper Beef, BBQ Pork Chop, Beef Rib Pho. The Five Spice Chicken lacked flavor, so would benefit from more seasoning.

Google
Delicious!! So far there was not anything I've ordered that was not good. Been there twice?

Mark L.

Google
We only tried two dishes. French steak with pepper sauce and tomatoes rice - The steak was very tender, 85% of them. Good flavor. On top of salad which they added some home made dressing. Very tasty. The steak came with a lemon based sauce also delightful since I love lemon. I added into the tomatoes rice and made it more appetitive. Crab meat and vermicelli in tomatoes soup - the crab meat ball was very well done. Been to places that it broke apart. This one was done with good texture. Service was excellent. Great attitude, smiling and courteous. I will try this place again for more dishes if I'm in the city craving for Vietnamese food.

Google
There is a separate vegan section on the menu with a good variety of options. Got the combo noodle soup, only size option is large, it's mainly noodles with a fair amount of toppings, would probably get another noodle soup option next time. Also got the BBQ pork and egg roll vermicelli bowl, this was really delicious, flavorful, and fresh. Good option if eating with omnis. Easy to get a table for a large group during the week.

Google
One of my newly discovered (where have I been? Late to the game) places. I come for the ginormous bone marrow dish, the banh xeo (viet crepe) and the shaken beef plates. You really can't go wrong here. They do a superb job with any of their dishes

Google
I ordered the small beef rib pho with thin rice noodles (otherwise the default is ho fun, they also have lai fun). The soup was a bit bland, but it came with a ton of noodles. they have fish sauce in the side, which really helped bring the soup to life! I had them cook the bean sprouts a bit and it helped keep the soup nice and hot. I was sweating towards the end! We also ordered some wings as an appetizer and a plum soda. The plum soda was delicious and I was surprised they had it on the menu! I feel like not many Viet noodle places have it in SF. The wings were good and came out hot. We were a bit annoyed that the wings came after our main entree, otherwise service was good and they were attentive. The place has a hole in the wall vibe and parking is not difficult at all if you park a block away and not on Taravel.

Google
Phenomenal Vietnamese foods! The chef, Ms. Hoa, is a super talented chef. We had private menu (requires 1-2 days advance notice) and every dish was excellent! Taste is very balanced, both elevated yet homey. Wait staffs were attentive and professional. Will be back again!

Google
Had a bunch of items from here so far, nothing was bad but there were some just average dishes. The standout has been the beef bone pho, it has a huge piece of tender meat and tons of flavor! The vermicelli noodle dishes are nice and refreshing, a good way to eat healthy The garlic noodles were just average and nothing special while the coconut curry was just ok as well, very creamy tasting but not as strong flavors as I would like

Yelp
Another review by BAM. Viet Quan. My new fav. Add to your list to visit while in SF. Parking- Street parking. If it's the weekend and the evening, you gonna have to park and walk. What you expect? It's the Richmond! But...it's worth it. Food is Hella good. Did I just say that? Pho and all kinds of great grindz here. Reminds me of the beautiful cultural melting pot of SF. Don't sleep on this: Steamed Chicken: Tender, Juicy, Succulent. You want to just slather this on your body. Ok, maybe TMI. But you can't go wrong on this. Beef Rib Pho DAC Biet: BAM's FAV! A BIG beef bone...get the regular size, SOOOOO tender. I feel like a little kid eating this huge beef bone, like in the Flintstones cartoons! SOOOOOO good! Family style. Bring your eating clothes. Very nice people. I highly recommend. Thanks K&B for inviting us!

Yelp
First time here after driving around for a bit and craving pho. Fast service. Beef rib pho is impressive. I would have liked the broth to have a bit more flavor without having to add a huge amount of Sriracha and hoisin. My taste test dish of BBQ Pork Imperial Roll with Vermicelli was very good. All veggies were fresh and not wilted. Will make follow up visits for sure to try the rest of the menu, which has some interesting variety.

