A Food and Wine Lover’s Guide to the Loire Valley | Eater

"Château du Coing is known for its Muscadet, a dry, crisp, low-alcohol white wine made with the Melon de Bourgogne grape and famously paired with oysters. The vineyard is in Nantes, on the western edge of the Loire, where the Sèvre and Maine rivers meet and cool ocean breezes help moderate the climate, which is responsible for the wine’s refreshing acidity and hint of minerality. While the wines are bright and fresh, they have a distinct creaminess on the palette thanks to aging on their lees. At Château du Coing, which is open year-round, you can enjoy a classic wine tasting with local cheese, or take advantage of the surrounding rivers with a canoe or boat trip." - Lee Musho

We stayed here as part of France Passion, wow it’s superb, beautiful surroundings and a warm welcome from Louise. We enjoyed tasting of 6 wines, each one fantastic and the explanation of the winery and muscadet was excellent, we purchased a few bottles and enjoyed the unique wine of folie Blanche for dinner with some local oysters and it was perfect. We spent the evening amongst the vines in the peaceful surroundings thank you for a wonderful experience. A very high end wine producer of muscadet in our opinion

We had a really nice tour throug the vineyards and around the castle. Everything was explained very clearly. Our tour guide was lovely and spoke English very well. At the end of the tour we also had a wine tasting in the wine cellar. Great wine! We bought a few bottles.

We discovered this chateau through France Passion and are thrilled! We received such a warm welcome and felt very welcome! It's a wonderful and quiet place! If you want, a wine tasting is possible. On the site you can also celebrate wonderful weddings. We would come back anytime and fell in love a little bit!

Very friendly, informative tour about the chateaus history and the grapes grown, the tour was given by the owner who spoke very good English. Beautiful wines to taste at the end of the tour. Tour cost 8 Euros per adult. Their sparking wine is worth asking to try (and to buy)

The second year we have visited this marvelous vineyard and continue to be impressed by the haute collection of their wines and the ability to taste them. Chloe, our host for the visit, was informative, very pleasant, and well able to help us out when our French failed (we are Australians). Only too happy to pick up a dozen of their "sur-lies" though a tad disappointed that the Monière-St-Fiacre 2017 was no longer in stock, the 2018 will have to do as I am sure it will. Thank you Chloe and G-C.

Came here on a bicycle from Nantes at their lunch break, and had an almost dead phone. So thankful for the host to lend me a phone charger to charge my phone while I waited for the wine tasting session Had a full run down on how Muscadet is produced in the region, and tried a couple of wines produced by them - they were all really good!

At the end of a loose gravel track through vines, we were made very welcome in our camping car and enjoyed Muscadet tasting in the chateau cellars. Kindly found space for us to park for the night on a grassy track amongst the vines, before collecting our purchases the next day. The chateau is also a France Passion site.
