"What It Is: A place in Gowanus where you can drink beer while you learn how to throw an axe Perfect For: Birthdays Walk into Kick Axe Throwing, and the first thing you have to do is sign a waver. This is a bar/venue in Gowanus where you drink beer and learn how to throw small axes, and, while we didn’t actually read the waiver that we signed, we assume it said something like “I agree to not get mad if this doesn’t end well.” You pay a per-person fee of $35, then go to one of the many small indoor target ranges where you get 70 minutes to play axe-throwing games while being monitored by a trained employee who’s there to make sure you don’t do something stupid. You can try walking in, but if you’re set on spending your night throwing axes, you probably want to reserve online in advance. The Verdict: A fun thing to do with a group, and recommended for anyone who wants to throw sharp, heavy things on their birthday." - hannah albertine, bryan kim, katherine lewin, hillary reinsberg, chris stang, matt tervooren

We recently spent an afternoon at Viking Axe Throwing, and let me just say — what an epic experience! From the moment we walked in, the vibe was amazing. The staff were friendly, super welcoming, and walked us through everything with patience and humor. None of us had tried axe throwing before — even the kids were total newbies — but the instructor made sure we felt confident and safe. And once we got the hang of it? It was addicting. There's just something so satisfying about sticking an axe in the target after a few tries! The space was really well laid out — clean, rustic, and with a cool edge. They had options for all skill levels, games to keep things interesting, and even a chill lounge area. The whole family had a blast — even those who didn’t think they’d enjoy it couldn’t stop smiling. We’re already planning to go back. If you're looking for something a little different that brings everyone together (and makes for some great photos and laughs), this is the spot. Highly, highly recommend!

Called to book a fun work holiday outing for a group. Working with the owner was easy and seamless. The event was a blast, and we had such a great time. We enjoyed some fun games, challenges, and some history insights the owner shared with us. We will definitely be reaching out for more events in the future!!

We recently held a birthday party for about ten teenagers at Viking Axe Throwing, and it was an absolute blast! The facilities are super cool, and the staff was truly amazing, making the experience safe and incredibly fun for everyone. As a bonus, they even have a couple of dogs, which the kids (and adults!) loved. I honestly cannot recommend it enough and can't wait to go back!

Not only was this so much fun, the atmosphere was really inviting. Laura really made sure our group was attended to and made sure we had a great time. The owner is also very friendly and answered any questions I had about my reservation. Most of my group have never been axe throwing before. I guarantee I will be returning to this location!

Good for families if you aren’t interested in taking your kids around alcohol. It’s unlike anywhere else in Colorado.

This place is awesome and I highly recommend it! The owner is super cool and offered to let us throw other sharp things like knives, stars and even the “playing cards”. If you want to chop wood, you can do that too. We felt very welcomed and got to geek out on weapons.

Have been here quite a few times and it's always a blast! Owner is incredible. He's always been very kind, accommodating, and generous to my friends and family. We will gladly continue coming back.