Yelp
Me: "Awwww that pigeon is limping." Also Me: "Mmmmm, this squab IS delicious!" Since opening in April 2022, Viet Quan has been a popular staple in Parkside because it's the only phở spot on Taraval. Co-owner and chef is Chinese but raised in Vietnam and formerly owned Quán Ngon on Noriega. It wasn't on my list to try until my nail tech was raving that Viet Quan is the place to go for their chef specialties and off-the-menu items (and not the usual Viet items). Viet Quan is open for takeout and indoor dining only. You can order ahead on their website. Visited on a weekday at opening time so no wait but I heard there's usually one during peak hours. M E N U Vietnamese Cuisine - usual staples: apps (chả giò) phở, bún (cold vermicelli noodles), and rice plates. Call to inquire about off-the-menu specials. Complimentary hot tea served. F O O D * French-Style Squab w/ raisin + onion sauce ($26.95): https://tinyurl.com/2u6vb54r A chef-specialty, the squab is marinated overnight (soy-based) and fried to order. The cookery was on-point with a crispy skin and juicy dark meat (nicely rendered and not oily). The breast was tender, not dry. Squab tastes like duck with a slight gamey flavor. While the raisins and onions added sweetness, I wasn't too crazy about it. The marinated squab was good on its own with the accompanying tangy lime and pepper dipping sauce. * Cơm Đỏ: Tomato Rice ($4.50) Usually love Viet tomato rice but this one didn't have much tomato-ey flavor. S E R V I C E Cordial and prompt staff but don't expect check-ins. Raise your hand if you need something. A M B I A N C E Low-key with gold basket pendant lighting and colorful paper parasols hanging from the ceiling. There's 12 tables. P A R K I N G Street parking is a little bit easier since the L Taraval Project was completed last fall. Still can be a challenge tho. Overall, great to see a pandemic born business thriving in Parkside. Def worth trekking to Viet Quan to try their chef specialties!

Yelp
I'm on a mission to try a few bookmarked spots to find new local favorites. Viet Quan is close to the ocean on Taraval, and they offer a small cash discount. Nice ladies run this local spot. In truth, their grilled pork vermicelli and egg roll at $18, was a just okay rendition with super thin grilled pork missing that char and caramelization that can make this dish, and vermicelli with a barely fish-sauce tasting sauce. The egg roll was delicious. For me, this simple dish is a staple that I appreciate for the quality of its limited ingredients: the quality of the charred grilled meat, the freshness and level of the veg, and the flavor. Here it was unfortunately bland. I did see a customer eating a fun, enormous French bone marrow dish (Henry VIII sized) which looked promising, but a dish like this depends on the quality of the bread and marrow, and given other favorite Vietnamese restaurants, I don't know if we'd return to try it.

Yelp
Food was good. I got the rice and bbq pork plate. It was very filling. They brought out the food real quick. I really liked that they gave you hot tea for free because you usually have to pay for it. Plenty of seating.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday night and actually found parking close by. It's right on the corner of 28th and Taraval so that was a surprise. Had a friend sign in while I got parking so sat immediately. Ordered the bun rieu and the filet mignon cubes, or I guess they call it French style meat here. I don't often see that at viet restaurants so I was interested to try. Bun rieu I might not get again, the fried tofu was way too fried and dry and the crab meat just okay. Good broth! Still I suppose a solid choice but I don't think it's their stronger dish. Filet mignon cubes and tomato rice were good though and would recommend it. I do wish the pieces were cut a little smaller as it was more rectangular and less bite size. Still, decent flavor and texture and would recommend. One thing I do wish is if they wouldn't serve boiling hot tea out of a flimsy plastic pitcher, which probably isn't meant for warm let alone hot liquids (does it really cost much more to get a non-plastic pitcher? After seeing my boiling hot refill poured I did not drink another..), and also if the utensils were slightly cleaner.

Yelp
Came here twice. The pho was more delicious when they first opened. I don't order the pho anymore Their Banh Xeo is pretty good! Would order again. Every time I've went, none of the waiters speaks Vietnamese!

