"Co-owned by Emily Vikre, I learned that Vikre Distilling in Duluth, Minnesota is where she adapted a frozen Negroni she was already making in the distillery taproom into a camping-friendly Sbagliato Slushie: the premixed cocktail is frozen at home in gallon-sized zip bags (double-bagged for safer transport), and the recipe smartly factors in travel time so it reaches a thick, slushie consistency on arrival. To lighten it for post-hike sipping she substitutes prosecco for gin, and she notes she developed the drink before Sbagliato’s viral moment — these are classic flavors she keeps coming back to. Vikre continues to receive photos from around the world of people showing off campsite cocktails, and she calls this the perfect drink for night one of camping because it sets the tone for a very special trip." - Jess Mayhugh