Yelp
There were around 20 people here on a rainy and cold Wednesday night. We were seated immediately and had many items to choose from on the menu. We felt a bit rushed ordering and were given special items slightly pushed at us without us asking, but nevertheless they had wide selection of Vietnamese/Chinese food. Our group ordered the Hanoi Fried Rice, the Crab Meat & Tomato Rice Noodle Soup (think it's supposed to be Bun Rieu), and Five Spice Chicken & Egg Roll with Vermicelli. The proportion for the Hanoi Fried Rice was generous and was quite yummy; we had enough for leftovers for a couple of meals. The soup could have been more favorable in my opinion. The vermicelli dish was also good, but I wish there was a greater portion of protein and meat compared to vegetables. Overall, I would like to visit this place again and give the other dishes a try.

Yelp
This is a very nice addition to Taraval St, especially since this neighborhood gets so much chill from the ocean. We need more hearty, warming restaurants like this! Echoing what other reviews have said, the portion is generous, and the beef was tender and well-prepared, but the flavor was a smidge underwhelming. We got the #1 pho, the bone marrow appetizer (which came with some bread and a small salad), and the shrimp spring rolls. Everything was pretty decent, and the bone marrow was a highlight (I'll definitely come back for this). But the pho was missing a bit of authenticity, in that the broth wasn't flavorful enough. They also offer flat rice noodle as an option. Portion was good! The decor was nice, though the space was a bit too quiet before more customers showed up, like a party that hasn't warmed up yet. Some music or movies would've been nice. There were these giant TVs that were turned off, so that felt like a missed opportunity. Overall, I personally feel like the food was a bit... Americanized? It's still good, and I do plan to return. I really enjoyed the bone marrow and the tender beef, and I'm hopeful the pho will get even better. I think there's lots of potential here!
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious pho! Love the flat rice noodle. Beef slices in my pho are tasty too. We ordered beef banh mi to go. It was so good we almost finished it while sitting by the table. The beef in my banh mi was very tender and flavorful.

Yelp
Went on a Friday night around 6:30pm and it was pretty packed but we got seated in 10 minutes. This was our first time there and it was delicious! We wanted to try it out after walking by and seeing a full vegan menu (including items that are made with fake meat). We had the vegan imperial rolls (delicious but super fried) and my husband had the large vegan pho (fake shrimp, meat, etc) and I had the chicken pho. We will definitely be back to try more things on the vegan menu!! The staff was super attentive and the food came out quickly.

Yelp
Wanted to eat in the neighborhood and decided to have Vietnamese food. This place always seemed packed, so we booked and came early. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We ordered a bunch of dishes and our favorites were the pork chops and the five spice chicken with garlic noodles. Both were tender juicy and flavorful. The other dishes were good too. We all had an enjoyable meal and will definitely be back again. Tip - bring cash to pay and you'll get a discount.

Yelp
Large portions and exceptional service. Shoutout to Benton! Clean interior, street parking around, nice local neighborhood Vietnamese food.
google avatar

Yelp
The bun rieu is average. Soup is a bit watery but other ingredients are fresh and solid. I believe the people who work here are Chinese and not Vietnamese so if you're looking for authentic viet dishes then it might be lacking. However they do make a good chicken and rice dish here though.

Yelp
This pho spot in the Sunset is a great find, especially if you're a fan of hearty, satisfying meals. Their rib bone pho is incredibly meaty, with tender pieces of beef falling off the bone into a rich and flavorful broth. It's a bowl that really fills you up and leaves you feeling satisfied. The restaurant has a decent amount of tables, which is nice for the area, so it's usually not too hard to grab a seat. The noodles and toppings are fresh, and everything comes together for a comforting meal. Definitely worth trying if you're in the area

Yelp
Came here for lunch on the weekend. I've been to this spot a few times before since I live close by. It's very affordable, has big portions, and is nice and clean. This time I came with my parents and we got the black pepper steak, the large beef rib pho, and the oxtail stew. The favorite was definitely the black pepper steak! It was well seasoned and flavorful. The large pho was $2 extra dollars, it was a huge portion. It came with a lot of meat! The oxtail stew was just okay, it was flavorful but the oxtail wasn't the most tender.

Yelp
Went over for a late lunch around 2:45 pm and a couple tables were full but we were able to get a seat near the window. The inside is very clean, bright and some pops of colors in their decor. The staff gave us some tea and we were able to order soon after. Vietnamese Carpaccio (Raw Beef Salad) - This was my first time having it and it was so good. All of the ingredients like the meat were super fresh and light especially with the lime added on top. Also liked how the onions and nuts added some crunch. House Special Beef Rib Pho - Their soup was very light and meaty. The meat in the soup was very soft and it came with a giant bone as well. The dish had a nice beef flavor throughout making it a hearty, warming dish. Garlic Noodle with B.B.Q. Beef - The portion of this dish was huge! The noodles were cooked well but could have used a little more garlic flavor. The beef on the other hand was packed with flavor: savory, salty and rich. I was pleasantly surprised by everything I tried at this restaurant and am looking forward to coming back!

Yelp
The taste was very authentic. The meat was really tender. The vegetables were fresh . The broth was rich and smooth. The service needed a little more focus. The place was nice and comfortable. Unfortunately I noticed a fly buzzing . That left me trying to catch it. I guess because the doors were left open .
google avatar

Ena K.

Yelp
obsessed with this place, service is quick & everyone is very friendly. portion sizes are HUGE, easily can split into two meals. the vermicelli tasted very fresh & the chicken was crispy and juicy! highly recommend this place!! they also take apple pay haha
google avatar

Bailey L.

Yelp
We ordered the combo beef noodle soup and crabmeat and tomato soup (bun rieu) and imperial rolls. The beef noodle soup was good, the wide noodles were fresh. The imperial rolls were not bad, a bit too crispy and the filling is a bit different than normal imperial rolls. It was good but different. The crabmeat and tomato soup tasted watered down and didn't have enough crab/tomato flavor like usual bun rieu. It was not flavorful enough. It's a decent spot, but I probably wouldn't make the drive for it.

MC J.

Yelp
I had not been back since they opened a few years ago. We went on a Saturday afternoon around 2pm and it was full. The imperial rolls ($10) were good, nice to see them rolled with rice paper and not the thicker Chinese style wrappers. We also had the squab dish with raisins and onions ($27), reviewed in the S.F. Standard in February 2025. The pho noodles were unfortunately overcooked in both bowls we ordered. Service can be friendly or less so, depending on the person waiting on you
google avatar

Nancy D.

Yelp
This is the best pho I have had in a long time! I'm Vietnamese and very picky about pho. The beef bone pho was AMAZING. Perfectly balanced broth with lots of meat and noodles. The small bowl is relatively large and it's all you really need. The place has quick service and perfect for a casual place to bring a group of friends.
google avatar

Suni O.

Yelp
Cleanliness 2.5/5 Flavor 3/5 Meat quality 5/5 Service was fast but utensils were moldy upon opening the chopstick packages and dishes were chipped and not that clean. I understand smaller restaurants may have that but sometimes it just puts the appetite off to see the things you're eating on not be clean. Starting off the beef carpaccio was very tender and fresh tasting. Their pho I believe # 16 or 17 was huge and had plenty of meats. For about 20$ per bowl it was great to see that the price matches the quantity given. But it was lacking in flavor on the other hand, it was very clean but plain broth with no full boded taste. Added fish sauce hoisin and others but was still lacking. Drinks are on the SMALL size and by small I mean McDonald's child drink small and they even cut the straws in half to fit the cups. It's not worth it if you're paying $5/6 for a drink to get half a cans worth.

Yelp
One friend introduced us dining at Viet Quan for lunch. We celebrated our belated holidays. We talked about our holiday experiences and future trips for the year 2025. I made a reservation for 6 at 12 noon to guarantee our table since the wait is first come first served basis from what I read on Yelp. As we entered the dining room, I noticed the colorful umbrellas hanging from the ceiling. Pictures on the wall are nice. The server approached me if I was the one who reserved the table for 6 and I said yes. Since our friend is a regular customer, she told us what food we can order as family style meal especially the delicious Hanoi Fried Rice. We had the appetizers of Imperial Rolls, BBQ Pork with Vermicelli, Fried Chicken Wings, Vietnamese Crepe, Papaya Salad with chicken and Seafood Noodle Pho with fat noodles. The food came fast from appetizers to main course. But the Hanoi fried rice came last for which I forgot to take the photo. We enjoyed the meal as they were healthy with the mixed greens like lettuce & mint, sprouts, pickled radish & carrots served alongside the rolls. There was so much food and by the time we had the pho, it was not hot anymore. But it was still delicious. We had the peanut sauce and citrusy dipping sauce. We had to flag down servers as they were busy but they were nice. We saw two servers in the room. One gave me her name as Carina? (not sure). A server came to refill our tea cups. As she was pouring tea, we noticed the plastic pitcher. We said it may need replacement as it was dark. She said since they use it everyday, the tea stains the plastic tea pitcher. We had small leftovers of mixed greens and fried rice. We were full from the delectable meal. I may bring my other friends here to experience another Vietnamese restaurant in Sunset.

Yelp
Used to love this place but it has been mediocre and service was BAD. RUDE waitress if you request anything other than ordering. Even when you thank her she is just rude without response.

Yelp
Very good pho!! Saw it from an article on sfstandard and had to try. Really enjoyed the take out packaging and flavor. Everything was perfectly ready to go when I arrived. Got back and reheated and it was delicious. Rare beef was especially delicious. Look forward to eating there next time, restaurant was spacious and well lit with decent parking near by.

A W.

Yelp
Mediocre with bland broths I wouldn't recommend it Only plus is it's the only pho place on Taraval. The ones on Irving street are better
google avatar

William L.

Yelp
We love Viet Quan for their flavors and accurate portion sizes for a person. Their drinks are of the usual Faire, Thai ice tea, Vietnamese coffee, the usual . But you know what, they are done well. Menu is not too crazily packed with dishes like some other places. You can get lost sometimes, with what your palette wants today lol. If your party isn't more than 4, I believe it's easier to seat. Otherwise, I would suggest calling ahead of time so they can see if they can seat you. Prices are fair, staff are pretty attentive, and food is great! Thumbs up frim me and the fam!

Yelp
First time checking this place out. Started with the Beef Carpaccio - the beef wasn't sliced as thin as I would've liked but I liked it with all the toppings and the sauce on the side. The Imperial Rolls were crispy and meaty. I decided to go with the House Special Dry Noodles - soup served on the side and it was flavorful. Generous portion of noodles served with chicken, fried pork skin, fish cake and fish balls. Good flavor. Hubs ordered the chicken meat and intestine pho and kiddo ordered the combination pho. They were huge bowls and the broth for both was flavorful. 3.5 stars as there was ALOT of noodles but the meat was not proportional to the amount of noodles in the bowl.

Yelp
DATE & TIME: Fri Jan 12, 2024 @ 12:00 PM LAYOUT: spacious and bright, beautifully adorned with hanging lanterns and umbrellas; about a dozen tables or so seating parties of 2-4 people SERVICE: quick standard service FOOD: #19 combo well done, rare beef, and beef ball noodle soup PARKING: metered street parking in front, residential parking surrounding Viet Quan Vietnamese Noodle House is a cute, modern Vietnamese restaurant in the Parkside neighborhood. My #19 combo well done, rare beef, and beef ball noodle soup was good, but not amazing. The broth was flavorful but a little on the oily side. Beef to noodle ratio was just right. Food here is on par with other family-run Vietnamese restaurants in the inner/outer Sunset/Richmond neighborhoods. But I do love the decor here! If I'm in the area I would return, but personally wouldn't go out of my way.
google avatar

Helen L.

Yelp
My eating mate said the beef soup was not flavorful. Got the small pho bowl with beef, but once you add the bean sprouts, that bowl was overflowing. Looked like lots of meat. I got the egg roll and bbq beef on a bed of noodles, and on the side was salad. I liked my fish. The egg roll was perfect, and there was lots of filling. I'm glad I had this. Comes with free tea. Saw someone ordered a giant bone marrow.

Yelp
Summary: Incredibly good Vietnamese Cuisine, Fast efficient friendly service, casual neighborhood vibe with a touch or two of modern decor. It's tough to go wrong with the menu here... BIG portions, and the "Small" sizes are plenty 'nuf too! =) Intro & Ambiance: Way out on the outer Western edge of San Francisco lies the Sunset District, which is pretty much the quiet 'burbs compared to the other sides of town. On Taraval Street out here, there are a ton of Chinese restaurants but good Vietnamese food has been curiously missing in this particular quadrant until just recently. In particular, many different small Chinese Cafes have taken their turn at the corner restaurant right on the L-Taraval Streetcar line at 28th Avenue and Taraval, but none have been as successful from the get-go as Viet Quan Vietnamese Noodle House. It's usually quite busy here at all times noon or nights, so step inside through the double doors and place yourself on the waitlist. Before you are tables of four along the walls and tables of two paired up down the middle, which are sometimes paired up with the tables along the walls to accommodate larger parties. The Food: Here's the rundown on some of the dishes we've tried over several visits: #3 - 4/5 BBQ Pork Rolls - These are fresh spring rolls - not deep fried, but wrapped in rice paper and steamed. served cold with lettuce and vermicelli inside with the BBQ pork. #50 - 4/5 BBQ Pork with Vermicelli - Perfect for hot days, Excellent grilled pork with a chopped up spring roll over a bed of vermicelli and lettuce. Portions are Big! #20 - Well-done Beef & Rare Beef Noodle Soup - On point, but I prefer my rare beef to be served on the side.. I'll ask for that next time, but the other dishes here overshadow this one. With the small sizes here, you get a deep bowl. Plenty if you aren't absolutely starved. #22 - 4/5 Chicken Noodle Soup - On point and a reliable simple choice for a long cold day. With this you get enough tender slices of chicken and wide rice noodles. Other noodles can be substituted without issue. #31 - 5/5 Curry Chicken with Egg Noodle Soup - A surprise hit! The curry is noticeably stronger here in this than Japanese Curry, and the extra kick gives this hot noodle bowl the oomph you want to clear out any stuck sinuses! Unlike #22, you get bone-in pieces of dark meat chicken with this. Perfect! #74 - Garlic Noodles with Shrimp -(4.25/5) Presented on a giant square plate (because it needs it!) is a HUGE portion of Garlic Noodles with about 8 small/medium sized grilled shrimp on top. The shrimp was divine with just a hint of char, same goes for the noodles, which had a reasonable amount of butter and a decent amount of garlic. A bit more garlic would have been even more fantastic. I challenge anyone to finish this massive plate! The shrimp went quickly, and the noodles are rich, but not totally overly buttered like I've had at other places. Next time, I would ask for double portion of shrimp for a few more bucks for this one. Delish! *as a YT Mom likes to say! =) If you've read this far, you can tell that we love VQNH. It's definitely one of our top Viet places to hit up whenever we feel the call! I can't wait to try out the other items on their menu!

Yelp
First time I came here with my family, it was SOOO good!! Parking is not too hard in this part of sunset but you might have to circle around a couple of times. The chicken pho definitely hit the spot. I normally don't finish a whole bowl of pho but this time I did! Second time I came here and "made" reservations. It was really reservations since when I arrived, there was no available time but the guy said he was setting it up. We waited maybe 15-20 minutes and then finally got squished into a 4 person table with 5 people. They also ran out of ho fun noodles so the experience was not that great for me. Maybe it was due to the fact that they had a huge party of maybe 20 people sitting at circle tables. I would still come back since the chicken pho was that good.

Yelp
Good neighborhood spot for pho and vietnamese food. It is a bit pricey but seems normal now for SF. Their portions are very generous so a small can fill you up. I got a #19 and the only thing I kind of didn't like was the beef meatball, was kind of spongy but everything else was good. It's a small place but has a lot of tables without feeling very cramped.

Yelp
Everything is fresh. The beef rib is delicious and it falls off the bone. Soup is tasty. My family and I enjoy this place.

Yelp
Heard about this place from a friend. I visit some friends on a weekly basis a few doors up the block but never set foot in here due to my schedule. I finally made a point to come here for a late afternoon dinner around 4:30 pm on a December Thursday. There was only a couple finishing their meals along the left wall when I walked in. The waitress gave me my choice of tables so I took the center two-seater closest to the kitchen, figuring it'd be easier to serve me. It's scary when you want to try everything on the menu . Dining alone and having a late lunch made this that much more difficult. I decided to start with the imperial rolls (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=98ycIBEnnGyQW6d_uh5QFQ&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q);seeing posted Yelp photos, I knew that enjoy this given the skin for the rolls; the filling (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=L3L0ZZsESx2dZdy5xx-N3w&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) didn't disappoint either. I tore half of one lettuce leaf and added the rice noodles, pickled veggies, and one roll piece before pouring some fish sauce on top. It was a little messy to eat but delicious. For my main, I ordered their signature house special beef rib pho (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=J-2jWipov-EM0EEYs-BQqw&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q), opting for the flat rice noodle (ho fun) (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=ckAP5u6d_fOntZUNX72Ptg&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q). The short rib is quite impressive (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=LjPhRdVmkJoZrBKzI2dgBw&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q), size wise, meatiness, and flavorwise; I took only a bite, knowing my appetite couldn't handle the whole rib. The five spice broth where it was likely cooked shined. The noodles are on the thinner side than Cantonese style ho fun. The broth is the star along with the variety of meats in this bowl; the soup had a rich texture without being oily or fatty. For my beverage, I basically ordered dessert with the Pina colada puree (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=Nt2ioqLYdorUiypNY0vPxw&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q). It was more a slushy and on the icy side, making it less sweet than I expected, definitely a good thing. My leftovers, the rib and the rest of the imperial roll, became my lunch later in the week. The young gal who hosted and waited on my table was cordial and efficient, being the only person working the dining room as I ate (note the time I was there mentioned above). It was a filling meal and I enjoyed everything that I had. I hope to bring friends with me next time so I can try more menu items. *** Side note: I'd seen a friend post FB photos of a multi course family style meal. Do ask about that as I will ask my friend next time I see him.

Yelp
Great pho and large portions. I've been here a few times, and the size and flavors are consistent. They put a lot of meat, which I appreciate. I love putting a lot of bean sprouts and lime in mine, and asking for the bean sprouts to be slightly cooked which they're happy to do every time. Their service is also SUPER fast and the pho comes out faster than I expect every time, even when they're busy. It does get cold inside the restaurant, so be aware of that, but the pho will warm you up pretty quick.

Yelp
The Best Pho ever!! My favorite is Emperial rolls, crab and tomato soup, Peppered steak with tomato rice! The service is great as well and fast service!

Yelp
This place makes me feel like I found a hidden gem. The service here is very nice... which is honestly really sweet because they don't seem to mind taking people in around closing time. The combination of nice servers, chill vibes and larger than average portions gets a 5 stars from me. The House Special Beef Rib Pho is about ~$20 and they don't skimp on the meat, noodles or rib presentation. But what really captured my heart is the BONE MARROW!!!!!! So huge and glorious, for $20 you really can't find a deal like this anywhere. Plus it's simply topped with just crispy bits and green onions - no frills. Would be nice with more bread though so next time I'll have to ask :) Also, I noticed they have a large amount of Vegan dishes. I'm not Vegan but the availability of veggie dishes is really overlooked these days - so it's worth mentioning how impressive their Vegan menu is!

Yelp
I love that this restaurant gives the option to choose which noodles you want (flat, thin, or round rice noodles). I ordered the rare beef and beef ball noodle soup. The broth was super flavorful and the portions of meat were generous. The rice noodles also tasted very fresh. The small size was super filling and was the perfect amount for me. There are plenty of tables inside and the service was fast and efficient. Overall, there are many options on the menu and this is great place to go if you want to get pho in the sunset!

Yelp
Probably the best pho/viet in the area. Prices are fair, portions are good, free tea, clean tables etc. We've been back several times now. One this particular visit i got the bun rieu and fried rice. Only negative thing I have to say is to pass on the "puree" smoothies, they're just box juices and blended ice.

Yelp
My ALL TIME FAVORITE pho spot. I've been coming here since the grand opening! Their chicken pho with intestines is my absolute favorite! It's very comforting and rich. I get it every single time when I come! They are super generous with the gizzards and the chicken is super tender. Their chili sauce oh my ITS SOO DELICIOUS and addictive. I also absolutely love how they give you the option to choose what type of noodle you want. I always go for the round rice noodles because not many places serve that! Their imperial rolls are also to die for. Not too greasy, great flavor, and it's a perfect crunch! The service isn't bad either. It does get super busy and so, it sometimes takes them awhile to bring you the check in the end.

Yelp
NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM Really liked the way this restaurant prepares their dishes! Hugh quality beef, not like the gristly, chewy grade beef used at other places.

Yelp
Solid place for Vietnamese food with good portions. The interior has a good amount of seating, and the decor is no frills. Service is good enough, and food comes out quickly. I have ordered pho, bun rieu, BBH, and imperial rolls here, and nothing has ever disappointed. Pricing is pretty consistent with SF, which tends to be steeper than further south like SJ. I have been here several times, but most recently got imperial rolls to go which cost around $12 for two pieces with vermicelli. Hit the spot, but definitely wasn't cheap for the portion. Overall, good place for a quick bite and to satisfy a Vietnamese craving.

Yelp
My husband and I were craving a bowl of pho, for that cold winter day in SF. Our regular go-to spot, Yummy Yummy, was closed, so we decided to try something closer to our neighborhood this time, and this place had decent reviews. I ended up getting the Rare Beef Pho. It was just a very mediocre bowl of pho. There seemed to be something lacking in the flavor - it just didn't taste right, like they forgot one key ingredient. My husband felt the same way. The noodles didn't even taste right either, like they were slightly overcooked. We also got the Imperial rolls to share for an appetizer, and we also felt underwhelmed. They just tasted very average, nothing compared to Yummy Yummy on Irving!! It took a long time for us to order, but our food came out quickly. This was also a place where they have suggested tips of 18%, 20%, and 25%. I'm always a bit irritated when a restaurant thinks they are deserving of 25% tip, because even 3 star Michelin restaurants don't expect 25% tip; they ask for 20%. Anyway, there was nothing horrible about this bowl of pho, but really just average and mediocre. I would not return to this place. If in the situation again, where our go-to spot Yummy Yummy was closed, I would just eat another cuisine for the evening lol. We'll return to Yummy Yummy another time when they reopen.

Yelp
If you're hungry and want to get a lot for you $$$, this is the spot. Reasonably priced. I usually get the rare steak pho with 1/2 noodles and usually can't finish it. It's delicious though. My cousin, in the pic, got the pho with the beef bone and loved it. She only finished half of it. The bone marrow is a must try .. super rich but so good.

Yelp
This was my second time trying this place, and I think it's just alright. This time, I decided to get vermicelli. Of course, I had to go with the five spice chicken with egg rolls vermicelli, my all time favorite. The chicken was very tender with a crunchy layer of skin and was very well seasoned. The egg roll had a great crisp to it, but was a little mid-- there are better ones out there. They gave a heaping amount of noodles, which served me well for lunch and dinner. Solid choice! The bun rieu was mid. I remember getting it the first time I came, and my opinion hasn't changed a bit. The soup seemed to be lacking in flavor. The pho also seemed to be lacking. It appeared much murkier than other places. I can't say much for the latter two of the three, but they for sure didn't leave the greatest impression on me; not memorable at all. I would honestly come back for the chicken!
